Should I change from a Note 3 to an LG G4? - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Pros and Cons of each other? Opinions?

Wow...
Sent from my Note 3 running Purify CM13

Whats the problem;got a LGg4 and use and test it; and if its not ok for you,get a Note 4(3) again ,so simple! Then you will know exactly

Lg G4 has a nice camera.
My friend has a G4, its kind of smoother than N3.
But if you draw and scribble and if you like AMOLED & S pen change your mind about G4.
Buy a V10, that thing looks premium.

You can watch reviews to know whats your needs
Lg g4 is a good phone and dont forget that it will have marshmallow update.... so I think you'll be happy with that phone

Yeah exactly. I would never change from a note series to an LG. That does not make any sense. However, you could watch some reviews on youtube to find out the differences. But personally, I would upgrade to Note 4. I can't wait to get my own.

Bootloader of most versions of LG G4 cannot be unlocked. So loss much interest of change to custom ROM as found in Note 3.

[Q] Nexus 5 vs LG G2 vs Galaxy S4?

Hello
What i care about most is music (earphones) quality, ability to theme, good camera and beautiful screen. I am not a gamer. Willing to use custom roms.
So, if you were me, whitch phone you'd choose?
Bump
Personally I'd have the S4 due to the AMOLED screen. I prefer the deep blacks over the LCD/IPS screens. S4 has a micro SD card over the 2 you mentioned. S4 is the oldest though. Nexus 5 will continue to receive the latest Android updates and runs AOSP which in return is much smoother and faster than the S4. G2 is a lovely phone too. All 3 would serve you well to be honest.
Out of those 3?... Galaxy S4 every time.
Hi,
Out of those three it' quite a hard choose. I'd go for Nexus 5, due to easiness to install Custom ROM, root, etc. Not only this, but this device is good looking and has a good screen. LG G2 is a nice phone and has, probably, the best screen among the three (not sure though, using N5 and G2 on a store and owning a S4 I can tell it), also has one of the thinnest bezels over there and is one of the thinnest phones.
For headphone quality it's obviously Sony, the best headphone I used was a Sony Noise Reduction owned by my cousin and the second best was the headphone that came with my Xperia Z1. If I were you I'd choose between Nexus 5 and Z1 actually... But that isn't the case now. Keeping in mind what you want to do, then I think S4 is the most suitable, while it's uglier than N5, is harder to customize and is not as thin or have a screen as good as G2, you have everything good with it, not great, but good, if you can understand me. I liked Galaxy S4 headphones, but mine broke in a shot time span.
All in all, any of them would suit you quite goodly. The best thing I'd recommend you doing is going to a nearby store and trying each of them, so check which you like better .

PS.: If you get S4, make sure you get the Snapdragon variant (GT-I9505), otherwise it'll be harder to install custom ROMs.

is it still worth buyng?

i have a note 3 that i can sell to my sister ( her s3 doesn't work anymore), and with something like 50€ i could buy an lg g2 32gb...should i go for it or just keep my note 3 and let my sister buy a note 3 neo (yeah she likes very much my note 3)? thanks
I think it really comes down to screen size. As you are coming from Samsung you are used to bloat so no issues with the g2 from that perspective.
If you are used to a huge screen, wouldn't the g3 be a more natural choice?
that's another story...i really like my note 3, but sometimes it's just to difficult to handle with one hand, so i decided my next phone would have been smaller, something like nexus 5, z3 compact, iphone 6...the lg g2 could be on the larger side but i think it should work just fine, and with the similar hardware and battery life i shouldn't notice a difference in everyday life...so the question, should i go for it, or just wait and see if i can buy newer phones? thanks in advance
If you can get the G2 at a good price its a no brainer. As the internals were very good when it was released, it doesnt feel like an old phone or backwards to me.
The design of the G2 is slightly better than the Nexus 5 so it doesnt feel any bigger but the screen feels bigger. :highfive:

Actually the G2 isn't that big at all. Just because it has a 5.2" screen, the physical size is relatively small... about the size of my Galaxy Nexus that had a 5" screen. The screen is edge to edge, which not only makes for a smaller physical size, but also looks freaking sweet. The G2 is probably one of the best phones I have ever had (coming from a long line of Nexus lines).
Talking about the G2 vs G3... well... the size isn't that different in hand either. My CoWorker has a G3 and I've been playing on it. I have smaller hands but I could manipulate the G3 with little problems. I don't know if there are any hardware issues with the G3 and we have plenty of G3 Roms for the G2 (essentially making the G2 into a G3), which is what I have done with mine.
The Verizon model also has Wireless Charging and Unlocked GSM bands. Wireless Charging is a must in a mobile phone. I don't think the G3 even has Wireless Charging options unless they went the Samsung route and have special backplates.

Note 3 or?

There's been a few threads on this question, but none are current unfortunately. I've had a Z1 compact for a while but I'm looking to try something bigger now. I'm debating between a note 3, the oneplus one, and the lg g2. Battery life and a good camera is most important to me, but good aosp support would be great too. Wondering if ya'll think the note 3 is a good choice moving forward now or would you recommend something else? Thanks everyone.
OPO is a beast with 5-6hrs screen time. But heard about Touchscreen issues from experiences of 2 of my friends.
Note 3 is great too. I prefer Brand over Specs (so No Way I'll suggest the OPO)
LG G3 (no idea about 2) has a better Camera :3

SoT is minimum 6 for me and up to 8 hours with cm12.1 temasek. Stock roms are crap for me. It is like a new phone with cm12.1.
My note image quality is very bad inside or low light conditions. Nothing top compared to my z2 or note 4.

Note 4 vs G4

Hi guyz, soon i am going to buy a new phone but i am confused between Note 4 and G4. So which is better ?
I'm only gonna go with note 4 just down to fact I got one.
Well i've had a couple LG's smartphones before. They are.. just plain good, also my gf has a lg g3 and to tell you the truth.. is sucks. It is built from kinda cheap materials and its screen looks like the colors are washed out totally. Frankly i haven't get in my hands the LG G4 yet, so i can't tell much. Go for the note 4 and you won't be disappointed. It's a beast smartphone and you will puking rainbows from your mouth when you see its awesome screen

This.... i came from a G3 and in every way the note 4 wins handsdown. Difference between g3 and g4 is minimal.

Meh, you should be ashamed of yourself for putting Note 4 in the same sentence with G4. No, I am not exaggerating anything.
I've had a Note 4 since December '14, I also recently bought a G3 to use as a media player; I didn't get a G4 simply because they are almost identical (in my limited opinion), the Note 4 is an absolute MONSTER, even with the crappy TouchWiz on top of it. Just my two cents buddy.
A reason to note get the LG G4: bootloop issues.Google it, its a hardware defect admitted by LG
Tbh the only thing makes G4 better than Note 4 is the camera. Everything else is just so much better on the Note 4.
Go for Note 4, for sure it is better.
specially battery life & the stylus.

Help me decide LG V20 vs SG S7 edge-Exynos (Both unlocled)

Hey guys
Pls help me decide between the LG V20 & SG S7 edge
some questions:
1. what about root for Both V20 & S& Edge?
If I understood correctly it means tripping knox at the S7 edge and not so possible at V20?
how streaky all that stuff?
2. What about Roms for the V20? is the community make nice Roms for Lg phones? Would it be reasonable to expect to find an updated , nicer and better then stoke Roms and for long ? will it be possible even if I wont have root accesses?
3. how is the accesses from the PC? how easy and comfortable it is?
4. Radio (and IR blaster) (for S7 edge)? I read it might be possible. Does anyone know something?
5 .Fast wireless charging for the V20 (global). Is it possible?
6. I never Used LG phones. How are them, both for shorter and longer time? (I don't expect to replace phone every year nor two).
7 .Charging socket- older Samsung devices seams to have problems with that after a while. Did it got better? How is the Lg devices?
8. handling and repairing (software and hardware) for both the devices. where should I expect more problems and how easy should it be to fix them?
9. What about other hardware and the software differences? Which one is preferable and in what area?
10. what other things I should ask or know about them in order to decide best?
Thank a lot!
I own both devices. LG v20 wins easily.

10x for the ans, draexo
Can you explain? (the more the merrier )
I came from the S7 edge.
It was one of my least favorite Galaxy devices. The V20 is much better IMO. I don't plan on going back to Samsung any time soon.
LG wins on battery life, responsiveness and as good as the S7 camera is the LG camera is better

Another thing, draexo,
You mansion at your signature that you are very disappointing from your S7 Edge SM-G935A. Can you say that are you disappointing from?
Ive owned an s7 edge and S7 and now own an LG 20 and i have to say I am enjoying the LG 20. There are things i will miss from the edge:
1. Samsung Pay. My bank just started to work with it and its fantastic.
2. Native wireless charging. I only used it at night when i went to bed bit it was convieant.
3. Themes. It was nice to occasionally change the look of everything system wide. LG is lacking in this.
Thing I wont miss from edge:
1. That damn thing was the most fragile phone I ever had. Ive owned many phones over the years and never had such an issue with the screen cracking from simple drops. Not only did i crack the screen but wife did to dropoing it when putting it in a case.
The camera works fine for me on both.
LG V20
Go for LG V20! It has much better UI and very responsive, zero stutters or zero micro lags unlike Samsung flagship models (TouchWiz to blame, might be) You will be pleased with the camera , smoothness and watch out for LG V20 features.
The reason is my almost 2 year old LG G4 flies like a 2015 champ and the camera is phenomenal.
Used to be a Samsung owner till Galaxy S5.

S7 achieve root in July about 3 months after it was released. The lgv20 is new and you're going to have to give it some time to see root can be achieved

Two quick points to add. The LG is going to feel snappier. Even if you use a different launcher, TouchWiz framework is a performance drain. I'm done with Samsung as a result.
USB Type C. I'm never going back to micro!

My v20 has only lagged twice. It was some serious frame drop page and one time I know some heavy duty stuff was going in background. The first time I have no idea but it was jarring to say the least. This is absolutely the fastest phone I've used. The only exception might be the pixels but for the first time in my android career I have no interest in it. Other than to play with it a few minutes. Actually like the 6p better than the pixel and I have r touched either one.

The fact that the S7-Edgeis made of glass actually worried me. Even for older devices I bought Protective sheaths to prevent damage. So glass device?
And now you say it is most fragile.
