Hey,
I'm thinking of getting a Note 4 (Deciding between Nexus 6/Note 4/6 Plus actually..unless anyone else has ideas). I tried a 6plus for a while, but couldnt get used to iOS, but i really want great battery life and more importantly, good camera with good low light performance.
The option of custom roms is big to me, I've never committed to stock before. I havent owned a samsung in a long time so i have questions.
1a. Will the canadian variant of this device need roms made specifically for it, and thus, be very limited compared to other versions of the Note 4
1b. How useful is that s-pen with custom roms
2. I've been reading about all kinds of screen issues when viewing at different angles, is there an easy way to spot a DUD when i go to buy?
3. Im camera noob, How easy is it to take great night photos on just Auto, and does it come close to the 6plus
like the title says, i am currently owning the Galaxy S5 , my question is ,
is the Note 4 worth getting when i have a s5 ? i would like to experience the Note phone as i never had one before and i like the spen thingie looks cool.
did anyone here had a s5 and jumped to the Note 4 ?
i dont really want to get the S6 nor the Note 5 mainly due to no Removable back for battery swapping and the use of msd.
yesterday i had sell my s5 for a note 4! it is really better for performance battery camera everything! for me is it a good option!!!

awesome thanks, but how much extra did you pay on top of it ? i think if i sell my s5 in the city here i would barely get 200$ for trade in and would need to pay about 250$ for getting the note 4.
my biggest question is the screen bro,
how is the screen in your eyes??? i saw the note 4 screen from a friend and i didnt like it like MY eyes hurt from looking at it , as it is a QHD display will you get used to it ?? its sooo sharp ,
thanks for the feedback
I sold together with the gear neo 2 so I did not pay anything. an affair!
the screen is much larger of s5, MUCH! and everything is very clear ..sharp! the best display for me. the brightness is very high, to not have problems I keep it to less than half !! if you can buy it!
the memory is 32 gb ..i have 32 micro sd therefore at the top with removably battery!

nice , i am thinking of getting the 910F variant so i can have CM installed on it
thanks for the feedback, so in your opinion it is defintely worth it and it is much better than the s5 in everything ?:fingers-crossed:
I've had s5 for a year and I think it is much better. pictures at night for example are really the best.It is reactive with the TouchWiz !!! good buy!
ps i have 910F european version!
I didn't have an S5 but I did upgrade from a Note 3 to the Note 4.
In my opinion the Note 4 is a fantastic phone- the camera is superb and the screen is face-meltingly awesome.
However, just it can be laggy at times- I'm pretty sure it's a common issue amongst Note 4 users (I have lag and I'm running SimplRom- which in my experience gives the smallest amount of lag in comparison to other custom ROMs I've tried).
The battery life is pretty good too.
Personally I'd make the upgrade but just be warned- there is a fair amount of lag.
Perhaps have a look at review videos etc on YouTube? There's bound to be a comparison video somewhere.
Good luck!

yep i do look at many videos thanks for the feedback !
and i think you should try CyanogenMod if you own a QualComm Note, the n910f < CM will give you zero lags bro , TW lag is in every Samsung phone XD

Hmm, difference in performance from your S5 to a SD Note 4 will be very minor. Specially because the display has a higher resolution.
Quite frankly, official 5.1.1 by Sammy is looking glorious. Phone is so ridiculously fast that I find myself playing of opening and closing apps.
I used CM variants at my S3 for 2~3 years straight, but apart from the cleaner look I honestly don't miss anything about it.
If you're dead set on using CM then the 910F is going to achieve daily driver level much sooner, but the 910C is a better device.

i see.. well i like CM alot, i had the Exynos S5 900h and i swapped it with a QualComm 900f, i really dont want to do that again, since the 910c is a Exynos based model, i think there isnt much of a difference personally.. cause i know this from owning the exynos/qualcomm based s5's.
how much do you like the Note 4 ? is it a very fun phone , like more fun than the smaller displays e.g s3/s4/s5 etc. the ones ranging from 4.7'' - 5'' etc. ?
oh and one more thing, how long will it take me to get used to the sharpness of the n4 screen ? the qhd is the thing that hurts my eyes, when i looked at the one from my relative his n4 hurt my eyes, it is non fake , he has the 910h < exynos one.
will my eyes adapt to the huge sharp screen in a matter of days ?
i'm considering switching from my note 4 to the OP2 what are your recommendations ? can i have user reviews about battery and overheating issues (if there's any) ?
I've only had the device for a day and I played a few games and there was no overheating. A little lag in the game but not much. Battery is better than the Note 4. That is for sure! I've owned the Note 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. The OPT does have better battery life than the Note 4 and 5. If i remember right the Note 2 and 3 had amazing battery life.
I will also say this. The Note 5 is faster than the OPT and the camera is better and so is the fingerprint reader software. I hate touchwiz and I mean I really hate it. I said NO MORE SAMSUNGS after the Note 4 but I had to get on Tmobile's Jump plan so I got a Note 5 and I'm impressed with the SW now. Still not stuck but not horrible anymore.
I hope someone answers you but man you have got a lot of reading to do. Same boat as u. torn between op2 and moto. Best of luck.
Interesting
Well, i will be giving a neutral answer.
1. If you owned a note 4(which u already are), dont waste your money and give that OPT invite to others(if you have one)
2. Regarding your question about overheating issue and battery life, i assure you(well unless you get your hand-on an oxygenOS 2.0.0) there is no overheating issue at all(except you play a 3D HD game like implosion for 1hour+ which temperature will be at 48°c). For battery life, i get a decent SOT of 3h45min ~4h30min for average usage such as facebook, watching youtube, spotify, and waze with some occasion wifi hotspot.

Thank you for the answer.
i also had note 1,2,mega,s4,s5, note3,4, and NOT planing to go on note 5 cuz i hate tw and got bored of it so after sammy removed removable battery and extended storage i also said byebye samsung after the note 4. Might as well get something new and different. The HTC m9+ is way out of my budget. And since i saw the OPT i fell in love for it but i had few doubts about the sd810.
thank you alot your answer helped me very much

If you haven't played with the S6 or Note 5. You should. You might be a little surprised by TW now. I guess it's the theming engine coupled with the speed. Check it out on a friends phone if you can. Not at the store.

I dont really know very much about oxygen os lol but im glad to hear that no overheating issues, as for gaming i dont spend more than 10-15 minutes on a game, mostly fb, instagram, calling, whatsapp.......
and as for the invite i dont have one but there is a merchant in my country getting some so im gonna buy from him the 4gb ram 64gb model,
and mate i simply got bored of same tw over and over if there was a cm rom for my varient i wouldnt consider changing my phone.
if you have anyother comments and some things to tell me about the OPT please do as my decision is almost made
Thanks alot for replying

I guess so. The new moto pure has a terrible battery life from what I read so. Although I will miss the touch less control of the x. I want something that can go well for at least a day and somewhat endure for a couple of years. Although the nexus 6 is quite large. Guess it is op2 then. Will get it through oppomart I guess
This is my recent history.
OnePlus One 1 month.
OnePlus Two 2 weeks.
Both OPO & OPT running hot (OPO is hottest).
OPT is equipped with a better battery, and stand-out from the affordable crowd. The thing is, why you want to switch from Note 4? Any particular reason? I guess the Note 4 has all the features one would want. The 16GB version of OPT is way cheaper than Note 5 ot Edge 6. The choise is yours

Do not trust Oppomart.
I buy two time from oppomart first time they sent me a new phone, second time a used phone, I sent back and they stole me 400 euro on refound.
“I’m sorry the packet arrived empty are you sure you put the phone inside?”
Come on!
I buy from aliexpress and pandawill, it never happen something like this.
To be honest with you, the OPT is not ready yet! but dont get me wrong is a good thing,i got it 2 weeks ago,bit laggy, some bugs and some heat on stock Oxygen 2.02.
But here is the thing! If you using AK kernel you get a different phone! no heating anymore, decent battery life much snappier UI,an He is still in beta stage!
Thats why I love OP, couse you dont get the best of everything out the box, you have to "treat" it to make better for you.
Thats why you can see lots of bad reviews, and they right, you can buy an apple which out the box, everything is smooth and working, but please ,its too boring for us "modders".
If you dont mind to digging forums for make the phone better step by step, and trying different kernels, roms every week than go for it, if you wanna settle with something which is settled, than buy samsung or moto.
Never settle!
Hi guys I'm currently use oneplus two temporary... Im from note 3(sold it). I love galaxy note series camera and specially display... So i need to know should i stick with ONEPLUS two or should i buy note 4?
I know n4 is 2014 and OP2 is 2015. Apart from internals im not satisfied with battery, charging and camera of OPT.... I need good development, good performance most importantly good battery life.... So what you think guys??? Please font suggest other phones... Just need good honest opinion. I use n910c, love screen, battery, perfomance, spen, perfect phone, but i like stock os, before i have oneplus one, loved it, because has stock os and a lot custom roms. Thinking now about oneplus two
Around 4 months ago I've been invited to buy an oneplus2.. I bought it straight away thinking that it was much better than my note4. After all those months where I had both phones my primary device is still the note4. The main reason has been the lack of a sdcard slot on the oneplus2.. I do flash too many ROMs and I prefer to do it clean, so copying all my music and important files every time bothered me a lot.
I had no problem with battery life with both phones... Regarding the note4 camera is good with TW ROMs but not so good with cm based ROMs (yet). Note4 has good development, but the oneplus2 is getting better and better every day.
I personally don't like the samsung stock touchwiz, but if you don't mind it you may be ok buying the N910C (exynos) version.. if not go for the N910F (snapdragon) that has more development (if I'm not wrong).
The note4 is a really good phone.. probably the best I ever owned.. but I would think twice before buying a 2 years old phone... just my opinion. You probably won't regret if you buy it, but it is always a 2 years old phone.. so have a look here at our development section and do some research and make your decision.
In the end I can just tell you, from my personal experience, that the note4 (N910F) is an amazing device.
Cheers
stay with your oneplus 2 and wait the note 6 if u can (mainly due 2 sd-card support ) and u will feel much of difference

Yeah, that's what I would recommend. However if you want a removable battery and a microSDCard slot then I recommend getting the Note 4. As that is probably the best phone of 2014!
Im using both now, the op 2 is better in camera and definitely performNce ehen you install the right software, the note 4 just has a better display and the pen ofc i installed cm based rom cuz tw lagged like ****, and still no official mm hahaha, and about sd card i dont care, both got enough for thr average user so i would stay on op2 and wait for op3 or note 6

You are kidding right? The OP2 has crappy camera sensor when compared to the Note 4 16MP ISOCELL sensor.
Nope, Pictures with Oneplus camera are even a bit better, only the speed of taking photos are better with the note 4, its just my opinion; im on Oxygenos 3.0 and on note 4 on TW 6.0.1 now

I've stayed off CM as the camera was nowhere near as good as the TouchWiz camera when I ran it for a few weeks.
Aftermarket camera apps couldn't compete with the TW camera either.

My biggest reasons to leave Samsung is because of the updates and features that doesn't come to older devices like features of the s7 to the s6. I'm really really sick of samsungs updates always late.
I just want to know what phone you gonna buy next time and why?
1.) OnePlus 5
2.) Nokia 8
3.) LG G6
4.) Samsung Galaxy s8
5.) Pixel 2
6.) Huawei p10
7.) Sony Xperia XZ Premium
the S8 is the #1 phone in my mind, hope they do something new, the pixel is ugly, the V20 is an LG...which i hate...and their UI is the worst, the iphone is......no need to say.....so the S8 might be the only phone for me....
I'm actually switching to the iPhone 7[emoji1] . Definitely away from Samsung!
No idea really. Want to go back to stock so won't be a Samsung. The OP3 is too big, 5.1 is ideal. Pixel is too expensive. There's nothing, atm.
xiaomi for me. maybe the successor to the mi5/mi5s. preferrably one with strong aosp support so I can test out miui and aosp roms
OP3. AOSP is a must, and this time I want to buy atleast 5.5" screen. OP3 has better design, battery, performance, and software.
Probably S8 or Note 8. I really like new Grace UX and the design of their hardware.
Most likely S8 but will see what is available when I can extend my phone contract again.
Haven't really had a reason yet to leave the Galaxy S line (S2, S4, S6). But if I switch it most likely will be because of the support for custom roms.
I'm thinking 1+3 but not really sure. Something with a high XDA forum threads count and stable AOSP roms.
note8

Before my s6e I had a HTC m7 with AOSP and that was really good, now with my s6e I just think that much power (cpu power) is a little useless (at least for me). I'm looking for a better battery phone and not that expensive like s7e or note series. So probably getting a xiaomi redmi 4 prime.

Might go for S7 Edge after the release of S8 haha. Thought of Redmi 4 prime too, but camera department on Xiaomi is sad Was thinking of Mi Note 2, but for 50€ more, I can get S7 Edge ...
I really love my S6 but the battery is really bad for me and I'm always struggling getting through the day. So, I'm intensively checking my options, escpecially all those new Chinese phones like ZUK Z2 Pro, LeEco Le Pro 3 which provide quite some bang for the buck. But all those phones have one or more disadvantages like bad camera, no IR blaster (I actually use that a lot) that I can't accpet.
I spent less than 400€ getting my S6 new about 14 months ago and I don't want to spend more on the next phone I get. I think currently the Oneplus 3 is probably the best option considering the good XDA support and ok camera. But it is still not nice enough for me to spend the 399€ that it would cost (no used phones around here in Germany).
So, I think I have to live with my S6 a little longer. Currently searching the best ROM and kernel to get at least the best out of the battery that is possible.
Most likely something what is NOT from Samsung but I'll see...
I'm quite open to different brands since anyone can create a great device.
For now I'm thinking about either Pixel or even an iPhone (I can barely believe I said it )
if ever i leave my s6 and samsung,i want to own iphone again, maybe 6s plus or 7 if only have money,in most situation i always found that iphone has lesser factory defect than samsung, and the updates is awesome, very fluid and optimized o.s ,downside is very expensive, cant afford ?
