I'm currently on latest firmware (3.1) but Play says MGS not compatible with my Shield so I have no way to install it. Resident Evil 5 is ok though (they are both announced to be available for Shield Marshmallow at the same time).
Anyone else also doesn't have option to install MGS?
I have the option to purchase it. I'm running the Full Android Marshmallow ROM.

I've spent the last day or so researching android tv boxes, and decided that I'm probably going to splash out a little more than I originally budgeted for and go for a shield tv box. only it's starting to become clear that watching channel 4 on demand content in full screen on my tv is STILL going to be a giant pain in the arse.
I've used the search function and found a few mentions about this, but nothing conclusive. so what I'd like to know is, for the uk on demand services that aren't available for android tv, which ones do work when you sideload them from either the google play store or the amazon app store?
specific to all 4 (formerly 4od), I've heard that it doesn't work on rooted devices, when you sideload it from the amazon store it's stuck in portrait, and it only works over wifi or mobile data.
could I sideload it from the play store, then on a rooted shield tv, could I install xposed framework and use modules to hide root from the all 4 app and also make the app think that it's running on a tablet or phone?
alternatively, can I convince my girlfriend to just stop watching bloody hollyoaks, because anything worth watching on all 4 gets uploaded to other streaming sites anyway?
Honestly, mine is rooted and All4 still runs, it's just crap. Better to cast from a laptop or phone.
I was trying to cast from my GALAXY S6 Plus edge to my Nvidia Shield using the screen mirroring but the screen would just go black...I restarted my phone and tried the process again and no luck. I also noticed when I tried to cast another video from my phone to the shield using google chrome it showed that the video was playing but the shield itself just stayed on the main screen. I am rather new to owning a shield can anyone help.
Thank you
As far as i know google blocked screen mirroring in google play services, but check if you have latest version of chromecast receiver: http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/google-cast-receiver/
If you do not then install latest from apk mirror (you need the one that says arm and also need to enable unknown sources in ATV settings to be able to install 3rth party apps), reboot the Shield and test again.
Screen mirror is a known issue.

Yesterday i bought a new Nvidia Shield TV to replace my old Android TV box. It surprised me that almost all the APKs that i used in my old android TV, crashed as soon as i tried to open them in the shield.
They are all apks from south american tv channels that broadcast their live channels on them (i sideloaded them as they are not in the shield tv play store).
Is this normal? Im using the new Shield Experience 6.0 as i got the shield tv yesterday, so i had no chance to test the previous releases. All this apks worked on my Matricom Q Box amlogic android tv box, and i cant make them work in the Shield.
Is it something about the new Shield Experience update? Or the machine itself is not compatible with this small android apps in general?
Thank you!!!
I was playing GTA V just fine before on my Shield TV running Oreo. Did the most recent update to Pie, and now when I go into GeForce Now and run Steam, GTAV shows a download option instead of launch and it says not supported when running it. What the heck? I can still play it just fine on my old Shield Tablet (Nougat). If this is purely because of the Pie update, I will be downgrading. Anyone else experience this? Thanks.
Nvidia delisted all the GTA games without any explanation given whatsoever.
Worked fine a few days ago.
I am trying to turn my shield tablet into basically an android TV box. I am trying to get Prime, Netflix, and Cinema apk to play on tablet and cast to Roku box. I used to be able to do it no problem. I do not know what changed. I am running Triodexe 15.1 Lineage. I am trying to cast to my Roku Ultra. I know your devices have to be on the same wireless network which they are. If it isn't the tablet doing it the only thing I can think of that possibly changed is ROM and now my wireless network just has one network name for both 2.4 and 5. This new router just sets up one network and prioritizes devices automatically for which network the device will use. As far as ROM I cannot remember which one I had it working on. Is anyone else able to confirm casting is working on this app?
Update - When using Lineage I could not get my PS4 to connect via Bluetooth. This was in addition to not being able to use the cast button. I ended up finding a solution to the casting problem. I downloaded Cast to TV-Xcast from the Google play store once it was setup I was able to detect my wifi connection and get it setup. I decided to experiment trying get the PS4 controller working. I seen Magisk actually has a module to add support for the PS4. I installed it and it did not work. Therefore, I decided to try another custom ROM. I am now running ASOP 6.7 with Pie Android 9. I still have the cast problem on it but my controller now pairs. So, it took some monkeying around but I solved those issues.
It seams like we have a couple good ROMs for this device which are close to working perfectly and then the people building them stop. I know Lineage had official builds of 14.1 and 15.1. Somewhere there has to be on o hei builds floated around that is stable. Then, the proper patches can be applied to it. I have tried looking into building images myself but that is over my head. I have a PC I just built that is more than fast enough. I have a Ryzen 7 3600, 32gb of RAM, and more than enough SSD space. I wish someone could connect to my PC and remotely build images, or they could remotely help setup my PC and show me how to do it. Then, I would keep the forum updated with new builds. If I could figure it out I would help out building images for other devices as well.
