Hello, community!
I've successfully rooted my LG Magna LTE (H520G) using Kingroot and then replacing it with SuperSU via @Mr.W0lf's script.
I wanted to install the Xposed framework, so I booted into recovery mode, using Power+VolDown, as usual in LG devices, but instead of going into the recovery menu, the Android with the spinning polygons popped up, and then the phone rebooted into a factory-reset state, having to download and configure everything from scratch again.
Did I miss a step here, or does the rooting method change the recovery-boot shortcut in some way?
I think, nothing changed..
I had always the same problem with my magna.
Now i have twrp and working xposed, so you can just flash twrp.

Thing is, when I tried to flash TWRP, the phone factory-reset itself, so I can't install TWRP via recovery reboot
The stock recovery factory resets. That's normal.
Try installing twrp through adb or through the twrp install app.

So I am fairly new to rooting and didn't know that it's not a great idea to do an OTA update while you're rooted. So I did just that and when prompted to restart the phone, it did and loaded directly in to TWRP. I tried to just reboot from there and it kept going back to TWRP. So I tried to recovery from a backup, same thing, right back to TWRP. Also, I can't get into download mode. What do I do?

This should help. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2451696
You need to first download the kdz and lg flash utility with drivers.
Install drivers
The factory reset deleting system, cache, internal sd.
Then shutdown your g2.
Start to downloaded mode connecting your g2
Flash kdz & voila... Done
I too bricked my phone before. My flashing stuck at 49%. Recovered using above method, all is well now
This works 1000%. I bet on it. Just remember to wipe the phone completely before flashing. You will return to stock with unrooted status in download mode. U will have your warranty back too

I'm having a strange time with my phone, I rooted the phone, by the guides on xda, everything went well, superSu was installed,
then I tried to flash a new recovery and a new kernel, but nothing worked, after some searching I found this AutoRec tool, it worked
the recovery changed to TWRP, so I tried to flash dorimanx again, and again nothing changed, the flashing was done, but after reboot still
no change with the kernel.
So I checked if the device is rooted, I did this on the begining of the process and it was, now, it showed that the device isn;t rooted.
Now I have a TWRP recovery, without root, and when I try to root, I have to press "apply update from adb..." but I dont have thing option anymore,
Thanks a lot for your help!

You can still root with custom recovery the difference is you need to go to advanced and sideload to be able to apply the root.zip, you can also look for the flashable supersu.zip and flash it from recovery and that will root your device

the flashing is over, but nothing new... it just doesnt install nothing... so strange..

I suggest you start over. Not sure if you performed wipes(wipe all except internal).
But
1. flash kdz
2. root
3. autorec
4. wipe wipe wipe(except internal)
5. install
6. profit
My phone came with version 66.77.... (MIUI 6) from the reseller.
I have installed TWRP, rooted the device using adb and then flashed 5.9.24. So far so good.
After some time i decided to try AOSP ROM. I made a backup in TWRP and then flashed AOSP using TWRP. No problems so far (cleared cache, dalvik etc)
Then I wanted to revert back to 5.9.24. I cleared cache dalvik etc, and then I cannot remember anymore if i have reflashed 5.9.24 or restored the backup made previously from TWRP, the thing I wasn't able to boot into recovery anymore. The phone was stuck on the teamwin logo if booted into recovery but normal boot was working fine.
Then i reflashed twrp using adb.
After doing that, my phone was still stuck on the teamwin logo when booting into recovery, but with normal booting i was getting infinite boot loops at Mi logo screen.
After several ours of tries, i was able to solve the normal booting problem by flashing the stock recovery (so the phone is now back on the 5.9.24 - and working fine) but when I try to flash twrp using adb the same symptoms as before:
- Recovery boot - stuck on teamwin logo screen
- Normal boot - boot loops
I already tried to flash via Updater app, Flashify and Windroid nothing worked.
Can anyone help me to get this custom recovery working, please?
Thanks
Regards,
Nick

i saw the request of the message but i am not using a custom recovery on my phone,i use a custom dev rom made by miui france.
i think some china dev rom comes rooted by default with custom installer updater and gapps like mine.
i think twrp is not fully compatible with this device yet.
Have you try with sp flash tool method ?

I just installed TWRP for the first time ever. I used the Flashify App from the Play Store, installed it and gave it root permissions and just selected the TWRP image on the phones internal store. Seemed to work just fine and did not have to plug my phone into a computer
Hey, My phone (LG G2 D802) is rooted ofcourse and I tried a few guides but none of them is working for me.
I tried for example to install the custom recovery through ROM manager, the app says that the version of my recovery is what I installed but then when I click on "get into recovery" it gets back to the regular lg g2 recovery.
any ideas for solutions?
I do have the same problem. Using autorec it successfully installs recovery and I can boot into it, but it bricks my system.
I use autorec to install twrp but if i want to go in recovery mode i use quick boot or similar (found them in google app store) and twrp run correctly.
if i want to go manually, old recovery appears, click yes and yes (erase data and confirm) and my g2 go on twrp.
can some1 explain this?
I installed the twrp 3.0.2.2 and after installed a kernel which made the phone stuck on zte logo.
I tried to flash to the stock files using this guide:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/axon-7/how-to/a2017g-nougat-b08-twrp-bootstack-t3696479v
but when i try to install the superSu the twrp stuck after extracing files, then the phone just shuts down.
what can I do?

Update your twrp, there's no need to use that old version... my phone reboots when it wants when it has opd twrp versions
Download twrp 3.1.1-0
Put it on your phone, maybe via adb or through mtp if you have it
Go to Install -> hit the button on the right that says 'Install image'
Find the TWRP.img and install it, it will prompt you where to install it, put 'recovery'
Followed you instructions, but now i cant get into TWRP or the OS ):
Tried to flash it with axon7tool on pc, but got the same result, but when I tried to flash the 3.0.2. again, it worked.

Don't use axon7tool for this... you already have TWRP, the only thing you have to use axon7tool for is to install twrp when you have the stock recovery. after you have twrp on the phone just try not to use the PC except for maybe miflash
I tried both of this options.
Flashing new version of twrp through the old twrp resulted in black screen when i try to get to recovery.
So I flashed the old twrp from the pc, tried to flash the new one using the same method but it the same as i flashed it through the old twrp. (which mean that when i get to the recovery i get black screen)
ATM the situation is the same, system wont boot stuck on zte logo, twrp is 3.0.2.2 (there is another method to flash newer twrp?)
There is another option?
After wiping system in twrp i was able to install supersu, which means i completed this guide
https://forum.xda-developers.com/axon-7/how-to/a2017g-nougat-b08-twrp-bootstack-t3696479v
but still stuck on zte logo after i reboot , any help?

Wait, what did you do? Did you install everything again after wiping system?
Ya, afte i wiped the system it allowed me to install the supersu without interrupts, but it did not helped.
Anyway i manged to install purefusion os, system booted up, after that the new twrp updated successfully.

You installed SuperSU without a system, and the phone did not boot up? Amirite?
what i did was wipe system dalvik cache, cache, after that install bootstack and the system files, and after that the supersu.
before i wiped the system, when i tried to install the supersu the twrp collapsed, after that it installed it but did not helped to make the system boot.
