A700fd proximity sensor - Galaxy A3, A5, A7, A8, A9 Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

I have a700fd on Indian firmware bpd4.
I noticed that the proximity sensor of my phone is continously working (?????). It is doing its job perfectly though.
Seeing it through another phone camera it shows continously flickering red light from the proximity sensor.
I want to know if it's normal for A700FD??
Can anyone confirm this?
I checked same with my note 5 and its not the same with that.

Hi,
The light sensor on my phone is not working.
I checked with the code *#0*# and it always shows the below status -
Light Sensor: 0 lux
Light Sensor:0,0,0,0 (R,G,B,W)
Can anyone tell me that this happens if the light sensor has failed or is there any way to fix it on my own.

How to Disable Proximity sensor

Got the digitize r replaced for lg g2 d802
since then, proximity sensor n light sensor are not working properly.. i lost the automatic brightness feature n whenever i make a call the screen turns off n doesnt turn on until the other person ends the call..

Thanks, i have oreo patch january and on my xiaomi, when the screen is off, stops flashing
Yep! It is blinking when the screen is on. (I'm on February Patch.)
I'm on February patch and not facing this behaviour. Maybe you have an app making phone work like this? Hope you solve it.

No, I don't have any application which does this. Check it by a camera ( I think it is infrared) and when the screen is ON.
My proximity sensor test
Same here also

I think it's a bug in new February Patch Stable Update
First of all, I can't reproduce it (used my work iPhone's camera, and yes iPhone sucks but it's for my job, no choice here ).
Second, are you sure it's a bug? Did you do similar check before Feb update?
I'm not a pro of phone hardware, but it seems normal to me that the sensor will be always working. I'm even using an app to wake the phone with the sensor (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jarsilio.android.waveup) so the sensor is working all the time, even with screen off.
It's not a bug, it's the same for a lot of phones, don't worry

thanks bro, I'm not sure it's a bug, however the sensor should only be activated for calls
It's not a bug. The proximity sensor is also used for auto brightness control.
When the proximity sensor is tripped, values from the light sensor is ignored, which means that screen brightness won't change even when the light sensor detects changes in ambient light.
This is useful for e.g. when you play a game or watching a movie in landscape and your hand covers the light sensor. The screen won't go dark, but stays at the same brightness. Without the proximity sensor activated, your screen would go dark every time you accidentally cover the light sensor with your hand.
Try turning off adaptive brightness and see if it's still on. It shouldn't be necessary to have the proximity sensor on all the time if you set the screen to a fixed brightness.

Ansar:
I m using maxpro m2 4gb varient.Recently, my phone has been having a problem with the proximity sensor during calls. When I finish a call, or want to look at my screen, the screen does not turn on by itself so I need to put my finger at proximity sensor then screen to light up or else the screen still goes black. This is very annoying! When i turn off ADAPTIVE BRIGHTNESS feature in Display options my problem resolved.what is this problem?? Am i only facing??
I also tested my sensors it is working and also my display is not covered with tampered glass etc..
