I can't get snapchat to work even with the rootcloak - X Style (Pure) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

It wont let me login at all on my rooted XT1575 with TruPureXMM and FranklenClark kernel.

You need to uninstall xposed, login then reflash xposed.

uninstall xposed as in using uninstaller.zip file via recovery. Then log into snapchat, once you login, you can flash xposed again. just be sure to never log out of snapchat, or else you will have to do this process again.

You can install snapchat on a virtual machine or android emulator (like bluestacks, nox), log in, and then use the option for root. Do a backup of the app in Titanium Backup and transfer the backup to your phone. After this, you can uninstall the emulator, but without log off snapchat.

Ugh I just went through this whole process, never have I installed xposed(didn't have a need for it) but when updating to the stock, rooted 6.0.1 ROM I had to use another device for a while, and got kicked off on the pure. It took 2 hours to figure out, even started changing the password. Eventually figured to install xposed via zip, let the app fail a log in, go back into twrp, unistall xposed using zip, reboot and log into snapchat... I could've avoided all of this had I not changed the password and restored data from a backup file but didn't catch onto it in time.
TL;DR: install xposed > try to log in, it'll fail > uninstall xposed using zip > reboot > log into snapchat > make a titanium backup of the snapchat app to keep for the future

[Q] SuperSU hidden/half enabled

I am running Nexus 7 with 4.2.1 build JOP40D.
After I got the 4.2.1 OTA update I noticed root was no longer working.
I went into Settings and Apps and disabled it and tried using SuperUser but discovered that it didn't work with 4.2.1
I used the Google Nexus_7_ToolKit_v4.0.0 and ran the root command choosing SuperSU which was the correct one for 4.2.1.
It did a cleanup of any other root stuff and successfully pushed root to the device.
It did not show up in the App Drawer, but does show up in Settings, Apps, All.
I tried again by sideloading via CWM recovery but there was no difference.
I then ran the toolkit to remove root, busybox, etc, then attempted to reinstall them both again.
I am still stuck with the same problem.
When running a root app such as Titanium Backup, it gets stuck at "asking for root rights" and not the 'you need to root your device' message.
Any help?
[edit]
When installing busybox it checks and says you should see the reply
system/xbin/busybox
but the reply I get is
system/bin/busybox
Is this a problem?

1. you need to flash the su binaries in your recovery, latest su binaries http://download.chainfire.eu/298/SuperSU/CWM-SuperSU-v0.99.zip
2. or you need to install busybox if you already flashed the binaries. you can find free busybox installer apps in the play store. best one is by stericson.
That's what confuses me. I have flashed the su binaries via recovery and also installed busybox.
Downloaded the busybox from Play Store now though. It can't install with root though.
Remember, SuperSU is showing up in Settings, Apps, All, it just doesn't seem to be usable or showing up in app drawer.

delete supersu from either /data/app/ or /system app/, wherever you have it installed. then reboot into recovery and wipe cache and dalvik. after, reboot and reinstall supersu app.
are you sure that you flashed the latest su binaries? if not sure, flash the one that i linked while youre in your recovery.

Thankyou again for your response.
I deleted superuser.apk using adb, then cleared the caches. I then rebooted recovery, sideloaded the latest superuser (from the link provided) and then booted into Android.
Same as before. Superuser is not in the app drawer, but can be seen in settings.
Remember when I said I disabled it in Settings, Apps?
Well it turns out that Google remembers this, even when the app is removed and reinstalled. It will not show that it is disabled when you check it in Settings though.
To fix, I disabled again, then enabled it. Boom fixed.
Feel rather sheepish now.
Although you pushed me to learn quite a bit more about adb so thanks for that!

Get Snapchat to work With Root?

Hi guys! I cant log in or make a new acct on Snapchat with my g4 plus rooted on stock N, is there a workaround?
Thanks
You can't make new account with root enabled! Try hide root or Magisk and try creating again

Here's a fairly easy way to solve this:
- Unroot your phone
- Install Snapchat and login
- Root
- Install Titanium backup
- Backup Snapchat
- Go to your Internal Storage>Titanium Backup, and copy the gzip files from there to an SDCard or back it up to the cloud.
Now, if you ever flash another custom ROM all you have to do is install Titanium Backup and restore A bit complicated, but it's a 1-time issue and works pretty well.
Oh, and btw, Magisk works fine, so try that instead of SuperSU.
So I can root with magisk instead of super SU? I Tried phh and got stuck on bootlooping!
I Tried unrooting with super SU and didnt work Will try to flash the stock back to do that
1. Flash Magisk from recovery.
2. Install Magisk Manager from the play store.
3. In settings (Magisk Manager), enable Magisk Hide.
4. Go your merry way.
This is what I did. I'm using the likes of Snapchat, Pokémon Go and Mario Run.
And yes, you can log into Snapchat.

The latest Magisk zip is here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/official-magisk-v7-universal-systemless-t3473445
You need to flash it in TWRP. I recommend completely unrooting from SuperSU or phh.
Also, stock kernel is incompatible with Magisk. Flash ElementalX or Vegito if you wish to use Magisk.
So, in this order:
-Unroot
-Flash Kernel (EX or Vegito)
-Flash Magisk (will automatically install MagiskSU)
-Wipe ART/dalvik cache
-Boot
-Install Magisk Manager, presto, ur done

Snapchat on LG V20 rooted and TWRP unlocked device

Hello,
Right now I'm having the biggest issue with Snapchat, I've read numerous posts that say that if your phone is rooted or you have XPosed framework installed then Snapchat will not allow you to login, this is the issue I'm having.
I don't have a backup either of the latest data and app of Snapchat to put it on my phone and Titanium Restore it.. Or else I would have done this first.
I don't have Xposed installed (app) but I'm not sure about the framework? How do I check, or remove it in case I do have it installed? I faintly remember installing it.
Is there any alternative to allow me to login to Snapchat?
Thanks!
Download the latest super user zip file.. Lets say you know how to reboot to twrp.
*First of all open the super user app and go to the setting and unroot it.
*It would ask you to confirm it, after that a new screen will pop up, cancel it has to with wiping all super user and recovery files.
*So make sure you get the superuser from xda latest..then put it on your sd card or internal memory.
*Do not flash it yet.
*Unroot and reboot the phone, then login to snapchat. It should be successful.
*Reboot to twrp and flash the zip file
Good luck
This worked, thank you!!!
You could also use a root hider or switcher, such as magisk, and not have to switch and do reboots each time

Uninstalling OGYoutube?

Hello, a while back i installed OGYoutube for my OP5, however i want to try the new iYTBP but that means i have to uninstall the old mod. However i cannit seem to get it to remove.
I think i flashed it with TWRP and it was a magisk module, so i tried uninstalling it wirh magisk but it still remains. And i do not have the old file so i cannot twrp flash it again.
It came with a 2nd app named OGsettings and downloads.
Does anyone know how to uninstall both please, i used an u install app with root access and it didnt work, the phone jist reboots and its still there.
Thanks in advance!
Go into TWRP, mount system, then go to the file manager and delete it from there
thanks, that worked perfectly!

Snapchat working on Locked bootloader with xposed and super su

This is just to inform the community that there is a way to get snapchat, and maybe other apps, working with root/Xposed and a locked bootloader
Step 1) install safestrap
Step 2) turn off/uninstall Xposed, uninstall all system mods (such as liveboot), unstall super su via unsu.zip (can be found by simple search on xda and flashed via safestrap.
Step 3) (not sure if required just what I did) uninstall snapchat if you have it installed, clear data on Google play store, play services and play services for instant apps.
Step 4) reinstall snapchat though Google play, login.
Step 5) without logging out boot back into safestrap and reinstall super su (I use the 2.79 zip from chainfire as the 2.82 is made by a Chinese company and freezes on partycyborg for s8.
Step 6) reboot and enable/ reinstall Xposed and your system mods if you wish. You will stay signed into Snapchat until you sign out.
Step 7) Enjoy
Tested on SM-G950U AT&T running partycyborg samfail.
yes its been known
Definitely already known. It's usually said to log into snapchat while root/xposed is disabled. Not a long drawn out process. Just disable xposed and root, reboot, log in, reenable.
