Hi there -
Is there anyway to boost the volume (over the 3.5mm jack) that is being output by my s7 edge? It is incredibly low and I have to put it past the "safe listening level" for it to even sound reasonable.
Since I'm running the s7 edge on verizon with SD820, I don't think there is a way to root my device and get something like Viper4Android. Is there any other ways to increase the output, perhaps without root?
Unfortunately, it's not possible without root.

to get viper audio you need:
1. root acces
2. busybox installed
3. selinux changer.
Try poweramp alpha for local music and use the preamp slider

Hello guys, I just want to ask if it is normal for i9505 s4 to have low volume sound on using headphones even on full volume?
I tried the same headphones on an itouch and it is much louder on full volume and when i tried it on s4, the volume is just half as the itouch volume even on full.
Thanks.
I too have an iPod Touch and at full volume it can be slightly louder than the S4 but I don't listen to my music at full volume so it doesn't bother me. If you're still running the stock ROM, you can try using Adapt Sound. Works only with the stock music player though.

With my IEMs I find it loud enough. As mentioned if you use the stock music player run adapt sound it increases the volume.
Otherwise you can install a kernel like Faux kernel and he has implemented sound control you can increase the gain and boost volume even louder if you wish.
Or you can install Viper4Android and boost volume on that too.

Thanks for the reply guys. I just got my s4 and I'm currently afraid of flashing stuff and etc..
Will flashing a new kernel/rom trigger my knox status? it currently have 0x0.
Two things that annoy me with the N4 are
1) the camera, how long it takes to focus and snaps pictures that are blurry because of very minor shaking.
2) The native output-volume of music - both on headphones or using AUX cable in a car - the volume is very low.
So, any Camera app that fixes the stated focus problem? Any music player that produces higher-output volume?
The first one is better if you put it in Action mode or at least without HDR. And the second is just the hardware.

Volume can be improved with apps like poweamp which has a built in pre amp. (No root needed) also volume+ root and no root.
I believe there is also a build prop tweak that can also improve volume but I haven't tried obviously root needed. Hope this helps.

Theres a sound mod called ViPER4Android too, check it out http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=48176162#post48176162

Franco Kernel also boosts speaker and headphones. I boosted headphones by 8 for noisy places like flights.
Hey guys. Every single time I insert a cable into the headphone jack of the S 5, the volume is automatically set to like 70% for "safe listening" and must be manually adjusted back to a higher volume if desired. I have already disabled the message that appears notifying this, however the volume still gets adjusted. I actually mostly use the headphone jack for my car audio, so safe listening is not useful for that case.
I am wondering if there is a setting I'm missing or if it must be (already is?) modded to not lower the volume upon inserting headphones.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
I have the same problem. Safe listening never applies to me because I am either in the car or using have impedance headphones that need 90% volume to produce correct levels. I'll let you know if I find a way.

Hearing Saver app in play store works great for that.

This seems to work well, but I'd like to forgo using an additional app for this. Thank you, though!
I have used my Beats Powerbeats 2 bluetooth headphones every day for months. With my GS5 about half volume was as I needed while running but since getting the S7, full volume is not as loud as half volume was before. I have tried a couple of those volume increasing apps but nothing seems to work. Anyone else notice a decrease in Bluetooth volume? Any fix for it?
Probably viper4android when root is attained.

Hi guys.
Since Android 4.0 I've used this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.smartandroidapps.equalizer Equalizer app from the store ... even more-so since going to the S7 Edge as the volume going to my car's bluetooth sound system left a bit to be desired. This app requires you to kill the SoundsAlive built-in service so there aren't two EQ apps running. And yes, before you ask, I've tried it with and without SoundsAlive.
Now after the Nougat update (official OTA on Friday) both the volume and bass boost in this app do nothing, and I mean NOTHING. The slider for them won't even move from the off/lowest position.
I've tried using the internal speaker, wired headphones, and bluetooth - all just sit there and look at me like I'm stupid.
So I went even one step further and did a full wipe of the phone . It still sits there and does nothing.
With all that having been said , can anyone point me to a good EQ app that also has volume/bass boost capabilities that also work through Bluetooth on our beloved S7 Edge? Whatever app it is MUST work without Root!
Any recommendations are greatly appreciated - those two functionalities are a MUST HAVE for me.
Thanks for any feedback!

I used this for MM, but should work with Nougat. Give it a try, best thing next to Viper4Android IMHO

If you're rooted I really recommend viper4android 2.3.4.0
