Edge Dual version - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

I notice consistently that this version retails online cheaper than the standard version. How come?
I tried to see if there was a difference specs-wise outside of the two SIM cards but didn't see a difference.

No difference with G935F except the dual sim slot neither firmware

Does the dual sim version also support a SD card ?
Not sure about that.
I found in the specs:
microSD, up to 200 GB (uses SIM 2 slot) - dual-SIM model
So if you use both SIM slots, then no SD card.

Thanks.

But there is a work around that allows both SIM shots AND the memory card. I'm using it very well for more than two months now.
Here is the thread:

Is 1+2 dual sim Active?

its a standby !! one sim ll be active and another ll be on standby mode when u r going to receive the call simultaneously on both the sim cards !! so when u r already on call with primary sim card slot one and somebody called u on another sim slot, u will not be notified and that person ll receive a autocall message as - u r out of network !!
well that makes sense too, because if both the sim slots are on active mode, battery drain ll be high. however, their are certain group of smartphones who uses both Active mode on both the sim slots !! #htc #samsung !!
i hope this clears everything !! feel free to press thanks if u think i helped u and others as well !
in the european version i now is dual active
Global is dual standby

Oneplus 2 dual sim setup
Sorry to dig up an old thread. I recently got my Oneplus 2 A2005 version and was wondering if my dual sim setup would work. I am from Canada, British Columbia and I intend to use two sim cards. Sim card 1 will be for data only through the carrier Fido. Sim card 2 will be for voice calls and text only through the carrier Petro-Canada Mobility. Below are some information for the two carriers:
Fido: 4G LTE uses Band 17-700MHz, Band 4-AWS, Band7-2600MHz
Petro-Canada Mobility: 2G GSM uses 850MHz, 1900MHz
My question is, with this setup, will I be able to use my Fido 4G LTE data while connected to a voice call using Petro-Canada Mobility?
No see any reason why it wouldn't work

Really hope that the 2nd sim slot is not hybrid with microSD slot. Rather a dedicated sim slot (3 slots in total) like some models of Galaxy A7 (2016) & A9
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I reality hope for dual sim so I don't have to get a mate 8
It will be pretty sure as they have launched Dual sim version of all their flagships in last two years like Note 4 / 5 & GS5 / 6.
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Read on GsmArena that dual sim version will have a hybrid micoSD card / dual sim slot.

If true then it's dead in the water, you'd be better off getting an S6.

But why? Even the single SIM variant S7 is tons better than the S6.

Because the biggest flaw is the lack of space on the S6.
Why would I get an S7 with 32gb of space when using two sims, instead of a cheaper 64gb/128gb Galaxy S6?
It takes better low light pictures and is waterproof.... that's it, nobody really cares about CPU/GPU performance anymore.
Will see what happens when the S8 is released.

I see your point about the cheaper storage, but what about battery life and better software? (Remember the crappy memory management that hit the S6?) As for your point about CPU and GPU, the S7 now comes with the SD820 as opposed to the Exynos in the North American model. This means that developers are gonna have a much easier time developing for the device as Qualcomm has much better source updates than Samsung. In any case, it's your opinion that counts, but just thought I'd shine some light on that.
On an on-topic note, I'd like to know if the dual SIM works with the North American model as I have two SIMs.

Depends how much of the code they share, I remember the old days of custom Galaxy roms where the pictures on CM were pretty bad compared to stock due the closed camera source.
Battery life really depends on the user, and running custom tends to fix it, having an extra 400mah won't set the world on fire as the biggest drain is the screen - which is exactly the same.
I just think it's a very hard sell to users who run two sims, especially when you only have to wait another 12 months for the next phone. I also doubt they will do what huawei do with their phones and ship the dual sim/sd card hybrid version worldwide, will probably still be branded 'duos' and in limited supply.

If it's true I stay my my Dual SIM GS5 or buy a G Note 4 Dual
I need to use 2 sims, and I need to use the sd card..... I don't know how in Samsung's wisdom they came up with hybrid idea!!!!!!!! LG G5 will be my next phone for the dedicated slots
The dual sim hybrid tray is surely region dependant. In Netherlands I have checked all sites with pre-ordering, there is no dual sim here. All sites are mentioning single nano sim. A few posts back someone mentioned dual sim version as official in Belgium, seems a strange news...If it is so, I'm going to get one from there.

Seems as a legit list
Not that many versions with dual sim tho:
SM-G9300 (china), G9308/9 (china), G930FD (asia)
Has anybody seen Dual Sim S7 or S7 edge version with 64GB built in. Reason being 32GB is too limited for me. Will be really interested in a 64GB version.

SD card does not help ?
With Dual Sim, SD card slot is taken by 2nd Sim. It is a hybrid slot. Either 2nd Sim or SD card. If it would have been both, the perfect phone for me.

Will that be the solution ????

I'm wondering if you just buy dual sim tray (international version)
I'm pretty sure that the US version doesn't support dual sim feature.
Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk
Damn this looks pretty cool though. I wonder if T-Mobile changed something the software to make this not possible..
Dual sim only works on international models that have two sim trays and two imei numbers. None of the US carrier versions support this.

Who's attempting for 2 sims and a sd card together hack ??

All must be aware that S7 is capable of using 2 sims as well as Micro sd card at same time as demonstrated by user at
http://bgr.com/2016/03/24/galaxy-s7-tricks-dual-sim-microsd/
Any one successfully did this hack ??
Or going to attempt??

Little risky but gonna try sometime.
One pro-tip: To save your battery usage its recommended to use one sim as battery drain will be significantly much faster with 2 active sim cards. But that's just me.

I just did it on my SM-G935FD (S7 Edge dual sim). Works well so far.
see my post http://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/help/insert-2-nano-sim-micro-sd-card-t3342709
Hmm is the S7 used different from the 'normal' G935F? I thought there are different types with dual sim and without... i also do not have a tray with dual sim. But i wonder if i could buy a tray and have dual sim. Stupid question maybe, but the link does not refer to a basic dual sim s7 edition. They just write s7.

Do the 2 trays have the exact same size and be inserted in any S7 edge phones? Cause I'm in Europe so my tray can't accept 2 simcards at all, it's 1 simcard and 1 sdcard.
Cause if they are of the exact same size, I'd like to try and buy one and try this

The user dbux stated that the problem is not the tray, but the phone. According to his point of view, only FD models have pins for the second sim. I'm very confused!!

Obviously you need the dual sim fd model to try this, they're only sold in asia. Dont try anything.

Not sure what the confusion is, this can only be done on dual sim fd phones.
@peachpuff
We know that this can only be done on dual sim fd phones. Vivelafrance and I would like to do a different thing. What? We would like to insert the tray of FD model in F model to see if F model read two sim cards.

Then modify the sim tray with a knife so a nano sim fits in the sd slot, still don't think it'll work though.

Dual sim support

How to check if my device support dual sim? I bought it in Israel.

Just pop the sim tray open if it is dual-sim, you may put a sim card, parallel to the first one, where your microSD slot is.
And I believe that the mention 'FD' will denote double sim models. For instance in all likelihood, if you go to Settings>About phone, your model number will be 'SM-G950FD' if it is dual sim, SM-G950F (or some other letters, cannot remember all the international variants) if it is single-sim.
If it doesn't support dual sim is there any way to fix it. For example by changing the tray. Or there should be support on a hardware level?
