Really hope that the 2nd sim slot is not hybrid with microSD slot. Rather a dedicated sim slot (3 slots in total) like some models of Galaxy A7 (2016) & A9
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I reality hope for dual sim so I don't have to get a mate 8
It will be pretty sure as they have launched Dual sim version of all their flagships in last two years like Note 4 / 5 & GS5 / 6.

Read on GsmArena that dual sim version will have a hybrid micoSD card / dual sim slot.

Because the biggest flaw is the lack of space on the S6.
Why would I get an S7 with 32gb of space when using two sims, instead of a cheaper 64gb/128gb Galaxy S6?
It takes better low light pictures and is waterproof.... that's it, nobody really cares about CPU/GPU performance anymore.
Will see what happens when the S8 is released.

I see your point about the cheaper storage, but what about battery life and better software? (Remember the crappy memory management that hit the S6?) As for your point about CPU and GPU, the S7 now comes with the SD820 as opposed to the Exynos in the North American model. This means that developers are gonna have a much easier time developing for the device as Qualcomm has much better source updates than Samsung. In any case, it's your opinion that counts, but just thought I'd shine some light on that.
On an on-topic note, I'd like to know if the dual SIM works with the North American model as I have two SIMs.

Depends how much of the code they share, I remember the old days of custom Galaxy roms where the pictures on CM were pretty bad compared to stock due the closed camera source.
Battery life really depends on the user, and running custom tends to fix it, having an extra 400mah won't set the world on fire as the biggest drain is the screen - which is exactly the same.
I just think it's a very hard sell to users who run two sims, especially when you only have to wait another 12 months for the next phone. I also doubt they will do what huawei do with their phones and ship the dual sim/sd card hybrid version worldwide, will probably still be branded 'duos' and in limited supply.

If it's true I stay my my Dual SIM GS5 or buy a G Note 4 Dual
I need to use 2 sims, and I need to use the sd card..... I don't know how in Samsung's wisdom they came up with hybrid idea!!!!!!!! LG G5 will be my next phone for the dedicated slots
The dual sim hybrid tray is surely region dependant. In Netherlands I have checked all sites with pre-ordering, there is no dual sim here. All sites are mentioning single nano sim. A few posts back someone mentioned dual sim version as official in Belgium, seems a strange news...If it is so, I'm going to get one from there.

SD card does not help ?
With Dual Sim, SD card slot is taken by 2nd Sim. It is a hybrid slot. Either 2nd Sim or SD card. If it would have been both, the perfect phone for me.

Hey There,
Great Post. Seems good to have people already sharing useful information like that.
As a personal request though. Your signature size is a bit unreasonable. Could you please consider resizing or doing something else about it?
Thankyou
I want one if the price difference isn't too bad.
dual sim card sounds interesting, I'd have no need for it though. lol deftone
If it has the same specs as the Note II this will be a dual sim 3G world phone. Are there any other Android dual sim 3G world phones out there?
I wouldn't have a need for one but I guess it could come in handy if i wanted to put a prepaid sim in it.

Maybe, look on Google for ROMs for a regular device with a dual-sim variant. For example, the Galaxy Pocket and the Pocket Duos. They have the same specs just like the Note 2 and the Note 2 Duos do so look to see if anybody has flashed a Pocket ROM on their Pocket Duos. If they did, then I guess it would work.I think you can probably find it in a couple of days. Or you could order from China Mobile, the carrier with the device, and have it ship to you.

Dual SIM Note 2 would be awesome for a backpacking holiday. Local SIM as primary, with home SIM as secondary with its super expensive roaming charges. Each time you change country just swap out the primary.
I wasn't sure about Note 2 vs Note 1 but with 64GB internal, 64GB SD, dual SIM and Seidio case with kick stand and holster it will be an iresistable killer combo
Adding decent GPS App with locally stored maps and an external range boosting antenna would make it the ultimate travel phone

Sounds Good!
does anyone know what dual sim entails? can you have 1 sim for mobile broadband (with telco provider a) and 1 sim for minutes, SMS (with a separate telco provider b)?
both reading at the same time. the note 2 knows which one to use and when? so you don't clock up data on the wrong sim, and calls and SMS on the other?
thanks
The "classical" Samsung DuoS phones (at least mine and others I had in hand) let you choose a primary card that is used for everything by default and a special button that allows you to choose the secondary SIM card before making a call or sending sms. Web connection and other services always run from the primary card. Changing the assignment of the primary card causes a reboot.
Both networks are actively receiving calls/sms.
How this one is (or would be) done is hard to tell, not many people had it in hand (if it really exists). Unfortunately, probably not many people ever will.
Personally, I need two networks, so I carry a "phablet" without SIM plus classical DualSIM phone. DuoS Note would be cool.

Hi Friends,
This Thread is about the Dual sim version of MotoG( A budget friendly Phone with premium specs launched by Motorola). Apparently its not been released yet. I sense its soon going to be!
I know there are Guys ( l̶i̶k̶e̶ ̶y̶o̶u̶ .. like Us) out there who want to support the Development section ( Custom ROM development , Kernel development etc.)
The Developers need to witness your support so that they decide to develop for MotoG Dual-Sim Edition.
So Join us (Replying/Thanks) below in this Thread and show interest so that we have everything ready by the time MotoG gets released!!
Remember,
More Support -> More Developers show Interest -> More Mods, Tweaks and Customisation follows.

Will single sim ROMs work on the dual sim phone? Even if with just one sim. I just need one but the dual sim version is cheaper here.
Already released here in Brazil (8 gb single sim, 16/8 gb dual sim). Hope there will be development for de dual sim version.

I am rather surprised to know that a Dual sim version costs less than the single sim phone.
coming to your Q. single sim Roms may work on a dual sim phone. but its neither advisable nor required as the Dual sim variant will get its own RoM s.
BTW from where do you belong?

I am from Brazil. Actually, from Motorola's store the single sim is cheaper, but it isn't sold outside Motorola's website. As other stores charge less for the phone, and they don't sell the single sim, the dual chip is cheaper than the single one from Motorola.
I would also like to know whether a Custom Rom can be developed for the Dual SIM version. I would like to buy it because of the 16gb internal memory, and I don't care about a second SIM - if a custom rom works as a single chip mode in this device, I would be very happy!
Anyone have any idea whether this is possible?

At that price, I will stick with a single SIM one
So the dual-sim edition has only started shipping in late November but only in Brazil so far?
Any quick reviews yet? I think people are especially interested in learning how the differentiating dual-sim function has been implemented. E.g. can both sims operate data and voice simultaneously and how are the two connections managed (interface)?
I have a coworker in Brazil, and i asked him to buy me a moto g. If he cant i probably will ask to felipeap to bring one to Spain

Hybrid dual sim is not supported with the UK/EUROPE model SM-G935F.
You may call the sim tray "Hybrid" or whatever, but it will only accommodate your single microSim and your microsSD card.

To me it will be possible to get a "hybrid" sm-G935FD from Russia, India, United Arab Emirates, China, indonesia. ....
Just check the local Samsung web pages:
samsung.com/ae/consumer/mobile-devices/smartphones/galaxy-s/galaxy-s7/hardware/
and change the country after samnsung.com/
ae is for United Arab Emirates/in for india/cn for China/ru for Russia ......
You will see on those pages the possibility of dual sim.
If you check the french page (fr) or japanese (jp) there is no dual sim option
I am looking for a S7 edge dual sim 64gb and it's going to be difficult to find ....

No idea but for me im on three network on the UK and based on a previous purchase 4G worked fine
Its intersting to know that in the UAE its a snapdragon processor with dual sim standby
For me i need two sims and sd, i might attempt doing the sd/sim hack to take full advantage of the phone
For shipping from UAE i paid around 35£ to ship 2 phones with super fast delivery after march 11
Good luck and i hope this helps !

Then modify the sim tray with a knife so a nano sim fits in the sd slot, still don't think it'll work though.
But which model? I'd go for the regular S7 but I'd like the slightly larger screen, but I need Exynos, the 3.5mm jack, SD card expansion. I use Straight talk, so I'd like to be able to use the AT&T SIM or the Verizon SIM. I know the G930U is the right one for S7, but I seem to have a hard time finding information on which S7 Edge comes with all network capabilities, along with Exynos, SIM/SD Card slot. Thank you all in advance, I know you all are the best on these forums!

I know the G930U is the right one for S7, but I seem to have a hard time finding information on which S7 Edge comes with all network capabilities, along with Exynos, SIM/SD Card slot. Thank you all in advance, I know you all are the best on these forums!

all the S7 edges share the same chassis, so they all have the headphone jack and sd card slot. What makes you think you need the xynos version? If you want to use at&t, youre fine, but the verizon sim will not work in a xynos powered device. They are gsm only. Get a used G935V. Tehy are sim unlocked out of the box (or at least should be) and will work on both of your carrier choices

I see I was wrong on a few things. Was just hoping to get the Exynos for the improved battery life/talk time and rooting/flashing rom capability. Have been doing some more research today and it looks like even if i did get a Exynos model, they are Region locked. The Verizon part was just a bonus, but I see Exynos isn't capable running CDMA, my thoughts were to possibly run a Verizon card and a AT&T card in a Dual Sim version.
Looks like I won't get getting any Exynos the way it looks.
Any reason to get a G935V over a G935U?
Edit - I would take any recomendations on a phone with good service, SD card and 3.5mm jack, that is sub- $300. Need something to replace this Nexus 4.
Thanks!

i dont think the S7's with the exynos chips are region locked. I run a galaxy A8 (2018) that was built for the UAE and its about as un-region locked as you can get. If i was to recommend any of them, id recommend the 935f. It has everything youre looking for and shouldnt have any issue working on AT&T towers stateside, which is also where im at. Oh, and for that price range, youre not short for choice. Look at xiaomi redmi devices. i bought 2 of them and they are actually great phones for the price. The only reason theyre not in use today is due to one word. teenagers. They broke the screens on them and thats not a fault of the phone, theyve broken 3 since... each.

Ahh that's interesting. I was looking at a few of the "tough" off brand phones and they looked great. I ended up with a regular S7 to try get going for my dad, and really liked it. Had planned on getting an S9 as I thought the price would have dropped alot more with the S10 launch. 300 imo is already a ton to drop on 1 phone, as I need 2, 1 for the wife.
I ended up finding a pair of brand new G935F's for $600 on ebay, so I went with those!! Thanks for all the info, it definitely helped!

glad to hear you got what you needed thats what we are here for!!
Just an update. The G935F's I received. Neither one would work right with the AT&T Straight Talk sims. I have a feeling they were region locked, but nothing came up about that on the phones. They were brand new in the box. Neither 935F wanted to recognize the sims, but they would intermediately recognize the sims, and if calling would work, data and text wouldn't, and vice-versa. It was a 12 hour nightmare of trying to get them to work right, and the bit of service I did get when they would work, was very shoddy.
I ended up sending them back, getting a full refund, no issues, and ordered 2 brand new Pixel XL's G-2PW2100. I'm glad I did as I can pretty much freely switch between AT&T Sim and Verizon sim.
Just wanted to update for anyone in the US wanting to use an international samsung phone, they don't work properly. Rip Exynos.
