LEMFO LEM1 Smart watch with Custom Band. Must See. - Other SmartWatches

I brought the watch last week, the watch and band on amazon for $77. It works pretty good with my Huawei Mediapad X2 and my LG HBS-900 headset. It works pretty good with the headset set for phone bluetooth and the watch set for media bluetooth and contact sharing. Only problem is when both are enabled you cant answer the phone from the watch because phone is set for headset. But you will get notification who calls, emails, calendar, or anything you have enabled. You can use the application they provide with the scan or goto the playstore and download the mediatek smartdevice app. They are the same. Far as I know any of them are the same, I tested a few of them, they just have different names with the same exact layout. The mediatek will let you scan for firmware update. THey are selling it as a 320x320 but in the hardware details it is listed as 240x240, but thats cool, it is still clear and sharp. Just need more faces. I will find out how to add them. Some one the planet has to have modded the watch.

Stand Alone VS Phone Companion

Hi Everyone
I would like to hear what smartwatch Mode do you think is the best : Stand Alone or Phone Companion and answer some questions:
1.Standalone Mode what will be in this mode the most important and what you will use the most?
2.Phone Companion Mode : What you will use the most in this mode and what you will want to have ?
3.Phone Companion Mode : When you will receive a phone call do you think you will like to answer from your smartphone or your smartwatch ?
4.What Mode you will think use the most ?
5.Someone that use yet a smartwatch how is your experience what is not practical, what did you not like?
Specify the model and if its was a Standalone or a Phone Companion.
Thanks

Hi Damien, you probably know my reply already since we discussed it off-line
For me Companion mode is the most important. I would like to receive notifications of who is calling (so I can keep my phone on mute most and out of sight), notifications of txt message and being able to view it on the smartwatch (typically an easy implementation since its a short plain unformatted text), notification of calendar events so I don't miss a meeting or an upcoming appointment, and email notifications with a preview of the message.
In my personal opinion, answering call from a phone is optional but not necessary. Phone call is a private thing. I just would like to see who is calling and then make a decision if I want to dismiss the call (maybe with a simple rejection button or an option to send a few pre-defined txt messages like "i'm busy" or "will call you back soon"). If I need to pick up the call, I can always get my phone out of the pocket or pick up the call on bluetooth headset. With text message and calendar events, as I mentioned above, it is nice to preview on the screen of the smartwatch where I think 1.54"+ display is big enough to preview simple short text. With emails, it would be nice to see who is it from and body of the text. I wouldn't expect replying back from the watch; if its important and needs my immediate attention - I will take out my phone and type away the reply.
Of course, music control (of the songs on the phone and also songs stored on internal to smartwatch microSD card) would be important. Also, getting weather notifications from the phone is a big plus, as well as battery status of your smartphone.

Hi vectron
Thanks to taking your time to answer to all my questions, interesting suggestions like to see the battery status of your smartphone on your smartwatch seems to me a great Idea....
Just one question A.I Watch have a music player and you can play music directly from your A.I Watch, so why can be interesting to control your smartphone music from A.I Watch?

If you pair up your smartwatch with a phone (wireless through bluetooth), your smartwatch becomes a controller just like any wireless headphone with playback control. That's how it works with a Pebble, Metawatch, and any other basic smartwatch. It becomes very useful when you are streaming music from your phone to external wireless speaker and can control playback right from your smartwatch.

Hi Vectron
Thanks for your reply
Yes but If I am correct on all those smartwatches that you mention you dont have the possibility to add music directly on the smartwatch and due of that not able to connect them to a Bluetooth speaker directly you always need to past from your smartphone....
You dont think its useless on a stand alone smartwatch ??

Yes, you are correct. Those other smartwatches don't have internal storage, so it makes sense to use them as wireless controller for audio playback on your smartphone. With AI Watch, TrueSmart and others you have an option of internal storage. As a matter of fact, I often use my TS as mp3-player on a wrist with my wireless headphones paired up directly. So in a way, its redundant to either play music from your watch or use your watch to control your music on the phone, since you can pair up external speaker directly to your watch. I do see your point now.
I believe there is a need for both a Standalone and a Companion. A standalone is great for those of us who have to carry two phones all the time. I know many people at work who have to carry their work phone and a personal phone, and at work the only thing the personal gets used for is checking email and taking calls from the wife. To be able to use the watch for that while still carrying the work phone for use all day would be great. And to be clear, the watch would ONLY be used for the personal as a standalone, and not also a companion for the work phone at the same time.
As a companion, which is how I use my Smartq Zwatch now is fairly useful, but would be infinitely more useful if: 1. Low power Bluetooth internet tethering; and 2. I need the option to let the watch make changes to the phone. I bought this watch so that I could see when I received text and email messages without pulling my phone out of my pocket but now I find that every time I receive a message I have to delete it from my phone AND my watch which actually make MORE steps in the process in stead of making the process easier. If I could have the option to "Delete Message From Phone?" Each time I deleted the message on the watch then it would make the process faster.
Just my two cents.

While running today I had a thought. I use my smartwatch with my Galaxy Note 3. The phone is really big but I love the s pen, the media capabilities, and the battery life. But there are times when I'd rather not carry such a big phone so I keep an old galaxy Nexus lying around. What would be really cool would be to have all the cellular capabilities built into my watch with the ability to bluetooth tether lte data through the watch and into the phone. The the phone mfg's could make sick devices without having to include radios. Instead of having to pay $700 for this phone I could have bought a Note 8 for like $300. I know the watch would be more expensive, but some are already paying $300+ for a watch AND $600 for a phone.
Then when I go running for instance, the watch could connect via bluetooth to my headset and I wouldn't have to carry around my phone at all since this screen does nothing for me while running.

So, is there a watch (ZGPAX, SmartQ, HOT) which does all of this today ? I don't see why this would be so hard today. Doesn't Android allow applications to communicate with notification manager. Isn't it just a matter of pushing all your notifications from phone to watch ? This is for messaging and phone calls. For email and other apps, update happens automatically on all devices which shouldnt need anything special to work on a watch

Hi ofsinreno
Thanks for all your suggestions, A.I Watch definitely do that we working on a Phone companion app by Bluetooth, and not Bluetooth tethering to be more battery efficient for both side, for now we succeed to get notifications etc...We still testing everything with different Android versions.
Hi cyrux004
Yes you are right all the smartwatches that you mention have this possibility but for the ZGPAX and SmartQ its by Bluetooth tethering and its not at all battery efficient. for the Hot is not a stand alone smartwatch so only the Phone companion option.
A Bluetooth app of this kind is new for everyone so actually not a lot of developers know how to develop it.

I always carry two numbers. My company number rings the most and having that sim in my smart watch instead of having two phones would be easier for me. Options like camera, media, anti theft, sdcard and internal storage are something I need for everyday use. Wifi is a must and if possible since the watch can use simcard I can use gps and edge to connect if no wifi is available. I know for some of this may seem too much but I prefer my smart watch to be a back up for my phone just in case and also have the option of controlling my phone remotely.

New U8

Got my U8 today and here's my initial impression:
Plus - 1. Immediately went to English, no Chinese. EZ setup. 2. Several choices for watch faces. Several choices for menu icons. Some are color and big. 3. Love the vibration for notification. 4. Speaker while on phone good. 5. Phone pick up works good.
Cons - 1. Washes out in sunlight bad. That's a show stopper for me. 2. Have to turn off phone Bluetooth and use handset for a private call. Switch is in my phone app and simple but still. 3. I use Touchdown for email and it doesn't notify on the watch. Working on that. 4. Band seems a bit 'soft', not hard rubber.
Added Con - Not having the watch face constantly lit is driving me nuts!

I was just looking at one of these on ebay today. Are you able to reply to text messages through it? Does it have voice input as well as a keyboard?

I bought a Pebble. Regardless of whether the U8 has voice input or not if I can't see the face they it's useless to me. And outside that is the case. If that doesn't matter then I'd be willing to sell you mine for a cheaper price than you'll get on line. Wore it a total of 2 days.

LOL good choice! The longer I have my Pebble the better I like it.
Just got mine today
Hey Roger,
Been following another thread ("Elegance U8") and now this one since ordering mine off Ebay a week ago. Got it in the mail today, and I can see your points for both pro and con.
Here are my questions, if anyone knows. (yet)
I remember seeing what the actual phone OS is called somewhere, but can't find it now. EDIT: It's called "Nucleus." Have found some info and a sample download online. Might try and see if I can learn how to develop for it.Though the device plays nice with Android and ios, it's actually neither of those things. If someone knows what the name of it is, is it possible to find a tutorial on coding it somewhere?
The initial reason I ask is:
Not waiting for the manufacturer to patch the "shut off screen" function. I'd like to see if I can figure out how to do this myself, and
Enabling texting. Rather than a traditional keyboard, am thinking a sliding alphabet. A - slide to B - slide to C, etc. A pain in the butt, but probably less so than trying to use a keyboard. Picture the "carousel" from the Kindle Fire series, but with letters / numbers / symbols. Also, as suggested earlier in this thread texting with use of the mic, if possible.
Not saying I'd be able to do any of this, but I have limited experience doing some dev work in Android (through Unity) and am wondering if it's possible to self teach this OS, figuring that we quite probably won't see a lot of feature updates from whoever the manufacturer is of this product.
Thanks, and God bless.
If you do develop, please keep us updated. i like the watch but would love to be able to reply to messages. let me know if i can help any also in the development
Does anyone have the latest firmware for the smart watch?
Mine is: M28_KHR.FN1.V04
Regards.
Conect, was wondering if you'd gotten anywhere with OS development for this watch?
Is this the one you got, this is the one i have but the icons and analog faces are different... ?

I've had my watch for about a week now, and I gotta say, for the price, it's pretty killer! I wish there was more development for it besides distributing firmware and flash tools.
I've noticed that when you activate Google Voice search and texting with the watch connected, it uses the watch mic to pick up your voice. I was thinking it might be cool to find a way to trigger voice search and voice texting from the watch, since you can already use it for voice input as long as you trigger the feature on your phone. Have you made any progress on trying to develop for the u8?
Also, I believe I read that they're going to release an SDK for MediaTek devices, such as this watch. Might be interesting to see if anything comes of that.
Wish there was a way to add a count down timer to this watch. It needs to have the timer with a start/stop button on the screen as well a reset button for the timer. so If I set it to 30secons, when I hit the reset after the 30s is up it will reset it back to 30secs again.
I need to root my phone so I can turn off a few notifications that I do not want to transmit.
driver instalation problem
helo,
maybe in wrong thread, but if anyone could help i would be grateful. my windows 8 dont recognise u8 watch, and i cant install provided drivers for vista. i'm stuck, and i would like to instal firmware, but without watch been recognised its not posible. thanx
Is there a way to make the U8 vibrate when you receive a text message or have a phone call?
I was wondering if anyone has found a way to get different faces on this watch. I believe mine may be a clone.

[Q] Android Wear - Themes and Watchfaces

Hi everyone,
I have not found this info so far, so I'm asking here:
Can Android Wear Smartwatches be equipped with custom watchfaces out of the box, like the Pebble? I know that Motorola is planning something like this, but I'd like to know, whether we'd be stuck with whatever Samsung, LG or whoever made the device allows, or if we can install Watchfaces from the Playstore/other sources? This would be a big factor for different screentypes, AMOLED could benefit greatly from Black and White watchfaces for example.
The same goes for the general theme/style. Is that alway "stock" Google Now look, or can we adjust it to fit our needs and/or to conserve power on AMOLED screens?
Thanks.
You can find Google I/O prese.tation on youtube and just find Android Wear presentation. It shows watchfaces, wallpapers etc.
Short answer - Yes you can change everything.

Thanks,
I was aware of the wallpapers, but not sure about watchfaces, since those are, according to what I read, the only things manufacturers (eg. Samsung, Sony et al) are allowed to customize. Now, just because Sammy is allowed to customized doesn't mean they'll allow me to customize...
I'll rewatch it and see what exactly they say...
UPDATE: I watched the presentaion again, but did not find any concrete evidence either way. Apps can have a custom UI, but I found nothing on 3rd party watchfaces.
Another question just popped up in my brain: What happens when the watch is not connected to the phone? How much functionality remains?
Also, can you actually answer a call on the watch? I'd assume not, since it has no speaker...

Regarding 3rd party watchfaces, that functionality isn't available today but has been promised in an upcoming release. Wear devices currently run Android 4.4W so I would assume it will roll out with L (if not before).
Just tested the functionality of the LG watch when not connected to a phone. It has limited functionality. No voice commands (because it normally uses the internet through your mobile device) but you do have access to the basics: steps, agenda, timers, timers alarms, stopwatch, etc and apps that don't require internet.
When you receive a call can answer/decline or decline & send a text (with preset and on the fly voice I think) straight from the watch but I believe you will need to use your phone or another Bluetooth device to actually talk the the person on the other end.
Hope this helps.
Thanks. That does help!

DM98 Smartwatch Help

Hi i just got my DM98 smartwatch and had a few questions for anybody that has the answers.
1.) I got the watch synced to my phone and i wanted to be able to send and receive text messages, make and receive phone calls, and use the internet.
Question: is there an app or trick to make this possible or am i just S.O.L. ?
2.) I have read that it is possible to create your own clock faces.
Question: Is there a guide that details how to do this?
3.) Question; if i want to do anything do i need to root?
These are all the questions i have at the moment. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

The trick is simple - go to the play market and look for notification software with a set of features you want.

The guide is simple - you should write your program. It's the most flexible way. Second option - you can go to the market and look for face designer or similar application. It' limited, of course, but you can try it. Third option - get watch face that you like and go into it's folder. There you'll find some pictures and may be fonts. Now you can delete the pictures and replace them with your own (with same name, of course), then restart your watch face application and you'll see your pictures instead of removed. It's most limited customization, but it's simplest.
Here is one watch face application.

let me clarify a little bit.... i want to do this all through bluetooth. i have tried a bunch of apps and none see my DM98 Smartwatch as a bluetooth headset or anything of the like so i am a little confused with the explanation.

It shouldn't be a headset. It should be something like phone or smartphone with the ability to transfer any data. To connect to DM98 first turn bluetooth on on both devices (DM98 and your phone), next make one of the devices available to connection requests, then the device will advertise itself and second device should see it. When it's seen just touch it and select "pair". Only after this you can start your notification software and use it's communication features.
In short - you should pair devices BEFORE any third party application can do something for you. The pairing is performed using Android's bluetooth settings, no third parties should be involved.

You are talking about communication software. Chinese smart watches usually have just a subset of such functionality. It means you won't get everything pushed. But you can try to look for such software at the market. Search for key words like "notification" "smart watch" and so on.

Can you guys help.
my watch not opening. when i press power button there is nothing happen. what can i do? is there anyway to reset with a button on this watch?
Hi, I have a question, how we do for have the sms on the watch via bluetooth?
Reset
Have you ever tried resetting the smartwatch there's like a small pin hole in the very back of it take something to stick in it the watch will shut off and you just restart the watch back up and that should have fixed the issue
No 1, you can try these aps to enhance your dm98
1. Watch android phone
2. Android control panel
3. Heads up notifications
4. Rotation control
[SOLVED] Still getting used to the tiny keyboard, I had a typo.
I just got the Dev C14 (Bluetooth reports it's actually the DM98) and when I try to log into the Playstore with my existing account, I get past the email and password, but then it says to "Type in the text you see here" with a prompt but I don't see the text. Can anyone help please?
Cannot connect DM98 to Galaxy S8 Active
Hello fellow smartwatch owners. I have the DM98 like the size memory WiFI but cannot get it to connect to my Samsung Galaxy S8 Active. The phone shows the watch and vis a versa, they both are paired, but when they connect the connection is lost right away. Please help if you can

For downloading software use wifi. Start with Google play, etc. Best for installing software is to do it from your computer: just log in to Google Play windows.

Need some help to customize Chinese Smartwatch Call Feature

Hi
I have a FitCloudPro App based Chinese smart watch probably called LA23 (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004403438987.html) . Here I'm not getting an option to Transfer calls from Watch to phone, once picked up on the watch.
Scenario:
I use BT earphones and smartwatch all the time, but whenever a call comes and I receive on my smartwatch it never transfer to my earbuds until I switch it manually. (Ps. there is no setting on watch to transfer a call to watch.)
Current Settings:
Watch connected to smartwatch and Earbuds are connected to same phone.
Watch Media audio and mode is on.
Condition:
On a bike/at gym it is problematic when a call comes to phone, I want to transfer this call to phone from smartwatch so that I can use my earbuds to talk.
Is there any way to do it?
when a call comes I can receive on watch but when I press the button of my watch it can transfer to my phone?
It will be a great help if you can solve.
Thanks a lot in advance!
Mayank
it's not a watch issue. application is an arbitrator. watch only sends info to app about your action. while app are route the streams.
it's possible if you'll write your own app or you'll find compatible app with disired functional. and seem a first more feasible.

Hi, thanks for you reply!
I'm not much technical to code my own app.
Although I have read your another thread about the LA21, and this is the same brand watch called LA23.
If you have some suggestions about to code an App as you understand this watch mode deeply or can you suggest me an App that have this call functionality?
it would be much helpful!
thanks

perhaps it was a la10. I had this model and had make few tools for it, but it's a complettely different. la10 is a very easy in program part. la23 looks like my new watch - dm50. at least it have an identical chip (RealtekRTL8763EW), similar functions and fitcloud pro as a companion app.
it's a way harder. as in app part, as in watch face format. I try to learn it, but on watch face format investigation yet.

I'm not a programmer (even didn't know about kotlin a half year ago), so it's a bit hard for me too.
so if a la23 similar as a dm50, I think I can't reassure you. it's not treat as usual "medical device". it have a dual connection mode. and audio part defines as a wireless headset. you can see it in bt devices in phone settings. so as I understood it's not so often feature for smartwatches and in this case, I don't think what you can find any compatible app.
"ble-starter" is a very good point for beginning, but evet this need much reworking.

may be must have an another target platform on compilation. but anyway, it would not work with this device. it have an another type of authorization (with confirmation). la10 allow to connect automatically without confirm. it required much reworking.
btw, may be more than enough to find app what would just force select device to talk? seems it's more easy way to solve your problem.
