Are you using adoptable storage (IE: SD cards, Thumb drives, external HD's) to increase your storage capacity ?
If so, then that is likely why.

Please search this topic has been discussed since day one. There's a fix for it...someone here in the forum. I wish I could provide you the link but I can't right now.
This happens when you have a corrupted media file and the system is constantly on to scan it.

Is anyone else having this problem with media server constantly running and draining battery. Yesterday the media server didn't drain any of my battery but today after I charged it out stayed on the whole time and drained my battery when the plunge should have been in deep sleep. Any idea how to turn it off. I don't have a lot of music on my phone just 12 sums in my extSD card. Any ideas?

Ok I think I solved the problem. I moved the few tracks I had from the external sd card to the internal and so far no battery drain from media server. But if anyone has a better solution please help because my phone will get full quickly if I have to store all my movies and music internal.

Import from the cloud or computer itself. Faster imo

So I plan to use the camera to record a few long session and I noticed it will turn off after a period of time. Is there anyway to keep recording continuously? Both the front and back camera behave like this which makes me think it's some kind of battery saving feature to prevent accidentally idling. Anyone else experience this?
You say long sessions, but how long? If your SD card is formatted as fat32, the max file size is 4 GB, I suppose the recording can stop when you reach that size.

Check settings and make sure it is not set to Limit size for MMS

Yes, this is exactly when it stops 4GB or ~34 min of roughly 1080p recording. Is there a way to bypass this? I have a 64g micro and was planning to use this to record 2+hrs of video of my dj session.
You can try one of these things :
- record the video on the internal phone memory (the file system is sdcardfs but I think it's backed by ext4)
- format your SD card as exfat then record on it. I think the stock kernel supports that.

How many songs are on your nexus 4 8gb?
I have about 715 and 2 small games like 20mb each I was wondering if this is normal? I have nothing else on my phone that takes up space
Sounds about right. I still strongly believe that Nexus devices are supposed to be used with google's cloud service. Have you ever considered using google music for all your music?
None. Music belongs in the cloud.

Hello all, looking for help connecting the GS5 to my Fiat's audio with a USB cable. Music is playing from the Google Play app whenever I plug in, but it won't play Pandora (runs through the speaker on the phone at the same time as Google Play going to the car's audio). Force closing Google Play just makes the car not notice the phone. Any pointers?
I have the same problem.
Same exact problem. Just bought father GS5 and hes not very happy he can't stream Pandora through USB.
I'm almost positive that Pandora's DRM would be blocking this type of playback.
