Capacitive icons instead of dashes - OnePlus 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does anyone know more information about this particular oddity? My oneplus 2 has a triangle (left) and square (right) as the capacitive icons instead of dashes.
Tried looking up for images but to no avail.
Mine is the A2001 model (China, 4gb 64gb), and yes custom ROMs and everything works as it should, so it isn't a clone. It being the A2001 model makes even less sense as h2os' back button is the right instead of the left
I'll try to upload some pics when I get home later in the night

this indeed, is peculiar, where did you buy it from ?
awaiting images.

Do you mean on-screen buttons? Or the actual capacitive ones?

Sorry for the late post, and no it isn't the on screen buttons

Anyways does anyone have any info on this? Or if anyone has this too?
I got this from a friend of mine, someone traded it in to his store.

Maybe the Display glas was replaced or there is a tempered glass screen protector on it which has this symbols carved in or something.

As far as I know it's screen wasn't replaced, and I had only just placed the tempered glass a couple weeks ago and it has nothing to do with it.

Did you try reaching out to oneplus or visiting their service center?. May be this was part of initial batch of test phones. Or something like that.

Weird! Hey just curious.... If you use a ROM which allows button swapping, do the symbols swap as well? ...or just the functions?

There's obviously a tempered glass screen protector on top of the original one... remove it to uncover the light source underneath...

The icons don't swap, it's just shaped that way instead of dashes.

I had mentioned it was like that before I placed the tempered glass myself. I'm the one who placed it so I'm positive it wasn't some custom framed glass. I'll post more pics on this, as I could make out the square icon even if it isn't lit up.

Here's some more pictures
P. S Square icon is easier to spot under the right light, not so with the triangle icon

Custom made OP2. Ahh

I ordered a replacement LCD from China and thats also what I got, so im positive your screen has been replaced before.

Hahaha looks like its probably a manufactory bug, they could make the glass by some mistake with this instead the - . If I would be you I would let it as it is is one of a kind. Also it coudl happed like previous post says. The glass was replaced but not by original OnePlus 2 parts.

<- Can someone tell me how this picture came in this post?!!??
[I put it there. V]
Same here!
I have the same problem!
Very annoying considering how much the device is - this is the only negative that I have about it.
This is where a silicone case would come in useful. None presently exist for the Trinity, but then it is only a matter of time.
can someone post a picture of the problem. i am also thinking about getting a dopod d810 soon in the new year and I would like to see how serious the problem is....
yep a photo of the problem would be great.
Have you tried getting the phone replaced?
I've sent the phone in for a service to see what they have to say. But HTC will most likely deny that this is their problem... *argh*
I will post a picture when I come home.
Sound as the same problem with the Wizard after a few weeks you can peel of the coating on the side also (think wet hands).
Check out the attached files...
BTW: mine started to peel off on the front too... This is crap! *argh*
Did you drop it or was this from normal use? I'm a bit worried now...
Can a black sharpie or something make it look better? I'm interested to hear what HTC says!
humm, mine is still perfect after 2 weeks
No dropping or anything. I've used it with care, even though I'm a bit "fast" when I take out the stylus, but I mean a unit like this should be built for that kind of use. (and I don't have any long sharp nails either which might actually be a killer for the paint.... )
btw: what is a sharpie? Some kind of "make-up" stick?
HTC should offer to replace the phone.
I would be pretty alarmed if they didn't.
Sorry, Sharpie is a permanent marker
Google it
hi guys,
that looks pretty bad. it can only get worse if its peeling like that. get a replacement. it seems the gloss coat isnt bonded properly to the case
Peeling off here too....
Well I have this problem too, but its merely visible. The interesting thing is: It looks like there is shining metal under the coating. Can anybody confirm this? I wouldnt mind to have the bottom piece looking like blank metal.
I think there is a dark, semi-shining metal below the coating.
Still waiting for a reply from the service center.
OMG they seems to painted the bottom part of white Trinity case over with black paint on top.. semi-shining metal coating you guys seeing is what bottom part of white Trinity looks like in fact.
Just took a look at the white trinity now.. And you know what SecureGSM? You might be right... Or maybe it's just a coincidence...?

Is your Light & Proximity sensor Vertical or Horizontal?

I know that there are many variants of the galaxy S but there ive seen some models of the I9000 having a vertical square shaped L&P sensor such as this

whereas mine has a horizontal oval/circular shaped L&P sensor. Any thoughts?
Mine are horizontal (not like the pic). What difference does it make anyways, lol.
the 2 dots are side by side
that will be horizontal
the picture is vertical (top & bottom)
if you are asking this question because you are concerned about the Screen Protector, then there's no need to worry it works, even if covered
Side by side here (horizontally)
side by side here.. could just be a mistake in the drawing of the i9000
Horizontal for me as well.

Had a screen protector which was to my horror vertical! ive not seen the vertical varaint myself though.

It DOES (if you apply enough pressure).
i agree this phone screen is basically scratch resistant. The back cover on the other hand is horrid, and has many scratches... Dropped it a few times on asphalt and the phone front looks band new but the back is starting to show signs of wear and tear.

Can you notice screen lift with case?

I recently picked up two new N7's and unfortunately they both have minor screen lift. The cases we ordered are similar to the one pictured below... Can anyone tell me if its even visible/noticeable in a case like that? I mean, i cant imagine it being noticeable with the bezel being covered by the case.
Thanks

I have the exact case (except its blue) and the screen lift is not noticeable. In fact, i had ordered the slim ebay case and i switched back to the supcase because it seemed that the screen lift was worse in the ebay case. I feel that the way the supcase holds the N7 in does help

Great news! Thanks for the quick reply.
No. Anything that covers the bezel will hide it. The Slim cases typically don't cover the whole bezel except the corners. Most TPU cases will though.

I sense some sarcasm, but may as well be for me. I plan on using mine in the case full time so out of sight out of mind
And hey, a case was a valid fix for the iphone4! :victory:

[Photos] M7 Glass removal [50% success]

Hello, i'm removing glass from my htc one m7.
As there are no threads with such experience, (or i didn't found them) i decided to create my own.
So, by heating up with table lamp and using kitchen & putty knives i've managed to remove ~half of a front glass almost without damage to lcd.
It's hard, but not impossible

Why would you do that!
So, what's the purpose of doing this? Your phone looks a mess now you know that mate?
Certainly won't be following in your footsteps
Instead of replacing the glass you want only the lcd screen? got the spider app before that?

So what is the purpose of your thread? I don't see the interest of creating a new thread to show a broken glass "for fun"
it could be useful if you were replacing the glass and showing how, but destroying a part of a sub assy before replacing it is useless lol
anyway good luck with your screen!

To show, that it's possible to remove glass on htc one and it is not that hard that most people may think.
Process is the same as removing glass from any other phone without air between glass and lcd.
Why destroying? This phone was cracked badly.
Already ordered new gold housing. :good:
lets say the screen got broken, what i know is you cant order just the glass. you still need to order the whole LCD (with the glass) so what is the main purpose of showing that the glass can be removed if that glass is attached to the main lcd? lol

Useful Guide!

White border under glass. (S7 Edge Black Pearl)

Has anyone (especially those who own Black Pearl colour) exprenced this (first picture).
At first I thought it's just some dust but when I washed my phone and looked closely, it's actually something under the glass which looks like a cheap temepered glass's border (second picture).
The difference is only some parts of them are in white, the rest are beautiful in black (or transparent?).
It doesn't affect waterproof or anything but still triggers me a lot. Is this normal ?

This looks totally normal, it looks like dust build up in the slight gap between the tempered glass and screen itself or the space between the screen and body in some chase.. this is usually noticeable on black phones.
So U are saying that upon close inspection it looks like it's under the glass?
If so, I can confirm that it may be possible, because I'm having that issue. I have a silver titanium model, and on the upper side, it seems that the silver paint doesn't go all the way to the edge on the front glass, so I am able to see the glue that holds the glass.

I'm pretty sure it's not the dust because I even sink the phone in water.
