Hi
Spent some time googling this, and checked the forums, but nothing seems to help. I want to use the ES File explorer download manager so I can make downloads go to my SD card by default but no matter what I do I'm not getting the expected popup asking me if i want to use chrome or ES to download anything. I've tried clearing the chrome defaults but still no luck, as soon as I download anything it just uses chrome without asking me.
Thanks

Tried all the settings, set the directory to SD card and checked downloader is enabled, but all I get when downloading anything is the option to use chrome, internet or dolphin, nothing for any 3rd party download managers
I hate how bloated ES has become. It's been my file manager of choice for years, but it's taken a horrible direction in my opinion. I've now switched to Solid Explorer.

Hello again, ive come across another problem, ive just tried to download cyanogenmod zip file on my phone but as soon as the download starts it stops straight away, when i click on it it says download not supported for your phone??
I can download from market and i can also download a rar file from this site as well, so it just seems to be zip files.
It was fine yesterday, does anyone have any advice please??
Thanks

Wrong forum. This is more a question. But you need to install a filebrowser capable of reading zip files to download them. ES File Explorer or I/O File Explorer would do the trick. It does on mine.
Download astro file manager, free in market, and then go to preferences>> enable browser downloader. Now you can download anything
Or use Opera Mobile for your browser

I am searching my phone with es file explorer and cant find any of my game saves, I even checked search root and nothing. I thought they were in data/data but when i open the /data folder nothing is showing... any help would be nice.
All games are different. For example, Minecraft PE is in /sdcard/games/
But some can be in /sdcard/data/
Just start scrawling about.

Using es or astro i can not see the folders i want to get into. I did a tita. backup of the game, sent it to my email. edited the .xml, saved it and then sent it back to the phone and restored it. It worked, but a pain the ass at the same time. Why wont these "root" explorer apps show all the files and folders?
For ES you need to enable root...

i did that. still not showing enough. it also doesnt show sd-ext.
What File browser(with root-browser fuction) do you use?
I'm using Root Explorer
(I heard ES mess up a lot..so)
Anyway, how about you?
Root explorer FTW!

Same. To the people saying that es messes up a lot... I've never had one issue with it since last october when I got my first Android device.

Yried others, but never got used to to them ...
I like MiFileExplorer_v2.3.7.25 ... :good: (It should be on the Play Store now)
Does anyone else like it more than others?
regards
Root explorer does all I need. Sometimes I use the file manager from rom toolbox, but they're pretty similar.

Ghost Commander. I've tried everything else but kept going back to that, love the simple but highly customisable UI. My only hope is more versatility in handling compressed archives.
FX Root Explorer. Great Features.

I have a problem, when I hit the download icon (all apps) on my nexus 7, it is always empty.
I check in my download folder and there is 9 files for 66 meg.
I check with parameter, storage, and I have 66 meg, when I hit the storage, its open download, and still empty????
What is the problem?
To solve the problem I create an shortcut with es explorer to the folder download, but I would like that my download (original) icon to work.
Help, is this a bug, or I am the only one?
My nexus is in French, (telechargement) but I try in English and it is the same problem (download)
Where is this setting for the download?
Are you going to Settings > Apps > Downloaded, and seeing nothing listed there? I have 52 apps listed there. If you go to the 'All' tab, do you see all your apps including the ones you downloaded or installed from the Play market?
I believe hes going to the Apps list form the home screen and licking on the Download app that in theory wold show any items he has downloaded in his browser.

Yes this is it.
And in parameter, storage, there is 66 mg, in download, but when I hit download, the open window tell me there is nothing.
I am not able to see my download made with my browser.
Also, I try loaderdroid and I can see only folders. I have in download folder apk, pdf, files that I cannot see except with es explorer.
I try loaderandroid, and it is the same, files are not visible in the download folder.
This is going crazy.
I try to change download folder in loaderandroid, and I can see only folders, no content, no files, in any folder!!!!!
I have es explorer, and root browser lite, with these I am able to see files in folder!!!!! with any extension.
What is the problem??????
I just remove es explorer, and root browser lite, thinking that there was maybe a conflict. No luck, without those apps I am not able to see my download......
HELP
Ok now I can confirm that my Downloads icon in All apps screen is not working.
I have apk, pdf, .rar in the /sdcard/download/ folder, and I am not able to see them with the Downloads icon in All apps.
Only way to see them is with es explorer or root browser lite.
Is there a way to reinstall this Download manager apps????
Same problem with loaderandroid. (also not able to see any files, only folders)
How are you loading the files on? Perhaps you are putting them in another downloads folder?

No they are in the good folder. Problem is look like the files are hide for any download manager.
Like I said, no problem with es explorer or root browser lite
I try removing es explorer and rootbrowser lite, and Avast, and still not able to see file in Downloads apps, and Loaderandroid.
But I need to access those files, and without a file managers like es explorer, there is no way to access them except with Downloads from all apps screen, that in my case do not work......
The downloads app isn't meant to show the contents of your downloads folder. It only shows the files you download from your browser.
I'm not sure if it gets cleared automatically at any point, never tested it.
Its the same thing as the downloads tab in chrome on a desktop PC.

Ok with which apps you can see your files already downloaded from your browser? I use firefox, dolphin, and chrome, and I cannot see the files, except with es explorer, an add-on apps. Same problems with loaderandroid a download manager.

So I'm rooted with the De La Vega method and it works great. As we all know, the new google maps v7 will not allow you to do a lot of things that the old versions would allow. I've found some older APKs from v6 and previous, but when I go to install, it will not allow it. Any ideas why, or how to get around it?
I'm interested in this as well. Plus the navigation voice is so robot like and it can hardly pronounce street names properly.

You can change the speech from Samsung to Google speech engine, sounds MUCH better. The method is somewhere in these forums.

I'd imagine maps is a system app, so using a file explorer go to system> apps and replace the maps apk with your older one, change permissions and reboot.

How do I change permissions? I've tried using ES File Explorer but I can't replace that system file.

Sorry I'm not familiar with es file explorer. I use root explorer and just long press the file and select change permissions. Maybe try changing the extension of the original apk to something like .bak before you copy the new apk then you could always go back if you wanted the newest version again.

Once I downloaded the correct app to allow permission changes, I was able to rename the v7 file, copy over the v6 file and rebooted with no problems. However, the application didn't show up in the app list. So, I had to then install that same APK and everything works great. I now have all of my stored maps back!
What can't u do on v7?

There are several places online that have archives. I also had my APKs all backed up in such an event.
If you get blackout updater (Google play) or in Android themes. The blacked out version of Google maps is the last V6 version. I was glad to have the map view back.
