HI all,
what's process of downgrading from 6.0.1 to 5.1.1? Is it just open ODIN, then enter Recovery mode, wipe data/cache, then enter Download mode and just flash the stock 5.1.1 firmware?
What options in Odin should be ticked?

Is this an S4 or S4 Active? If not the Active then you are in the wrong forum. Also, titles should be more descriptive so they can be found by people doing a search who may have the same problem. Just saying you need help does not help the search function.

Unfortunately we can't help you with your problem because we don't have the same phone. You need to visit the correct forum, which you can find here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=2164
Ask your question there, with a more descriptive subject, and I'm sure you will find people who know more about your device and how to fix it.
So instead of having 300 threads about bootloader issues with the new KitKat, If everyone posts here they can see if their question has been answered already, and to share new info.
**This applies to bootloader N9005XXUENA2 which has come with the new version of KitKat 4.4.2**
[*]You cannot downgrade to 4.3 including custom and AOSP ROMs currently.
[*]Root does work, but it seems now and again it can cause issues, so you need to reflash 4.4.2 and then re-root (seems to be the only fix right now)
[*]Custom Kernels are NOT working currently
[*]Custom Recovery is available however, check out Chenglu's CWM for KK
[*] Hong Kong Variants (16GB) have issues with Ext4 fail when flashing, there is no fix right now. DO NOT FLASH IF YOU HAVE ONE
If people can just leave their advice / help, I'm sure it'll save us ALL a lot of time scanning through 100s of threads.
Thanks.
Thank you! We can get a centralized info sharing event going on~!
So far it seems my friend is experiencing some serious heat issues. which got resolved after a few hours. but this was after flashing and then resting then using for first time on kitkat after reboot.
He did not factory reset.
Hong Kong 16 GB N9005 bricked after 4.4.2 via Odin
Dear friends, please help.
I tried installing the 4.4.2 official poland XEO-N9005XXUENA6-20140113093221 on my Hong Kong N9005 16GB handset. I tried both the multifile and the single file ROMs. I am not rooted.
My phone no longer can access recovery mode. Instead it shows : "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again." I tried Kies 3, but kies noes not recognise the phone. It says Kies does not support this device.
When in download mode and installing ROM, it stops at ext4 and says "Odin: Invalid ext4 image".
I tried with PIT file, but then it stops at repartitioning, and shows PIT FAIL.

Majority of the Ext4 issues seem to have stemmed from the HK 16GB version, there *may* be no other way to fix currently. If you have tried all the known fixes, PIT file, re-flashed stock again etc. I am out of idea personally

Plz be noted that this leaked firmware comes with Bootloader N9005XXUENA6, Baseband N9005XXUENA2.
NEE devices will not have audio with the Polish 4.4.2. Can't make calls or recieve. Can still text and use data, however.
If you were dumb like me and flashed 4.4.2 you'll need to set the device to silent and then not even try to open dialer or get/make a call. System will be totally unresponsive for a while before letting you back out of things. :/ No way to fix until another region gets 4.4.2

Not experiencing anything like that. Maybe you need to re flash the Rom.
My biggest concern still is the rotation problem after rooting and removing some normal apps like flip board and ever note.

When attempting to flash 4.4.2, the 4.4 bootloader would have been installed. Once that is installed, cannot be downgraded to 4.3 bootloader, unfortunately.

Nope, not possible. Once you upgrade to the new Bootloader you are stuck with it until further notice.. And I doubt there will be an exploit to go back to 4.3 as there wasn't one with below MJ7

Let's not be aggressive Mr. Schubeir. Hope you didn't have the opportunity to understand the real need. I am aware there is a rooting possibility. However it breaks the warranty by updating knox binary. If you have a solution for rooting without voiding the warranty , then help the people else don't jump with your hard words. In this world no one is having complete knowledge . Neither me nor you.

I love you guys..
Need help!
Guys I did as mentioned but after rebooting when i go to root checker and check, It says that "Root access is not properly installed on this device".
Also when i try to open SuperSU, it says there is no SU binary installed and SuperSU cannot install it. This is a problem.
What should I do now? That means the root was unsuccessful right?

Alright so I switched from an Apple to and Android and now would love to root my samsung galaxy s5 g900a (yea i know, its a ***** of a version). Towelroot only allows phones that pre-date june 3 2014 to be edited, so I tried to find a decent firmware that predates this and use odin3 to flash my phone. I went to Sammobile after reading through 40+ pages of instructions, downloaded this: (I can't post links so I'll post the info)
Model: SM-G900A
Model name: GALAXY S5
Country: USA (AT&T)
Version: Android 4.4.2
Changelist: 964333
Build date: Fri, 14 Mar 2014 04:15:55 +0000
Product Code: ATT
PDA: G900AUCU1ANCE
CSC: G900AATT1ANCE
MODEM: G900AUCU1ANCE
Then I followed the instructions and received this error from Odin3:
<ID:0/003> Added!!
<OSM> Enter CS for MD5..
<OSM> Check MD5.. Do not unplug the cable..
<OSM> Please wait..
<OSM> G900AUCU1ANCE_G900AATT1ANCE_G900AUCU1ANCE_HOME.tar.md5 is valid.
<OSM> Checking MD5 finished Sucessfully..
<OSM> Leave CS..
<ID:0/003> Odin v.3 engine (ID:3)..
<ID:0/003> File analysis..
<ID:0/003> SetupConnection..
<ID:0/003> Initialzation..
<ID:0/003> Get PIT for mapping..
<ID:0/003> Firmware update start..
<ID:0/003> SingleDownload.
<ID:0/003> aboot.mbn
<ID:0/003> NAND Write Start!!
<ID:0/003> FAIL! (Auth)
<ID:0/003>
<ID:0/003> Complete(Write) operation failed.
<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 1)
<ID:0/003> Removed!!
I read up and found out I had to have a specific PIT. Well that's great but there's almost no information on what PIT I need? I've searched for over 4 hours and have had no luck finding an answer. I'm not even sure how to install said PIT if I did find it. I have no issue teaching myself if someone does not want to spoon feed information, but please could any one point me in the right direction as to what my next step would be? I would love to root my device.
Thanks,
Z

You might be right. I'll test it later tonight and facepalm if it was something so simple.
And for your information, you DON'T even need to install a WHOLE firmware.....
Just the kernel.......
Then root it......
Then re install your original kernel.....
Job done.....
This thread.....

gives full instructions.......

Alright I read through that, seems simple enough but... I don't see any g900a kernels uploaded. Is there a trustworthy site that would have my specific kernel uploaded?
I think I'm forced to do an entire firmware because of my model number. I'll search more in the meantime before I do it, but if you see this and know off the top of your head where I can get a kernel that works with my galaxy, I'd appreciate it.
Thanks!

a5 section? Do you mean the s5 section? I'm looking right now in the s5 section, hopefully I'm not an idiot this time around.
Edit: think I finally found the thread. Thanks for letting me know it existed.

Hi guys, i just bought an unlocked SM-G935A galaxy model and it works fine with my Mexican carrier "Telcel" (can receive calls, messages, mobile data) however i notice that i won't have any Samsung and OS updates since this is an AT&T firmware, i have made some research and i believe that i have some options to change the AT&T firmware to another one that might work fine and it should be unlocked and free to get Samsung updates, however i'm not sure which one will work fine and it won't harm my device.
I have found these firmware's that might work fine:
SM-G935U (G935UUES4BQG1)
Sm-G935F (G935FXXU1DQG1)
Does any one have knowledge about this, or have any recommendations?
