Reading through the forums I noticed some people are complaining that their OP 2 volumes are too low and some too high?
For me, it's definitely too LOUD. Even on the lowest step, Ringtones/Notifications/Alarms are ridiculously loud. Media - not so bad.
On Oxygen OS 2.2.1-2 I can solve the issue by disabling 'Audio Effects', then it's fine. The MM beta is too loud.
The only other rom/firmware I have used where the volume is acceptable is Hydrogen OS (LP and MM). All the other roms I've tried (about 15) it is way too loud.
Anyone else have the same issue or a fix or is my phone knackered?? I'd prefer a custom rom over Oxygen OS, but I can't be doing with how loud it is.
Audio is currently f*cked up on OOS3 beta and all ROM's based on it - although team Iridium claims it is fixed on their Oxydium, cannot confirm. CM13 also has it's quirks like being too loud, but at least audio quality is OK with V4A. We are waiting for new beta, or final release of OOS, then released sources for CM guys to implement them.
Thanks for the info. I'll take a look at Oxydium.

I'm praying for someone who can solve my problem.
I LOVE my n1 but I dont hear it when Im outside home.
I surfed tens of forums searching for the solution and there is no dsp manager or lvh that has been able to solve the problem.
can someone help please?
p.s. i heard that maybe cyanogenmodded rom on gingerbr could solve the problem but i heard also that it uses dsp manager which wasnt working on my n1
Are you using a custom rom?
Most custom roms have an audio boost over stock. And maybe that DSP Manager would only work if the ROM supported it, so that could be why nothing has worked sof ar if you are on stock.
I think you're looking for the vibrate option
the audio boost is present in most custom ROMs such as cyanogen. so you really should have no problem if you use that. i know my volume has increased very well using cyanogen so i dont have any complaints anymore.
i do remember in cyan 5.0.8 that the audio hack was TOO loud and people complained, so the dev's reduced it to somewhere in the middle. perhaps you can go try that old ROM and see if that helps just as a test. if so maybe you could edit your kernel to match that old hack? might be a lot of work though...
i'm using one of the gingerbr roms from this forum
so you'r suggesting me to wait for the cyano's gingerbr?
p.s. today i bought an ideos for my old father ((( its LOUDER AND LOUDER than my n1 (((((
Unfortunately, you will have to live with crappy HTC speakers I am afraid. Rom's don't have a significant difference - I mean it will still sound crap :/, I don't know why HTC keep doing this.

dont say me so! please! i heard about people who solved and had to REDUCE volumes beacause the loudnes made the speaker clip instead!
i wanna clip my speakeeerrrrr!
Try enomthers Official ROM with the AudioMod kernel. I now run my incall volume at 50% where on the stock ROM I had it maxed all the time. The speaker phone is actually useful now as well. Besides this excellent perk its also a very fast and stable ROM with lots of features that I've found I can't do without. I ran a Gingerbread ROM for a week and was so happy when I switched back.

do you know if it's possible to flash only the audio hack? i'm just running stock cyanogen 6.1.1 and i would like to play around with the audio hack. can i flash it somehow, or does it have to be built into the ROM? and also, i have a build environment set up, so could i just play around with the kernel code for the hack, and compile my own kernel for testing it out?
Can anyone suggest any 'good' solution? kernel or otherwise to fix this $#@$# 'bug' of low in-call volume in Nexus One??
Would really appreciate all the help!

That's my problem from the beginning. Speaker is crap and there is nothing you can do. Tried different ROMs and nothing changed it.
Hello guys. I wanted to find out how to increase my skill lvl. Like I have quests tht require me to extract items like fruits, objects but when I try to extract, it says my skill lvl is too low. What can I do to increase? Plz help.
Today was Sunday, and I spent almost all day behind my phone, trying to figure out what's the problem. I flashed Perseus, was very very happy with it, then came an incoming call, and it seemed the ringtone volume is lower than before. Before I was on stock kernel. Then I did some testings and read some stuffs. I tweaked S Tweaks and increased the Speaker amp to +10 . The volume definitely increased but not up to that mark in comparison to stock Kernel and 4X + Moderate gain under X Loud in Viper. Then I was scared, still I increased it up to +16, which is max in S Tweaks, and then it somehow matched that tiny increase I did in Viper with Stock kernel. I kept playing with the Bands, nothing. Then I flashed Adam kernel, same! I am now back with Stock kernel, with that little Viper gain, which is literally so loud that I tend to turn it down, but I would really like to know what's wrong! I have never used Stock kernel for more than a week after purchasing a new phone, I didn't need to use frankly. Siyah with S2, Red Pill with Note 2 and all, they were perfect, with the additional features, and keeping the important features unchanged. What's happening now? What's wrong? I would like an elaboration on this.

Hi mate don't know about your kernel problem but you can flash this might help
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2306701
I'm going to take the plunge and try a new ROM, but I was wondering if people here had tried these or another and could recommend their favourite? Anything to keep in mind when going to say Lineage over stock? Lineage has the speaker bug still but does the DAC still work? Any bugs in Bad Boyz?
AFAIK the DAC still functions properly. Flash Viper4Arise and limit output for better speaker quality.
My personal favorite ROM is Ressurection Remix. It has good customisation, reasonably stable, and the battery is good. Also has Magisk with Xposed built in, also has substratum built in (if you're into that stuff).
(If you need links, let me know)
RR remix with Custom kernel AX7 and Viper4arise . Works perfect for me
Lineage while great was not very stable. Since 7.1.1 came out for our phone officially I reverted to stock.
RR? I'll check that out!
The reason I asked about Lineage was because Reddit was talking about amazing it was when it launched, touting improvements everywhere and really making the phone amazing.
RR? I'll check that out!

If you haven't tried our RR yet, I think you should. Definitely more stable with lots of amazing customization. As @Cyberwolf2 mentioned, coupling RR with AX7 kernel is seriously good business. Much more robust and stable than stock, although I miss the near-perfect audio from stock D:
Bad boyz rom is the best specially 7.1.1 it comes with wifi calling wich is awesome
RR is very nice, but I couldn't stand the sound issue. There are a few other missing features compared to stock, but they are relatively minor compared to what you get. Overall, my pick is bad boyz, especially now that we have 7.1.1. Everything will just work, and I really like Magisk.
Sound is crucial for me. I didn't buy this phone to make it sound worse (on headphones!). So RR is out for me.
Does Bad Boyz have the DAC working?

Bad boys is a stock rom. Helps to read the thread and be informed.
I like the Badboy ROM but can't stand that ZTE still has some sort of app killing going on. I set the right parameters in power management and still the app closes. The same app works perfect in LineageOS ROMs but keeps getting closed in the stock ROM.
Oh yeah the stock app killer is annoying. Does it still happen on 7.1? It hasn't happened to me for several weeks so I forgot about it. I wonder if it stopped happening when I flashed the apk profile Zhana balanced. Try that and see if it resolves the problem. I get fantastic battery life with it too.
The app killer started playing up really bad for me, then I factory reset after the 7 update and it's been fine ever since. Same for 7.1.
It looks like I'll be trying Bad Boyz soon then!
I installed LineageOS the first day it was released. It's very nice and, for me, very stable. Never experienced any crashes or freezes, lags or anything. It's a also much lighter on the battery, I get awesome SOT with it. Switched to RR a few weeks ago and I found it to be even more advanced. There's just so many settings. RR seemed just as stable as LOS.
Yesterday, I tried dual booting Bad Boyz (primary) with RR (secundary) but I couldn't set the RR rom as secundary once I booted in it...
For now, I'm running Bad Boyz. I liked the Aroma installer: select apps, launcher and dpi to be installed. I installed it because I really couldn't miss the awesome audio experience on stock-based ROMs anymore. Viper4Arise and other tricks help a little bit, but really don't come even close to the stock sound.
Yeah stock sound/DAC is a deal breaker for me. I can't fathom why you'd even have the Axon 7 and then get rid of the DAC!
Are you using Viper on Bad Boyz? I've always used Viper, I imagine it coupled with the DAC sounds pretty incredible right?
I'm currently on Lineage OS 14.xx but a few things are making me want to change. Speakerphone not working (the other person on the call hears echo and static), the call volume is too low to hear in a loud environment, and no call waiting.
I have also tried Slim6 and Slim 7 with the same results on speaker phone.
I love the Stock OS but can't deal with the crappy Bluetooth connection.. it will randomly disconnect or not connect at all. I don't need to customize it, I just want **** to work.
What do you all think is the best daily driver out there?
for marshmallow trupure, for nougat any gsr rom ex. tesla, validus, tipsy. also dirty unicorns and resurrection remix are okay
Stock means stable. Custom means hit and miss. It's also a subjective matter. I installed roms that people rated stable but they were everything but stable. It's your choice. I never had problems with BT but I know many people do. Good luck in your BT quest.

Hi all....i'm on Candy rom and got flashed Dolby Atmos but now i have problems. Lowest sound levels are 3% but that is too loud even with Atmos off...it's more like 30% of max. Added volume steps but that didn't let me go under 3%,only more steps above. Is there anything i can edit to make lowest level even lower. Thanx

Flash a custom kernel with sound control, use Kernel Adiutor to lower it
Thanx...any kerenl you could recommend? I don't need extra battery drains
Just wondering, but which version of Dolby Atmos are you using? I tried flashing some of the Magisk ones but wasn't able to get them working on AICP. The 'Classic' version was the only variant which would launch for me, but the effects didn't do anything due to an issue with that specific ROM. I also disliked how the interface looked dated in comparison with the 2.3.1.30_r1 version that comes with the B17 China ROM on the Axon 7.

The LePro module usually works on custom. Though I think Viper4Android is vastly superior if you have time to play around. For example you can use another headphone's DDC to make yours sound as you like it, you don't necessarily need the one that flattens the IRS.

Just try. Kernels are supposed to give you better battery life not drain it xdd

The LePro one didn't work for me on AICP, unfortunately. I think it's just an issue on that ROM in particular as it doesn't seem to like anything other than the default AudioFX app from tweaking the audio. At the moment i'm just cycling through the different ROM's trying to find which one works best. At the moment i'm on Official Resurrection Remix. I'll perhaps give the LePro module a quick shot and if it doesn't work, then i'll just stick to using Viper instead as it's less hassle and offers a lot more customisation. But the difference in sound quality even on the stock MiFavor ROM is VERY noticeable when toggling Dolby Atmos on/off. Hopefully i'd be able to create a similar effect in Viper if it does come to that. :fingers-crossed:

Yes, except for ROMs based on stock.
In other words, you can use any kernel

Did it work out for you?
The insanely loud call volume is keeping me away from LOS based roms as well. I was able to fix the speakerphone bug on my A2017G with flashing the nougat modem, but the extremely loud call volume and inconsistent call behaviour is too much. In addition, the loud call volume leads to echos of the callers voice, i.e. the caller hears himself. Is there any other workaround for that problem?

Nope,no changes. Couldn't find any kernel with fauxsound support.
