Ok, so i was explaining to my lil sister about sim cards, and as i was saying how only Verizon worldphones had sims, i realized that you could, in theory, put a Verizon 4g sim into a 3g worldphone, and.... what would it do? I'm a little hazy on how exactly Sim cards work, but would it be possible to artificially "create" a 4g phone using a 4g Verizon sim?
EDIT: ok, since there are no answers, i realize this is a noobish question, but does the sim card contain the actual 3g/4g/whatever radios, or does it just "enable" them?
The sim card contains the customer account information, so once you lock the signal verizon knows how to properly bill you for your usage.
4G sim cards are different than 3G sim cards although they are in the same format. You can't just swap your Droid 2 Global Sim card and expect to work in your Droid 3 or vice versa becuase the ESN is what is tied to your number, the sim card is just there for roaming purposes (i may be wrong on that one), but i know that even on the global phones, you must have the sim card inserted in the phone to be able to get service with verizon.
The 4G sim card works more like a REAL (GSM) simcard you can swap your sim card into another 4G device and your number will transfer.
Here is another difference, the same sim card on global devices can be reused like you can go to your account and transfer your phone to another account without the need for another sim card. The 4G sim cards become invalid once they are deactivated and you will require a new blank sim card in case you want to activate your phone number again (this usually happens when you switch from a 4G device to a 3G, then move back up to a 4G device), they work much like most GSM sim cards work.
So in sumary, the 4G sim cards works more like a real sim card.
hello iv just got a second hand s5 lte today ,,im on ee been using a nana sim with old phone so put the nana sim into a adapter and it not registering the sim,,i put a micro sim Vodafone sim in and its fine my questing is does a sim adapter work on the s5 thanks
So I purchased a used note 3 ( N900A )
I just switch to straight talk. So I had a full size sim and cut it down to fit my note 3 . When I try to go into my apn setting it says insert a sim or something like that.
I know the sims registering , to the phone I can read stuff from it.
So has any one went down the road I am . Is my sim locked or something like that.
Also there is an app called "Sim App." it will first say icc-id and give what looks like about 15-16 numbers then click ok it reads imei check sum gives 4 digits next reads random number gives 8 numbers.
then asks for an unlock code . If entered wrong it will say you have X amount of trys lefts.
Does this have anything to do with why my sim card is not registering to the phone?
Do any sim card works in the phone? Does your sim card work in other phones? Was the phone tested with a sim card before purchase? Was the phone locked to AT&T?

Yes if I switch the card to the other phone . It works.
Im not sure if this matters the orginal phone was a throw away`alcatel. Its not a smart phone.
Are you using the SIM card in another phone that also uses a micro sim? Does the note 3 recognize any SIM cards?

I only have this one sim .
The note is reading the sim card with certain aps . You know how if you up power up a phone , missing a sim it will say so if you pull down the top banner usually with a message like insert sim. When you pull down the top banner it doesn't say that . There is no warning about missing a sim . So it recognizes it has one . I can read stuff off the sim card when i open certain aps that are meant to access sim cards but when I go to change APN setting it will say insert sim card to access network settings.
Without another sim card to try in the phone, it could be the way the sim card was cut or there is something wrong with the phone.
Is the phone sim unlocked? Did you try a sim card in the phone before buying it?

I dont think the phones sim is unlocked.
No I didnt try a sim . It was from a family member so Im not to worried. The sim card works in my throw away straight talk phone.
How do you unlock the phones sim?
BTW thank you for your help.
In order to determine if the phone is sim unlocked, power off the phone, insert a sim from another carrier, and power up the phone. If phone asks for a network unlock code, the phone is not sim unlocked and you will need to get an unlock code.
Was the Note 3 n900a from AT&T?
I own a Galaxy S8 (G950F) and I was wondering if I could use a second sim card. I've seen some S8s that have a different sim tray and they can support a sim card with either a second sim card or sd card but my phone's tray on has a sim + sd card tray.
No
No, because with dual SIM phones you'll have software options for the second SIM even if it's not inserted. The non-dual SIM phones don't have that.
Hi, is it possible to use the s10 plus with european sim card only mention outside of europe knowing that tbere is no way to get a european sim card. In that case., how may i activate it ?
Hello,
For this you have to get an European sim card, anyone will do, and then do a 5 minutes call with the phone, after that the phone will be activated to use with cards of any country
