I've just recently noticed that under File Explorer and Resco File Explorer that I've suddenly got a "storage" folder in addition to the sd card "storade card". Cant remember having seen it before and was just wondering is this was the extended rom as there seems to be an Application Data" directory inside and its size is the same as my "program files" directory of 43.7 mb.
whaere on earth would i find that on the memory card
???
If you connect the device through ActiveSync/WMDC, go to My Device - Storage Card
If you connect it in "Disk drive mode", it will appear as a new X: drive on My Computer. The root folder is then X:\
so when you access your memory card thru active sync then you are in the root direcrory, is that what you are saying
That is correct or you can even look at your card using a file explorer on your device
I am unable to change my default storage to SD card because applications like SwiftKey go wonky, so I'm trying to move apps and files manually with APPS2SD. But I get a message in the app that says
"This device does not have a real primary External storage, or the primary external storage is emulated .
Moving to SD card is not supported by this device "
So when I look into my files in Es file Explorer, it reports my internal storage and external storage as almost empty but my system storage says that it isn't.
Why is this a problem? How can I fix this
I am new to miui rom, always using stock or custom android roms.
I am using it for now as cant see a rom I like the look of but having trouble with the way it uses the storage.
I have an SD card but it appears to see the internal and SD as one whole storage location - is that true?
I download files and the inbuilt file navigator is a pain, but the storage location is internal, but i cant copy to this or from this on my PC. i have to use ES file explorer to copy the files from internal to a location on SD (as it shows as separate storage in this app) and then i can copy from // to the SD card..
how do i amend this? i just want to download and copy to PC if needed with ease.. (when i tried making the download location on the sd card the files never actually saved, after the download completed i checked the location but the file was not there).
My Galaxy S7 Edge recently updated to Oreo. Now play store apps no longer have rights to write to my external SD card. I have followed app instructions about how to open a system folder chooser dialog, and selecting the root of the external SD Card. Unfortunately the external SD card is never an option. The upper right 3 dot menu only has the option "Show internal storage" and does not have "Show SD Card" and the upper left 3 bar "Open From" menu only has "Recent" and "Downloads."
I've also set up a FTP connection to my phone but get permission errors when trying to delete or write files to the external SD card (I can read from it just fine).
The camera and other native apps allow using the external card as the storage location and the "My Files" file manager has full access. I am not rooted.
Any ideas?
