Hi guys,..
Does anyone have a current list of the necessary system apps for zenfone 2 Ze551ml? I just want to make sure I haven't removed anything that will hinder an upcoming ota update.
I have searched but there are a few different lists and I don't know which one is the right one.
Thankyou in advance
Opening uninstill I'm currently showing 165 system apps -3 which I moved there
So does 162 standard system apps sound right?

Thankyou so much! Is there an easy way to extract just that folder back into the phone... Like replace existing, just so I know that if any system apps were missing that they had been put back in. Just seems easier than cross referencing one by one. Sorry if it's a newbie question, I only just rooted for the first time this year
Just flash the full firmware rather than the ota, then you don't have to worry about it.

Unfortunately I'm only new to the whole root thing... I haven't worked out the whole flash thing yet, I don't think I'll be able to either. I have been googling but I read contradicting instructions and information
ok that was fun... i moved back apps i put into system... unrooted using supersu... downloaded ota and bammmm... error logo.
somehow restarted the phone with failed update . not sure where i went wrong but now the ota has disappeared all together so i can't even try again.
anyone know where i went wrong ?

I tried to install the new update on my Hero. I was rooted with the universal root program. During install my phone freezes and i get an !. I unrooted with the same program and I still get the same thing. My wife's stock hero installed just fine. When I try to install again it says the download is corrupt and asks me to re-download it. I've tried it several time with the same result. Any suggestions?
I had to re-install the old update from htc.com to get back to factory. I then updated to new one OTA, but now I can't root it anymore. I was using the universalandroot also and it won't root again. I'm going to try a different root method and hopefully it works.
I think I might know why your downloads are classified as corrupt.
If you used Regaw's root method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=694572 towards the bottom there is a section called

you just need to undo it by using mv to rename the file otacerts file back to the original name
I don't think that's it. Cause I didn't use that method. I read somewhere on here that if you've removed/uninstalled some of the sprint apps, then it's not going to update because the update involves updating one or more of those apps. When the update doesn't find those apps, it fails.

Maybe that's my issue. I did get rid of some of the stock apps I don't use.
Does anyone know what stock apps may have been updated with this? The only one I can think of would be peep. Is there a place I could get that .apk to reinstall and try to update again?

It's not mandatory to get it, but i want to eliminate the dialer lag. I think if I just reinstall the stock apps I could to the OTA update.

No its not. Your phone will still work just fine without it. But if you do want to incorporate the new fixes, install nfinitefx's new .7 ROM that has all the fixes/updates in it, and you won't lose root this way either.

Hi Everyone,
It was brought to my attention that there really isn't a clear explanation anywhere (as far as I know) on how to capture an OTA update file once you've downloaded it (for backup and/or testing purposes of course). So I've decided to write up this brief and simple "How to guide".
1. You need a rooted device
2. You'll need to download and install root explorer or Super Manager
3. Go ahead and download the OTA update BUT once downloaded DO NOT INSTALL yet, hit your back button or simply tap install later.
4. Open root explorer and navigate to the folder that says cache.
5. You'll see the OTA update file in there tap and hold then select copy.
6. Paste file to your external sd card (from there you'll be able to move it to your PC or where ever.
7. Since you have now successfully made a copy of your update (purley for backup purposes of course) navigate to your settings>about phone>system update and this will bring back the option to install the update
Any questions or suggestions I would be more than willing to answer or make edits to the OP if anyone sees a step I skipped or missed
Thanks to DarkRyoushii for the idea
Thanks dLo GSR for the super manager suggestion

he won't, he said he's said too much already :/
For those too cheap to buy root explorer, this can be done using ADB as well, right?
Might be good to post up instructions using that too

Just checked... nothing for me so far.
cool, i heard a new prerelease update should come
if you don't want to buy root explorer, Super Manager is a good free app as well.
So it just like nandroid ?
Its a full back up of the system? (ghost?)
Its only make a backup of the update? no backup of the system?
Edit:
OH, its backup the Update that available.
but how do i make a nandroid ? without a recovery..
step 1. get a recovery.
step 2. make nandroid.
:3
I'm sorry that was mean, I honestly don't know if its possible without a recovery though :S
Ok, I receive the 1.75 message and did the steps. There were two files in the cache folder and I copy the most recent one. I hope it is what we are looking for.

DID YOU SIGN UP FOR THE BETA?! If yes, please remove it and respect the NDA that you agreed too. We are trying to set a good example at xda by respecting motorola, regardless if it helps us get a bootloader solution earlier. :/
If you didn't sign up and just got the update randomly.. I'm amazed XD

what area do you live in, where you running .26 or .57, did the update pop up or did you check for it manually? Also I don't believe that to be the update. They're usually zip files and the .57 update was around 17mb... weird if that was your only file
he said that there was 2 files but he only grabbed the latest one.. so I'm assuming he only picked up the market.apk (probably from a market update) instead of the .zip
I live in Mexico. I have an unlocked Atrix. I need to be rooted because I use the hotspot app a lot. I didn't sign up any beta or NDA. I just received an OTA message to update to 1.75 two or three days ago. I haven't do that until I'm sure I can continue rooted. If there is anything else I can try please let me know. The other file is not too much different of this one.

as previously mentioned in another thread, press okay and let it download, it will then say install now or install later. YOU MUST CLICK INSTALL LATER. then you can goto the cache file and just incase you get the wrong thing, copy EVERYTHING from the cache folder like instructed in the OP of this thread.

Anybody try this file, when I go to install it, it says it wants to overwrite a system file?
i tried actrully, it didnt work at all.
Infact, i dont see any changes. Mine still says 1.57
Ok, so I installed Droidsail to try and move my large games to SD card on my S4 to free up some space.
It didnt work, so I uninstalled it. before I uninstalled it I had changed a setting to 'install new apps on SD card'
Now I'm getting an error: Insufficient Storage Available whenever I try to update or install an app.
This includes trying to re-install Droidsail to fix the setting.
I also tried to install Rom Toolbox, and I successfully installed that!
But superuser is out of date so I cant use it to change the setting
Cant update superuser... see error above.
So does anyone know a way to install an app completely manually? Not involving clicking 'install' at all? or another fix?
Can you flash to stock?

yea, tried that. I got pages of info on blackberrys. the 2 pages I found about android suggested I just download the apk folder and xfer it to my SD card. Then use a file manager to install. But again I get the same error.

Go to the development section and use the search function to find the stock factory ROM and directions to install it. I also suggest you take a lot more time to learn about Android (and the S4 in general) before you do anything else. Good luck.

I could be an idiot, but it appears that there is no stock rom yet for AT&T s4?

8 minutes between my suggestion of going to the development section and searching you replying you couldn't find it isn't a very good attempt.
However, you need to restore your phone to the original factory firmware that is supplied by Samsung for the AT&T S4 (i337). There most definitely is a complete thread about this in the Development section. Take a little time and you might find it. I'm not trying to be mean, but if you are not willing to take a little time to look for information and learn about your phone you are only going to screw it up worse.
I doubt you are an idiot (as you stated you might be), I just think you need to learn a little about how these phones work before you end up with a really expensive brick. Good luck.
Try Kies (just as bad an app as iTunes lol)

Greetings I have the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Verizon flavor and I used the most popular Towelroot which was simple, amazing, and just works however an OTA 4.4.4 has reared its ugly head and I know it would probably fail but I was wondering how to delete the update and what is the directory? I used DisableService and unchecked the google services for the OTA update so it does not continue to bug me however I know the update is still there and I would like to maybe rename it to .bak or delete it from the system folder so just in case Verizon tries to install it on its own accord. So question is where is the directory and what file should I delete or rename
Thank You in advanced

I'm new to the Note and I would like to disable the update until I can get it to work with Towelroot also.
So an update I just frooze the SDM.apk and that seemed to for now stop the annoying update request I think this is temporarily fixed still would like the proper way to stop it from trying to update
Also for the individual who replied to my post towelroot works with certain builds so go to the Web site and check your build on the Note

This is not temporary and it IS the correct way to prevent further updates on our devices. Disabling or completely removing sdm.apk is the way to go. Should not have to worry about that update now.
Thank you for the info and clarification should I deleted that 500 mb update and where can I find it and what is the file name? I read somewhere to rename it .bak but I can't seem to find it

hi all,
Have just installed an update to xXx No Limits Rom, have posted there but got nothing, but i'm also guessing that this is a more widespread problem or something i've not spotted myself.
Essentially what happens is the devices applications lose the ability to read from or write to the internal memory.
EG:
You receive a pic on whatsapp but it'll fail to download.
You grab an image from chrome but chrome believes there is no SD card present.
Gallery fails to show any pics at all.
Running this command in a terminal then rebooting will get it back up and running
su
restorecon -FR /data/media/0
However after a day it will revert, my guess is that the android system is taking back control but not allowing permission for the phones applications.
I'm on 7.1.1 No limits v2.2 Encrypted
TWRP version: 3.1.1-0
Any ideas?
PS: just spotted that i didn't install the verified boot signer, not sure if this matters after a few rom installs or not?
there's an SD card permission fix floating around somewhere, I can't find it.. Im having the same issue

I have to be honest mate, i dont' actually know what i did.
I re-installed the rom, updated TWRP, my device is encrytped now, not sure if it was decrypted before or not.
Beyond that i havent' done anything mate? There is an SD fix in the no limits rom thread which could help but i've not had to flash it.
Sorry mate.
