There are some new features like Display Scaling and Identify callers, but my up to date S7 edge doesn't have these features in settings at all. What's going on? I have all packages enabled.

Display scaling you can easily get back through an activity selector (or just use Nova launcher)
I use this for display scaling
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.evozi.displayscaling
There is also a white page app you can use to block unknown numbers

display scaling is blocked from normal access because it breaks Android Pay. just an FYI

Is there an app for adblocking in the galaxy store? I thought I read about one a while back. I searched in the store but nothing came up.

Well that's odd. I used it for a while and it ran just fine.
I've been using Adgaurd for the past week and it works just fine for me. Haven't noticed a hit on the battery either.

This. Adguard is so awesome I purchased the Lifetime licence. (40% off until the 5th). It blocks browser ads as well as app ads. And while it can (and will certainly) show up in the stats with a pretty high usage, that's not the truth, as it used a local VPN to remove the ads, so when Adguard shows up in the stats with X mb consumed and Y time on, those are just really other apps that went through the VPN.
Here's a really detailed report about Adguard and battery usage.
AdAway is my favorite, but I don't think it's in the play store anymore.
Edit: oops, forgot that AdAway requires root.

Block This would kill my internet, and NetGuard would kill itself off constantly. AdGuard works well, and yeah, I snagged the lifetime license with the sale going on.
So far adblock plus seems to be working well for me. Thanks guys. What is that vpn stuff some of them have going?

For those of you using a vpn based ad blocker like adguard, do you leave it on 24/7 or only turn it on whenever you need it?

Using crystal for samsung browser, works great very battery friendly, browser takes a bit of getting used 2 after chrome but it's optimised for the S7e.
I know they've been mentioned in other threads, but can't remember which ones. They're probably also super buried in those threads. So, yeah, what do you use?

The vpn is local, not going to a remote server - you aren't passing any data to their servers (outside of the licence check).
I've been using Adguard for the past few months, works great.

How do you get rid of the annoying notification, that never goes away, with adguard?
Sent from my SM-G935T using XDA-Developers mobile app
You can't, it's part of how Android does VPN.
Adguard is very good.

nah.. I get about 6 hours sot and 22hrs with it enabled all day. Also use it while streaming music with screen off on YouTube. My battery doesn't last much longer without it enabled. I think you think it uses a lot of battery because all traffic goes through it so it looks like its power hungry in battery stats.
Adgaurd browsers for android ?
Started using Block This. It's great. Creates a local VPN on your device and filters out all ads. https://block-this.com/how-to-install-blockthis.php

I ended up removing Block This cause it was causing problems with some Tmobile services like Wifi calling and I think it was the reason why some apps were unable to launch.
Netguard. Works well with wifi calling and open source
Regarding Adguard, is there anyway to remove the "VPN is activated by Adguard" in the notification list?

So Android Pay isn't working on my device I get the following error
"Android Pay can't be used
Google is unable to verify that your device or the software running on it is android compatible"
I was using it before without issue, then it just stopped working. I have even factory reset my device and I still am not able to get it to work. And no I have not used Package Disabler to remove anything, in fact, I do not even have it on my phone. And I am obviously not and have not previously rooted since (last I saw) it's not even an option.
Any thoughts?
Do you have displaying scaling enabled to condensed or changes your dpi?

That's your issue right there lol
You'll have to disable it to use android pay.
One of my friends had the same issue, you'll most likely have to wipe cache and data for android pay after you disable condensed mode

I have the same issue with condensed dpi. Anyway, Samsung Pay works better.
We need a detailed config guide for the app and all of its options. Cpu,gpu, i/o, all that. I find general stuff on Nexus phones on the web but not one for this phone and the best for its soecific hardware. Im just experimenting now. Whats the big deal with the cpu big clusters and why should it be set so high?

This is something I'd like to do, but haven't had time. I wonder if I could start a wiki perhaps, crowd sourcing basically.
That would be cool and would apply to more then just one device. The functions apply to all devices and then of course the optimized device specific settings for each option. There are so many options in that app.

No problem.
For what it's worth: After I disabled these I booted to Recovery and wiped the cache partition.
It was stuttering and laggy for the day, but after updating everything and a couple of reboots things have seemed to settle in nicely. Good luck!

It was either AudioConnectionService or SapaMonitor.
You can tell if you go:
Settings>Sounds>Sound Quality and Effects>Adapt Sound.
If adapt sound opens up then you are good. If adapt sound doesn't open after you tap on it, then you would need to re-enable one of the above. Sorry I don't remember exactly which one it was. But, its one of those. I actually have them both enabled with no change in performace or battery life btw.
Let me know if you need more help.
