Bluetooth Always on even when off - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

Hey guys, international s7 edge here, love the phone, getting great battery so this is more of a nuisance more than anything. I only use Bluetooth sparingly, I have it turned off and scan for nearby devices is also off. Yet at the end of the day in battery stats my Bluetooth is shown as on the entire day using between 5 and 7 percent of my battery. No matter what I do. Would really appreciate any help or insight anyone might have on this. Thanks in advance.

Try installing an app like GSAM Battery Monitor. See where the drain is really coming from.

Hi All,
Just wondered if anybody is seeing really poor battery life on their S4?
Granted, this is the first charge and I know Android devices tend to need a couple to settle in but my battery seems to be draining like God knows what.
I came from a HTC One which was pretty poor - but the S4 battery just seems to be pouring battery juice out. I'm using the I9505 on EE in the UK. I've been on wifi the entire time, though with a very low signal.
Don't know what Samsung Link is but that seems to be having a particular impact. I wonder if I have a fault? I assume Google Services is Gmail etc - although I thought that would show up as Google Sync or something.
I do have most of the gimmicky features disabled - other than the one where I can wave my hand over the lockscreen to see what notifications I have. Power saving mode is enabled and screen is on auto with the maximum set to a fairly low level.
Would be grateful for your thoughts.
Thanks
First thing is you have a truly awful network signal.
Its probably fine. I let my phones die 3 times when I get them , sometimes they sit at 1% for 2 hours or more, so that will give the phone a better estimation of its battery usage and such.
Thanks folks.
Yes, the signal is bad but the drain was the same at home where I had a full signal and wifi connected.
Do you know how to disable Samsung Link or this Google Services thing?
Cheers
Had mine run GLBenchmark when I was laying down in bed. Found it still on around 7 hours later, the screen still on (after I realized I fell asleep), and was around 10%.
Again, that's with the screen on all 7 hours.

You may just have a defective unit. Just exchange it for a new one

I have an excellent network & wifi signal. I've noticed the terrible battery, but I'm pretty sure mine is from constant use & such. Under these circumstances, I think my Droid X's battery lasted longer than this :/

From screenshots you can clearly see that Goggle Services and Samsung Link are eating your battery...
Keep AutoSync and Google Now - OFF
My phone have great battery life, lost 12% within 4hrs, 1hr screen ON, brightness up to 50%, WiFi ON all the time, average reception...
Google Services used only 2% and is on the bottom of the list, NO sign of Samsung Link on my stats so you must have some apps running in background...

Forgive me for being stupid, but turning auto sync off stops my Gmail getting push and also the calendar syncing, doesn't it? There no way around that?
Google Now was already off. I only sync Google Mail, Calendar, Chrome and nothing else. All the others are left unticked.
I can't figure a way of turning that Samsung Link thing off - there is no option in the settings.
Any other ideas?
Thanks

[Q] Android Wear App draning battery

Ever since I downloaded the app and paired my phone with my LG G Watch, I went from a full day's use to only 6 hours on my Oppo Find 7a. Its really frustrating. Tried resetting, redownloading and reinstalling to no avail. My phone even heats up now (something it doesn't normally do). I know with bluetooth and constant connection with the watch, battery life will take a hit but never expected it to be this much. Any one else?

As you said, bluetooth and constant connection would drain the battery life...

bluetooth's problem
Oppo Find 7a must be defective, bluetooth takes very little battery life. I am thinking up until you had a bluetooth device you never turned it on, you finally turn it on and find the phone is defective.
My Note 3, I never turn off bluetooth off and I can not notice any battery drain.
Looked at the screen shop Android Wear is in some sort of wake lock.
Mine Android Wear is not even listed see Bluetooth at 3% but no Android wear.
You have some utility that maybe cause issue? I never use a battery conserving app they do not work.
or the device which I do not know may not be using 4.4?

S7 Edge Battery Issue

Hi! It is a first for me to post a thread here at XDA. I really need your help regarding this battery issue on my S7 Edge Exynos (Factory-Unlocked). The first time I got this device I was very impressed the camera, screen and most specially the battery life - hands down for this device. But I had an issue on my first device and the Samsung Service was able to replace it - the first device got a stuck pixel and then the replacement unit got another issue, another pixel problem. So, Samsung Service did is to replace the screen, actually they replace most of it to make it short they only transfer the internals from another new phone - the motherboard, camera, and battery even the back panel is new. Then after I got the unit and updated the OS to Marshmallow 6.0.1. April 2, 2016 security patch level I notice that it drains battery faster that the first time I got the device. I guess a 8-10% per hour when using it on LTE, locations off, sync off, auto-brightness on. Then what I did is visit Samsung Sevice to let them check the device, they hooked it up on their pc and run a diagnostic test and no battery problem found. I was wondering if my battery usage is normal. I was not a techy guy but I just compared it before it got fixed from 100% to 99% it drains I guess for 2-3 minutes and a screen time is 3-4 hours max and 15 hours on battery. Really appreciate your help! Thank you! By the way the apps I regularly use are facebook, instagram, twitter, social messaging apps and most of the time web browsing on chrome.
Paragraphing? Search? Did you try? Follow the links, read...
Yes been trying to search regarding this issue and found some but does not directly answer the issue on my device. Anyway thanks.
Facebook is a well known battery drainer, maybe install GSam from the play store and monitor what is draining the battery the most.
Okay will take note on that. Thanks alot!
I had really crappy battery lifetime and it drained juice like hell! I made sure wifi and bluetooth was off when sleeping(screen off). Tried every guide ive found but newer got to the root of the draining problem.
I did an factory reset and the problem was GONE. Now I have 1,8%/hour drain with normal usage included bluetooth headset connected, and 50% brightness with batterysaving enabled. kept 100% after unplugging from fastcharging for 1hour without usage.
If u struggle, try a factory reset! its simple, and if u have backup it doesnt take long to recover!

Look at your firmware version. If it ends in APD1 or higher, then battery drain is a known issue that can only be fixed by downgrading to APC8 or lower. In battery stats, if Android System has double digit (12%+) drain then you have APD1 or higher and the known battery drain issue.
Okay thank you! really appreciate your advices.

Android system - stay awake time question.

It seems like my phone is having a problem going to sleep. For example my S7E has been staying awake for 7h19' out of 9h26m on battery. Can someone please look at my screenshot and tell me which of those might be causing this problem? I use and s7e and an iphone 6+ at the same time and my s7e's battery life is much worse compared to the iPhone. Please help.
You need to use Wakelock Detector., That screen shot tells us nothing
@Galactus does it require root? Cause I don't want to loose my warranty.
Use gsam for battery monitor , is it exynos or snapdragon aod on? Also there are other threads stating the same, go read first.
I found the problem. It was the bluetooth and wifi scanning to improve location accuracy. Turned those of and nowmy s7e's battery life is even better than the 6+'s. Cheers!
]Just found it in Location setting.
Hope that can fix this problem.

Battery - What Am I Doing Wrong? - Help!

Hola,
I consider myself pretty experienced when it comes to maintaining devices and getting the best out of them - but I can't get my head around my S8. It's really bugging me and I've decided enough is enough.
I have disabled bloat, there's nothing bloated on it. GPS is turned of, Auto-Brightness on, Sync is on but I don't ave much Syncing.
It's a fresh install too, it's been running for about a week - but I have had this problem since I have had the phone.
So I can be on 100%, Wi-Fi off, just sat on my desk at work. And I can see it dropping a % every 10 minutes, doing nothing just sat there!!
Right now it is on 53% from 8AM this morning with 55M screen on time, 55 MINUTES!
What am I doing wrong? It's driving me crazy, my iPhone X is still on 100%. I know you're all going to need some more details off me, so just let me know what you need
This might help.
Try installing GSam battery monitor or something similar. With GSam you can see the old battery graph ie when WiFi, GPS etc is on plus also if the phone is going into doze. This might help for a start

Hi OP. Its frustrating when you have issues like these and cant figure out why. Is there any chance that subpar reception in your area is causing excessive battery drain?
Also instal wakelock detector (WLD) it shows which process drains your battery while screen is off. It might be background music, bluetooth or app notifications.
Do you have apps running in the background?
Try installing a data monitoring app to see if there are any apps running in the background as even mobile data drains a lot of battery.
