I have set up a new pop3 account with my home isp blueyonder. they had some problems the other day with sending email through there smtp server. Now my outbox (in folder view) shows 1 unread message; but if I go to look in the folder it is empty. I do not have "show only last 3 days" checked. if I connect to the account via webmail all looks fine. it appears that something is stuck on my vario 2. other than deleting the account is there any way of sorting this small annoying problem?
This happens when I send/receive via my gmail account on my phone. I'm currently investigating... I've also had an issue where Pocket Outlook doesn't correctly authenticate with the SMTP server (on my own personal address) before trying to send emails, resulting in 550 no unauthorised relaying allowed. Also investigating this, as my POutlook is setup correctly.
Just thought I'd let you know you're not the only one experiencing this issue.
Hi, sorry I can't be of some help to you on your issue, but this pocket outlook is so crap, on my accounts I have it set to automatically connect and check for mail...well if there is mail in my gmail inbox..read or unread..and it connects and checks for mail..it clears out my inbox, it will say I have messages and list the sender and subject in the notification, but the inbox will be empty, then theres the imap issue of not putting sent messages in the sent folder, very aggrivating to not have a decent mail client, I tried Flexmail..it lists gmail as an auto configure...but that's just bs...cause all that does is list the "@gmail.com" not any ports or ssl settings...so I manually configured it..then it spazzes on the password screen and won't continue, not to mention I set it as default one time I installed and it totally jacked up pocket outlook..which led to hard reset number 1.
Sorry to rant off topic, but after reading others woes about pocket outlook, I couldn't stfu
nice (sorry) to see others having problems too! from your replies I am doing well. I also noticed the IMAP problem too, when connecting to ny bluyonder account the webmails deleted items were "trash" and would not be deleted

If it's the disappearing Google Mail emailsyou're talking about then the solution is to set it to retrieve headers and set it to 999KB

Thanks for the info, I'll give that a shot..I had had it set to receive full copy of messages.
And sorry again about your post timbouk.
I am having difficulties with e-mail notifications.
It seems that my Cingular 8525 really wants me to read my e-mail. I have 2 e-mail accounts 1 directpush, 1 pop3.
The directpush account doesn't seem to have an issue, but the pop3 account does. The notifications will continue to pop-up once every 15 minutes or so. If I dismiss the notification, it will continue to pop up. If I mark the mail as read, the notification pop-ups stop. Any ideas? I think that there is a utility to clear out the notification que, but will I have to run this every time I get mail? That doesn't make sense to me.
The other problem is the Pop3 (I EDIT THIS POST TO REMOVE DIRECTPUSH AND ADD POP3, it is pop3 that is getting mail all night) schedule. My phone doesn't seem to want to follow my schedule, I have it set to start at 7:00am and end at 7:00pm. But I can hear it getting e-mail all night long..... kind of annoying. I finally have turned off the notification sounds, but that too doesn't make sense.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

I just got my Mogul last week, and i find this one thing annoying -- I have it set up for Gmail, checking with POP3, and what it does is will only display mail it has not seen before, which would be fine, but if i have an email in my inbox on the phone it will get removed once it checks for mail again, even if it is still unread.
does anyone know if i can change that?
i would use IMAP but the problem with that is some messages won't display the body of the message on the phone.
So if you know of a fix to either of these i would appreciate it if you could enlighten me.
for pop3 check that its not set to download messeges from today only, and also make sure its not being deleted through gmails webaccess or some such
it is set to get the past 3 days, and they are set to stay on the server even after being downloaded through pop. I have had to go online to check it after my phone deleted one after a second send/recieve, so they are all still on the server. I just wish the phone would keep any message it downloads till i specificaly say to delete them.
I'm in the same boat with you. It's fairly annoying, to be honest. There are times when I'm not able to check my phone for email until it's already checked the server a couple of times. So when I can check it, any new messages I recieved after the first server check have already been cleared out of the inbox on my phone.
Is there no way to keep unread messages on the phone until they've been read or until I specifically tell the phone to delete them?
im not sure what the issue is, it works fine for me, messeges are always there, unread, on the phone until i mark them as read (even if i read them through the web access i still have to mark them read on the phone too) i dont know what other settings you can check
defaultdotxbe, could you possibly post the settings you have on your phone for checking your gmail account? and maybe even the settings you have under the POP3 tab in your gmail? maybe we'd be able to replicate exactly what you have for settings. it's probably that we have something set just slightly differently, and my guess is that it's going to be something in the gmail account settings, not the settings on our phones.
be sure of having this as username: recent:[email protected]

in the pop3 tab in gmail i have "Enable POP for all mail (even mail that's already been downloaded)" and "When messages are accessed with POP archive Gmail's copy"
on the phone i have all the default settings (automatically downloaded when i entered my email address) accept i change "download messeges from the past 3 days" to 7 days (although it works the same with 3 days)
im using sprint rom 2.17
I had the same issue. The username was the issue. Thx for that
yep, the username was what was wrong, thanks!
now when i send a message, the next time i check for messages it arrives as a new email... is there anyway to stop that?
nope, sorry
Hi all,
I know that i can manage my sync times for hotmail by going
start>messaging>menu>options>hotmail>sync schedule
so i can basically only get my hotmail emails during the day, or when i want them, but there doesn't seem to be a similar option with outlooks direct push.
just wondering is it a possibility, or am i missing something simple?
many thanks
The reason why you can choose not to sync during the night with your hotmail is because you need to check periodically if there is new mail on hotmail, thus using the internet connection regularly.
Push mail works the other way around: whenever the server gets a message, it will contact your device and tell it that there's new mail.
I think that for stopping Pushmail from sending you mails at night you need to change a serverside setting, because it is the server that does the work.
thank you very much for your help mate
i'm with you now!
You can set the schedule of your Exchange email by going to Programs > ActiveSync> Menu > Schedule
In Schedule you can set how often to sync for peak and off-peak times, so what you would probably want to do is set your off-peak times to "Manually" or "Every 4 hours" etc.
At the bottom of the page there is a link that directs you to the page of adjusting the Peak Times.
Hope this helps you.
Cheers

Sorry but that's wrong.
Hotmail is now pushed to WM6.1 phones when you use the Live Wizard to set it up. (Other webmail emails will need a 3rd party app).
If your Outlook is Exchange Push, then you should have the same settings for both.
Does anyone manage to configure push notifications on CM10 ?
I've read around some forums about how to configure push notifications for emails (gmail) as it turns out that CM10 is not pushing emails , I can only set fetch interval wich is not good. Only way to receive emails instantly is push notifications. But when I try to configure acout it says that I'm not able to use server 'm.google.com' !? WTF? how do I configure push emails on CM10?
push failing
