Hi all. I bought samsung a9 few days ago. Device is excellent but support is minor hede on xda. Why not add it to this subforum, it is part of a series?
Thanks
I course of support ! Just the theme you need to expand that search would have worked. For example " Support Samsung Galaxy SM-A9000"
Yes please, support Samsung Galaxy A9, A9 pro. SM-A9000, SM-A9100.

I installed a recovery.img of A9000-PC2-TWRP-3.02-0405 via A9000-TWRP-PA7 (2.8.7-based).
Display problem of the CPU temperature on A9000-TWRP-PA7 has also been fixed.

Tell me Please , confused. I have the firmware A9000ZHU1APD3 on the phone. What I can install that would appeared on the phone TWRP custom Recovery ?
This (A9000-PC2-TWRP-3.02-0405) is true for my firmware? Where i can download A9000-PC2-TWRP-3.02-0405 ?
I had flash the A9000-PC2-TWRP-3.02-0405 to My SM-A9000 (A9000ZHU1APB4).
You'll find it in "baidu" If you search the "A9000-PC2-TWRP-3.02-0405" on Google.
I also was afraid to introduce it...
But on the experience, the case of soft brick (if possible in the power-on) can be recovered in most cases.
If there is an initial ROM and ODIN and adb.

My A9 is also already rooted and introduced TWRP.
So I cant OTA update on my device.
I must give up root privileges and TWRP to update via ODIN.

Everything is in place. Updated the firmware using Odin, then again set using Odin autoroot. Applications not so much, but all were. I didn't do the reset.
Now I really want to put Cusrom Recovery, but don't know how?
Flash the A9000-PC2-TWRP-3.02-0405.tar via ODIN
(pls check the PM inbox of xda)
same way as YouTube that you have posted.
In that Video has been flushed to the A9100.
Files that are used to it you will see that it is A9100-PC4-TWRP-3.02-0405.
A9100-PC4-TWRP-3.02-0405 (for A9100) and A9000-PC2-TWRP-3.02-0405 (for A9000) has been build by same person (xiao1u).
There is a newer TWRP file for 9100 "A9100-APD1-TWRP-3.02-0419". Anyway it works fine on my A9 pro. Got google apps on as well.
I want to see official a9100 spec, where to find?
Is it also China localized or not have any app on Chinese ?
Thanks

I have downloaded A9000-PC2-TWRP-3.02-0405 too (not yet tried), but steberg writes that there is new firmware(A9100-APD1-TWRP-3.02-0419). Now I don't know which to flash...
A9100-APD1-TWRP-3.02-0419 is TWRP for SM-A9100 (A9 pro)......
So Scratching their heads I think whether to run this thing on my A9 (not Pro)...
Flashed the CF-Auto-Root and A9000-PC2-TWRP-3.02-0405 to my A9 (updating to A9000ZHU1APD3).
Restarted with flash the A9000-PC2-TWRP-3.02-0405 in a few mins.
(It took a very long time to restart the previous ver. of A9000-TWRP-PA7....)
SuperSU v2.71 that has been introduced in the CF-Auto-Root was unstable in some apps..
So I was overwrite v2.65 from TWRP.
Problem has not occurred now.
TWRP backup, restore, install xposed was OK.
So, I can go with this newer recovery on same APD3 rooted, same as yours?
And how you have updated rooted rom to newer stock?
Thanks

i cant update my device coz the system detects that my device has been rooted though i already unroot it in the SuperSU app as stated on the One Click root thread.
Flashed with flash tool over 20h on a phone from VDF Romania. All went well, nothing spectacular to report works and seems as snappy (or choppy) as 20H was. Needs some settling in to decide but guess there are improvements (or slowdowns) somewhere there deep in the code.
hi can someone confirm the baseband version on their about .
i just flashed the modem only and i want to confirm it went ok.

FWIW... I purchased my phone on June 19, and was able to root it the next day using CF-Auto-Root by exactly following the directions in chainfire's thread. (It did trip Knox, but that wasn't a concern for me.)
Today I successfully installed Philz Recovery version 6.58.9 via Odin 3.07, exactly following the directions in this post from the main philz thread, and it worked fine.
There were a few mis-steps in the process where the root or recovery didn't "take" properly, but in each case it turned out I'd done something wrong in Odin - used the wrong file or left a box checked/unchecked.
Phone specs:
SM-G900W8 on Rogers
Build number LRX2IT.G900W8VLU1BOC1
Kernel version 3.4.0-4100894
Android version 5.0 stock (no upgrades applied before applying root or recovery)
So there may be hope for you?

Actually the DPE2 firmware is posted as a zip, but once you unzip your download (which is over 2 GB in size, btw!) you will have a .tar.md5 file that you flash with Odin in the usual way.
As for the question of whether you actually _can_ flash the DPE2 firmware for the N910W8 on the N910T, at least one developer, Ovrdrive, who tried it on his N910T said it wouldn't boot, and I haven't seen any posts here from anyone saying they got it to work on a N910T. So - any brave soul who tried DPE2 on his N910T and made it work should post about his success here.

NO it will not work on the 910T. not through Odin anyways as the model number won't match. Sefrcoko is working on a flashable zip and deodexing but at the moment is having issues with deodexing so it may work through flashing in recovery with a MM kernel. We will have to wait and see

I've never used Samfirm. I was talking specifically about the zip files posted at sammobile (link for the N910W8 version in my previous post), which are intended to be unzipped to a .tar.md5 and flashed with Odin.

I assume that since you upgraded to MM, and T-Mobile has yet to ship MM, you have a N910W8 and you installed DPE2. It's the bootloader that came with DPE2 that is the problem. All the custom ROMs, even the MM port ones, are intended for the most recent T-Mobile bootloader, which is DOK2 Lollipop 5.1.1, or the most recent Canadian equivalent, COK3 Lollipop 5.1.1. When and if T-Mobile finally, FINALLY ships their version of MM, the custom ROMs here will probably be based on that bootloader instead. T-Mo and Samsung should be ashamed about how long MM is taking. Verizon has it. EVERY Canadian carrier has it. Looks like T-Mo is shooting for the distinction of being the very last carrier anywhere to ship MM.
Anyway, until then you need to use Odin to downgrade to COK3 (or, at least the COK3 bootloader) before any currently available custom ROMs will boot.

No one can confirm for the moment.
But there are already reports saying that they flash TWRP and Magisk for root then installed Magisk Manager from Play Store.
Has anyone successfully, and without subsequent issues, rooted the g4 XT1622?
I have unlocked the bootloader and installed TWRP. Have tried flashing two separate versions of Super SU (version 2.78 and 2.82) .
Each appears to flash successfully and complete but when rebooting phone stays on a black screen.
I then have to reboot into recovery and restore the Nandroid backup.
I tried Kingroot but that says no solution for this device.
If anyone has managed it I'd be grateful for the detail.

Indeed you are correct. The stock kernel does not have an exploit for root access, that's why SuperSU and Magisk leave you at a black screen upon flashing the zip file. Having any custom kernel should fix the problem(Vegito or ElementalX).

Thanks - I may be trying to do something wrong but when I tried to flash ElementalX from the app it returned a message that the device needed to be rooted to install ElementalX. I wasn't sure where to go from there.
yes, i am running rooted G4 (xt1622) with TWRP and super su 2.78 now. as far as I can remember, there is one line of code like 'systemless=true' (or something similar, it's easy to search online) to enter via the Linux terminal. Then it can be rooted successfully. without that line, i got a soft-bricked mogo g4 as well (black screen forever).
it's a shame that the rooted phone cannot install OTA updates at all. I am still on Android 6.0.1 (which is the stock rom and very old). I am planning to restore to stock then upgrade to Nougat recently.

I really appreciate your great help. still confused about the procedure that needs to take:
plan a:
1. go back to ATHENE_MPJ24.139.23.4(the current one, 6.0.1), everything including the stock recovery
2. wait for OTA, update a couple times to the latest nougat
plan b:
1. flash the file from your link which is ATHENE_NPJS25.93-14-4,
2. is this the end?
I do notice the difference in the name: MPJ vs. NPJS, does that matter? I flashed several phones, but never figure out what the names meant.

MPJ = Marshmallow
NPJS = Nougat
I think flashing last firmware is the best thing to do in your case. I have a batch file you can use if you want

Note: You do need minimal adb & fastboot files inside flashing folder (You probably already know that but just to be sure)
