Tomtom and sygic screen going to sleep - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

I'm finding that when driving my sat nav apps are seemingly randomly not able to keep the screen awake and it goes to sleep.
Anyone else found this and any ideas for a fix?

A bump for the Sunday crew.

There is an app in Playstore called Battery Booster where you can go into the settings and go to Screen Timeout settings and set Screen Timeout to never.

This drives me crazy as well. I would LOVE a fix!

To get your screen to stay on, you can do the following:
Tap 'Menu' -> 'Settings'. Go to 'Applications' -> 'Development'. check 'Stay Awake'.
The only thing that bugs me about this is that it will still dim the backlight after the duration of your screen timeout setting. So if you have it set to sleep your screen after 30secs, instead of sleeping your screen, it'll dim it. It's fine while driving at night but in the day it sucks. Still though, you can just tap your screen and it brightens up again.

Yes I realized this as well. Like u said its fine during night driving but at daytime u can't even tell its on sometimes depending the direction of sunlight. Also I realized that when I'm playing music using the HTC player it stops after every track. It will not change to the next track unless I press the now playing button on the bottom right. This only happens when its docked, and changes to the next track without a problem when not docked. Anyone else find a way to fix these issues?

Screen off while using WAZE

While I'm using Waze GPS for navigation, the screen goes off after x seconds (according to my screen timeout settings).
Is this normal? Shouldn't the screen be always on while I'm inside the app?
Thanks in advance

Yes it should, though I have noticed that if the Screen timeout is set to 15 seconds, it doesn't work. only 30 and above. Try it
The app has to specifically tell the phone that the screen should not be turned off. Check the settings of the app; it might have a setting that keeps the screen always on. If it doesn't, you can find some apps in the market that will keep the screen on when a specific application is running.
I use Waze on my SII and the screen doesn't time out. Although, as a eitama suggested, my screen timeout is set to 30s instead of the default 15s. Give that a try for sure.

Location mode changes automatically on screen off

I noticed something strange the past few day. The location settings on on my 6P change to "Battery Saving" every time the screen is off. When I turn it back on and change it to high accuracy, it automatically reverts back to battery saving after I turn off the screen.
It used to work fine because Runkeeper and Runtastic used to track perfectly with screen off, but now as soon as I turn off the screen the gps location is lost. Any idea?
Running latest May update, with Xposed and gravity Box.

Turn off screen = lost GPS signal

I am not able to figure this out.
The moment my screen is shut down/going to sleep, my GPS signal is lost. This means I cannot use Maps navigator i.e. while the screen is off.
I can't figure out how to fix this. Anyone here that can help me?
This is not a fix for your problem but maybe you can use your GPS with this get around:
Install GPS Staus from playstore: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.eclipsim.gpsstatus2
Go into the settings menu from the app
Navigate to Background behavior
Turn on: Use GPS when screen is off

Display timeout

Recently I have noticed when I set my phone down the screen stays turned on. Has anyone else had this issue? The screen just will not turn off I have readjusted the timeout settings. Stay awake is not turned on in developer options. It only happens on the home screen. While I'm browsing the internet or doing just about anything else the screen will time out properly.
So no one else is having this issue?
