Reverse Camera Not Working - Android Head-Units

I have recently updates my firmware and rooted my device. Since then my reverse camera has stopped working.
Does anyone know what this could be?

And the brand is, what firmware and what MCU. You took a photo of your original setting I suppose.

Hi
Yes I did take a picture of my original settings. No idea what make the unit is though. I don't know how to find out?
The MCU has remained the same but the firmware is now Malaysks latest firmware.
Everything on it runs perfect but now when I put it into reverse the screen is black.

Next question, Can-bus or Direct reverse? Easiest is to check if you get +12 volt at reverse input at the HU when you're in reverse.
Normally it's an orange with a black strip being reverse cable.

Well that's a good point actually. In the factory settings canbus is marked as None. I couldn't find anything matching my car in the list so left it. Could that be it?
It is a 12volt reverse wire I believe. Into the reverse light.

If it is a wire, do as I said, check the voltage when in reverse. Should be around +12V.
If the camera is connected straight to the HU-loom cam input, the can-bus has nothing to do with
reverse.
Since you took a picture, check your recent setting for the can-bus in factory settings.

It came on kind of but in very faint black and white. Something isn't quite right with it.

Audi A3 + Pumpkin HU + CAN power off

I recently bought Pumpkin head unit to my Audi A3. HU itself is quite nice, fits like original, and software is surprisingly good and stable (I had some doubts but decided to buy it anyway). Problem is that there is no ACC wired in car's connectors, instead original unit is powered off via CAN. Now, when I turn off the engine, HU powers off too, while it should stay on, and power off when I pull the key from ignition switch. This means, I can't listen music without having all ignition powers turned on. I earlier had an Alpine HU, and it worked perfectly, eg. powered off when I pulled key from ignition switch.
Is there any way to tweak this behaviour in android side? Or is this CAN decoder's job? Other than powering off, CAN controls seems to work ok (multifunction wheel, dimming, etc).
Details from my unit are: RK3188, KLD6, 800x480. CAN-bus decoder doesn't have much info, just KLD(AUDI-SS-01), SS-AD011030158-0.

Mine came with a harness that tied into my canbus, I'm sure your unit has the capability you probably just need the decoder that is specific to your vehicle. On a side note I to have a RK3188 800x480 and am looking for someone to pull the stock recovery. If you're willing let me know it won't harm your unit.

Don't know about the decoder, it should be ok, at least there's "For: AUDI A3/A4" in it. Tried to google it, I can find lot's of same looking decoders, but not much helpful info about it.
I can pull the stock firmware, just need to learn how to do it. I've been doing electronics and linux stuff for ages, but Android world is still bit new to me.

Since I still have so low post count, I can't post links. Google "11-C1217-UK-A" and you will find correct HU from Pumpkin's website.
I sent question to Pumpkin too, and an answer from them: "it's normal when you turn the ignition key to off position the unit will switch off, cause the unit switching off is controlled by your car canbus system, and it sync with your car instrument panel".
Still, I don't consider this as a normal, since Audi OE head unit, and also earlier Alpine head unit didn't power off until I actually took the key off from the ignition switch. All Audi's I have and have had behaves like this, from the oldest Audi 80 (1994) to the newest.
So, is there any ways to analyze CAN data, and tweak the unit so that it would power off when key is taken away from ignition switch?
Dave, sorry I still don't have the recovery image, so busy days, and I'm missing USB cable to connect to the unit. But ADB is installed etc, so it will come eventually

No rush whenever you have time my unit is working just no recovery.
I think I remember reading in the HU Q&A thread a way to change canbus options I'll try to find it.

Hi there, ive recently installed the same on my A3 (well an android head) can you tell me the age of yours and what loom connector you bought? some of them mix the live and ignition live up and they just need swopping over.
PS are your rear speakers working? took me ages to fix mine

My A3 is 2005. I have ISO connectors (non-BOSE), since originally my A3 is single din and I converted it to double din. I have checked wires again and again, they seem to be fine. Permanent live goes where it should, and ACC hasn't been wired at all in car side, because of CAN power off. You have same Pumpkin HU?
My rears are working OK, I just have to set fader quite heavily to back, like 70-80%. I had the same problem with earlier Alpine unit, had to set fader way back.

It seems that your unit is KGL/HuiFei (mine's KLD/Klyde), so there's propably some differences. Also CAN adapter might be different. Can you confirm this?

I think the only way is to use adb over WiFi.
If you need to root your HU this is the method I used
Flashing a pre-rooted rom doesn't seem to be the only way any more. If you go to Settings->Factory Settings, and enter**#hct#root#* as the password, it enables root on the device.
This appears to be a permanent root which persists after reboots.

So it seems, at least usb was all dead for adb. Need to study more, first time ever trying to debug Android.
Actually, seller agreed to accept return and refund the unit, so I might switch to HuiFei/KGL unit if I just get a confirmation that it works better. Now I just would like to know if this CAN issue is because of the CAN bus decoder, or because of unit configuration. It was mentioned earlier that GreenYi unit works, and it seems to be KGL, but then again, I don't know is it decoder or unit which makes the decision of power off.

That is strange, with it set to Audi does it stay on until you pull the key out? There's also a steering wheel mapping utility in factory setting I believe have you tried changing that with Audi selected? Make sure you take a screen shot of your original settings.

Just Bought. Erisin ES3015V 8" VW Android 5.1 Car DVD GPS Player

Hello All,
as the subject says I have just recieved my "Erisin ES3015V 8" VW Android 5.1 Car DVD GPS Player" just for information, if any one wants to know anything about it just ask, id be glad to share.
http://www.erisinwholesale.com/spec...v-8-vw-android-51-car-dvd-gps-player-466.html
First impressions, looks good, feels ok, every thing ive tested so far worked great, bluetooth, wifi connected to hotspot on phone, radio (great reception) navigation.
Its super fast and responsive, must go into sleep mode because its instant on when you push the button.
If you want any logs or screen shots, dumps etc you might have to tell me how to get them, as its my first android head unit so im still playing with all the settings etc.
Also trying to find a goods apps or things you can do with it as I love to tinker.
Kind Regards Guy
Hallo also bought the Erisin 3015GE and is instantly on after pressing the button. Hope it will not run the battery flat.
So far confident with the device.
Need to find out how the 3g connectivity works, there is no options in settings.
Just went out to see my batteries flat, need to figure this out.
I had the ACC dip switch on the back on when it should have been off, now the stanby and complete shut down work a treat.
Regards
Hi, I've also just bought one of these units but I'm thinking the display is questionable as the colours seem very washed out. Any chance you could take a photo of your unit on the home screen to compare?

My unit arrived with all 4 DIP switched on the off position, and so far I haven't had a flat battery and the unit powers off when the key is removed.
Can you guys give us a quick review of the unit, I am trying to see if I should buy this or another.
Also, is this bright enough to see in the daytime? Color accuracy?
I had some issues with the colours on the unit I received, and was offered to be sent a replacement main board to replace myself, or to return the unit for a replacement or refund. I opted for the refund and ended up getting a similar model from Joying.
The support were relatively helpful, although you had to wait a day for a reply due to the time differences between here and China. (I imagine that is the case for all the similarly priced manufacturers though)
From the limited use I gave the unit it seemed ok, the weather app on the main screen wouldn't update, I believe there is a firmware update available for it but Erisin don't seem to make the firmware publicly available. As I was returning it anyway I didn't look particularly far into this, so there is every possibility Erisin have a patch for it.

Hallo checksum
The brihtness of display is ok, The brightness settings are not possible to be dimmed enough for night use.
There is an icon to dimm the display completely which i use.
Need to figure out if i can link the display off function to some button.
Ale colours seems to be fine. Not tried any dvds, need to drive when I am in the car.
But can somebody share experience with FM reception ?
My reception is more poor (in central europe)
Connected to the oem antenna, and only strong signal stations are received well. Lower signals are terrible and i have falouts of stations and crossing of 2 signals. Or the station runs good and in few 100m comes to serious disturbtion of signal.
Oem radio was having absolutely perfect reception.
Anyone have other experience with fm ?
Does anyone knows how to connect the 3G dongle. Wanted to stream music from internet instead

good fm quality.

You need to enter factory settings in settings menu. Then it asks you for the code

I figured out how to power off the screen with a hardware button.
Enter factory settings with code 3368. Choose the buttons menu on top.
Choose the first option (not touch buttons)
Press the hardware key which u want to use.
I choosed the power button. Now you can choose for short press the screen off symbol and long press as power off.
Save it and you're done
I really like this headunit now ?

How about the external Mic jack - if an external mic is connected, is the internal mic disabled or is it still working? Does this unit also require the BT hardware modification for the external mic to work properly?

I'm sure this varies, but I bought this unit a week or so ago, with MCU 1.63.1 and Kernel 3.0.101+. FM reception isn't great, but not horrible either. Have only driven in the city though. DAB+ reception is fine, although I don't really like the app and the antenna that came with the package is useless to me (looks like an antenna made for your desk, not a car). I'm in the process of finding a window antenna instead. Once I get that sorted and hopefully find a better dab app I'll be happy.

Help with backup camera troubleshooting

Hello,
The past few months i've been having a bit of trouble getting my reverse camera that I bought to get working.
Just the other day I finally got it to get power, however I haven't been lucky with having the camera show up in the display.
A few things on my setup:
1. Rather than the camera being set up to the reverse cable, the canbus decoder sets the display into the reverse view mode. Upon going into reverse, I can see that the led lights are powered on the camera.
2. I tried using the CVBS-1 and CVBS-2 cables and opening the AVIN app but it doesn't show up there.
I was thinking it might be the video cable, which I am waiting for the replacement to come in. I also am thinking it might be the 10pin cable that has the Camera in port. I've ordered a replacement for that as well, however itll probably take a few months to get here as its coming from china.
For reference, this is the head unit i have: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Android-10-1-Car-Stereo-Radio-MP5-GPS-Navi-10-1-For-2012-2014-Toyota-USA-Camry/203076618926?_trkparms=aid=111001&algo=REC.SEED&ao=1&asc=20160908105057&meid=6b52cf6b9ea94b22bda03cb1b802a577&pid=100675&rk=2&rkt=15&mehot=none&sd=384073720925&itm=203076618926&pmt=0&noa=1&pg=2380057&brand=Unbranded&_trksid=p2380057.c100675.m4236&_trkparms=pageci:3ebb94ac-942a-11eb-863d-0242078e2a3a|parentrq:95b68f031780a4d7d1242d69ffa9b5ee|iid:1
Anyway, Is there anything else I might need to try? Any settings i might need to change in the Factory settings?
Any help is appreciated. Thank you.
Edit: Tried a new video cable and had no luck. Could be the camera, could be the settings. Not sure
have you tried to change the video format which if i remember is in car settings

Reverse camera turns on when i go above 40mph (HELP)

Hi
Just fitted this unit to my volvo c70 mk2 2006.
https://a.aliexpress.com/_Eu0IrVr
I have got the device to work perfectly but there is one problem.
When ever I go over 40mph the screen switches on to the reverse camera and that only stops when I go back below 40mph.
There is saddly no way to just turn off the reverse camera in the settings and if I unplug it the screen still goes back with no signal in the middle of it.
If Any one has any input why this is happening or how to solve it I would be very grateful.
Here is what the unit is running on currently.

I think the can box is connected to PIN 14 of the heat unit and can control the head unit to switch to the reverse camera.
The CAN box might misinterpret a CAN signal and outputs a 12V+ signal to pin 14.
This is what I have no wire is going I to pin 14 though. Only a blue going pin 15

Then you should check if you can find another CAN setting which is compatible with the box.
Usually there should be a factory setting where you can select your car/model.

There is only volvo option in OD even though it says its for a c70 etc.
Ok solution/work around.
The pin on the canbus unit that controls the reverse camera was pin 7.
I have cut the wire to this pin an spliced s switch in.
When I need the camera to reverse onto my caravan flick the switch in go into reverse.
Not quite as intended but it fixed the issue.
Thanks for all the help!
