Issues With Google Play Movies - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

I'm having issues with Google Play movies not being able to stream or play downloaded content. I've cleared the cache per the trouble shooting guide, uninstalled updates. Still not working. The error I get is "there was an error. If the problem persists, try restarting your phone".

Any thoughts? Very frustrating. Works fine on my Nexus 6p. If hate to call Google support. Could it have something with using 935f in the States, CSC?

Well, doing some experimenting it seems whenever I root my device it causes me to have issues with playing back movies through Google Play Movies. I'm not sure why but it does..

Sure, I remember this happened with samsung since I rooted my old S4 , play movies stopped working as it wouldn't stream anything.
Try deleting (with root browser or ES explorer) "liboemcrypto.so" file under /system/vendor/lib , reboot and should be working now.

Hey I wanted to let you know that after deleting that file and rebooting, my Google Play Movies and TV works flawlessly. No more lagging/stuttering/ and errors. I don't know what that file contained but since it's gone I'm not having any issues. Thank you

All my music player apps freeze after the song I select finishes.

I'm having a problem playing my music. Any application I use to play my music will only play the first song I select, but as soon as that song finishes, the entire application freezes and the only way I can close it is by using the task manager. Even if I try skipping the song mid-way, the application freezes. Anyone else experience/d this? Any help would be much appreciated.
I'm running on Froyo 2.2.1 DK28, ROM: AhmgskMod TrulyEpic V2.06.12.10
You deleted those 3 or so DRM APKs didn't you? My phone was always having this problem right after I flashed a new rom and I think I literally JUST found out what was causing it because my phone was doing it again after updating to DK28. Usually I go thru and delete all those APKs that I don't need and then set up my apps and I would havethe same exact problem as you describe weather I'm using the stock music app or mixzing or anything else. But now what I did was restore those 3 DRM APKs that I always delete first, rebooted, then sure enough I was able to skip forward without anything freezing. Then I went thru and deleted those three APKs again and then rebooted and I was still able to skip forward and back no problem.
So what I'm sayin I that I think you first need to play some music in the player or anything BEFORE you go and delete all those DRM related APKs otherwise you will run into this problem.

Ya. I did delete this apks. What do you reccomend I do? Can I just restore them now and then reboot my phone or do I have to completely re flash, play some music and then delete those apks?
Just try what I did and hopefuly it will fix it, I'm interested to see I it does fix it for you. Hopefully you made backups of all those DRM APKs that you had deleted, just restore them, reboot, play some music and see if it still freezes when you try to skip ahead, if it works then delete those APKs again, reboot and see if it still plays without freezing. That worked for me.
I might add that I deleted one APK at a time and rebooted after each delete because I was curious to see which one was causing the freezing but after each delete my music player still played fine. So I'm sure you can delete them all at once and still be fine

What I did was restore them (I had back ups), reboot the phone, then played a few songs (the music players were all working again, so the problem had to do with the drm apks), deleted the apks and then rebooted the phone again. Everything works fine now! Thanks a lot for the help
Glad to hear that fixed it for you as well. So then I must be right that you need to play some music or media files first before deleting those DRM APKs otherwise you will run into this issue. Maybe this is also the reason that my home encoded .mp4's that worked on my epic stock when I first got it would not play in the video player after messing around with deleting that stuff first, I will have to see when I get home from work.

Can't find Netflix in Play Store of my new Android TV/Nexus Player

I just got a new Android TV/Nexus Player device. And was able to find other media apps either installed as soon as I set things up or via going to the Google Play Store app in the Android TV device. But I have not been able to find Netflix. And when I go to Google Play using a PC web browser, the page for the Netflix app says that Netflix is not compatible with my "No carrier Asus Nexus Player".
Anyone know why? I've searched here and been unable to find an answer so far. I know there's the ability to side load apps. But being new to Nexus Player, I'd just like to get Netflix quickly installed via Play Store if possible.
Any help is appreciated.
Worked with Netflix support. Did a hard reset and entered my Google credentials manually. And Netflix is there now.
Just setup my Nexus Player... same issue. Netflix is MIA on the device and Google Play Store says Nexus Player isn't compatible.
Can you provide a bit more detail on the fix Netflix gave you? Hard reset what? The NP? Manually entered Google credentials? Where? TIA.

Reset to factory settings
After you reset to Factory settings, the first thing on screen will be a prompt for Language/Region. Be sure you pick the correct one for where you are, since Netflix won't work with some selections. I don't know which don't work. Mine is "English US". After that, you'll be asked to setup your Google account. Which you can do via web browser or entering your Google ID/password manually on the Nexus Player. I entered my manually on the Nexus Player.
I've attempted resets and manually entering passwords, disabling location, enabling location and still no luck.
This is a brand new out of the box Nexus Player yet I cannot access Netflix due to it thinking I'm "out of region" or something.
Just got mine today and same problem. What I did was go to settings>apps (under the device menu). Under system apps, find Google play store and click it. Click force stop and OK it. Clear cache, then clear data. Click open and Netflix should be there.
Same problem.
try update your Nexus player to lolipop 5.1.1 in Setting > apps > About
go on the google play website and find Netflix compatible with android tv
Same problem; updated to 5.1.1, factory reset, updated all apps, still no Netflix available on Google Play.
So I downloaded the APK found at
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-player/help/netflix-apk-t3121671
and installed it. Worked perfectly.
It seems there are newer versions of the apk (http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/netflix-inc/) but I haven't tried it.
I don't have a micro USB adapter to use an external storage, so I placed the apk on a windows share in the network and pulled it with ES File Explorer on the Nexus Player.
You need to allow the installation of non-Play Store apps in Settings, Security.

Just grab the APK file somewhere legit. That's what I did when it didn't appear in the Play Store. Maybe you can even request it from them. I dunno.

Google Play music not updating..

So now with songza gone. I tried to using google play music on my Nexus player but it seems to be stuck on an old version. 5.9.1854R when the current version is 6.3.2317v. And I need that version to get the Songza playlist items that have now been incorporated into google play music.. but my nexus player will not update.. it tells me my old version is current. Any one else having this issue?
I have noticed the same thing. The only thing I was able to do to get the streaming playlists on the NP right now was to cast from Google Play Music on an Android device. Google should have planned this better.
Hmmm yea just realized this as well.
Ya I also just did a force install of the latest google play music APK and it just crashes when you open the program. Wonder when they will fix this...
Was coming on to post the same results.. Wonder if play services needs to be updated as well?
I just subscribed for a month and it showed up, so it seems to be just a paid service

I'm having the same problem. Works fine on all my other devices. I'm in Canada, in case this may be a regional thing.
My subscription expired. and access to the streaming gone as well
Hello guys
Try to clear cache and app data, worked for me. Using stock Android 7.0 and latest GPM version.

Google Play Music - library not showing up

I cannot get my mp3's to show up in Google Play Music. The are under /storage/emulated/0/Music. I have one song under the Music folder and another folder under Music.
I have wiped data for the app and uninstalled and reinstalled the app.
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks

Did you get your issue resolved. My downloaded music will not show up as well.

Downloaded music doesn't appear in a public folder like that - it's in the app's data folder, partially encrypted (meaning filenames are obfuscated, but play fine once copied).

No I didn't. I just figured I was stupid or something.
I have my music under a folder called Music. It's not buried under another folder. It worked on my Note 3 but not on this phone.

I've had this problem multiple times but can't quite recall how I fixed it. I think I went to settings>apps>options>show system>clear data for media storage and clear data for play music>reboot. If that doesn't work, use a root file explorer(assuming you have root) and look for a .nomedia file in your media directories.

I've tried this multiple times and it hasn't worked. I've uninstalled Play Music and reinstalled. I also verified that there is no .nomedia hidden file.

Cleared media storage as well? Hmm. You could try xposed media scanner optimizer if you use xposed and really determined to try and fix this.

Yeah, several times.
I gave up and am using Music Folder Player.
I'm on Pure Nexus with no mods.
This was bothering me alot when I was heavy on adding/moving music in my subfolders under my Music folder. There are still some tracks I can't play.
I too tried the clear data clear cache uninstall reinstall etc etc. Sometimes it'll work sometimes it wont. I also took my tracks out of their subfolders and put it all in a general folder sometimes that would work too. Very annoying lol

Google Play Movies app won't work offline

Hi all
Have a rooted S8, everything is running fine apart from one little glitch... The Google Play Movies app won't allow me to view purchased films offline. I am able to stream, no problems, I can download the item but once downloaded, said film won't play. I receive an error message saying I need to restart device... Which doesn't work BTW!
So far I have cleared app cache, uninstalled app and reinstalled, updated app, tried the download on internal and external memory, no luck. I have tried all different movies. The app works fine on my tablet. So it's device specific. I have spoken to Google who have confirmed my account is clear and phone is connecting on OK.
Has anyone else encountered this or have any suggestions... It's very frustrating.. I can only think the rooted handset is causing a glitch?
Thank you in advance, Jackie
Have you tried using a different player? Or download it and move it in your google drive and use the drive's default video player?
Hi, thanks for your reply
I believe you can't use any other player... the format of the video, which is broken up into separate segmented files for this specific reason, is only playable via their (Google) own app.. And I'm not sure how you would download it to Google Drive...
Would love to know if anyone else has experienced this issue...
