Can't root my Grand Prime... - Galaxy Grand Prime Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone! I want to say thanks for all the great info you provide in these forums! You have helped me root many devices successfully. This is my first time posting a thread here, and I hope someone can help me. Here goes...
I have the Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime U.S. Cellular (SM-G530R4) that I am trying very hard to root. I tried King Root, which said it could root my device, but after doing so the first restart of the device resulted in a soft bring with big message saying Custom Binary Blocked by FRP Lock. I've done hours of research and that seems to be common problem. So I downloaded and Flashed Stock firmware back to the device successfully. I did more research on rooting my phone and all I can find for other methods is CF Autoroot. Typically this works well for me, but on this phone it is not. Here is whats happening when I try to flash CF Autoroot -
I enabled USB Debugging, restart my phone in download mode and connect to USB. In Odin I select PDA and select the CF Autoroot TAR file. Click on Start. Odin reports: File analysis-success, setupconnection, initialization, Get PIT for mapping, firmware update start, singledownload, recovery.img, NAND write start, FAIL! complete(write) operation failed.
At this point I look at the phone which on the download screen reports: Product Name-SM-G530R4, Current Binary-Samsung Official, System Status-Official, FRP Lock- On, Knox Warranty Void- 0x0, Qualcom Secure Boot- Enable (CSB), AP SWREC: S1 T1 H1 R1 A1 P1, Secure Download-Enable, CUSTOM BINARY(RECOVERY) BLOCKED BY FRP LOCK. (Note that when trying to flash CF Autoroot, the FRP lock message includes "Recovery" where as when the device was already rooted with King Root and then restarted, the message did not contain the "Recovery" but was otherwise identical and stand alone in BIG letters. With the device already rooted by King Root, FRP Lock actually bricked the device. But when trying to root with CF Autoroot, FRP lock only blocked the flashing and I am able to restart the device and load up as if nothing ever happened. I really want to root my phone, but I need your help to make FRP Lock allow flashing the custom binary, and to do so without soft bricking it!! Ive seen a lot of people with the problem of FRP Lock softbricking their phones, but I can't find anything at all on FRP Lock stopping you from even flashing the custom binary. Thank you in advance for any help you can offer!
P.S. If its of any importance The device is US Cellular SM-G530R4 - Android 5.1.1 - Baseband Version G530R4TYU1AOL2 [This is the newest Update] - Build Number LMY47X.G530R4TYU1AOL2

I have two SM-G531's, and this SuperUser works on LP 5.1.1, also works with the SM-G531F..I'm not familiar with your variant, but give this a try, flash this file via TWRP recovery, then do a normal boot..(will NOT work with stock recovery)..
Here >> https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bzr_08QESKW4Um1LSzdNM1JONTg/view?usp=drivesdk
Thing is, I don't know if TWRP is available for your variant, do a search for any 530 variant and give it a try..the 531 variant (I'm pretty sure) uses a different CPU than the 530, which is very important with a custom recovery..maybe CWM offers a recovery for your variant, I say TWRP because it's the only recovery I use..
One would flash a custom recovery (TWRP or CWM) via Odin3 on a PC..be sure and have "No reboot" checked on left column in Odin3, then after recovery flash, while device is idle in "Download mode" unplug from PC, then pull the battery..with device OFF, then boot to recovery (the normal way) via the three button press, the device will boot to the custom recovery, then with the SuperUser file I supplied, via "storage" or the SD Card, one would flash via the (Install) button in TWRP..then boot normally..
TIP: If the device is not turned off after a custom recovery flash, the custom recovery flash will not stick and the device will revert to stock recovery..device MUST be turned OFF then booted to the custom recovery that was just flashed..
I'm sorry if I offend with my explanation, not sure of your understanding level of all this..lol

P.S.
If you continue having FRP issues..which you shouldn't, BUT..if you do..here is a zip file I worked up for my personal use..unzip this file to your PC somewhere, included in this zip, is a MS Word (.doc) file for instructions..in this instruction sheet, replace OTG with SD Card instead, you'll copy the (.apk) file to your device SD Card or storage, then install the apk included..I do most of my flashing via OTG instead..
Here >> https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bzr_08QESKW4dWp0Wlo5RUMtN28/view?usp=drivesdk
Do this ONLY if you keep getting the FRP issue..
I hope all this helps you reach your goal..

After flash firmware using both Odin/Z3X Pro, the message screen "Custom binary blocked by FRP" still there.
1 - I tried all versions of stock roms from: sammobile (android 5.1, 6.0), SamFirm (last firmware).
2 - I tried separated firmware repair files (BL, CP, CSC, etc..)
3 - KIES and Smart Switch same alert that SM-J500M does not have support for initialization emergency:
Is there another way to turn FRP off? :crying:

G-928F - Verity 0x02 and modem.bin FAIL! - History repeating...

I bought this device from a fleamarket and have the following issues :
It was (still is) FRP locked (Android 5.1.1) so I flashed the Combination ROM (COMBINATION_FA51_G928FXXU4ARA1.zip ), realizing, adb commands from "FRP_Techeligible.bat" wont work:
adb devices
adb shell content insert --uri content://settings/secure --bind name:s:user_setup_complete --bind value:s:1
adb shell am start -n com.google.android.gsf.login/
adb shell am start -n com.google.android.gsf.login.LoginActivity
pause
The Combination ROM worked just fine.
My fault, the combination ROM was for 7.x.x.
But why doesnt it work anymore ? Bootloader incompatibilities ?
I started ODIN.
So I went for the 7.0 Stock ROM (Vodafone), ending up with the "modem.bin FAIL!" in Odin.
Also I have no idea if its vodafone branded.
I renamed "hidden.img" to "hidden.img.tar" and flashed it seperately. But it did not help.
It goes to recovery and says "No Support SINGLE-SKU", Supported API:3, dm-veritfy error... failed code: 0x02"
Flashing the Combination ROM failed afterwards.
In Recovery I do now see Android 7.0 (G928FXXS5CRH1), but I get the 0x02 Verity Error on top of it.
Wiping doesnt help anymore it seems.
It will only boot into recovery and I can still enter download mode.
So I wanted to try Android 6.0.1 ROM...but it fails after "cache.img."
SYSTEM REV. CHECK FAIL- DEVICE:1, BINARY:0
So I wanted to try Android 7.0.0 ROM again...but it fails at once.
SYSTEM REV. CHECK FAIL- DEVICE:5, BINARY:4
After rebooting (device:5 binary4) I can flash the 7.0.0 ROM again, until it comes to the "modem.bin FAIL! message again...
What have I done ? :crying:
I googled for hours today and read into so many "ideas" and "solutions"...but none of them helped.
Wish I would have stayed in the Combination ROM.:silly:
Knox is still 0x0
Is there any chance to revive this device ?
Like, flash TWRP...or a custom ROM...but how, if I can only get Download Mode and Recovery and get a:
Custom Binary(RECOVERY) Blocked By FRP Lock
Kies and "Smart Switch" Software wont recognize the device.
adb wont enlist it. (anymore). Worked with combination ROM.
Odin recognizes it on com port, starts flashing, then fails.
also read using ODIN with mixed 6.x.x and 7.x.x files coudl get me "back" the old bootloader...but I gave up now and dont want to waste another day, if its useless.
I did now flash the "4 part firmware" (AP, BL, CP, CSC) G928FXXS5CRH1 (unbranded).
The download I did via the tool "samfirm" use chk32 and decrypt on downloading !
"SM-G928F_1_20180828170540_5avji4munw_fac"
ODIN worked and the phone is back booting to "An blabla attempt..." aka. FRP lock.
Booting into Recovery it now says :
"Installing system" followed by "No command"
then shows :
7.0 (G928FXXS5CRH1)
Successfully verify for dmverity hash tree

}
-adb still does not enlist it as device
-A reboot from "Download Mode" ends up in the Recovery Mode once
On the next reboot its back to "normal"
-Kies says please use SmartSwitch...and SmartSwitch says "USB file transfer not allowed"
So I guess its time for the 7.x.x combination ROM again...jesus...it fails in ODIN and ends up in
"E:failed to mount /cache...recovery"...blaaahhh
on boot....
Flashing "7.0 (G928FXXS5CRH1)" in 4 parts again. So, deadend ?
As I could NOT enter Recovery anymore, I couldnt wipe cache and do a factory reset....
But no, I cant flash the COMBINATION ROM anymore..........................ODIN keeps failing.
Ok, I decied to try to downgrade from 7.0 to 6.0.1, so I can use the FRP bypass again.
But where would I find a debranded 6.01 for SM-G928F in 4 parts (BL, AP, CP, CSC)
I found a ROM, takes ages to download...good night...more tomorrow...
Update :
After much googling, stumbling across tons of trojan tools by indian people, many videos that always wants you to buy a "Box" from amazon...I tried the non adviced downgrading to Android 6.0.1.
It only worked with a 4 part flash file + ODIN (I didnt even use the PIT file, as it was supposed to be) and Im now at :
6.0.1/MMB29K.G928FXXXS3BQA7 (it flashes just fine with and without the PIT file)
No verity error, no Knox triggered.
The next step was to flash the modem of 7.0 (AP), to be able to get connected to the network again.
It worked as well.
The phone still had FRP lock, so I used the "call method" to get into a SMS, send a link, open link, surf to google account manager 6 and frp.apk, done.

Drk problem after flashing stock rom w/frp lock on !

Hello everyone!
So; I have this " sm-j730f " that's had an frp problem. After flashing it with the firmware mentioned in the recovery mode "J730FXWS3ARI7" it gave a "Device does not have DRK, please install DRK first" message on a blue screen. then it opened the recovery mode page with this on the bottom of the screen:
No Support SINGLE-SKU
Supported API: 3
dm-verity error ...
failed code : 0×02
E: failed to find /misc partition
--------------------------------------------
I did some searching, and a "CF-auto root" was suggested, but while trying to flash it, I got this message "Blocked by FRP lock"
Thanks in advance !

Just flash the firmware intended for your region.
Thanks for the reply @ashyx
I can't really tell what region the phone was originally made for.
It has a "UK" address on the back along w/ the sn, the imeis etc.
And the recovery shows a "Mid Iraqi" firmware version which I flashed, as I mentioned in the question.
So, is there a way to know the region? And if it's the UK, I don't seem to find a firmware for it.

Sorry for the late reply; I had urgent matters to tend to.
Indeed, no UK firmware was available, so tried the french one, and even an Iraqi Oreo firmware, but flashing them was too fast ( It only took 2 seconds) which of course didn't affect the phone in the slightest. Even though it wrote "pass" in Odin.
So, I thought I'd try a different version of Odin, but nothing seems to be moving in Odin 3.0.7!

I was messing around with the "no command" page. The combination (power key + vol up) opens up some sort of a log, where it states that the phone has no "recovery file/ directory".
Tried to flash a twrp recovery, but I still get the message "blocked by FRP lock"
Should I look for a stock recovery?

The stock recovery is provided with the stock firmware and should install with the rest of the firmware.
You can download an odin flashable recovery below.
Ensure it matches the firmware.

I know that; but apparently this stupid phone doesn't lol
I'm going crazy over here.
And just to exhaust my options, can you kindly provide me with a recovery.tar file or link? I don't seem to find it anywhere.

Your device is still showing 'custom' status.
I suggest re-installing the stock firmware and factory reset.
It should state 'official'

Tried it twice, and it's still stating a 'custom' status.
Is there a way to downgrade it to Nougat? Cuz it seems this is a common thing with Oreo. (Losing the stock factory I mean).

Looking to root my s10+ or a compatible stock Rom

Hi Xda devers,
i accidentally bought an s10+ not knowing that the model from Japan.
more infos (from cpuz):
Model: SCV42 (scv42_jp_kdi)
Processor: Snapdragon 855
Bootloader: SCV42KDU1DVE4
I used to flash old samsung phones with different broadbands, i tried the F model, it broke and entered reboot loop.
If i may ask:
Can anyone provide me with TWRP or steps to root my phone since it's different model (i'll be glad to donate!)
Any stock Rom compatible with this model at least without the bloats of the career
Thank you in advance and happy rooting!
Hi, i did that on my s10+ recently, it's different from older models.
First thing i was doing it's installing twrp and when finished installing custom rom then i rooted. Here is how to root:
First unlock bootloader (OEM unlock) and enable usb debugging (developer options) (Watch out for FAP locking)
Instal magisck on your device: Magisk Manager apk/ and run it.
You need to download system from here i found your specific model, you need pc for this: Android 12 SCV42KDU1DVE4
Step two is to unzip zip file, then you will found files: AP, BL, CP, CSC OXM and HOME CSC.
For the first step you need to copy AP file to phone, only AP file, then you open magisk app and run instalation, in the first step of instalation you check "recovery mode" on the very next you click on the "method" then "Select and patch a File" in the file explorer find your AP file and chose it then click "Let's go" Wait to finish and remember the location where is stored your new AP. Create new folder on pc and store that new AP.
Second step is to run Odin, connect device to pc and put it in download mode. In Odin extract Files BL, CP and CSC (from downloaded android software) use new AP file from "new AP" folder. Run it and wait to finish then u start phone normally, when finished with settings up phone you need to power of device and then you need to start it with next combination of buttons VOLUME DOWN + BIXBY + POWER KEY and wait for the next 3 images to slide show, Realse buttons when 3rd Samsung logo appear if u don't realise on time it will boot to safe mode.
If you do that correctly go to browser and find magisk manager apk: Magisk manager / download and install it if everything is alright u will get tab with update button (not install) when you give permission to browser to instal unknown apps.
Enter the Magisk manager and your phone is rooted.
