Lately, around 50% of the time my phone will have a vertical green line on the right half of the display (around 60% of the way across the phone). It will also come in spurts (e.g. will have the green line 90% of the time for a few hours, then disappear for a few hours). Turning the screen off/on sometimes fixes it.
Weirdly, it seems oddly coincidental that i had never seen this at all for the first 6 months of owning this phone, but after the most recent update (not the 6.0 update, the small one after), it has begun. Anyone else have the same experience?

You will want to get a warranty replacement on your phone. It's a hardware issue, not a software issue. It will continue to get worse and worse and multiple lines will begin to display over time. It may even get as bad or worse than this: http://i.imgur.com/0MHcos0.jpg (my phone pre-replacement)
All warranty-associated fees should be refunded when your original device is returned to Motorola because you have the green line issue.
Thanks! Wasn't the answer I was hoping for but good to know I'm not alone. Off to the Verizon store...

I`ve had the same problem. It`s a hardware issue. Send the device to Warranty replacement.
how about the green line issue now?
is there any date that maybe new phone produce after some point won't have this issue? (like bootloop in LG G4 - now if the phone produced after 2015 October is safer for example)
i'm thinking to buy a turbo 2 but i'm not in US so it's impossible to return to Moto for replacement.

Don't buy the Turbo 2 phone, there are 2 known issues and no information about what you ask. One problem is the green line commented on this post, the second one is the phone won't turbo charge and even no charge at all, even it seems it will charge normally. Both issues are hardware related and required return to carrier/motorola for warranty replacement.

Okay here's my fun little scenario that I searched for and hadn't come across anyone with the same scenario. Phone was working fine one day and next it would only display a white screen, thought something went wrong with the software. Tried a reset, tried a hard reset, tried a flash started getting some screen showing and then distorting and whiteing out also on startup would get crackled sound. Tried a few more resets and so on. Removed the battery for 3 seconds-20mins-8plus hours still having a problem. Distortion gets worse when pushing the battery in the back it seems and will eventually just go to white screen. Now I had bought a new battery recently and just for kicks threw it in, seemed to eliminate my problems. Except now as I just for kicks again am charging my old battery in the cradle along with the phone and the new battery it seems to be having similar issue although it hasn't been nearly as bad as before. Now I just took the "bad" battery off the charger and it seems to be just fine in the cradle at this moment, nevermind it's flickering again. Is more poor little Hermes on it's death bed, please tell me no. I paid $200 on it being used from a company who only warranties it for 14 days, I am almost at 30 now. I bought an warranty with it being used and all however they wont help me untill I reach 60 days I guess so I may be out of luck for 30 days before I might get it fixed or my money back. Sucks too because I switched to the $40 data plan with AT&T about 5 days ago and now I guess will be paying for something I can't really use. Okay it seems as though with random pressure on the back seems to cause it. I'm leaning towards some sort of a battery contact issue perhaps? What should I do to clean/fix the contacts?
For those that wonder why I just seemed to rant about my broken phone and seemingly figured out the problem on my own and are wondering why I am still posting all of it the answer is simple: To benefit someone else who may be experienceing the same problem or who may read it and have the problem down the road they will know what they should do. That and it's late and I'm tired
the screen issue is known to be caused by the D-pad connector coming undone
Okay I had run into that as a possibility however would that affect the sound to make it crackle? Also in experimenting some more this morning with the "old" battery in place it seems to be much much more sensitive to pressure, almost to the point of holding it in the palm of your hand causes the screen to go nutty and wash out to white screen and come back etc.. However with the new battery in its much more stable and I need to apply more pressure in order for it to reproduce these symptoms. I know you've been a member for longer than me and you also work for AT&T however my gut feeling is something else may be the culprit here. I tried recording a video using my backup phone last night except I couldn't seem to get it uploaded to show what the screen is doing. Oh well I really want use of the phone but I also don't want to void the warranty, namely my extra warranty which I can't file a claim for the next month.
Hey guys,
I've had an LG G2 (D801) for about a month and a half now.
Well, I woke up this morning and it was not charged, so I charged it, but I noticed when I started the phone the LG Logo caused vertical white lines (semi transparent) up and down the entire phone where the logo was.
This is happening for any lighter colors on screen now, the clock, pulling up my pictures while browsing, whatever creates a light color it will bleed in a straight vertical line.
I took a screen shot, of course it looks fine, so I don't think it's software related...idk..
What the heck caused this change overnight? Is it common in smart phones, it's the first time I've owned one. Thinking about hitting up Asurion to get it replaced.
Actually the device is under warranty, I can get it replaced for like 20 bucks or so after I restore factory to it.
Just trying to avoid that BS if possible, it's surprisingly hard to find information on these symptoms. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Hi all dear members. Since the first day i bought this phone i've been seeing lots of screen issues about it but i never thought i would have one. It's proved me wrong.
So here's my problem, my device has developed halo all around it when the bg color gets grey. Most of the time , it's not obvious. I can live with that. Recently, my screen starts to show me some tv-like stripes every now and then, it doesn't last long. after one second or two, it disappera and then it'll show from time to time.
I'm afraid it's just the start. It's similar to most of the issue ppl claim as screen flikering or screen jittering or shaking screen, it's a bit different though.
Has anyone encountered the same issue. More importantly, has anyone found any solutions yet? I searched google and failed to find answers. And i looked into it on Baidu,a chinese search engine, where i found some answers that claims it's not the screen issue ,instead , it's just the ribbon cable is lose. And anyone who replace a new screen for that is stupid.I'm just not sure about this.
My phone was bought on the internet and shipped to China, thus, I don't have warranty to rely on. And my phone is only 10 months old. I never dropped it and i have kept it well.(LG logo on the rear back still falls off), I just don't get why LG made this so vulnerable.
Even though i have ordered the nexus 6, my g2 running CM12 is still crazily fast and I don't want to give up on it. I'm so happy about my d802 except for all issues about the screen.
Any help would be aprreciated. Thanks again. Hi all dear members. Since the first day i bought this phone i've been seeing lots of screen issues about it but i never thought i would have one. It's proved me wrong.

Hi, I also have a problem with the screen on my lg g2, appeared to me that the white line disappears and comes back, when I do print screen and transfer the image on the computer that line is not visible, and that line is not always the same intenziteta.Try to do print screen and set an image or we send the mail to compare the problem
i'm so pissed about the screen, yes, my gnex bought 3 years ago looks yellow and ****ty. but other than that, totally fine, but for g2, ive read so many complaints about it. Guess no one has figured it out. Maybe I will open my phone and try to figure out when the screen completely goes crazy. During I type, it has happed for 4 times . so very annoying.

I think you should try to put in some rom, I hope it's a software problem, I found the solution for my phone cloudy g3:good:
i flash different cm12 nightlies. i don't think its a software related issue. I'm not the only one with this issue. Yesterday I opened this phone ,well with my fingernails. And coz I didn't have the right screwdriver, I wasn't able to open that black cover at the button down bellow the battery, but I cleared the places around the USB port and there's a black tape glued near the camera , I pressed it and I put the phone together and guess what, the problem was gone for one day, and I will continue to keep an eye on it.

I have this beautiful and powerful phone LeEco Pro 3 that i`ve been using for half an year or so with AOSIP ROM. Its a wonderful phone with an amazing performance.
The thing is my display started a problem history that has become a long history i will try to resume in a few words.
It started in one day i pressed the power button in order to light the display on and check something in an APP i needed. I found out that before the display lighted on some weird colors and artifacts appeared on screen. But indeed the display worked fine.I thought it was just a temporary thing and just kept using it until In the second day that the weird colors and artifacts became permanent, so i realized i was in trouble. :crying:
Tried sending the phone to technical assistance.
The first one - Told me that they could get a new display for testing but indeed the results were the same and they were seeing oxidation in the display connector on the board, not the display flex cable but the main board connection. They said they would not go further into it and they decided to give the phone back to me. Weird thing is that when i turned the phone one it worked for one day without issues. He said the phone was in the same condition, but that is not what i saw. The problem indeed happened again one day later , but it was less worse as i could at least see the screen, but almost half the screen was horribly shaking, trembling.
The second one - Once the tech guy looked the phone he said he didnt see any sign of the phone getting opened. He said he would be seeing signs of glues or anything like that but in his opinion it was definitely not opened. But he warned me the display could physically brake once he opens it as the phone got contact with oxidation in the toilet(I used to left it in the toiled while i take bath). So i was afraid and decided to back off.
The third one - Said he could not find any display so he sent the phone back to me. Didnt open it at all as he was trying to wait for the new display to arrive in order to be safe. They said they are 90% sure its display replacement would do the job. The thing is - if i used in hot environments the issues seems to slowly disappear . If i use it in cold environments the problems seems to get worse
So here i am. I CAN buy another screen over the internet. But i am afraid if it will work or not. Have anyone there faced same issue? What do you recommend me to do? What would you do
Thanks in advance

There are many many post on this subject, recently in fact. That has links. In fact, you can find them on Alibaba that are all black and made specifically for the Le Pro 3. Here is a link of a guy who used the cool s1 display
Yes it sounds like the display or the flex cables.
Link 1
Here you go cheap and they have the black one

So i can go on and buy another display . Would you do it without worrying?
In the country i live in the display costs 189. The phone costs 900 or 1000.
Hi, the problem started a few weeks ago, when i low down the brightness the screen starts to flicker and it turns to a green/yellowish color, a few days after i woke up and turned my phone but it was black (i leave the phone charging every night before go to bed) when i turn it on by power or home button i just see a few horizontal lines in the upper part of the screen, but it wont turn on, so i got to remove the battery wait a while, then put it back and turn it on again, the screen still black for a while (i cannot see anymore the S5 logo) leave it for a moment, then after few pushes (well a lot actually) to the power button it turns on again and works just fine for the whole day, I've change the android last year to 6.0.1 with odin (I'm not from usa), and changed the battery a couple of months ago, what could it be the problem? battery? dying screen?

I had a similar problem with my S5 a while ago.
The screen used to have these so-called snowstorms and kept glitching and freezing. When I turned the screen off and on again it would stay black, then the phone would reboot and I would have that snowstorm again.
I then replaced the screen and after doing so the phone worked flawlessly (hurrah!) for about 3 months (damn). Then it started acting up again (sh**).
I was really disappointed. What a waste of money. What a waste of time.
Then I thought about the motherboard - that had to be the cause I thought.
So then I replaced that. This was about 2 weeks ago.
Ever since my S5 has been chugging along nicely.
So yeah, in the end it could be the following things causing the problem:
-loose screen ribbon connector
-faulty screen
-faulty motherboard
The S5's screen (flickering) is a commonly found problem.
If you want to spend your hard-earned money on a five-year-old phone like I did then here's more details:
The screen is fairly easy to replace. If you want to replace the motherboard you have to disassemble the entire phone. It shouldn't be difficult after you've removed the screen without breaking it.
I managed not to do so. Here's a video of the tear down process which should help you (quite a lot): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fZ_rMo-AdKE&t=191s
If I were you I'd try replacing the motherboard first as it's cheaper. Don't make the mistake of doing it the other way round like I did.
Just search for the model number you want. SM-G900F (Europe and America) has the best support here on XDA and is the most common model.
I wouldn't order a G900A because as far as I know the bootloader is locked down because US carriers don't like us. And I don't think there's an exploit either.
If you want to buy a new screen then make sure you get a genuine one, follow the link or search "S5 digitizer" on eBay: https://bit.ly/2Hww3Dp
The seller I bought the screen from (from China, shipped from Netherlands) isn't selling it anymore so I cannot guarantee any genuineness or functionality. Seller looks reputable though and the pics and description look good and it ships to Europe.
Again, the screen is very expensive, even for an old phone like this! I would try replacing the motherboard first.
Any cheap screens (under 50) you find will most likely be of bad quality. You should not buy them.

Thanks for your reply, i think it will be better to get a new phone then, where i live (f**** argentina) the screen cost more than what i paid for the phone (used but just a few months after release) more than 100 dollars, thanks again.
