In total, my family of four has four 6Ps.
Yesterday browsing through best buy, I got the golden Nexus 6P in my hands to play with, and gosh, it felt twice as fast and snappier. I proceed to put my phone down and test it app by app at the same time, like the speed test videos on youtube, and I am jealous... it was SOOOOO much faster. I wish I had another phone to record it. Drawer opening was 3 times as fast. Opening the store, google search, brownser, it was close to twice as fast.
Then I proceeded to test the other 6Ps at home... and they were just like mine.
Very intrigued, I thought... well... my phone is full... so let me hard reset it...
Still, not even close to what I experienced at the store. Could it be that these phones at best buy are overcloked or not underclocked? It was a BIG difference!
All my phones were purchased from google... have anyone experienced this?
Thanks!

I'm actually a lead manager for Best Buy Mobile and I can tell you that the 6Ps we have out on display are the exact same 6Ps that you would get from the Google Store. However, they do have an application loaded on them that keeps the device awake. This application also keeps the CPU running at close to max speed which is why it feels so much faster than a 6P running stock.

While it does make the phone run a lot faster it is essentially the same as going into a kernel management app and setting your minimum CPU frequency a lot higher than normal. If these phones weren't plugged in they would most definitely be dead within an hour. [emoji1]

For flashing demo content and apks for demo, make a batch script then just take a laptop round and adb install onto it. Saves time.
Sony used to have one built in, can't for the life of me remember what it is, on the dialer, its a number then the same number backwards.
I think the Sammy ones are 5433, its been a while though, could have changed.

I think I know what you might be feeling as far as that dramatic speed difference. One can change the animation speed in developer settings to make the phone feel waayyyyy faster. Have you tinkered with that yet?

ROFL... Ahhh best post I read on a while. Good laugh, thanks!
I hate going to look at phones, and EVERY single one has serious screen burn in! Makes the device look like crap, and gives it a cheap feeling. Shouldn't have them with their screens always on. It might look flashy from a sales perspective, but to a customer it's actually a turnoff.

I can still choose whether I get the Nexus S or the Atrix; a friend in the US buys it tomorrow for me. I was done & dusted on getting the Nexus S (coming from an un-rooted Nexus One) until I took a final look on those specs of the Atrix again. That phone just looks too good on paper to not be good!
Guys, more updates please! Help a guy make up his mind..

Apps opening? - Fastest phone I've own yet...
Lag? - yes. Going from an app like Angry birds to home screen, there's an initial lag. It's annoying. Must be Blurrrrr.
Camera? - Disappointed...iPhone 4 is definitely better.
Let's just say I'm ready to install a custom Rom without all the bloatware and lameBlur. Blur kills the phones IMO.
Not many phones can beat the iphone 4 camera appart from Nokia, but is the camera on the Atrix better than the HTC Desire or nexus s.
Cheers.

Go back to the Nexus S boards then rather than trolling here. You clearly don't have the phone, any anything you state is a matter of opinion, and clearly jealousy since you're on our boards and not yours.
My atrix is fast. I had someinitial lag in the app drawer while using Launcher Pro but it is gone now.

Came from Nexus One. Good upgrade.
Confirmed that with proper account provisioning, unlimited 4G data for $30, and the "phone" apn, upload is either capped by AT&T or HSUPA is disabled on the hardware by AT&T. Tethering plan may increase upload speed but I got no confirmation in this yet.
Otherwise it's an excellent upgrade from the N1.

The phone works great, haven't had any lag at all so far. Only been playing on it for 4 hours though! Launcher Pro works great, I have the 3D settings on and the animations don't lag whatsoever. No complaints with the screen. Only thing that sucks is my Worms game isn't working Something about being an unsupported device.

Should note that if you look at the reviews out there, the N1 battery life is crap (compared to the Atrix). Also the Atrix (like most newer Android phones) has a proper multitouch screeen. So you'll notice way better typing input immediately.
I will admit.... it's nice that nucentury is at least starting to use SOME punctuation. Not enough, but it's still an improvement from the first post i've seen from him in his other thread.
Besides.... who would even take the advice of someone who thinks that a gyroscope makes a phone that much better than any other device when it comes to gaming? A gyroscope has the same exact flaw as Microsoft Kinect. It's only logical to be used for a certain genre of games. Anything outside those genres, and it's just a useless addition to the phone.
Everything for me is great thus far. Phone is very snappy using LauncherPro also using Beautiful widgets.
Typing is spot on. Nice screen resolution. I would say the phone is overall faster than the Captivate and Inspire.

Thanks for the reply! LauncherPro has become essential, it's good to know it enhances the Android experience here too.
Like the title says, I changed over to swiftkey keyboard lastnight and after rebooting to get the old keyboard to stop running my phone is now EXTREEEEEEEMLY responsive and the animations are now REAAAAALY smooth!!
It's been 24 hours now and it's still blowing my mind.
Just thought i would share this here incase anyone else wants to give it a go.
EDIT: just to increase the success rate, I decided to post a few simple steps.
1. Download new keyboard of choice.
2. Go into G3 options and set the new keyboard to default.
3. Reboot (important).
4. Hopfully by now you're enjoying some butter smoothness.
I looked through the thread and out of everyone that reported if this helped or not, is about 50% say this helps and 50% say no difference.
The worst that can happen from trying this is wasting 30 seconds from your life.
Here's a quick video i made showing the difference in stutter & response time of my notification bar, it helps in all areas of the phone, not just the notification bar but i just wanted to show an example.
You can easily see the increased response times in my video. But It's really hard to see the stutter difference in the video since it was only recorded with a 30 fps camera, though in real life it's improved a ton too.
For my testing conditions, I have 100% same apps & i shutdown and coldbooted and let the phone sit exactly 10 mins to let the os settle before testing for each test.

Hmm, unlike many of the so called tweaks out there this does seem to help. LG stock items do seem rather memory and CPU hungry.

It's funny you said that, because i thought exactly the same thing haha.
I've done near everything in the book to make my phone faster & more efficent including debloat of more than 130 apps and only having 3 running processes in the end seemed to have little to no effect, and then this happened.
My goal was to save battery life, but enstead i realized i had just REMOVED my stutter which is even better  if i coulda hoped for ANYTHING for this phone this was it!!

Well I don't know if it is just placebo or what but to me apps like gallery are opening smoother and it does seem to be a fair bit better so thanks op.

First thing I did was download Google keyboard. I personally hate the LG keyboard. For a phone so big, the keys on the keyboard are surprisingly small. I get that you get more keys, but I can't get used to it and the predictive text is almost comical.
it is indeed a bit faster. I have ART enabled, so everything was already running pretty smooth.
Next test: disable ART and install xposed with some app settings, G3 tweaksbox and 'nomoreoverlay'....
Now how does it compare to a Nexus 5 in smoothness?

I don't think that's a fair comparison. Let's wait for the unlocked bootloader. And a good AOSP rom. Then we can compare those devices...
It mainly the LG apps that are making this phone slow. The LG gallery is killing me, its so slow. I can't even replace it became the camera needs it.
I don't exactly understand what is "unlocking the bootloader", I thought rooting the device made everything possible on the device, but it's probably not the place to ask for the difference between the two.
However I may ask why is it taking so long? The phone has been out for months now.
Did it take so much time for the LG G2?
As I remember I have been adding new ROMs to my Nexus 5 a few months after purchasing it and i bought it on very early January which was two months after it was out.

Allows you to flash ROMS. Bootloader unlock policy depends on the manufacturer. LG is infamous for not facilitating this.

Try the J firmware.
If you can you should return it, if you can't, root and reduce the DPI 560 seems sweet. Also use a different launcher and keyboard. That will remove most of the lag, but not all.
The phone is not rubbish, LGs software and "configuration" on the other hand is a bit over aggressive:
- thermal throttling kicks in too early in my opinion (play a game for a few minutes and frames start dropping like crazy due to the processor being capped). the phone isn't that hot either - considering my N5 reaches temperatures where it feels a lot warmer than this and seems to not cap the speed that aggressively;
- there is a lot of useless software from LG running (updates, smart stay, quiet hours, bla bla bla) which eats up memory, processor usage, etc.
- be careful if you have an sd card in it (I had an old card in it and everything was twice as sluggish);
- avoid power management / battery monitoring tools (using GSAM battery monitor in my experience seemed to keep the phone awake more then it should resulting in earlier thermal throttling).
Ways to improve performance:
- keep the software that you need active (give up unnecessary widgets, services, syncs). keep only to the ones you need;
- try the phone without a sd card;
- try to keep it as cool as possible so it runs cool and doesn't throttle performance;
- (advanced) root ... and get rid of useless junk ...
- (advanced / risky) disable throttling and other safety features ...
I've changed keyboard
I'm loving it. Phone of the year. The m8's got a crappy camera and too much bezel, the s5... Well, it's the s5. Sony, yeah Sony, great contestant. Doesn't have the style, the flare tho. No nanny Fine finesse.
Different strokes for different folks, eh.

- crappy laggy LG software. No match to Google's Android.
- bleak washed out colors of LG IPS screen
- over sharpening

One of the worst thing about this phone is the lag in Google Chrome or the Stock Browser! I can't believe that with the specs it has we still experience lag while browsing mobile sites!
Don't believe me? Do this, go to this link http://forums.androidcentral.com/sa...owser-chrome-facebook-twitter-play-store.html and scroll down in the thread.
There's nothing but lag which is so disappointing. The fix? Turn JavaScipt off in Chrome or the Stock browser but then you're just left with a broken browser.
Coming from iOS I can't believe how stupid slow and laggy the browsing experience has been for me on this beautiful S6. Wow.

The fix? Turn Java off in Chrome or the Stock browser but then you're just left with a broken browser.
Coming from iOS I can't believe how stupid slow and laggy the browsing experience has been for me on this beautiful S6. Wow.

Faster than previous Galaxy phones yes but use an iPhone 6 or 6+ to view the link above and tell me you don't see a dramatic difference.

This is the only thing that I really respect iPhone 6. Browser speed. Other than this? Nah..

I've gone to pages on both phones and the main thing I noticed is the scroll speed for the iPhone is a lot slower than my HTC or s6. It may be the reason it doesn't stutter as much. I've done lots of testing with the phones side by and you are making it seem like the iPhone is free of any lag which is simply not true.
Scrolls dine for me with chrome

Apple tricks users. And you feel for it. It "appears" smoother and faster because you can only scroll so much at a time. It breaks pages down in to grids. Its the same trick as how the force long animations to allow home screens to render. Its a lot of smoke and mirrors. And frankly..it works.

I can scroll just as fast if I wanted to, trick or not it's smoother and everything is displayed as expected with no lag whatsoever.

No lag on my N5, however I'd only get the pleasure of visiting the site for an hour before the battery goes dead, so I'd still rather have the s6,

Then you would be the only person on earth that could lol.
Open the page on both devices. From bottom to top flick upwards really fast. See were they both land on the page then you will understand what I mean.

Listen, I had both devices and did my fair share of testing. I've used Android devices for years as well so I know exactly what you're referring to. Back when in JB'd my iPhone I used a tweak allowing me to scroll just as fast as Android and never had any of these issues so please don't try to sit here telling me it's all a "trick" and things aren't being displayed real time.

K lol. Then take it back and stick with your iPhone. Clearly you're the only one this is bothering. Or one of few. So maybe Androids just not for you anymore.

I did take it back, if you refuse to see an issue then you're just a fanboy in this whole iOS vs Android nonsense. I'm basically stating the obvious issues with Android at the moment and I don't see how anyone could see this lag as acceptable.
Sent from my iPhone 6 Plus using Tapatalk
I just tested it again. The iPhone clearly does not scroll as fast. If I had a third phone to record it I would. If you already got rid of your phone then why are you on this forum trolling.
So, it's not present, but you had to jailbreak your iPhone and use a tweak to get rid of it? lol I've sat down with both devices to show my friends 100 times. My Androids were faster on 90% of the sites. I've done this for years b/c my friends like to bust my balls about Android vs Apple.
Troll troll troll. gtfo kid. lol

Yet your the only one complaining and you had to jailbreak your iPhone to do what android does out of the box...lol pointless thread. I now see your trollcolors (see what I did there??)
So obviously it's about time for me to get a new phone, considering mine is never going to make it past 5.0 lollipop and various other reasons. I just want to know what to expect if I do end up getting the Moto X Pure. Will I be happy/satisfied with my purchase? Will there be a huge learning curve?

I would say go for it if you don't care about the Spen. The Note 3 is a great phone but I enjoy the Pure alot more. There is no bloat to speak of and you can unlock the bootloader and flash whatever you want. Camera wise the Pure is better. I especially like the Moto display where you can wave your hand in front of the lock screen to see your notifications and unlock it instead of pressing buttons. I would suggest to get at least a 32GB or more model. I currently have the 16GB one and find it too small so I have a 64GB on it's way. It makes things easier when flashing ROMs because you don't need to format the external SD to adaptive storage.

I can't totally answer that yet because I just got this one a few days ago and have been flashing things quite a bit. So far I'm happy with it.

Im not sure why those reviews say that.
I constantly get 4 - 5hrs screen on time, occasionally it'll get 6hrs screen on time, that was on stock non rooted.
I've also recently rooted and flashed xposed with gravity box and still continue to get very acceptable battery life.
i have the US version of the Pure. Not sure if my phone just got a good battery.

I came from note 3 as well. On it since it came out. I've seen quite a spread on what people get. I'll low ball and say definitely 3 1/2, 4 1/2 with some management. Better build than 3 (expected). You'll have to get used to the color changes. Samsung saturates, so remember that. Someone posted getting 32 at least. I definitely agree with that statement. Don't bother with 16, even with the availability of SD card. Great radio. Unlocked for carriers. Price can't be beat. Only other option would be Nexus 6P.

I was running stock until a couple hours ago and decided to try AICP. So far it's running great.
Def agree with everyone to get 32gb or above. What took me by surprise is this phone has no LED notification.....unless your rooted and running a rom which supports it (most do). Also when you root you will be able to control doze much more efficiently and get much better standby battery. This has the brightest screen I have ever seen (have it on 5%-10% while indoors), great audio jack/speaker sound/reception/camera and battery charges ridiculously quick. It's safe to say you will love this phone.
plz dont buy, battery life is pathetic and if you use xposed it would be worse, i mean really really worse, it feels like 2000mah sometimes :/ , i need to sell it now, and using old nexus 6 again

@spookykidmm, don't listen to this clown. Xposed doesn't affect battery life. If you're running some janky modules, you could run in to issues, but that's not Xposed. Additionally, normal battery life is not pathetic. Battery life on the Galaxy S6 is pathetic. I usually average between 5-6 hrs SOT depending on usage (with or without Xposed). Typically the people on here that complain are in the minority... that's true for nearly every phone. And a lot of times, they screw things up on their own and blame the phone

Since battery depends on many variables like screen brightness, signal strength, apps installed, sync frequency, etc....your setup could be giving you horrible battery life, but explain to me how xposed makes battery that much worse....you must have many modules incorrectly configured.
My girlfriend upgraded from her Note 3 to the Moto X Pure when I upgraded at the same time from my LG G4 to this and we're both EXTREMELY satisfied. Dev support is on the rise so you'll have a few choices in ROMs. I'm currently rockin' TruPureXMM v2.5 with Franken Kernel using his Battery Profile settings, xPosed with GravityBox, Amplify & XGPM and can honestly say I couldn't be much happier with the experience overall.
We have the 64 GB models and neither of us use an sdCard since it's been more than enough for us. Google Photos keeps our photos stored and Google Play Music is our choice of service (Family Plan for $14.99 a month) which lets us stream our over 23,000 song collection and gives us access to any song on Google Play with no ads and since we have T-Mobile the music streaming isn't going against our high speed data, which is very nice. As other are saying, you will enjoy the dual-front speakers, the screen is great, and battery life is within reasonable acceptance. You can squeeze more out of it fairly easily with some tweaking and the quick-charge is INSANE. You can't beat the charger that comes with this phone.
