Note 4 Bootanimation - Verizon Galaxy Note 4 General

I found this thread,

More bootanimation..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2677522
for those who wanted to change the boot animations i tried and works...i follow this instructions.
You can still use these animations without flashing them through recovery.
- extract the zipfile with winzip or 7zip(recommended) or winrar.
- find the qmg file. In case of the crt shutdown it is shutdown.qmg.
- place it on your sdcard.
- use root explorer or es file explorer(enable root in options) and rename the original one for example: from "shutdown.qmg" to "shutdown_old.qmg".
- copy and paste the one you placed on the sdcard in the /system/media folder.
- go to properties and set the permissions to : RW-R-R
-restart.

Thank you , worked like a charm. no more bright red verizon logo. woo hoo...

[Q] How to change bootanimation with stock kernel?

So, I'm modifying a stock ROM of Galaxy Y and want to change the bootanimation but don't know how to do it because of QMG file in system/media. How can I change it?
This method will work? I mean do it in my computer.
4 - Okay, now having bootanimation.zip, copy to SD;
5 - Open Root Explorer and navigate to the directory "system / bin
6 - Look for the "samsungani" or "samsungloop", press and hold over the file, and select "MOVE";
7 - Browse to the folder "sdcard" and tap "PASTE"
8 - Back to the folder "system / bin" and browse to the "bootanimation"; - Navigate to the folder "sdcard" and tap "PASTE"
9 - Rename the file "bootanimation" to "samsungani" or "samsungloop" (depending on the file that you moved to SD in step 6)
10 - Now navigate to the "sdcard" and copy the bootanimation.zip;
11 - Navigate to the folder "system / media" and paste the bootanimation.zip here.
12 - rename the 2 files with extension. "MGQ" (removing the "g" at the end);

But I don't want people to flash some zip file after flash my ROM, I want the bootanimation come with the ROM.
Is it possible?
Select the one you want.
Check if it is compatible.
Rename it to boot animation.zip and place it sys/media/here.

I thinks you can to try with bootanimation manager release.apk . you can find it on google.

(Request) stock systemui and odex from mf3

Install a transparent notification bar, forgot to keep a copy of the original sysmui. Now i have no status bar and a black baground. If anyone can copy it from their phone, i really appreciated. Im on a active with mf3. Thanks

Could you go into a little detail on what happened and what you have done to try to fix it? I don't understand what your saying.
I think he wants the systemUI.apk for the active because he fubar'd his.

Any ideas where to get that? I don't even think that will install without flashing, but can't flash on MF3 yet.

You can copy the file from root explorer without flashing. I was able to get a copy of the systemui and place it into the sys/app folder. Now everything is back to normal.

So you just copied the apk off his phone I'm assuming? I'm also assuming it's the same apk as the regular S4? (I'm just trying to get better knowledge so I can help somebody in the future.)

As the other person replied - with root access, you can download ES File Explorer, or Root Browser, give the app root access via SuperSU, navigate to the System > apps folder, find the file(s) you want, copy/move them where you need.

Yeah I'm well aware you can do that but I didn't know that apk would actually function like an apk if you did that. Just thought it was more to it than that.

As long as you have the appropriate odex file along with it and you know how to do it - it should be fine. You have to know how an APK file works, Applications are basically glorified ZIP archives. The java code is stored in a file called classes.dex and this file is parsed by the Dalvik JVM and a cache of the processed classes.dex file is stored in the phone's Dalvik cache.
An odex is basically a pre-processed version of an application's classes.dex that is execution-ready for Dalvik. When an application is odexed, the classes.dex is removed from the APK archive and it does not write anything to the Dalvik cache. An application that is not odexed ends up with 2 copies of the classes.dex file--the packaged one in the APK, and the processed one in the Dalvik cache. It also takes a little longer to launch the first time since Dalvik has to extract and process the classes.dex file.
If you are building a custom ROM, it's a really good idea to odex both your framework JAR files and the stock apps in order to maximize the internal storage space for user-installed apps. If you want to theme, then simply deodex -> apply your theme -> reodex -> release.

[GUIDE] How To Install Apps In Second Rom

Hai, if you using dualboot mode, I just found the new way to install app in second rom without entering it, it's easy
- Open root explorer/ file explorer
- Choose the app you want[if you have the APK files], or take it from the folder data/app in your primary rom
- Copy the APK files to folder .secondrom/data/app [paste here]
- Don't rewrite the permission, it's automatic changed
- Now reboot, n enter your second rom
Note: I only try this in the primary rom, so if you wanted to try it in second rom, tell me it's works or not
Don't forget to hit THANKS button

[Q] How to change boot animation?

hi,
saw a cool boot animation in reddit.. http://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/1pb6dv/jarvis_boot_animation_480x800/
i downloaded this file, extracted the archive, changed the desc.txt file to suit nexus 4's resolution put it in a archive named 'bootanimation.zip' and placed it in /system/media/. but when i rebooted the phone only the black screen was there to greet me
i even tried the default resolution in desc.txt but still the boot screen is completely black..
i'm on stock rom, rooted with franco kernel.. what am i missing here.. help me to set up the boot animation please..
When you zip it back up, you need to use the "store" compression method.

Do you have an empty extra line in your desc? This is necessary.
Upload it here so that I can take a look at it and hopefully find the issue.

yep.. just checked the file and it has the empty line in the end..
i'm sorry i couldn't attach the zip file since it is over 12mb.. i have attached the desc.txt file and will give the link for boot animation..
https://eos.feralhosting.com/fuller/bootanimation.zip
thanks for your help..
FWIW i tried previewing this animation in the Boot Animation app.. it threw an error.. so there might be a possibility that this zip has some issue..
I just checked out the zip and everything seems to be fine. I also tried it out (put it in system/media) and it worked perfectly.
Are you sure the one that you linked above isn't working for you? Try using it without any modifications just to be sure.

now i feel stupid.. reddit op had given a mediafire link too.. i downloaded from that link.. the issue with that link was that all the part folders and desc.txt were present under a folder and that folder was zipped as bootanimation.zip.. in the new link which i gave in my previous post the part folders and desc.txt were directly zipped...
now the animation works perfect and i have even modded the desc to suit nexus 4's resolution..
thanks a lot Chromium_

now is there any guide to add a sound file to this boot animation.. let me know if you know any guide.. thanks..

BETTER SOUNDS (Replace your touch) SPEN TOO

Tired of your "Water Drop" Touch Wiz sound.
Follow these instructions to replace them with what I use.
Let me know what you want and I will try and find it. Will add more.....
1. Touch sound. (Simple and nice)
2. Back sound (Sick and Nice)
3. Lock sound (Sweetness)
4. Just added Unlock sound (Sword) https://www.dropbox.com/s/13ry8kt3di0ebgr/UnlockSword1.zip
To install please follow these instructions below. I do this with every ROM I flash.
1.Download the zip and extract to your SD card.
(Create a folder called UI Sounds or whatever you like, and put the three files in there)
2.Use Root Browser or ROM TOOLBOX PRO.
3.While in Root Browser go to your SD card (UI Folder) and select your first file "TW_Touch" copy it
4.Now jump to the root of your phone. System/Media/Audio/UI then paste your file there. Hit yes to Overwrite.
5.Go ahead and back out of that screen but go right back and change permissions to match (rw--r--r)
(It wont let me change permissions unless I hit back then go back there)
6.Do the same for the next two files
7.Reboot
8.Thats it, let me know what y'all think. I love these sounds way better.
CHANGE YOUR SPEN SOUNDS TOO

Root: Lightsaber Sounds On S Pen Attach/Detach On The Galaxy Note III
Warning: This is a root procedure that involves modifying system files and could potentially harm your phone. Do this at your own risk, and XDA and myself are not responsible for any damages caused or any limbs removed with the S Pen turned lightsaber.
Download the two files > https://app.box.com/shared/e5bg08plfbt14xtzcaru
https://app.box.com/shared/gyxcbhlc81n8dyfpiksk
Rename them if you need to (the Note III has 3 different sound options,
rename the file with a number 1-3 depending on which sound you want to replace, default is 1)
Use a root enabled file manager (Root Explorer, ES, Solid, etc.) to navigate to /system/media/audio/ui
Find the files you want to replace (Pen_att_noti1.ogg and Pen_det_noti1.ogg but with your chosen number)
and rename them by adding a .bak to the end (make sure to use a keyboard with no auto correct, or it’ll change the file name)
Copy and paste the downloaded files into /system/media/audio/ui
Change their permissions (long hold > Properties in most file managers) to rw- r– r– or 644

No problem Drunkmunky. How are you liking the sounds? I'm in the process of making some more.
Maybe some really short electric sounds or something cool like that.
I like the sounds. Like you I was getting tired of the default sounds.
Do you know how to change the S-PEN sound when you remove it and reinstall?
Thanks !

Have you ever wanted to be a Jedi master at work, but your boss didn’t appreciate you bringing in your replica lightsaber? We have an excellent solution for Galaxy Note II owners. This small mod will change the sound your device makes when taking out and putting in the S Pen to those of a lightsaber. Trust us, you’ll definitely feel cooler taking out your S Pen this way.
