Hi,
I've updated my G900F S5 to 6.0.1. So far few issues:
- my SD card is not adopted (as internal storage). I've moved some of my apps to SD and my question is, is there a way to see all apps moved to SD as it was possible on Lollipop? Also I would like to see all apps available to move to SD without the need to enter each one under Applications option.
- I'm unable to format SD card as Internal storage
- issue is with SmartLock. I've enabled it for my Gear S. Before update it worked like a charm but now sometimes it requires me to unlock it with my fingerprint. Bluetooth is active and my watch is connected all the time (I stayed in range).
- slow lock when I press power button. It takes around few seconds to hear click from lock. Can lock animation be changed?
- all "heavy" operations on SD card (MKV file copy, move) are causing my phone to soft reboot. Samsung logo is shown on black background and SD card notification is shown. I tried reformating SD. Reboot is also caused while updating bigger applications which are moved to SD.
After all I think I should change topic title .
Thank you.

This started happening after I've installed a new bigger SD card. I've copied all contents from the old SD card to the new one.
But now I have problems with USB connection as mass storage. It usually resets and after restart, there are many applications missing (blank shortcuts and apps are not in the launcher).
What is going on??
Using your phone as Mass Storage would require the SD Card to be unmounted,if by any chance you reboot in the process, your phone might not automatically mount the SD Card, and therefore you will not be able to access the apps on the card.
You may try to mount the SD card manually, still, that won't fix the icon problem instantly, you might wait or refresh a bit.
But I haven't saved any of those apps on the SD card (if it isn't done automatically somehow).
Not sure if I'm doing something wrong, but I cannot figure out how to make the external SD card the default storage. Be it for downloads or data from apps, it's all saved on the internal one and I can't see a way to change it. Most answers I found on google are suggesting to change it in the settings (storage --> make SD card primary storage, which is not available) or in the aosp browser (not available either).
Any suggestions? Thanks!
Three screen shots to see below.
1. I don't think there is a "global" setting to make everything go to the SD card - some things just won't work from there.
2. You can move all your videos, pictures to the SD card - see screen shot.
3. The camera app has a setting for SD card as default - just search my posts as I already have posted screen shot of this.
4. Some individual apps can be moved to SD card, there is two places under settings /apps to see. a) individual app page whether it can be moved and b) the tab were it shows all the apps that are on the SD card. I haven't tried it but I think from this tab you can also select multiple apps to move to SD card at the same time. I would guess that ones that cannot be moved would be grayed out. Also keep in mind that sometimes apps that can be moved to SD card don't work properly afterwards. Most widgets fall into this category.
I hope this helps you.
there are a billion apps that will move the programs to your sd card link2sd is one example. Or you can wait till we get Android M
One cuestion about sd-card: google play music, cm music, apollo, don't read my mp3 files placed in sd-card, vlc player it reads, have: unlocked bootloader, squid kernel, stock rom, root, xposed, gravity box, no device check. Any idea?
To Makr external sd as defult u need to root your phone then install xposed frame work after that just install the modupe name Xinternal and in xposed tick mark on xinternal now your external sd is default
Who would want everything on extSD? Why not use your fast internal storage if you can? Music, Photos and videos on SD should be sufficient.
Well i think my SD Card is acting strangely since i did the new marshmallow update
When i was still running with 5.1.1 Lollipop i was able to move all apps to sd card with no problems at all,
i did a factory reset to get rid of the root and then updated to marshmallow 6.0.1 and at first i could move apps to sd card normally like i used to do with the lollipop and everything was fine until i restarted the phone, when the phone restarted all apps that were on sd card were greyed out with a small sd card icon bellow each one and when i tap on it it says app not probably installed i knew this was a common problem and leaving the phone for a few minutes would restore it but i left my phone unused for 3 hours and apps remained greyed out so i deleted them and redownloaded them again for play store but this time when i tried to move them it would say not enough space on sd card although there is 6 gbs of free space i thought maybe some leftovers from those apps still remained so i formatted my sd card 2 time once with the android and another time from my laptop ...nothing changed still cant move apps to sd card ...and on plus on that when i connect my phone to my laptop it only reads the internal storage it doesnt show the sd card as if it isnt there
any suggestions?? Any help would be appreciated and sorry for my bad English

This has been effected by the new security feature on Android 6.0.1 firmware so as not to alter app system files. You should also check your SD file system (format) for compatibility. Also if your are running a custom kernel, Android security patch prohibits non-trusted apps from making changes to to execute as system files outside the inbuilt storage
Hi
OK, so this is my question: I just installed LineageOS 15.0 on my XT1685 . And when I was using the stock ROM (N), I used my SD card to store pictures, videos, etc. After installing O, this option seemed to have disappeared for some reason. First, I couldn't get to choose save location from the stock camera app that came with the Gapps ( https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=817550096634797336 ). Then I tried installing Open Camera, but then I got this issue with not being able to write to the SD card (see attachment).
At this point my SD card was formatted as "portable". And I just could NOT get Oreo to understand that I wanted to use it as a default for storing pictures and video. After a while I gave up, and re-formatted as "internal". Which basicly means that now the phone's storage and the external storage are kinda "integrated" in a way.. the SD has become a part of a greater whole..
Which leads me to my actual question...:
Why is it that I could not get it to work as it did on Nougat - as portable, basicly..
And also; how to get around this?
Just to be clear, this is a general Android question (I think), NOT a question specific to the Lineage ROM (which is awesome btw, imo!)
Thanks,
- H
I have AOSP Extend Oreo on my g5+. I put open camera on my phone and was able to store pics on the SD card. However, it stopped working and won't store pics at all. I installed the native moto camera app, but it won't let me store pics to the SD card. I'm hoping someone can provide some assistance.
I am on stock Oreo and I currently use my SD as portable. Formatting the sd as Internal eventually led to 3 different corrupted sd cards after some time, so, if your problem is not software-related, try to stick to formatting the card as portable storage.
I only know a part of the problem, which is happening to me too: a while after restarting the phone, I open my SD card in any file manager (I have Total Commander) and it doesn't show any file but both the file manager and the system shows the Sd card's occupied and free spaces, and I've had to dismount and remount the SD card in order to be able to get to any file or folder of it, but several minutes later the files become impossible to access again.
Hi,
another strange behavior I noticed with Pie: after a restart, it seems the SD is mounted only when the phone is unlocked for the first time.
When I unlock the phone after a restart, I see the card symbol flashing for a moment in the status bar.
After every restart, I noticed the call ringtone was mysteriously reverted to basic sound. My custom ringtones are in the SD card, so the card seems to be inaccessible to the system until I unlock the phone. Copying the custom ringtones to internal memory resolves the issue, but I am concerned that inaccessible SD at startup may have other detrimental effects, depending on what is actually stored on the card.
Did you notice that, as well?
Bye,

It's for security reasons. Having 64gb storage anyone can put a ringtone in it.
