Hi all,
After hooking my phone up to a car stereo, the home and recent key stopped working.
Let me explain:
I just bought a Pioneer avh-x5800dab, with a built in feature that makes it possible to mirror your android device to your head unit. When i unplugged my phone from the head unit, the recent and home button stopped working.
The recent button lights up when i press it, and i can wake and unlock my phone with the home key. Also, both keys works in TWRP. So to me it seems android has unmapped the keys.
Back key works as normal.
I am running KryxOS R1.3
What i have tried so far:
Wipe cache and dalvik.
Uninstalled all apps related to the pioneer head unit.
Dirty flashed the rom.
I would prefer not to clean flash the rom again. Any help and suggestions would be hugely appreciated!
Similar issue
Not sure what causes it but im alao having a similar issue. Home buttong sometimes works on and off but my recent windows key does not register. It recognizes when i tap it but does not work. Also notifications no longer show up at the top.
Having the same issue
Having the same issue with the home and recent buttons, but mine isn't related to the Pioneer software. Notice that I suddenly can't uninstall apps from within the app manager, so I'm wondering if it's related to a security setting. Can't find anything that looks out of place though.

Possible Fix
As I was reviewing some of my settings I got a random notification that I couldn't review a setting because my password had expired. I went into Settings -> Lock Screen and Security and set a new PIN for myself. Home and recent buttons work again and I can delete apps. Weird. Hope it continues to work.

wtf?! They all worked fine an hour ago (power, camera, talk, softkeys, messages...) and now they don't. It isn't a hardware issue because when it goes into standby, I can press the power button to bring it out of standby. Now though, I can't open anything using their respective keys and can't power it off. Anyone have any issues like this? I hadn't installed anything or even been using the phone from the time they worked to the time they stoped working.
Try opening settings -> buttons ->lock and click in "dont lock keys"
Had similar problems that now for some reason went away.

Unfortunately, I tried that and it didn't fix it. It's so odd that the Comm Manager button works when the phone is on and that the power button will work to turn it on or to wake it up. Are there places in the registry that control what the buttons do? Maybe I need to reset this thing? I love this phone when it isn't locking or acting up.
So I reset the phone to it's factory settings. After I went through the calibration and setup, the keys still weren't working. Before I did the reset, I did notice the keyboard keys weren't working either . So after the reset, the buttons still weren't working. I kept just typing stuff in on the keyboard with Word open and it finally started working...all buttons are still working now, but I don't trust it much. Should I bring it in to Cingular to get a new one? I'm still within my 30 days
Yes. If you can get a new one do it. do it.
Hey there,
I've a big issue for a few months already.
My S4 jflte always wakes up whenever the screen turns off.
I tried to figure out where it's caused by and when I cut off the soft buttons (home/menu/back) and started the phone, the screen didn't wake up anymore.
As far as I know there is no way to repair this w/o damaging the screen itself.
So could I block the buttons from waking up the screen?
As you can see when a app is opened and the screen turns off automatically and turns on again, the home screen appears and puts the app in the background.

Could anyone help me? I've been researching for a long time and found no solution.
Says video not found.
Are you on a stock rom?
The Video is working fine for me. Did you copy the whole link and did you remove the brackets? ( )
I'm on AOSP 6.0.1 Kernel 3.4.110-Alucard-PWR-CORE from JDCTeam.
I tried different ROMs so far (including the Stock) and it's definitely a hardware issue.

have you been doing full wipes inbetween roms ? if you have then maybe it's a hardware issue.
Yes, I've always done full wipes. I'm pretty sure it's a hardware issue. Is there any way to block the keys from waking up the phone? I usually use the power button anyways to wake up the phone.
You can probably disable the keys altogether. Or maybe just the menu and back key, and leave only the home button functional.
There is no way to do it with that rom yet, but you could use Xposed and Gravity Box.
Most apps nowadays offer inbuilt menu and back options anyway.
Before you try to disconnect any buttons, try to clean the phone. That has solved many problems in the past.
Look for disassemble S4 videos on youtube, and for cleaning use a small paintbrush, or a very soft toothbrush, and Isoprophyl Alcohol(70% clean alcohol, 30% pure water), you can buy that in the Apotheke.
Clean the board an all other reachable electronics. Let it dry, reassemble and see if it helped.
Thanks for the tips, but I've already done that before (twice) without success.
I'm looking for a way to disable the keys from waking up the screen. I've tried it with the key configuration files in the system, but it didn't work.
Example: When I press the home button the screen wakes up. I just want to disable the wake up for all buttons except for the power button.
Does anyone know a app for this? Or a mod for xposed?
There is no actual "wake up" function assigned to the back and menu key. Only the home button has one. So there's nothing you can disable, except for the keys altogether. I already suggested you how to do that in the 5th reply to this thread.
I've found a work-around. I disabled the keys with 'Xposed Additions' while the screen is turned off or locked.
Thanks alot for your help guys!
Hi All
I have been reading these forums and generally googling day and night trying to work out what went wrong but haven't been able to solve it so far.
So by means of context I bought an android HU (Brand: Andream EW822P8QH) from aliexpress and was working flawlessly until about two weeks ago.
Details can be found aliexpress dot com /item/Octa-Core-2G-RAM-32G-ROM-Car-DVD-Player-Stereo-Android-7-1-Navigation-BT-For/32834839813.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.3da24c4dDGESm4
It's running 7.1.2 and was running the CarWebGuru launcher, when apparently it asked for an update.
Since then, none of the physical buttons work. I've lost all steering wheel controls, so am now just reliant on the touch screen itself, so cannot control volume, etc.
Reading all forums, I understood that under Settings - Car Settings - Steering Control settings should allow you to reconfigure all the buttons once again. Unfortunately when I try to load it, the screen goes white, then goes back to the start of the Setting menu. (Interesting, I had a short cut to Steering Controls on my desktop, but again when I launch it, screen goes black then, back to the desktop
I thought there was something in Settings - Car Settings - Extra Settings, by pressing the code 123456, but once again the screen goes white and seems to go back to the start.
It just seems as though, both these settings areas are corrupted/ gone now.
Can anybody provide me with any clues on what I can get this working again?
Happy to do a factory reset, but nothing seems to happen through the Setting menu.
Was thinking is it even possible to install a new ROM etc. I would say while I've done this on my phone, never on a head unit so welcome any advice on which ROM and some guidance on steps.
Oh I can access the Settings - Dev Options by entering the code 7890 so do let me know if you want me to look at anything there. Interesting one last symptom, my navigation menu bar (by swiping down from top of the screen) no longer works., so definitely seems like something buggy is going on.
Thanks in advance to all who reply.
I am facing this problem since tomorrow in my oneplus 5, after using my device for some time my navigation keys doesn't work anymore. I have to use software nav buttons to navigate accross system and the home button only functions when i require to input my finger print(like unlocking device or in app locker).
After doing a reboot the navigation keys function properly but after sometime the problem again starts.
!!None of the hardware buttons are working(navigation keys, volume buttons), except the power button and alwrt slider if that counts!!
The keypad test(in the list of factory tests in*#808#) was past, as i have mentioned after reboot everything works fine. The problem appears after the device hasn't been used for some time. Then if i do keypad teat on pressing navigation and volume buttons nothing happens, same happens for powwr button too although it works fine. Alert slider passes the test and works perfectly too.
!!No the phone hasn't got any physical or water damage.!!
My best guess is that i was playing with some settings action in secure settings plug in for tasker that might have caused this but i don't know which one caused this as i was playing with settings related with display and sound. See if this is any help.
Yesterday night i rebooted and everything was working fine and i locked the phone and slept. In morning my battery was below 10% and battery saver mode was activated. When i tried to use everything was working fine untill I plugged the phone in and the hardware buttons stopped working then after charging i tried to enable battery saver mode to see if the buttons work again but they didn't.
Please help with this and i have done cache cleaning please post something useful.
Factory Reset/Clean Install. This is the only advice that makes any sense.
Is there any way to just reset settings valuew to default without losing any data.

You can try to just dirty flash the rom within twrp. But I recommend to make backups before.
Wel, the issue was with auto input intercepting my buttons input, on disabling that everything is fine.

What do you mean by "auto input"? Are you referring to the "Autofill service" option?

if your issue comes back it might be part of a larger problem others are having https://forums.oneplus.com/threads/...ing-on-screen-navbar-setting-disabled.979545/
Hi,
I've been looking for support for a chinese headunit MCX-1705AD without luck. This unit was working fine for 3 weeks, bluetooth, radio, reverse camera was all working fine and now all the apps either open and then close or become unresponsive. I have tried to access infotainment from settings to reset it from there but the screen closes like the other apps. I have also soft reset the device from the front panel which does not do anything. I assume I need a firmware upgrade and I have tried contacting the seller who are useless. I hope someone on here han help me.

I have the same model and problems as you. I already solved the problems and the head unit is working normal now.
1. Turn off the player by turn car key to off position.
2. Frequently touch the screen with 5 fingers at the same time turn on the player by your car key to on position.
3. On your screen conner will show detected and the player go to recovery mode you have to wait for a few minutes until the system reboot.
