Hi All,
I have several DJ mixes in excess of 2 hours long which I like to listen to on my S4 i9500. The problem is, e.g., I have one mix which is 2 hours long and when trying to start it passed 110 minutes it cuts out forcing me to play the mix from anywhere before 110 minutes. The error I get is "Sorry, the player does not support this type of audio file" which is BS because it does. The stock music app also (sometimes) doesn't read the correct length of the file if it's (e.g.) in excess of 2 hours long.
Please note my music files aren't broken - my music files are formatted in mp3 and flac & play just fine on my PC.
I'm suspecting this is a limitation of the stock music player? Video files play correct - I have no problem forwarding a movie to a specific point in time.
Would anyone kindly shed some light on this matter?
Ps. I'm on Android Lollipop.
Google Play Music does the same. Can't forward more than like 110 minutes into the mix.
This has got something to do with Android I'm sure.
Am I the 1st person to encounter this issue?
many video players support playing music files, they really shouldn't struggle with long files.
Found an old thread on XDA regarding Android stock music player not reporting correct file lengths and music tracks skipping in Lollipop. The fix was to use Nu player in dev options. This helped ZERO for me. Anyway, seems I'm talking to myself here...
To whomever reads this, kindly grab a mp3/flac/wav/whatever sound file longer than 2 hours and try fast-forwarding to the end. If your song plays without error, I'd like to hear from you.
If not, welcome to the club
My new S6 does not have this issue. My assumption is that it is probably the roms I have/had on my S4 responsible for doing this. Probably ported S6/Note 5 stock apps would be my best guess.
I never used stock firmware on my S4 i9500 because it was too slow - maybe the problem isn't present on stock roms. I don't know & probably won't ever.
Anyway, I'm putting this one too rest. And my old S4 as well, 'cause it ain't matter no more. It's purpose was served. Sad but true. Chow!

Hi all new member,
When trying to play music videos from the device, ext. micro sd card, (not streaming online, that's ok) 95% of the time I can hear the sound but not see the video. Dosn't matter what player, what format, most of the time they won't play. If their very low quality they seem to be ok but at times even they won't play. This is on a stock install with the Dexter mod and updates. Everything else works great except videos. I have tried in .mp4 and .avi formats, no difference.
I searched these forums as well as the internet. There seems to be a lot of people with the same issue, but I was unable to find a solution. That is when I joined here to see if you guys knew of a way to eliminate this problem. I have had the unit for about a month and didn't have the issue in the beginning, it just started recently. I haven't installed anything other than I'm currently trying the VTL Launcher. I tried uninstalling that and going back to the default launcher, no difference.
Any help or guidance would be much appreciated.
Glen
Try rockplayer, you have the option of software or hardware decoding, most likely it will on software..
Hey Guys,
just got my new Nexus and I am very impressed about it. But now I am experiencing a very anoing problem:
I want to use my Nexus to record some videos, but everytime I want to watch them on my phone, it get's laggy as hell.
Playing the Videos on my computer is just fine and everything works just fine...
These problems occured even on stock.
My phone right now (sorry but I cant Upload an image)
Android-Version: 4.3
Kernel: 3.4.0-perf-g90216aa [email protected] #2
ParanoidAndroid-Version: 3.92
I wouldn't rely on the in built player, get mobo player (mobo team one) or MX player... or both
Actually I allready tried all of your suggestions, none worked better (sorry did'nt mentioned).
It's still laggy.

Reboot your phone and check what's syncing in the background.. Settings/accounts/Google, then click the gmail address/s and see what's ticked.
In my Google-Acc, everything is ticked
If you have put lots of music on lately it will all be getting upped to the cloud in the background, I think that's the way it works. Try unticking Google play music.
Yepp, will try it. Though I am not having any music on my phone right now.. :/
I guess it won't be that then. I'll try some vids later, I haven't tested since going to 4.3.
Okay, thanks..
As I already said, it was even on stock like this. Got my Nexus with 4.3 already installed.
Hope it get's better. Has anyone else an idea?
Using stock 4.3 my videos are playing fine. I used es file explorer to stream them straight over my lan, only my 720 mkv files had trouble with no sound but played smoothly at least.
Hmm, awkward... But I am not talking about streaming, and not about mkv-files...
Only recording in 1080p and playback on the nexus is laggy. Same record on PC is fine.
Hi Guys,
I have a Note 3 SM-N9005 and I have come across a really odd issue that I have yet to find a solution to.
All music and other audio – so that’s, White Noise Apps, Relaxation Assp ete every single music app I have tried from PowerAmp, N7, PowerPlay etc… ALL start skipping after about 20mins. The skips are always the same in terms of duration – almost Morse like in their regularity.
This NEVER happens with an un-rooted stock ROM. But happens EVERY time without exception with ANY other ROM I have tried.
One important thing to note is that it doesn’t happen immediately, which makes me think its an update that is incompatible with customs ROMS.
I have tried increasing the buffer, killing Google Music app etc…all to no avail…
I’d be well impressed if someone has a solution to this as it doesn’t seem to be anywhere else.
Edit:- Also its not a hardware issue as its been checked.

Bump! Seriously, nobody else experienced this???
Hi, ever since I got my G928T I've been having an extremely strange problem where video and audio will not play (regardless of source). This means nothing out of the speakers , and in the case of YouTube, the video being frozen on the first frame.
I've done a factory firmware reset through Kies, and am now rooted running the new custom kernel released a few days ago. I also converted /system, /data, and /cache to f2fs.
However, regardless of what I do, the problem persists.
The only way I've been able to do anything about this problem is by placing a phone call and then ending it. I have no idea why, but this will always fix the audio and sometimes the video for a short period of time.
Does anyone have any ideas as to why this is happening? The times when the phone call doesn't fix it are extremely annoying; I practically run my life on my phone and the inability to play media isn't a good thing.
Thanks!
A little more detail with the calling: every single time I want to play a different YouTube video, I have to open the dialer, place a call, and go back to YouTube for the video go begin playback.
Does anyone have any ideas? I'm still trying to find a solutuon!
I dont know i mean trying to find the answer does anyone know this plz give the answer ok
Furthermore, this issue isn't solely audio and video, it's every single sound throughout the OS (including keyboard clicks and tap sounds).
Very odd, I really don't know what to do :/
MAY HAVE FOUND A FIX!! I disabled AdaptSound and SoundAlive with Titanium Backup and I've yet to experience any issues.
This may be what we need!
Let me know if it works for you guys!
I also installed Viper4Audio, and used force enable for the super high audio quality driver.
EDIT: Does not seem to always work; instances of failure have still ocurred
They do, however, seem to be somewhat less frequent...
Good luck everyone!
So a bit more info: ever since installing Viper and disabling said apps via Titanium Backup, I find that most of the time I simply need to press the lock button when the song audio/video isn't working and that'll fix it. I have no idea why turning the screen off would make the phone to play the sound, but that's where I'm at now..
Hey guys! I am not able to listen to music or open youtube videos or even do anything related to output of audio of my phone. On Google play music, I get "Couldnt pay tax requested" and on youtube I get playback error. I am not able to make calls as well.
I have flashed numerous images and the issue still persists. If anyone could guide me towards the right direction that would be great.
I bought the phone 7 months ago and suddenly this incident took place. I was running stock 7.1.2 when this happened by the way
Thank you for the help.
First of all, 7.1.2 is a Beta stage not a release.
Second, If you can have sounds on other options such as ringtones and so on, then it is an OS issue and a clean flash might solve it.

Thank you for the reply.
No sound from Ringtone as well. Like no audio is playing on my phone at the moment.

So how can you tell if it isn't a hardware issue and not Android problem?
I haven't heard of what you are describing as being a known bug in 7.1.2. You can try a factory restore but personally I would do a clean flash of the latest stable Google image and see if it fixes your problem. And I would use the flash-all.bat command like Google suggests rather than flash all the parts individually like the Heisenberg guide on XDA tells you to do. I don't suppose you are running any audio mods on your phone? And you checked the obvious? Your phone isn't in Airplane Mode, Do Not Disturb isn't activated, sound shows the various volume levels aren't at 0?
Having same issue, no audio at all from speakers, cant play youtube / googleplay music or videos, headphone jack does not work eighter, wont even detect the headphones, soft reset/ hard reset wont work, havent tryed out rooting and changing rom or reverting from 8.0 (currently running), apart form audio everything works fine, im still trying to figure out warranty as its still in its period, but without proof of purchase they are beeing jerks so far, so im rooted with some ideas is ive had previous experiences with phones, might it be possible for audio drivers to go missing or messed up? or should i take it to a repair shop and see how much theyll ask for it? or shuld i just upgrade to something better and let this brave hero die alone, maybe use as hotspot in my car haha
