What's the most bug-free and stable ROM? - Galaxy S3 Neo Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi! As the title says, I'm wonder what's the most stable, and the most bug-free rom that's available for the S3 neo?
Thanks in advance!

Stock rom
Just root it, xposed it, busybox it and flash @sev3n1985 and you'll have the most stable, smooth, bug-free and battery friendly ROM you can have!!

Thanks for your answer! Okay, so there isn't a custom rom that is as stable as the stock rom then?
Bonus question :
Isn't CyanogenMod for example better when it comes to smoothness, speed and battery?

Yes, stock is the most smooth/stable ROM. And as some peoples say, no... If you have srock ROM with all the things I mentioned before, then check my thread abou S3 Neo battery life guide to have as good battery life as I have[emoji14]

Best rom/kernel

Hi, what is the best rom and kernel for galaxy s,best performance, more tweaks...atm i have cm7.
Any custom rom with tw 3 ,4?
Thanks for support.
Post link with rom .kernel......pls
Aghh that's a tough question, everyone will say "try and see for yourself the best one that fits you".
The BEST for me is latest full stock with no customization at all.

you should try this rom:F1 Galaxy S II V8 with touchwiz 4.0+Semaphore kernel 2.5.0...running so smooth and doing very well..
Link:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1129404
You should try semaphore kernel + Thunderbolt Tweaks.
For ROM, I'm using F1 Innovation HD 7.0.
It is stable and smooth......
Best rom: [ROM][ICS][I9000] Team ICSSGS RC4.2 with Semaphore 0.81, Devil 14.2 or Devil 15.1 kernels
The best stock roms are from Poland (CSC:XEO) .
Check out JS8 rom for 2.2.1 , it's fast and very stable with good signals (GPS,Wireless,etc.).
Unfortunately i don't recommend 2.3.x roms because in my opinion are simply crap.
Aokp build22 b1.2
GingerReal2 - R2.0.0+ midnight-0.8.8 kernel
Great battery life smooth fast, stable.

Lot of rom and kernel info.
Currently using MIUI 2.2.24 with patch
Very fast and stable, looks nice and good battery life.
Just to add a bit of polish I use the Black Android Theme.
Lovely looking theme if you like black themes.
Ill message the links to you.

Yes. Semaphore is the best kernel. Devil not bad too.

I finally bailed on GB and installed ICS last night. Very nice, teamics with semaphore running very smooth with no issues.
GB was always disappointing. More memory used and not much slicker or faster than Froyo.
As someone said JS8 with speedmod was very good, probably the best for being lean. ICS is probably sucking back the same amount of memory as GB but at least it runs much smoother, looks better and has some cool features added.
[ROM][ICS][I9000] Team ICSSGS RC4.2
I just installed this rom to my galaxy s. It is a bit slow but it is my favorite room.
AOKP Rom + Semaphore kernel. Trying Devil kernel atm, not bad.

What's the most vanilla ICS rom for Note?

Hello,
How are you?
I am a bit tired of Touchwiz and some lag on the phone, so I would like to switch ROMS.
So, I was wondering what is the most pure vanilla ICS 4.0.4 ROM for the Note, wich is stable and has the fewest know issues?
I am sorry for this thread, but there are so many roms developed that it is really hard to choose.
CHeers and thanks!

Well, Paranoid Android is a fantastic ROM for the Samsung Galaxy Note, as it offers a near-ICS experience that allows for both tablet and phone modes. Try it out!

Thank you for the suggestion.
Do I need to flash a modded kernel for that rom?
Or does it work stable and fast with stock GB kernel?
Cheers!

For an ICS ROM you need to use an ICS kernel. But Paranoid comes packaged with the kernel. By the sound of it you are on GB at the moment. If it's already rooted, do a full wipe then flash Paranoid and the GApps package from the same thread.
If you are already on ICS, do not do full wipe until you have read up on how to do it.

Any downsides to this ROM?
I am currently on stock Note, with ICS 4.0.3 and stock kernel. Not rooted.
Would a kernel like Speedmod work better with the nightly rom? Or is a stock GB kernel better?
Whichever rom I choose, I need to use PC Odin to revert to GB before flashing anything, right?
Cheers and thanks!
Why would anyone use cm9 If Paranoid Android is the same with much more features..
You cant use any tw kernels like speedmod. Cm9 need cm9 kernels
can i install Paranoid Android from ICS through Abyss 4.2 kernel ?
i want the safe steps to install ...........

So I cannot use modded kernels with Paranoid?
So the best way would be PC Odin to stock GB, full wipe then install Paranoid?
Would that give the best performance?
Cheers!
You can install it from ics if you want.
download Abyss Kernel 4.2
copy Kernel and PA Rom and Gapps Files to your internal SDCard
boot into Recovery
Flash Abyss Kernel 4.2
boot back in Recovery (to find under "advanced")
Factory Reset
Wipe Dalvik Cache (under "advanced")
Flash PA Rom
Flash GAPPS
reboot system

You can use modded kernels with PA, but only cm based ones like AniDroid/bbq etc.. and not the touchwiz ones like speedmod/franco.
To install, follow what the post above says, or as you mentioned use Odin to go back to gb, root/install cwm, full wipe then install Paranoid Android.

As stated above cm9 only uses cm9 based kernel, you don't have to worry about that, it will install itself when you flash the ROM.

Because not everyone like tablet mod, I've tried PA but returned to cm9 because the phone UI is more suitable for the note .
And then there is the faster update cycle of cm9.

Just my two cents: I found PA to be super buggy in comparison to CM9, the boot splash didn't fit the screen and the UI lagged a lot more, some of the apps were great in tablet mode, but CM9 feels overall far more suited to the Note.

If I install a custom Rom, either PA or CM9, can the note be reverted back to full stock? Recovery, kernel and Rom?
I am on stock is 4.0.3. What's the best procedure to install CM9 nightly?

If you want a true Vanilla experience install the 4.04 Stock Rom, you will find the there are now a lot of people using it, it is stable, fast and the battery life has improved. There is a large difference between 4.03 and 4.04 official ROMS.
I have been using it since it came out and I find that it beats everything else I have tried. On the down side the 4.04 kernel still contains the EMMC Bug so I cannot do a full wipe without reverting back to GB.

Resurrection renix 2.1 is best. Or stockmod with seven kernel. No other
motion rom 17
Ita depent of your needs. Simply I prefer clean experience and rich ways to customize my rom, debugging and battery life -> so my choise is cm11 plus cm11 kernel. Cm 12.1 is pretty good, but with renix kernel. Just read all pages from your rom choise and make a decision.

Stock sammy ROM gives the best battery life and performance in games. However, stock ROM may experience slowdowns over time which may be resolved with a clean flash. If you want AOSP, Resurrection Remix is a good choice, but you will have to sacrifice some in-game performance and camera quality.
As for which kernel, it is generally best to stay on the included kernel unless you absolutely need features like fast USB charge and sound modifications.

Other than nolimits, the ROMs you've mentioned are quite dated. For official stock ROM, download the unbranded firmware from sammobile or from updato. Samsung has stopped updating their firmware so it is highly likely that ROMs based on stock will be discontinued as well.
Flash using ODIN.
