Stock sammy ROM gives the best battery life and performance in games. However, stock ROM may experience slowdowns over time which may be resolved with a clean flash. If you want AOSP, Resurrection Remix is a good choice, but you will have to sacrifice some in-game performance and camera quality.
As for which kernel, it is generally best to stay on the included kernel unless you absolutely need features like fast USB charge and sound modifications.

Other than nolimits, the ROMs you've mentioned are quite dated. For official stock ROM, download the unbranded firmware from sammobile or from updato. Samsung has stopped updating their firmware so it is highly likely that ROMs based on stock will be discontinued as well.
Flash using ODIN.

Pretty much all of the ROMs I've mentioned previously are the best in my experience. With the AOSP ROMs, ensure you have the latest bootloader and baseband otherwise fingerprint sensor will be disabled.

Try CrDroid best aosp rom that i have used in a while.

LineageOS 14.1 (android 7.1.2) best stable, performance, battery use for me.

Alliance Rom, From Kitkat and above

[Q] I just got my S4. What should I do?

I just got my S4 (GT-I9505) from my dad. I'm really excited but I don't know where to start. What should I do first now that I have it? Should I root it first? What is the best Rom and Kernel for this device? Any advice would be much appreciated!
If I were you I will perform a factory reset first This model has many ROMs, you may try each of them and find out your favorite one.:cyclops:

I have i9505 though. I don't think it's compatible?
Once you're rooted and running custom recovery you can multiboot it, (run multiple custom Roms) all information is in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2864469
Alucard's kernel should give you good perfomance.
Or Hulk kernel. With hulk you can overclock the up to 2.1 Ghz. But I feel like Alucard gives you better performance (when running 1.9).
As for the roms, they are all pretty much the same.
I've tried Sabermod CM12.1, Resurrection Remix, AICP 9, FlexOS.
They pretty much have the same performance (judging by the UI speed).
Haven't tried the SlimLP builds yet.
I also tend to return to the GPE rom. It's 5.0.1 though.
The reason I keep coming back to GPE is that I have pretty much no problems with it. Very stable.
In benchmarks you will get the same score on all roms. I got an average of ~32000 on all the above mentioned roms.
So, in the end it will come down to how the rom feels (fast ans smooth or slow and laggy) to the user.

Any experience with CyanogenMod? When I click the ROM tab, CyanogenMod is listed first so I'm thinking that it is the most popular right now. Do you have any info on how good or how stable the mod is?
Also, quick question. When flashing a rom, I know that I wipe the cache and dalvik cache before flashing. But should I also wipe these 2 after wiping?

ooer! woa there cowboy! It's new. Take your time to explore and understand how it all works then once you get that feeling that you're sure this or that could be better that's the moment when you can think about rom flashing.
I loved the phone when I got it. I then thought hey, I'll flash cyanogen on it. That worked well for a time (and they're getting better and better with each version).
I then went a while with a danvdh's excellent google edition rom (imho a very good compromise for the minimalist).
I finally came full circle back to a TW based rom (for info the Imperium v9) with which I am most happy.
Through all that I discovered that what I wanted most was an excellent camera, good video player and good battery life, all of which come included in TW roms.
The Imperium or other roms bring nice tweaks and optimisations all of which came from that famous itch that every geek has for making things that bit better.

In bechmarks both roms give the same scores. So there isn't much to say about that. CM does feel a bit faster in my opinion. But I don't know if it offers any noticeable advantage. Unless you're willing to run android 5.0 and ktoonsez kernel (which offers CPU and GPU overclock and Is only available for CM).

And don't forget to use Greenify, Amplify and modify the kernel with the Best settings (you can found them on a thread that I started about the most battery friendly kernel for stock ROM).

Resurrection renix 2.1 is best. Or stockmod with seven kernel. No other
motion rom 17
Ita depent of your needs. Simply I prefer clean experience and rich ways to customize my rom, debugging and battery life -> so my choise is cm11 plus cm11 kernel. Cm 12.1 is pretty good, but with renix kernel. Just read all pages from your rom choise and make a decision.

N910F Best Rom?

Hi i'm still on stock rom Android 6.0.1 (updated by Odin). I wan't to install some custom rom to my N910F note 4 but there is so many roms i can't decide which one would be the best. I'm thinking of roms with note 7/s7 features. Can any of you that using decent rom give an advice which rom is most stable without bugs or only minor bugs? I don't want to lose fingerprint secure and i'm aware few roms had problems with that? Is it fixed now? If any of you have tested any roms and are happy can you make some recommendations for me for which rom i should go? I will really appreciate that

You have to flash a zip file from twrp
it will give you original note 4 settings ui then register fingerprint after that flash another zip file to restore s7 settings ui.then you can use fingerprint with c locker app for lockscreen.and fingerprint srcurity app to lock apps both of this apps are free in playstore
Just search for fingerprint workaround inside noble v3 thread and there are lot of discussion and files there.

Custom roms comes pre rooted you don't need to root
You have to be on any 6.0.1 bootloader doesn't matter
Best kernel for noble in my openion will be 1 of 3 kernels below.
1st . xceed kernel will give you performance & better battery and no over heating in my opinion
2nd. beastmode r56 will give you best speed & performance but sometimes has heating and auto sync issues with noble v3
3rd. Hvitamin kernel will give you best performance and speed but has heating issues
All of them will work with n910f
You can try every 1 couple of days dont judge in few hours kernel is good or bad
Dont forget to thanks or donate few bucks to kernels and rom developers if you can.they put lots of hours to do awesome job.
All kernels are awesome I am not saying that kernels are bad i am sharing my opinion and experience based on my usage

I've installed the rom it was working fine. However fingerprint lock don't work for me? Do i need to use third party apk for that? Second thing later i've instaled xceed kernel, everygthing seems to work fine and smooth. However eveytime i restart phone or turn it off and on in left up corner is see text "kernel is not senandroid enforcing" - is that mean something is wrong? Phone is turning on normally, there is no boot loop or anything like that but it concerns me a little bit.

smooth and fast in nexus 6p

Wich ROM, mod, kernel or combination of two of them give me the best experience in android?? I m looking for an Android system fast, smooth and best battery life. Thanks to all
If something was the best, nothing else would be used as there's no point in using something that's inferior when you can get something better.
There is no best, I suggest you read each thread and pick one that suits your needs. Saying X ROM and kernel is the best is like saying a specific vehicle is the best...One may say a Ferrari and another may say an F-350. But who's right?
Some people like roms and kernels bloated with 1000 customization options filled with placebo "optimization and enhancements". Others prefer a clean, minimal ROM without all the useless bling that they'll never use.
P.S. there's probably 10 threads like these, and possibly 11 by next week that you could've read through. I'll just copy and paste this same post on the next one.

Currently using PureNexus nougat with ElementalX kernel. The experience is pretty good.
Using the phone for SMS/MMS, YouTube and web browsing. I can get ~ 5/6h sot with a full charge on WiFi and ~ 3h30 sot on 3g/LTE which is enough for me.
Also using custom CPU governor profile in EXKernel Manager helped me with battery life without affecting performance (at least not that I noticed). You can find more infos here:

F2FS + Dark ROM + FLASH kernel ! That's the best combination and I am a serial flasher
These people that are saying there isn't a best ROM, I don't really understand the reasoning behind this. There most certainly is a best ROM kernel combination. Otherwise all these ROMs and kernels would be exactly the same right? Sorry to say, some are better than others. This is just a fact.
If you want speed, smoothness, glass, breakneck speeds, great battery life, there really is one only choice.
Uber rom by Chad and faster kernel by Chad.
Why?
On f2fs, (trust me, you want f2fs) I have yet to find kernel or ROM combination that beats this.

Uber rom by Chad I definitely agree is the best. I tried using his faster angler but it caused problems with mods like viper4arise so I am sticking with flash kernel. Uber by Chad is definitely the best rom though and I have tried so many roms like pure nexus, resurrection remix, dirty unicorns, sixRom, lineage, cyanogenmod, nitrogen, Cortex and so many more.
Is the stock camera working on either Uber or Dark ROM with f2fs file system?
Thanks
There's no such thing as a best rom fact, but only best rom opinions, which isn't a good idea to ever discuss here. [emoji14]
As for battery, that all depends on you as a user to manager your battery life your way. I get 4+ SOT easily and I listen to a lot of music and text a lot.
As for what I'm using, I'm running ABC Rom with franco.kernel, root, and V4A. ?

I basically just wiped cache and dalvik/art cache and flashed the rom and kernel and all my mods. I also made sure to do stuff like rename audio effects and everything I did to make it work with flash. I use stable 2.4 deutronomy aroma installer. I was talking to someone else on this rom and kernel and he said he had the same problem too so it might be hit and miss or maybe you flashed it different than us. Please tell.me what you did to get it to work. Thanks

Running stock has been great for me lately. Downgraded to 6.0.1 running Xposed for pixel mods. Amplify and greenify. With exkernel has been a great experience so far. Near 7h SOT yesterday. Will be going back to 7.1.1 soon, as the February update is out.. I heard lineage OS has good battery life. Will be trying that out soon in a few days.

"Best" is subjective
You'll have to try them out to see what you like the best. Read the threads of each ROM to see what to expect for stability/battery/performance

xposed? Check xposed for Samsung thread
Had my S5 for more than two years, and the circle is closed. Will be running stock with Magisk, Xposed and the Boeffla-kernel for the rest of its remaining life (1-2 years). Most important for me is stability and battery life. I miss the synchronised volume with BT though that LinageOS got.

Yes. But it's an old Securitylevelpatch and some useful apps from samsung ain't on board.
Can you please give me suggestion what to do with my Samsung S5? (just root phone and leave stock or install some rom?).
The reason I want to root is that now phone is sometimes slow. I have problems with messenger and whatsap apps for the past 1 year. Also there are some random bugs where phone freeze for several seconds or just restart.
For me, it's most important that phone and internet are stable/no freezing or dropping (I share internet from phone to PC for work). Also, I would like top
not have so many applications.. only those necessary and I will install what I want from google store.

Try crdroid. It's has great battery life, is really fast and no bugs, as far as I know. Been using it for months now.
Using first 6.0.1 stock rom, and all is good.

Old thread but why make a new one for the same question. What's the best performance/battery rom for nougat right now? I'm on KLTE. Tried crDroid then went with stock lineage and I honestly think its crap.
