Google play services are not available on this device, why not? - Galaxy Tab 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I'm trying to run this app on my tablet, which I've already purchased on my note 5, but I keep getting this error when I open the app.. The app is called MHD Flasher N54, it's a tuning app for my car which on my phone I purchased some in-app stuff and it should recognize this on my tablet but it doesn't.
Any help?
Thanks in advance

Check to make sure Google play services is up to date. Go into settings > application manager > all (it might be called applications or manage applications). Click Google play services; if the version number starts with anything other than 8.7.03, play services needs to be updated. Even if it is up to date, you should try clearing cache and data. If it is not up to date, download from here and make absolutely certain you're getting the right variation: http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/google-play-services/google-play-services-8-7-03-release/
Just to be sure, you should also try checking the same things with Google play store (ie is it up to date, version 6.0.5 or newer, and try clearing cache and data). If all that doesn't solve it, you should consider a more drastic solution: factory reset, then immediately install official firmware with Odin

I did uninstall updates and reinstall them for google play services, but I didn't check the play store yet, I'll give it a check and report back.. And yeah I'm not concerned if I have to factory reset it so worse case scenario I'll give that a shot, just hoped there was an easier fix.. thanks again..

If you want to avoid the reset, I forgot to recommend trying to install a gapps package. You'd need a custom recovery; if you don't have one already I can show you exactly which one you'd need if you don't mind telling me your tablets model number (settings > about device > device model). I recommend opengapps because they have up to date gapps packages compatible with all devices running any version of android KitKat or newer (4.4 +) plus if you read this: https://github.com/opengapps/opengapps/wiki/Advanced-Features-and-Options you can tell the stock gapps package exactly which Google apps to install or not install (to system which in my opinion makes an app run smoother than installing as a use app) as well as exactly which stock Samsung apps to remove and which to keep

1. From your tablet, head into Settings>Apps>All.
2. Search for Google Services Framework.
3. Once found, tap on it and choose “Force stop.”
4. Then choose “Clear data.”
5. Back out of Apps to your About page in Settings and check for the System update.
you might get errors while installing new apps or updating existing apps. In case you get those errors, delete all the Google accounts from your phone and configure them again.

Usually caused by custom kernel. Which rom/ kernel are you using?

I am using ROM "Dirty Unicorns". I'm guessing the kernel it came with. I will try flashing another kernel.
Try to delete Google play updates and Google play service. You can't uninstall play service natively so use 3rd apps.
Clear data on both, force close and wait until it update again/install latest apk version if you have backups.
Works for me.
This worked:
delete Google account
stop Google Framework services, clear data & cache
stop Google Play Store, clear data & cache
reboot phone
setup Google account
open Google Play Store on the phone
go to desktop browser and open Google Dashboard
open Google Play Store on desktop browser
go to my android applications, click on any of them
voilà

"Your device isn't compatible with this version"

My wife's phone...
Anyone know why she should be getting this message for the likes of Google chrome, drive, play books, search, etc, etc... clearly, it can't be true!
I have her bootloader unlocked, rooted, running xposed with a couple of modules, and a tweaked kernel (ziddey's USB-OTG tweak).
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I can't get any of these apps to update!

Possibly need to update Google services , that said I have never came across or seen anyone come across this problem.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Yeah, I'm completely baffled. No one else with ziddey's kernel tweak is complaining about this, so I'm hesitant to suspect it.
Cleared cache and dalvick, fixed permissions, cleared data on the play market and vpn'd into the US, still same problem.
I'm not sure how I would update Google services... isn't that something that would update automatically?

No it will not auto update, but it will usually prompt you once you update an app that needs it... there will be a "Security Update required" notification in the drop-down, if you swipe it away or don't allow it to update, Android will gladly let you but your apps will not function properly that require the update. The current version installed can be found in Settings-Apps-All- Google Play Services and should be 4.3.25 (1117461-036) as of this posting
It will also not allow you to search or find it in your Apps list in the Play Store without the direct link, so here it is: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.gms
Hope that helps, because otherwise a factory default might be in order, and if the problem still persists, reflashing stock images could be required.

I guess I'll have to flash back to stock - no idea why this is still happening...
I tried sideloading the latest Google Play Services, it worked, but still the "you're device isn't compatible..." error appears for many apps. Then I tried deleting accounts, clearing cache and dalvick, fixing permissions, then re-adding accounts. Same. Then I tried sideloading the latest updates of a couple of google apps (books and drive) - it worked, but still the error message in the Play Store.
Oh well. I guess that's that.
Did you modify the screen resolution? if so that could be why you are receiving that error. I experienced that with my Galaxy Nexus. If you keep resolution stock it shouldn't display that message unless for whatever reason the app truly isn't compatible with the phone.
Ive had this issie with certain apps that i KNOW are compatible with my phone. Whenever i get this error, i just use an alternate source, like blackmart, or googling the app you want to download and download it from somewhere besides google play.
Then again, since you are running a lot of custom things, you may want to try starting over from stock, not customizing anything, then try downloading those apps and seeing if your still getting that error.
Thanks, but the apps most definitely are compatible with the phone. They're Google apps on a nexus phone! And they're already installed (either stock or via the market, with no errors).
I'm aware that I can sideload the apps and have done do so successfully with a couple of them, but that really defeats the convenience of automatic updates, especially seeing as it's my wife's phone.
I will, when I have time, try factory restoring or flashing stock and going from there. The mods I'm using are fairly minor, but I suppose something, somewhere must have gotten screwed up.
Oh well, thanks for all the help anyway.

If your rooted, download lucky patcher, and theres an option to download a modded google play store. Have no idea if this will help with your issue, but its just an idea if wanna wanna give it a shot.

He already has the apps installed, that's not the issue, these are even stock Google apps saying they are incompatible after successfully installed. Unfortunately this is probably a wipe and reinstall situation now.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk
or he should watch at the build.prop or there is something edited or need to wipe data from google playstore or there is some xposed module which is causing it I don't know but if you edited a lot on that custom rom with kernel and like that backup it first don't go immediately to stock or else it was just wasted time for you. It could also be your dpi but I don't think that's it also wipe cache in recovery that might work.
I'm sure this will work for you.
Open Settings app → Tap on Apps → Look for the Google Play Store and tap on it → Press on three-dots at the right corner and Tap on Uninstall updates → Tap on Ok to confirm
That's it!

Stop and frozen problems with Play Store and other apps after update to Android 8.1

Hi everyone,
After 2 years of using my Axon 7 (China) I decided to update.
I choose Oreo 8.1, and I want to stay with it because Dolby Atmos app is much better.
I try to install the other updates of 8.1 and the problem is still the same:
Apps for example JetAudio is running very long when I turn on to listen music, sometime frozen.
Play store too, when I use this app It can frozen, app is closed information on not respond.
Sometimes is info ,,Interface has stopped"
I use apk google installer to install google services or I install manual apk from apk mirror, and it still same problem.
I try to turn on permission to storage.
There is a more options for aps about energy or run in the background and I think its not helpful, maybe someone knows some options that I didn't find ?
Please help..

Hi.
This was my situation on b15-b16 update also.
Try empty cache of the google playstore, services, framework etc.
But my suggestion is that do full reset, and than go to zte market and download google downloader.
Than you will get a much faster (and clean) device.
Btw Where did you get 8.1 ? My knowing was that 8.0 (b19) is still in beta phase. Never heard about 8.1.

Ups, I made mistake. It's 8.0.0 Oreo, I get it from forum and flash with EDL mode.
Clear cache no results..
But how I go to ZTE Market ? I need to create account ? If yes, it's immposible because they ask for phone number and number from Poland didn't work.
Is there some other option to go to ZTE Market ?

No need for phone number. Maybe you should to register (zte account), but without telephone number. I'm from Hungary and it's works. Sorry that I can't recall the process, it was one day painful work that solved

Android update and what model

Hi can anyone help please. I have a Chinese head unit that keeps crashing when I try to log into google or the App Store. Wonder if it is better to reflash it and upgrade the os. I can’t find out what make or model it is. Thanks
Of course! The only solution is to update.
And have you tried clearing memory and app data first, uninstalling play store and google service updates or restoring factory settings?
Reveal what you've done so far.

H, yes I’ve factory reset it and also cleared data and still won’t let me log in. When I try I get 1 letter in the username and it just crashes.
Download the latest version for android 8.1 manually from apkmirror store and google services. Allow installation in settings and install services first, then store.

Can you log in through your web browser?
Google suggests changing the login mode from time to time. Have you set any special account security mode on your account?
What country are you logging in from?
Try logging into your other google account.

APP/APK Updater

Hi
Like Google Play, is there an updater that updates app from APKmirror or others automatic?
There are but I would suggest aurora which uses Google play without an account
Forgot to mention, it can also be apps that are not on Google Play.
Ex for me is: Disney+, have to find it on apkmirror (or others), has disappeared from my Google Play....
Ofcourse other apps also, that is not on google play.
Disney + is still on Google play Maybe not for your country or something but aurora uses anonymity to show you everything on the Play store
Something happens after a reset of my Shield. So can't find it anymore.
I will try aurora, tried it now on my phone, looks great.
New to this, so 1 question: Is it possible to make update and install. Now I had to hit install/upgrade for each of the apps?
And maybe run in the background and update apps?
With root yes that will auto update
Thanks for the answer.
Haven't read or tried that in years. Maybe I'll check for the Shield, my phone is brand new so I'll have to think about that.
Is it still the hassel of USB, program and much code on the laptop, if I could ask?
Now it's just using a modified boot file. An oversimplified explanation is to just enable oem unlock, reset to factory settings, extract the boot file, magisk modifies it, put it back in the phone and boom you're rooted
Thanks, will try to find the howto for my Shield and maybe my phone.
