Un- Root - Odin issues - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshootin

Bought a Note 5, and now sold my phone, but buyer wants it back to stock. I rooted the phone with King Root, worked without a hitch, and have never run an ROM's, just ran stock 5.1.1 OTA update. I've restore phones in the past back to stock, never had problem like this.
I tried (3) versions of Odin, different ports on my PC, couple of different USB drivers. Odin 9 and 10 but immediately failed using stock firmware file. I then tried Odin 1.85 using Pit / JFLTE_USA_ATT_16G, and another stock firmware file, and had success / passed. But according to directions, I was suppose to unplug the USB cable at Pass, and at Samsung logo remove the battery. I wasn't paying attention, and while connecting, the phone booted without issue to new phone / account menu. I then restarted the phone, and it was still showing Samsung with the unlocked padlock symbol, suggesting it still was rooted. I then tried to run Odin 1.85 files again, this time around it would get part way through and Fail. Now it seems Odin might have bricked my phone, now it just goes to screen saying "Firmware upgraded encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies& try again.". I've used Kies in the past to back up phones, update firmware a few times, but never had much luck with the app when it came to recovery. I've tried different cables, different ports, same results.
Any suggestions as where to go from here, or what to try next? I have been unable to get the phone in download mode via home, vol. up, and pwr button.
Before the above issue, I was able to see the device in "This PC", I can see both the device storage, and my SD card. Now my PC not recognizing the phone when plugged in.

The Odin flash failed because of a bootloader issue as indicated by the aboot.mbn error. Either the rom is not for the phone or the bootloader in the rom is older than the bootloader in the phone.

[Q] S4 GT-I9505 Bricked?

Ok... so apparently i did something wrong. I posted earlier that i had issues after i rooted my mobile coz i was getting blocked by knox and i was unable to update in future. So i tried Unrooting it.
I got to know from samsung kies 3 that my cell was from Germany (DBT). And when i bought it i believe i had 4.2.2 in it. so i downloaded a stock firmware. i downloaded Triangle Away and i downloaded Odin3.
I enabled USB debugging. Launched Triangle away, asked me to confirm if it was GT-I9505 (Hit yes). Tapped Reset flash whatever as per video. it said danger, i proceeded, then it asked me to make sure i was using a stock Kernel (no idea if i was or not) but i hit yes... it rebooted into odin mode (download mode). connected it to PC and odin.. i saw the blue bar there and the message saying Added... clicked PDA, added the firmware and hit start... AND IT FAILED... the error is below:

Now when i start it.. i only get the warning saying " FIRMWARE UPGRADE ENCOUNTERED AN ISSUE. PLEASE SELECT RECOVERY MODE IN KIES AND TRY AGAIN"
the counter for knoxx warranty void is 0x1 by the way... doesnt matter as long as i can get my cell to operate again... SO where did i go wrong? and how can i save it? i tried connecting to Samsung Kies but i dont get any selection for recovery either.
FIXED!
Okay! I somehow managed to reinstall the firmware. I got my cell working again.. it was what i believe you term as Soft Brick.
Anyways... Now it is still rooted. I tried opening the Superuser.. it says that apparently some binaries are not installed. i tried opening Triangle Away. Wont work since Superuser permission isnt granted. Do i have to root it again and then unroot? or is there a way to unroot it completely without going through the fuss again?
samsung galaxy S4: GT-I9505

Help much appreciated
P.S: I dont care if the data is lost... the cell is pretty much empty!

S4 GT-I9506 is stuck on Firmware upgrade encountered an issue

this model seems difficult (gt-i9506)
i tried to root it via towelroot, then kingoroot, these failed but then now the reboot is stuck on "firmware upgrade encountered an issue"
ive tried Kies firmware recovery but the download fails after 80%,
ive tried the sammobile download the ROM this too fails, network drops out tried this 3 times
i want to try Kies emergency recovery but cant find any recovery code
im stuck i dont know what to do now been researching for 4 hours cant find solution :crying:
could anyone please help?? am going crazy over this spent 2 days researching and finding nothing
Download a complete stock rom and flash it with ODIN. You have to uninstall KIES beforehand (they are conflicting).
thanks for reply...
i took kies off and this is what Odin is giving me...

Not sure... but looks like the rom is not for that device. Are you sure you have a i9506?

can anyone see the fault here...?? no error came up on the device, only on Odin this time
Did you restart after KIES de-installation? Was USB driver successfully missing (so you had to install one manually for ODIN)? If not, you probably still have drivers/files running from KIES.
Otherwise, try a different computer to double check its not the system.
If you originally updated to Android 4.4.x or later on this device, you cannot install 4.3.x or lower as Knox within the bootloader will actively prevent Odin from functioning. As to Odin, make sure you're using the original cable, are not using a hub, have Kies disabled or uninstalled, and use a different USB port. Odin sometimes is picky about the ports it uses.
If you can get the ROM issue resolved, use CF-Autoroot to root, keeping in mind that you will trip the Knox flag in doing so. Towelroot and other one-click root methods don't work on your device.
FIXED IT!!!!!!! :laugh::silly::good::cyclops:
Moved all operations to a different PC running XP with no kies on it
The error still occurred "write fail"
So instead i tried Odin 3.09 instead of 3.07 but most of all i changed usb cables, found an original cable off my mates Nokia
then boom!!! she starting writing!!!
Thankyou so much you legends, you are now my best friends forever!!!
Strangely the new flash, all my old previous data & apps are still on there??? somehow the network is not locked either which i was fearing being a vodafone ROM
still want to root it though
Flashing a ROM through Odin doesn't wipe the data partition, which is why your apps are untouched.

Help with downgrading to android 4.4.4 on SM-G900V?

To start out, I will say that I am not the best with this kind of stuff and do not know THAT much about rooting/flashing ROMs and what not. I have read many posts about how to go about doing this and here is what I tried. I downloaded Odin 3.11.1 and the most recent Android 4.4.4 version (USA) from SamMobile. I turned my phone off and put it into download mode. After this, I started Odin, and pressed VOL up on my device to continue. Odin said "Added". I selected the file to flash in the AP section (G900VVRU1ANK2_G900VVZW1ANK2_G900VVRU1ANK2_HOME.tar.md5) and hit start. This is what came up in Odin:

I have tried this many times with all the USB slots on my PC and with 3 different cords. I have also tried different versions of Odin. I'm not sure if any of that would change anything, like I said, I do not really know what I am doing. Am I doing something wrong here? Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks, Hunter.

You cannot downgrade from BOE1, BOG5, BOK3, BPB1, DPD1, or DPF4. As of BOE1, the bootloader was fused to prevent downgrading.
If you do have a downgrade-able firmware still installed on your phone, then the most likely remaining problem is that the file you're trying to flash is corrupt or incomplete: compare the md5 hash
You can do a partial downgrade to kk 4.4.2 you will still have pb1 bootloader but it does work in s5 verizon general there is a thread by brens123 called I booted into ncg on pb1 bootloader you might be able to subsitute the nk2 firmware instead of ncg firmware using his guide

Please help me unbrick my S4 (bootloader locked - cannot write with odin)

Hi Guys,
Ok this is my problem, the phone is a Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE SGH-I337 ATT Unlocked i bought a year ago here in Argentina, the phone came with the Android 5.0.1 "OC3" firmware. The phone is a refurbished one.
Arount six month ago, the phone started a weird problem, it cannot make o receive calls (it rings actually, but you cannot hear the caller and the caller cannot hear me).
This happend after i pass the phone turned on in the airport scanner (i always turned it off before), so initially i though of some kind of related problem with that.
After researching online, my conclusion was the problem is related to the common sim card tray problems stated in another post here.
So i got a new phone and i tought to flash another android version to change the modem, because i really need to sell the S4.
This is the steps i do
First i root the phone with the Wondershare mobile trial app. I seems to work fine.
Then i load Odin 3.09 (is not my first Samsung, i have flashed another friends Samsungs before) and i try the methods for rolling back to NB1 and go to OC4/OK2, but none works!
All flashes stops in recovery.img write failed. So i read some more and yes my bootloader is locked and now i have a softbricked phone.
I try with Kies, nothing. Now i just want it to came back to life again.
I know i shound read more, and its my fault.
Its there any way to unbrick my phone?
Please Help!
Thanks
This is the tl;dr

Kies doesnt allow to recover
Tried anothed methods, always says fails write o complete failed when write.
I use the back USBs from my PC, all USB 2.0, and its a "good" data cable.
I use Odin 3.09, and Odin 3.10.6
I use Kies 2 and Kies 3
I try to flash recovery-mj6.tar.md5 also (i found in another post here), always fails in write
I use 1.5.61 Samsung USB Drivers
I Use Windows 7 32 bits
Please Help!
Thanks
Sounds like you have a bad download of the NB1 firmware. Try downloading it again and flashing it again with Odin 3.09 or 3.07. I have used both versions of Odin on my i337 AT&T GS4 and I've had your exact problem before when I didn't get all the parts of the NB1 firmware in their places. I've never successfully flashed out of a soft brick with Kies, just Odin.
Hi, thanks for your response.
I have 2 NB1 tar.md5 files, both download from links i encounter here in this forum

I just tryed again and now is stuck in system (i dont know why, yesterday always got stuck in recovery.img, maybe because i flash recovery_mj6.tar last night? idk)

Galaxy S5 Active SM-G870W - CAN - Bell - Unlocked - Failed Root ODIN Mode

Hi!
!Total Newbie Alert!
I have a Galaxy S5 Active, SM-G870W. It was with Bell, but I unlocked and have been using another provider for some time now. I recently needed to install an app that needs root access, and figured I would be able to do the same.
In the distant past I had rooted some ancient android devices, so I read a bunch of pages, and feeling far too confident I pulled the trigger and tried to root my phone using the CF-Auto-Root tool from the firmware dot mobi website.
I entered SM-G870W, selected the only device option, hit Submit, Selected Android 6.0.1 (Build MMB29M.G870WVLU1CPF6), and continued to download a file:
cfar_samsung_sm-g870w_kltevlactive_mmb29m.g870wvlu1cpf6_t0.zip
I Extracted then launched the root.bat batch file, Odin Launched (Ver 3.12), I pick the AP as specified, and I get the following:

The phone stays at "Downloading... Do not turn off target!!"
I pulled the battery and rebooted into download mode again (Vol Down/Home/Power) and retried with the same file, and the same results.
I also tried powering up in recovery (Vol Up/Home/Power), but I get a message
Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again
Click to collapse
At this point I am trying to get my device at least usable, I can restart in download mode no issue, but even after regenerating and redownloading, I am not able to get past this error.
I spent the last 6 or so hours going over posts here and elsewhere, with no luck, I tried Kies (Version 3.2.16084_2) and it says "The connected device is not supported by Kies 3" and the link to view supported devices on Samsungs site does not lead to any information. I also read somewhere that you can't root Android 6 images, but that post was 2014, and I found contradicting information elsewhere.
I would appreciate help on where to go from here, my priority is getting the phone working, rooted or not.
Thanks in advance!
