Re-flash stock firmware - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

If I wanted to reflash stock factory firmware, do I need to be rooted?
I need odin? is this the correct official odin page www.odindownload.com?

No, you do not need to be rooted. Yes, that is the correct Odin home page.

The firmware link on galaxynote3root.com is the sammobile.com. I flashed that firmware, but the stock recovery didn't come back, but it unrooted it. Does anyone have a copy of the stock recovery that they could send me a download too? Because otherwise I am screwed here.

You can use this app to change your CSC. However, two things.
A. You need to be rooted beyond XXELLA
B. Your selected rom needs to support multi csc
( tried that before but doesn't work as its unrooted and on stock software

It should work, but you need to root if you're on XXELLA or above
Sorry not that much of a techie :silly: what is XXELLA? So it doesn't need to be rooted? Because when i press change CSC it comes up with com.android.preconfig not found on your device and takes me to the dialer with *#272*1759# already punched in?? After ringing that I get Connection problem or invalid MMI code.

Xxella would be a 4.1.2 firmware.
It would look like your stock setup doesn't have a multi CSC setup so I'm not sure if you're able to change to BTU

if I am not wrong you need:
(1) be rooted to change the CSC
(2) after that you can use the tool mentioned before and/or flash a BTU rom
or maybe easier:
just flash the newest 4.3 rom version (you can do this without root as well I think)
Flash the latest 4.3 rom for the UK, using odin and following the guide in sticky thread.
Factory reset from recovery, reboot and csc should match the firmware.

I'm pretty sure this method will default the CSC to "KOR"
You want to flash the ELL4 U.K. firmware from the stock firmware thread. Download the S2/S3 CSC changer app from the play store and set the CSC to BTU.
This will factory reset the device, so make sure you have your important files backed up.
Then proceed to flash MK6 4.3. Now everything will match.

If you flash a untouched 4.3 rom thru odin it does not void the warranty. It will read official in Odin. At least on my phone it did. Like they said earlier they should have a uk version floating around somewhere. Otherwise just leave it alone and wait for the update. I hope that helps

Removing Branding?

I've just received a Note 3 I bought online as sim free unlocked, when its arrived I noticed it has an O2 splash screen
Is there anyway to remove this and put a stock rom on?
ODIN. Just grab the unbranded firmware from the same country (or region) off Sammobile and flash it over the Branded one. If you stick with the official firmware this won't trigger KNOX.

Yes, of course.
First, you should know what CSC you are now. Use Phone INFO ★Samsung★ to get this info.

If you wipe the phone fully afterwards (through recovery), then yes. Otherwise the CSC stays O2.

You are aware we have rules against self-promotion?
Just dial *#1234#. No need for 3rd party apps.

Are you aware that, on some Samsung models (especially on branded phone, e.g Verizon, Sprint...), you cannot dial the *# code?

And since he clearly mentioned it was an O2 phone, which isn't from the US(which is the only country selling branded phones, the EU for one forbid it by law.), in his first post, linking to your own app can be considered self promotion.
(I do, however, commend you for making that app for the people who can't use the dialer codes.)
Not a guy.

Is it possible to downgrade note 3 from 5.0 to 4.4?

Friends, is it possible to downgrade n9005 back to kitkat? I am having many problems on 5.0.
I have searched the forum but could not find any step by step guide to do so.
I'd use Odin to install a 4.4 stock and work from there

That's all? Should I flash with odin? Are you sure? I read some where that lollipop can not be downgraded. Please someone confirm it. I don't want to brick my phone.

Worked for me without any issues. Obviously you need to unlock the bootloader etc again afterwards as it just becomes stock but I've gone from 4.4 to 5 and back again several times.

Is it possible to UNROOT Note 4 N910F and make it like really new. Totally unrooting?

Hey thanks for your time. Is there such process or alink which shows us how to do this? I mean like really unrooting and installing stock firmware and the knox counter to 0 like really fresh install?
