Fastest Browser for Mate 7 has been found, makes big difference - Ascend Mate 7 General

I have some important news, we recently got Marshmallow for Mate 7 it did give is life-saving performance improvements.
However we saw absolute zero performance boost in Chrome and web browsing this was one of the things I did really expect.
Using the fastest animations speed settings in dev options tab switching animation was always very choppy so far away from 60fps.
default animation speed is set very slow and made for coma patients imo, because of the slow animation you might not see this but I use the fastest I cannot stand slow animations.
As I said I saw no improvement in marshmallow I found scrolling to be almost more choppy then in lollipop, this made me change to opera for 2 days this solve the scrolling problem a lot more smooth scrolling and animations in general, it is also based on chromium. Opera is now my second choice.
So my first choice you might wonder ?
The fastest Chromium based browser have been found, it was released only about 2 weeks ago it is based on chromium it has a lot faster loading times then chrome, faster and more smoth animation for switch tabs, a lot smother scrolling . Try it yourself, this is like chrome but with better privacy protection and less bloat. This is yet one more life-saver for mate 7 and will prolong the life span some more, since the browsing performance did really frustrate me before found this browser.
It is called: SRware IRON

Honestly apus surprised me it is definietly faster them chrome, it has very fast gui, but rendering and scroll smoothness is fast too.
It is very close to IRON not sure which is fastest to be honest I must try them out little bit more.
Apus is it based on chromium or what is engine based on ?

Also when you compare you should disable the apus ad blocker since it can impact if you compare with iron. (I use comodo ad blocker that works in the background on all apps)

I think IRON is still more consistent, apus use some tricks which make it appear faster, such as the scrolling speed is a lot higher, but it so fast that the cpu drop frames. I think IRON is more consistent.
I have not been able to find what browser apus is based on, it reminds me little bit of opera.
One bad thing with Apus is that it has a lot bloat stuff, which you can't turn off.. I find the tab switcing animation to be smother on Iron.

Well... I think we all agree that Chrome is famous for its big RAM consumption, which implies a big battery consumption...
That is why I am asking about it

Well I am amazed how much faster Iron is. Even Opera is faster it has less bloth a lot smother scrolling for sure.
Conclusion is chrome is overrated crap with a lot of bloat.
Thanks to Iron and Marshmallow I will survive until Mate 9 without any problems!
Huawei Mate S2 will be released in september it might be of interest to it will have curved display on top and bottom but not at the sides like Galaxy Edge

Need even MORE eye candy!

Since I've had my DZ I have been mildly impressed with the fade-out effect when closing applications, compared to what I had on my old Desire. I'm also now running ADW EX Launcher and the transition effects it provides when moving from homescreen to homescreen are nothing short of awesome!
As well as knowing my phone's OS is technically advanced compared to others (iOS, WP7), I'm really looking now to make everything about it as beautiful, slick, futuristic and flashy as possible.I want iPhone/WP7 owners to pick up my phone and go "WOW!" Any suggestions?
EDIT: I'm looking for widgets, apps and modifications that will take my phone to the next level.
I want this Surfcube Browser on Android...
You can try some live wallpapers, such as the fish tank and there area bunch of matrix wallpapers.
Yeah, live wallpapers are good - definitely something that iOS and WP7 can't do.
I've been browsing around the other forums and I think I just need some nice animations, along these lines
Perhaps I need to go and hassle some ROM chefs to add some of that stuff into their Sense ROMs.
Any other suggestions? I'm quite missing my Sense widgets (cos I'm using a replacement launcher).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=814072
Check out that thread and it will really add some eye candy to your phone. The transitions can be applied through metamorph. Just make sure the transitions.xml file is there and apply it and the transitions should be working, may require a reboot though.

To be really really honest, I'd rather have no transition effects at all and have the thing open the next screen in 0.0000001 milliseconds then to have fancy shamcy transitions and have it delay like 2 seconds or 3 seconds for it to go to the next screen.
I mean, we are not exactly in elementary school anymore where we are all impressed with fancy transitions on the phone and on power points...

Isn't it great that Android can accommodate us both!
And despite my phone being no slouch, until it really CAN open apps instantaneously, I'd rather kill that 0.25sec with something nice to look at, than a briefly blank screen.

Stock Nexus 10 best Browser Benchmarks

I am the proud owner of a new Nexus 10, and I thought I would carry out some browser benchmarks to see which browser worked best as the earlier bechmarks using Chrome were a little dissapointing...
The bechmarks are lower is better with the exception of V8
Sunspider, V8(higher is better), Kraken
Chrome (stock) 1365ms, 3023, 11222
QQ Browser 881ms, 4032, 10087
Boat Browser 886ms, 3614, 10213
By comparison here are the Iphone 5 benchmarks
Safari 908ms, 1553, 19618
As you can see - this thing really flies and is the fastest android device i've ever used
What about dolphin browser with the jet pack addon, I'd imagine that would do quite well score wise.

Wow those are really impressive ill test out dolphin now
---------- Post added at 05:46 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:25 PM ----------
Dolphin Browser 1116ms, 3542, 9314ms
better than chrome
dolphin
Yeah, dolphin browser is quick but it doesn't support flash.. So IMHO boat browser is the fastest flash supporting browser for the nexus 10...
Shame boat doesn't have syncing with chrome
Yeah that is the only thing lacking, so i'm keeping chrome close to hand... But boat and QQ browsing really is so fast and a joy to use, seems as fast as my desktop... Hopefully google will optimize Chrome soon
Cant wait to see AOSP browser on this thing!

I've tested both Firefox and Ocean in Sun spider.
Ocean got 780ms and Firefox got just over 1000ms.
Ocean also is as smooth as the iPad in scrolling/zooming, while Firefox was a bit more studdery in my experience.

Well, I've tried them both out, and actually I've gone with the recent update to Dolphin Beta 1.2 for JB. It runs -Very- smoothly and much better than Chrome(which is pretty easy right now). It doesn't load pages quite as fast, but it's close.
I've never been a huge fan of Boat (I dislike the bottom navigation bar that you can't remove).
Ocean is very quick on not so media heavy sites, but I hate how much screen you lose to the address bar and tabs.
I also had a lot of screen tearing and rendering issues with Boat and Ocean.
I frequent Roosterteeth.com and both ocean and Boat would just bog down, give up and render nothing but a tiny sort of grid like static.
So for me my daily driver is going to be Dolphin Beta for now. If I need Flash, Firefox is my pick for that. It's a clunky interface and a little buggy but handles Flash nicely when it has the system resources the Nexus 10 can provide. I also didn't experience any of the rendering issues Boat and Ocean had while using Firefox.
So I've got to trade some performance for compatibility. That's my take anyway.
Also, the Nexus 10 is Awesome.
So, is jet-pack a plug in or stand alone browser? I've downloaded Dolphin, Dolphin beta, and Jet pack. They all show up separately in my apps.

If you enable the quick controls the interface disappears. It's very similar to the AOSP browser except a different layout on the controls.

Jetpack is a custom back-end renderer for Dolphin as opposed to just being a shell interface for the stock renderer. You can think of it like a plug-in but it's more than that.

Custom roms and lag speed for an artist

Hello, I have a GN10.1 2014 and I was an ex owner of a GN10.1 2012, my question is quite simple, does the custom roms actually get rid of the lag when you draw ? I will be more specific, I didn't had any kind of lag on my old GN and now with the new screen (double the pixels) I have to use the 2x mode to draw smoothly... which mean that it's like drawing with the old one.
That occur with Layerpaint and Layerpaint HD, I own these 2 on the old one and I have to say I barely use them now because of that responsiveness. Sketchbook is cooler but of course (and I guess you noticed) it's zoomed in.
Can anyone confirm that it's getting better by installing a custom rom specifically to draw ? I don't want to lose the warranty (knox), because here now they check if you installed a custom rom or not...
Thanks in advance !

yes exactly one in my sig. I use my tab so much that my phone (also in sig) battery life is around 3-4 days. I charge my tab every night though.
For drawing on Note 10.1 2014 edition, I recommend Artflow studio. I get no lag whatsoever using that.

But first... Can you please tell me if I should install the kernel first and then the ROM, or is it the other way around?
I don't want to make any mistakes.

You have to turn off the force gpu rendering, ull see a notable change in how smooth it is. Custom rom would help, gets rid of the crapware which eats up system resources and slowing down processor speed overall.

Petition A protest against Huawei/EMUI's old school Multitasking/recent app menu

many of us have had enough, let's face it the old school kitkat style of Huawei's multitasking/recent apps is a joke and destroy the whole workflow and multitasking of the device
My Plan is to collect as many names as possible and I will send it to Huawei.
What makes me angry is that even Huawei 8 seem to have the same multitasking look.
Vote in the poll and write in the thread what you voted.
THIS is what multitasking on android SHOULD look like.

How does a diffrent launcher help it help nothing at all!
the multitask/recent app button will still lead to the same EMUI based multi task page which looks terrible.
Bad overview and slow, force you to swipe thru pages inastead of see all open tabs in one page in an overview.

Well on the Mate 7 forum 78% does not like the EMUI recent apps multitasking.
Well the sad part is there is no easy way to get rid of this EMUI multitasking, a different launcher will not help, if you go thru great pain to root the device and modify the software a lot you can get rid of it, but it is not easy. If it was possible to change with laucnher it wold be no problem, unless you root no matter what you do if you push the multitask/recent apps button it will lead to the EMUI recent app pages, which is usless, the main reason for that it lacks of "overview, only "4 taps" are visible, while with android vanilla way you can over 20 tabs or more visible in just an overview, which is very superior, also it goes a lot faster to swipe thru all tabs, while in the EMUI you have to swipe thru packages, this is typical "chinese brainless" software design. That it looks almost the same for the Mate 8 does make me very angry, this is a dealkiller for me, multi tasking is important, I used the LG G3 for 3 months during my Mate 7 was on repair I did really like the standard recent app tabs, it is so superior so much faster and flexible, I have no idea why the chinese do not see this, there is no benifit at all with EMUI's recent apps functionality, it is also to slow and responsive to be useful. it should be fast and snappy as it was on ,y LG G3. Shame on you Huawei...I hope you are reading this.

Multitasking on android 6.0/emui 4.0

In the wait of Marshmallow, been trying 30 launchers, Launcher Lab=medicine for M7

I have always hated the stock huawei launcher.
Huawei is equipment with kind of bad hardware with and cpu that are not optimized enough.
A lot the performance and lag related problem seem to be solved with Marshmallow since I seen people say how impressed they are how much faster apps are open etc
they really see the difference so it is clear because people see the difference there is a performance problem with mate 7 lollipop is just that people are used to it.
Huawei is trying to mask its performance problems with using slow animations, slow animations makes me very frustrated and make me very unproductive since everything is going so slow, I want fast and smooth animation, I have set in developer options 0.5x on all 3 animation related settings. This solves a lot of things the problem is the hardware is not really designed for these fast animations, when using this settings you will see a lot more easy the performance difference between launcher since the hardware is working more close to its maximum capacity.
God knows when marshmallow will be released I would guess around q4 2016 not earlier honestly.
So what can we do if you are as me a desperate need for a real world performance boost and cant stand the sluggish software performance ?
I can tell you your best chance to get a new phone with new performance is to change launcher.
Please consider my main goal is performance here, if you ask me a lot of launchers have way too much bloat since they are free they must make money some how, the search function
in many good launcher is one example, the search function is filled with so much bloat crap that it slows down the performance , besides this there is many good launcher like c laucnher cheetah launcher launcher line launcher but all have this really bad search function which just make me hate the launcher, please note that the differences in launchers are not in the home screen or app drawer they all have equally well optimized performance here, it is when opening and switching app and also browsing you will sere the best differences
I did earlier a research and tried out many launchers in the end I did end up with Apex laucnher, it did gave me the fastest and smoothest animations , Nova Launcher does really not like Mate 7 please consider I use the 3GB variant, but I found a lot more sluggish performance in web browser a lot more lag when opening and switching app.
Last week I decided to try a lot more launchers a chance, focusing on performance, unfortunately not many laucnhers have the same good folder management as nova/apex/google now but they have a lot bigger folder which is non-ergonomic and one hand usage for a big phone like mate 7 on earlier test I did diss all laucnhers who not have this folder management, but I have now decided to compromise in this regard and be open to try other launchers as well
After trying like 30 launchers I was about to give up, but then I tested this kind of new laucnher called "launcher lab" , i was very postively surprised it works very well with Mate 7, it is a plus that it is kind of mordern looking but I focus mainly on performance and animations, the laucnhers has its own app opening animation which seem to work well with the Mate 7 Gpu.

So to sumurize, Laucnher lab is the best possible upgrade in the wait for Marshmallow, this laucnher is faster then Apex for me less micro lag and will for sure give better and fast animation performance when opening and switching apps, no lag, while you can get fast and smoth animations with other laucnhers I see no micro lag with this one, the biggest difference I see in chrome, chrome is now a lot more fast switching tabs are a lot more smooth and opening REMEMBER THIS IS ALL WHEN HAVING 0.5X ANIMATION SPEED ON ALL 3 ANIMATION SETTINGS IN DEVELOPER OPTIONS SO IF I AM GOING TO RECOMMEND YOU THIS LAUCNHER THIS IS A REQUIREMENT.
You can download it here
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gtp.launcherlab
I no longer recommend this launcher it become sluggish after some time
I now recommend
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.pierrox.lightning_launcher_extreme
it gives superior launcher I am impressed with this one
My setup (on kitkat) is, 0.5 or 0 animations, turn on force GPU in 2D applications (dev options). Smart Launcher Pro, no widgets or animations, run EX Kernel Manager to increase I/O read ahead buffer size and use both CPU's on interactive governor.
The problem is that the phone tries to stay on the low speed CPU too long and makes UI choppy.
Mine is now fast, responsive and smooth, unless the data connection holds it back.
A custom kernel is what the phone needs.

I have never rooted a phone I alawys been little bit scared of it, caues I read some people brick their phone I am also careful of my data on my phone.
Myabe you can convince it is easy and not much risk with it then I consider rooting my device ?
This cpu tweak can probably just as big impact as on the new Marshallow update we all are waiting for
I damaged my OS so had to flash my phone to save it and went to LP and actually found LP ran much smoother than KK without mods even before modding anything in LP. The kernel manager app also works on LP though
I may try MM but so far, LP is nice.
If you start rooting and flashing, double check everything and be careful on which ROMs can flash over what is already there. Also keep a record of what works so you can do it again later if needed, without researching it again. Rooting is worth it. Debloating the OS is great to free up memory space.
Just ran Antutu with my current B331 install. It was always below 50000 on kitkat B130 but LP just gave me a 52900 score. Big jump for just an OS change.
Raised read ahead cache from 256 to 512Kb and scored 53621
Will raise it again and see if it helps.
Got 53717 last test with read ahead cache at 1024kb. Diminishing returns kicking in.
