Hi,
I was about to install a custom rom on my LG L5 E615 when i thought of something stupid, which was "how about i do everything that one does before installing a custom ROM except i don't install it"
So, i opened CWM and wiped everything that needs to be wiped(data/devkin,etc), then i clicked on reboot, here the recovery made me realise my mistake and told me "You didn't install a ROM but are about to reboot the android, the phone might install stock recovery over CWM"(these aren't the exact words but this is what it meant). Realising this, i click on "Go Back" thinking once the ROM is downloaded, i'll put it into the SD and flash that and then i'll reboot.
But on clicking "Go back" the phone rebooted
Now, i can't seem to open CWM and the phone is stuck in a loop, "once it reaches the LG logo(the logo does its shining thing 4 times), then the phone restarts" saying the phone is going to shut down due to high temperature, but the phone is perfectly cool.
What should i do ? How should i now install the custom ROM, or i'll have to install stock again ?
I don't care wht i have to do, Please help me get my phone started, as of right now i'm without a phone :/
Thanks
Harry
If you can go into the recovery then just install everything as normal. If not, try using something like the program LG provides for updating the stock ROM, it's perfect if you can't do anything with the phone.

I don't, sorry, I'm not a developer myself. One of the many that are around here may know if any program like that does exist.
is there a tool like the AIO -ToolKit to just override everything for the 610? even if the drivers do not install properly?

Have a problem, I cant start the phone i HBOOT or recovery. Have done this multiple times before and have no problems. Have flashed openfire before this, maybe something to do with that?
Really want to be able to make this work, because my battery drains from full to empty in a couple of hours, so wanting to reflash opefire or try cynagonmod to see if that could help my problems.
How do I enable this again? (have tryed to install recovery from rom manager, says success, but cant start in recovery afterall)
Have tested volume down+power, ...backbutton+power, ...and restarting the phone in bootloader and recovery, nothing happends.
Maybe the right title would be, cant start in recovery or bootloader, but you get my point anyway =)
Thinking this is maybe something that has changed from my washinmachine-misstake? (se other thread for that)?
Okay now I am frustrated! As seen here in my first post I cant go into recoverymode, bootloader etc.
Thought the problem would be my battery or SD-card. But have bought a new battery and a new sdcard. Still I cant boot into the recoverymode.
This is really strange!!
Maybe my phone got bricked with openfire or something? Its really annoying that I am stucked with this ROM and have no chance of updating or try new ROMS from now.
Someone smart out here, maybe there is another solution to try out?
PLEEEEAAASEEEE!!!
You could try installing rom manager and flashing the latest version of clockworkmod recovery from there

Have tryed that servel times! Not working, the phone starts as normal, even when the update.zip is in the root of sdcard. And cant start the phone from rom manager into recovery, not with voldown+power or from the reboot-options.
Maybe try re-rooting?

Yeah, me to! The only way to test it is if I could get a computer that already has the android bootloader interface. Or borrow another phone to install it. But dont have any friends with wildfire...doh!!
hello i got a new sony ericson off my friend and i have rooted it but now i want to install custom roms onto it but when ever i try and i follow exact steps on the guilds i just keep bricking it i have tryed it 4 times now with diffrent rom every time but still keep getting blocked can anyone tell me what im going wrong our some common reasons for people keep getting bricked ? thanks
If you have flashtool, download the Stock firmware & flash that first (kernel inclusive). Report your findings.

so u mean something like this stock right ? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1110536

Hi!
I assume you installed xRecovery on your phone.. If not, download xRecovery v001(must be 001, else it wont work). I assume ur phone is rooted too. Get a Root File Manager, copy the 3 files in the xRecovery package, mount the system as Read&Write in the corner of the File Manager, and paste the files in /system/bin ..
Now get the zip from the rom you would like (For me:GingerDXv023b).
Reboot the phone, as soon as it gets to the SonyEricsson logo, press the back button repeatedly, and it will get you to the xRecovery screen. With the volume buttons go to Install custom zip, and press the home button.. Then select Install Custom Zip from SD Card.
Install the ROM..
Don't reboot now, else you will be stuck in a bootloop.. Make a FULL WIPE..
It's a must when installing the ROM..
After the full wipe, reboot and enjoy your phone

Not quite. That's a MOD (modified ROM). If it however works for you, it's all good. If you need Stock, you can find one here: http://db.tt/oZZPbA43
Ok, i realize i have a different phone from this thread but it is close and my problems closely reflect the issues ive seen with the Galaxy S.
A little background. Im no perfect i know what im doing when it comes to rooting. I have an HTC Tbolt and rooted many of those, an older touch pro 2, and this is first time doing a samsung. I am getting the hang of ODIN (i wish everyone would just use this program instead of bouncing back and forth between heimdall and ODIn but whatever) Im liking ODIN cause it works well. I was successful at flashing a new rom into this Samsung phone. 95% of it worked, wifi i think didnt but everything else worked. While trying to fix the phones wifi somehow i have stopped the phone from booting into CMW recovery unless forced or booting into a rom. I can get into CMW but i must hold down the Vol Down button to get there, otherwise a clean basic boot takes me to the stock android system recovery screen and will not boot a rom.
I have something backwards or out of order. I am just trying to get the rom to identify the installed CMW and the installed ROM through CMW but it wont do it.
Any help would be appreciated, i dont want my GF to find out i jacked her phone lol
Which phone do you have? SGS? I can just talk about SGS+ but I guess its similiar.
Try to install CWM with Odin, normally it should replace the stock recovery (haven't heard of both running at once).
Once you have installed CWM you can install your custom ROM with CWM (look at the install instructions).
If you want to install stock ROM with Odin it will replace your CWM with stock Recovery.
Post the link of the thread/recovery you want to flash.

Its a stratosphere. Im using the root and / or stock files in the root method. I use ODIN to flash the StratCWMRecovery.tar.md5 and if i tick "reboot" then it reboots into CWM i install a rom or stock rom and it finishes. I reboot the phone and it instantly goes back to android system recovery. If you like ill make a short video to give you an idea of whats going on.
I will note that im close to making a jig but its not 100% bricked obviously. 3 button method still works (and unecessary at this point since all the phone does is go straight into the stock bootloader) and then after i install CWM i can force it in to CWM but it wont actualy boot into it.
From a programing standpoint i feel the pointers or partitions are incorrect. Its like booting a computer that has a hard drive with windows installed however getting the bios to tell it to boot from the hard drive isnt working. THats the easiest way to explain this.
One thing i want to note is the only errors i am getting are when i try to partition the SD card from CWM. I get an error saying sdparted is not found.
I am not getting a full understanding of how the root system works on this phone.
Again any help is appreciated.
Made a short video. Its uploading now. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tFZ5Adm5AdQ
So whatever i did i was able to fix. I think me being a very visual person and normally having access to all files i need or could use in a situation is always nice. Here, i didnt but i found them. Here's the link. Its obviously for stratosphere but i took about 10 minutes and let ODIN install all these files and it worked.
original posting but the link doesnt work for download
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/11183-eh2-full-factory-odin-restore/
where i downloaded it
http://www.fileswap.com/dl/t4D235pUTO/SCH-I405.EH2_rel.md5.html
Again this is for stratosphere. Since it really helped me return to stock and allow me to re root in about 15 minutes this thread should be moved but there is no stratosphere area
I dont really know where to start, or if this is fixable at all, but yesterday i tought id try to root my desire hd.actually I'm not knowledgeable in this, but i gave it a try, it looked easy. I used advanced ace hack kit for it. and i think everything went fine. then i downloaded rom manager from market, but it said i was not rooted, from there i think i started to mess everything, so i did the whole root thing again with the ace hack kit. but ended with same result. I think i then accidentally deleted eveytning on my sd card in my frustration and rebooted the phone, now it wanted me to install drivers for android 1.0 and qualcomm CDMA technologies MSM. and somehow the phone started in the new custom rom this time (cynomogen 7) i tought something must have gone wrong. so i decided to use the ace hack kit again, tought it maybe take me back to the start, but not this time. when i power up my phone it stays frozen with the htc logo, if i use the recovery mod, with the power, volume down button, with usb plugged in, it says that i need to install drivers for android 1.0 and qualcomm CDMA technologies. I dont know what to do, throw it in the garbage? and sorry for bad explanation, but thats all i got.
The only thing that works is to enter fastboot/recovery mode. i have tried factory reset in the setting there, but it dosent work. it there any way to flash a custum rom and clockworkmode from there with usb inplugged? any help at all?
PROBLEM SOLVED. how do i delete this post?
Can you flash a stock RUU?
Edit: just missed your 'solved' edit.
Can you explain what you did, there's another thread with apparently the same issue here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1810058

this thread solved my problem back to the stock rom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=26844128#post26844128
Hello my fellow XDA Members. I am stuck in a tight spot and after reading and re-reading some things the situation doesn't look very promising. I hope this is the moment that Karma shows up and I can get some help on this. Here it goes.
Specs - LG G2 D801 Variant > TWRP V2.8.3.1 > NO OS Currently
I was running Cloudy G3 Rom smoothly and got bored and decided to flash that new rom that is a 5.0 Rom all variants. Did the usual back ups and flashed it. Something happened when I flashed the rom. It went through the Aroma installer and then said "successful" but stuck in a bootloop. I tried it again and nothing happened. Then I tried to wipe everything again and started getting an E: Cannot mount (data or system I forget which as that error went away after I completely formatted data, wiped everything and reflashed Cloudy Stock. )
> Cloudy stock bootlooped and nothing is happening in TWRP. I Am using the USB OTG method of getting files on the phone and getting it charged but anytime I try to do anything (flash a rom, an older version of TWRP) it just immediately restarts TWRP and thats that. I have No OS at all.
> I tried to use one of the methods to get into download mode and flash a stock KDZ but the phone acts like it is going into DL mode (shows the little blue transition screen) but never gets into the ACTUAL download mode where the PC or flash tool can recognize it.
So in a nutshell > No OS > I can get into TWRP but it does nothing > No Download Mode > Don't want a new phone > Don't want to take it apart and try to short circuit anything if possible. LOL.
I am totally stuck here. I am done alot of work and even helped friends and family out with their devices over the years. I am just not sure if I need to consider it a done deal and get a new phone or maybe one of you guys know of something easy and obvious (please let it be the latter) I am missing. Thanks for any help you can offer. I Will be standing by.
Have you tried to reflash bootloader? If not, do that and reflash cloudy right away

I haven't thought about flashing a bootloader. How would I flash the bootloader if I can not the phone into either DL mode and or TWRP doesn't do anything either? Is a bootloader file just a flashable file like any other .zip file?

The first one I can not do as I do not have any knowledge at all of Ubuntu, Linux, or any of that. It would take forever to get a working knowledge of that software in order to get things going again. I would probably just have to either take it to a cellphone repair shop or get another phone before I could do the first link.
I have not tried the second one but it is a viable option. I was looking at it online and trying to talk myself down from having to do that. I would reallllllllly rather not have to take my phone apart if I can keep from so that's kind of what this post is all about. Just trying to see if anyone knows of ANYTHING else before I go taking apart my phone.
Can you describe more about "twrp doesnt do anything"?
Does twrp boot up?
Can u see/wipe partitions?
Can u install any rom in twrp? Does it finish?

TWRP boots and I can go into wipe, advanced wipe, and format data and it says it's successful. I can use file manager and move items back and forth from USB OTG. If I try to flash anything it just reboots TWRP immediately so I can't install any .zip files at all.
My guess is that your bootloader is damaged.
The only option i can see for you is that Ubuntu thing i shared with you. So, lets stop acting lazy and do what needs to be done. Dont scare since there is nothing to loose. LG G2 is unbrikable
Booting up ubuntu or any other linux os is so easy. And there is nothing much to learn. Trust me.
Go to ubuntu website and download their newest iso file. Burn it on dvd and boot it up. You dont have to install it, just choose "live mode" and it boots up. Just like that. Then yiu can proceed with tutorial mentioned above and it shouldnt take more than an hour from you. Its all typing some commands in terminal (remember CMD in windows!).
Just make sure to download the files mentioned in that tutorial before proceeding.

First of all calling people lazy is not nice. I'm not lazy I am trying to play it safe. I wouldn't want to brick it to the point to where I don't even have recovery and it can not even be charged any longer. I have Ubuntu on my desktop upstairs. I have used it a little. It's not that I am completely ignorant to Ubuntu I am just a total novice. Also the issue described in that post doesn't exactly match my situation. I am not in a black screen. It's more like a bootloop that I can not get out of because TWRP is not doing what it needs to do and I can not flash TWRP a ROM or get into DL mode at all. Also that post says,
"VERY IMPORTANT!!!!!!! You must use the img files that correspond to the ROM you have installed before getting the problem to avoid breaking your phone."
I don't have a rom on my phone soooo...
You didn't answer my question well. If on TWRP you can finish installing rom without any error, and you keep coming to twrp after restarts, that's another situation. Try this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2451696
But if you cant even finish install in twrp (twrp gives you errors or just restarts before giving you "successful", either you have problem in rom you try to flash or you need to build everything up from start.
That lazy thing was for encouraging you to do it.
And you cant brick your device. There is always a way on G2.
For img files: find them from last stock rom that was working on your phone.
