Hi Everyone,
I just replaced my headphone jack on my phone and while doing that I broke the ribbon for my home button. I ordered one right away to be here on Tuesday. I was having trouble turning on the phone but I fixed that. When it turns on the touch screen is not working. Do I need the home button for the touch screen to work and I will be ok once that comes or did I mess something else up?
Thanks

Hey all, I'm new to the forums but I can't wait to get my 8125 working. I bought a replacement screen on ebay and a broken 8125.. on receipt all I got was a white screen, then last night I replaced with the new screen and got the cingular logo and the windows mobile "touch anywhere to set up.." message.
Well, touching it did nothing, and the keyboard didn't work, so i opened it up again.
Somehow when I opened it up, the power switch button circuit thing detached from the mainboard (and it looks like the owner before me had actually crazy glued it on!!) .. and now the thing won't power up, won't show a charge light... nothing at all when plugged in or attached to my PC. So I hope that detached power button is the culprit. Upon further inspection I saw that yet another had detached but I can't seem to find where it landed... this one for the little button next to the slider, I don't really know what it does yet.. .
.. so I guess first step is to solder that power button back on and see what happens. Does it sound like a missing power button circuit thing would cause the unit to no longer power on at all (even when soft reset when connected to PC, which used to power it on?)
Pete
i did this. it is hell to solder on. I would say replace the phone

Argh.. well, i'll give it a go with the power switch.... do you think it will affect the phone to be missing the comm manager switch off the mainboard too... or will the phone still function without this piece soldered on?

Yes, the power on/off button being broken is the reason why you had a white screen, and only getting the splash screen after replacing the touch screen. If you're a good assembly man, I'd suggest try to solder the button back ln place or replace the device. As for the button by the volume slider, that's the comm manager button. If you can ever get to the homescreen, the comm manager icon to activate the comm manager (bluetooth, WiFi, etc. is in the system tray at the bottom of the homescreen.
It sounds to me the new screen was replaced improperly, accounting for nothing happening when you tap it.Try re-installing the replacement screen.

stupid question I just disassembled my hd2 inorder to diagnose the touch screen not working in the as it was doing the turn it on with the back button it worked now here is the problem the ribbon for the buttons broke. So what I need to know if is I boot the phone with a charger to make it turn on should the digitizer work if the buttons were the problem or should I just order new buttons and a new digitizer? the reason I as was after I booted it was I still had no touch input
Thanks,
yonu
The easy answer is:
Try to boot with a charger and see !
hello all im having a problem and wish to get some input on what the problem may be
my hd2 has been ****in up to say the least i installed a new miui rom on it after having touchscreen problems and the weird thing is i can get the touch screen to respond after holding the the green call button and the home button for one second making the flashlight turn on then holding the back and end buttons for one second waiting for the screen to turn off then turn back on
my question is does this have something to do with the kernel or power consumption it seems it might be the case but im no expert
what do you think?
Try to press once or twice the endcall (red) button. There is a common problem with the Leo's digitizer and it is located under the endcall button. So press it hard. It used to help me.
I suggest you to install button savior or any app with softkeys to preserve the physical buttons.
Greetz,
Dodi
damn that definitely helped it along
thanks
the problem still exist but at least i can use the phone
alas i think its time to move on
that sucks i really liked my phone
Not responding touch screen
Is the keypad fully connected with the touchscreen? Because my keypad flex cabel is broken, and my digitizer doesn't respond. Do i need to buy a new digitezer or just flex cabel? Can somebody help me? Thanks
i haven't checked the good thing is i have a spare digitizer but its a hassle still ill probably end up trying eventually
hi guys recently replaced my screen in the process i realised the volume button on the pcb was broke so got a replacment one, now when i press the camera app it just does not work.

Hello,
My home button (and fingerprint along) had died so I disassembled the phone to see how it's made and discovered that most likely if I wanted to replace the home button, I would have to replace the whole front panel (screen) because home button is bonded to the front panel. Is there a way to separate the home button from the screen? If yes, how is this possible? I need some advice from people who were in the same situation as me and managed to get it done correctly.
Thanks!
Bump
But where will you get another home button and how will you connect it to the screen?

I would get it on aliexpress, there are lots of people selling it. It has a connecto, that's not a problem. The only problem is separating the button from the screen.
