I've had one battery since I bought my phone in August 2015
Over the past few weeks I began noticing much less standby and screen on time as before.....
I looked for any rogue apps that could be causing the drain...
I contemplated whether it was the new v20e and f updates..
I then got two official LG batteries from am Amazon seller for $15 (out it curiosity really)
Any now my battery drain is GONE.
I didn't realize I could have battery degradation so soon.... I've used the official charger for 8 months and a certified Qualcomm quick charger for the last 2 months
Not sure... But possible that I crossed 400 charge cycles on my original battery... As I use it as my primary smartphone and primary camera (mirrorless got relegated to the box)
Maybe the marshmallow battery drain is really decreased battery capacity?
Anyone else experience anything similar?
This also makes me wonder if phones like the Nexus 6p really have a shorter service life than I thought.
I hope LG keeps trying with what is now their exclusive feature of removable batteries. Not too impressed with the friend modules so far.... But I think I'll be buying the lg360 cam asap once it's compatible with my g4.

Got the phone on May 2015. Battery life started to get worse with first MM update.
I used to get about 4-5 hours of screen-on time, now I get about 2-3 max.
Sometimes I need to recharge in the middle of the day(never happened before, even with moderately heavy use).
I'll get a new battery as well and post results, thanks for bringing up the issue OP

Same situation here. Flashed 5.1, but still have max 3h SOT.
One first charge cycle with new LG battery
Will report back tomorrow maybe
Obvious difference already
GPS seems the issue for me
Battery life was good on lollipop. After the marshmallow update, started having significant drain. Did a factory reset, was slightly better. After analyzing for a bit, noticed massive GPS use, mostly in play services. Turned off location, and now use it only as needed. Giant increase in battery life.

I have no real battery issues with MM v20d, still on the original battery from June 2015.
Had the bootloop so MB replaced 506-->601.
After flashing v20f I started to experience battery drain (Android-system), it was caused by my Fitbit charge hr bluetooth connection.
Turning off bluetooth and only turning it on when I want to sync my Fitbit stopped the Android-system wakelocks.

Yes
Back to 1% drain on wifi overnight
And 4 hrs sot
I could see the battery percentage drop every few minutes of screen on with the original battery
So more that worth the $16 I paid for 2 new batteries
I really wasn't expecting to see a difference as my initial battery is now 10 months old

Depends at which point you recharge.
ideally up to 90, back on at 40. Trying not to go below. With my 3+ yr old tab tab i've mostly followed that regime now and still can get almost 8h sot. 1500 cycles possible.
if you charge to 100 and then again at 5 & 10. Those are deep discharges which will decrease battery life sooner so around 300-500 cycles you see less battery life. (see table 2)
hey, it just might not be possible to do the former and this is why replaceable batteries are best.
This also makes me wonder if phones like the Nexus 6p really have a shorter service life than I thought.

There is a catch here, the 6P isn't the easiest of devices to service. it gets a ifixit score of 2 (!). So a battery replacement is going to be involved and cost appropriately.

Definitely and the problem gets exacerbated with quick charge. Quick charge isn't good for batteries but everybody loves it.
QC 2 tries to get as much charge as it can up to a certain point then tapers off. Its more stressful than QC3 which tries to get as much as the phone will allow.Subtle difference.
It's possible with quick, fast, turbo whatever charge that people will require to change batteries sooner than in the past.
Just update to MM yesterday. My phone is just 2 days old so I have nothing weird to report about battery. Last night, I left my phone at 40%, after 5 hours of sleep, my batt is at 39%. So I guess this is a pretty good one. I also play games for 20 minutes and got 5% drain only.
Usually the battery drain after updating to mm is caused by fast dormancy.
U have to disable it.
Go to the hidden menu, type *#546368#*815# (replace 815 with ur model number, so 812 if u have the 812 model etc)
Then go to field test>Modem settings>PDP setting>0 and sellect fast dormancy off.
Reboot phone and you should be fine
This worked for me, try before u buy a new battery
Definitely we talking about battery degradation. Same usage, same condition, disabled MLT, Fast dormancy, etc etc etc... I am not new in Android world and LG phones. This is the result after first charging of my new battery. That was impossible with the old one. Result was 3h SOT and only 15% to 20% battery left on LP with the old battery. Now i have 3h 40 min SOT and 44% battery left. Usually i have 25 to 30 min SOT from 100% to 90%. Today from 100% to 90%= 1h 12 min SOT. If this is not improvement and proof for battery degradation...
PS: This is close or equal to my initial result, when the phone was new.
Could you send me a link to that battery that you have ordered?
Sent from my LG-H815 using Tapatalk
This is original LG battery, which i bought from the store of the official LG importer in my country and unfortunately i can't provide you a link. I presume that on Ebay you can find original battery and may be cheaper than mine (25€).
G4 dual models are better than others i think , i usually get 4:30 hours SOT with wifi on and sync and one day standby on my H818N dual sim model.
This is the final result with the new battery after one charging cycle. Considering my usage and my results with the old battery, i am absolutely glad from my purchase.

I used a quick charger for only 2 out of the 10 months that I had mine.... I'd like to think the quick degradation isn't due to that

its better than i expected, but i doubt its better than sammys tests
Same here it seem way better than I expected but I haven't tested the battery life thoroughly yet but indeed it is very good.
Tomorrow I will be flying back home. I'll be in the air for about 6 hours. I have 2 movies to watch, plus I'll be playing games and will listen to music. I am planning not to charge my tab until I get home. Let's see how it goes. I will update.
Being that my battery use is ~80% display, i should probably consider turning down the brightness. Still, I have been playing with it here and there throught the day (about 7 hours away from the charger now) and the battery level is still 75%
Somebody needs to find a way to mod the autobrightness to have a few options...I like the feature, but it is just a bit too dim for me.

no. it just depends on what your doing. Wifi signal strength, Cell radio strength. the position of the moon and sun, etc.
BTW, battery life does not decrease linearly. so the numbers in that post are ridiculous.
the discharge curve will look something similar to this in most cases

(red line, also note phones cut off the extreme ends of the scale with regards to voltage to promote cell life)
it takes a few days for the battery (more specifically the charging circuitry) to get into a 'groove' when it comes to properly charging the battery and displaying the correct percentage.
if you want to know more about the Batteries in our phones and Tablets look at RCcar and RC plane sites. they use the same batteries as phones do so pretty much everything you learn there will apply here (except our phones don't draw 20+amps! )

Well, I understand you saying here. But 10% (90% to 80%) per hour for reading ebook only is far away from having a good battery at 4000mah. I will give it a few more days to check.

That's 10 hours at that usage, give or take, and right around what I'm seeing, 10% per hour of actual usage as an ebook, about 2-5% per hour if it's just sitting there connected, and about 15-20%/hour with heavy surfing or game playing.
I expect if I'm careful and keep the connectivity to a bare minimum, I can stretch 12 hours out of it when travelling.
Oh, and everyone...let the battery run down to zero at least once, preferably twice. We're talking total discharge to the point the phone turns itself off, then charge to 100%. This doesn't hurt or help the battery, but it does help make the actual battery monitoring more accurate.
honestly im not too impressed with the battery. i think the standby time sucks too. the iPad doesnt do a lot of things right, but the one thing it seems to do is to last for days. i realize the battery is close to twice as big but i was just use to that. i mean sure i dont use my ipad anymore, but it seems to last forever. anway, when i first got my tab, i managed to drain it in less than 6 hours. that was right out of the box (so it proly wasnt full all the way, but close to it). i was mad when that happened. that was with the brightness on auto and everything turned off except wifi. i could be just expecting too much. i thought conditioning the battery would be good for it. so i let it die all the way and recharged it to full. today, i wouldnt say i used the tablet like i usually would (i am a HEAVY user) and its been less than 12 hours and its already at 21%. this time it was running on 3G and brightness on low (not all the way, but about 30% or so). i dont even set the brightness to the highest cuz its too bright, auto seems to work the best. maybe im just being a tough critic. i mean my nexus only lasts like 5 hours now a days cuz i just use it too much. but im so use to just picking up another battery and moving along.
been having a good battery life after draining the battery to 3% twice then charging it to full again and now it almost last me 2 days better than my old nexus one using it primarily for comic book reading and bluetooth stereo music almost 6hrs. per day and a little gaming of angry birds and a little video and youtube + browsing calling and texting really don't like games too much
@croak
i've read a forum sometime ago that it's bad to drain li-ion to 0% so i think its better to drain it to near zero before charging again as i've read it may damage the cells if you drain it to 0%
how often should we condition the battery? (let it drain near 0 and charge up)

Doesn't hurt a lithium ion battery much at all, it's just another charge cycle.
But if you don't go down to the point that the device shuts off at least once, your battery meter can and often will be off by a good bit. There's never any confirmation. When yours was reading 3%, it might have actually been 8%, or it may have been 1% or less, but until you zero it out, you'll never know, and neither will the device. It'll still know when it's at 100%, but any reading below that can be inaccurate.
And keep in mind, this is NOT zero charge, it is not completely drained (the device does the auto-shutdown specifically to AVOID a complete drain).

Lithium Ion batteries don't need to be conditioned. But if you want to calibrate the battery meter, you'll need to do it at least once.
Using my Tab as a 3rd device, with my 1st being a HTC Evo and my 2nd being a Motorola i890, i am very impressed with the battery. Even treating my 1st and 2nd devices as red-headed step children and my Tab being in my hands more then them, my battery is yet to go below 50% in a day, the week i have had it. Even with checking 7 different email accounts every 5 min. Also, my Tab is on Wifi a majority of the day, which i would think puts more of a drain on the battery.
i was a little worried when i found out that the battery was not accessable to be able to swap it out at some point of the day. I have (6) batteries for my Evo, 2 red and 4 blacks. Before my tab, if my evo didnt touch a charger during the day, i would use atleast 4 of those batteries during the day. Yea, the size difference between the Evo and Tab battery is different, so i figured i wouldnt need 5 more Tab batteries, but atleast 1 or 2 extra.
My only complaint with regards to Power/Charging is the length of the USB Charge/Data cable. It is super short. i bought a 6ft extention @ Staples for about $5!
The fresh Tab battery is only spoiling us and will get worse as time goes by. I have been looking for other options in the mean time. Here are a few options i found:
ZAGGsparq 4000 mAh $90 @ fommy
Mophie - Juice Pack Powerstation 3600 mAh $99 @ BestBuy
ClearMax External Battery Pack 5000 mAh $39 @ eBay (questionable)
eGear UB-181 1800 mAh $19 @ eBay
eGear S220 (3-way charge: Solar,ac&usb) 2200 mAh $39 @ eBay
Yoobao YB-602 Power Bank (White or Black) 4800mAh $49 @ eBay
Personally, i think i am going with the Yoobao or Mophie or ZAGG.
***EDIT***
the ZAGGsparq is 6000 mAh, NOT 4000 like i stated above...
Yoobao has only 800 mA of output, too few !
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA App
The ZAGG has 2 x 1000 mAh. i wonder what the output is @ 1? I doubt very much that it is 1 x 2000 mAh...
Im impress with the batterry , way much better than my Ipad that I just sold ...
Has anyone seen awesome battery life with this thing or is it just me!? It's been off the charger for 4h20m and the battery is as 87%. wifi off, gps off, bluetooth off, sync ON. just text messaging all day, maybe 20 texts total (slow day today). little bit of facebook, little bit of email, thats about it, so i didn't really do much with the battery but even so with this kind of use my evo would probably be down to around 70%.
battery indicator pro says the display is responsible for 64% of the power drain and cell standby is only 12%, whereas my evo usually had around 50% cell standby and display was only like 8%. was the evo just really bad at holding a signal or what? my display is at middle brightness, if you use the power control widget.
can anyone else tell me how much % their display uses? and what their battery life is like?
after typing this post it's only dropped 1%. word.
Personally, I don't have much of a basis for comparison. I just got my Shift on an upgrade from an aging Samsung feature phone. I've heard all about the horrid battery life on the Evo. My brother has one and can't get a full day of use.
I was out with a real estate agent looking at houses for 6 hours yesterday. We used the GPS a little bit. I was checking NFL playoff scores every hour or so. I was also texting/emailing lightly. 4G was off. By the evening when I put it back on the charger it was still in the green. I didn't look at the power meter specifics... wish I did.
And today I'm just about to leave the office right now. I'm at 8 hrs, 59 min since unplugged with 6/10 green battery bars. (Hey... how do I get the exact percentage? Thanks!)
Display is 62% of my usage (It's set to Auto-brightness). Android system is next at 20%... Light email/texting use all day long at work. Played games for 30 minutes during lunch. Downloaded some new apps (using 4G). Wi-Fi and GPS off all day.
Overall it's a little better than I expected. But I know I haven't really had a heavy day of use yet.
Battery Indicator Pro is a great app that runs in your menubar and displays the percentage for you.
glad we're on the same page with the display, though
I almostmreturned the phone. My cycles were:
1st 8+ hours
2nd 4 hours
3rd 2 hours
Did a factory reset on the phone and it has started to turn around.
4th 9:40 min and at 30% when on the charger
5th 10:46 and still going. Battery is at 30%
I've recharged twice since I got it on Saturday. This seems great, coming from the sprint hero
Exactly. My hero sucked. I used my phone lightly and had it without a charge for over 24 hours. Did some playing around setting it up and then some light texting, emailing, and 4g usage. Then turned off 4g. Amazing.

This isn't your dream phone, it's the one after that. You gotta take it out and play with it more!
I've had to charge it twice a day since the sixth, battery life has been terrible.
I have all the stuff disabled, it just seems to drain even when nothing is running.
I did have an issue with terrible signal on the first day, once I did ##DATA# it fixed it, but my battery life is sucking it up badly.
Sent from my bathroom, with toilet paper.
Just got my wife a shift earlier today and ran it down from the half life that came with the battery in about...6 hours. That was with near constant use, the screen on max, wifi, and sync. Plus GPS on for awhile too. Compared to my epic which with similar use can go...maybe 6 hours from full? It depends. I'll be comparing her battery usage to mine over time and I'll post after she gets some use from a full charge. Under normal usage I can get up to 28 hours from my Epic so people reporting horrible battery life must be doing something wrong or have a defective battery. I fully expect her to get a couple days life out of each of her charges though she'll probably throw it on the charger every night.
anyone have an explanation of why the screen is the largest amount of usage under battery stats? yesterday was an average day for me and the display was something like 50%. on my Evo cell standby was always the highest and the display was down around 8 or 10%
edit: this morning the phone has been unplugged for an hour and a half and cell standby is 50% and the display is 11%... *scratches head*
I just switched to Sprint a couple days ago and got an EVO 4G; I am really unhappy with the battery life and though I got them to give me an extended battery for free it still seems like it's dying very quickly. I am a heavy data user and it's driving me crazy; does anyone have any experience going from the EVO 4G to the Shift and, if so, what are your thoughts, particularly in regards to battery life? Is it worth the loss of size and cameras?
i went from the evo to the shift (30 day swap deal) and i haven't even looked back. the battery life is STELLAR as far as i'm concerned. the evo sucked down power like nobody's business. i'm sure if you got an extended battery for the shift it would last you 2 days at least.
All I gotta say is my extended battery experience is amazing. I get about 36 hours out of my evo. Yea it looks a little fugly now but fck it I can abuse it as much as I want too with battery to spare.

I just got the extended battery and haven't charged it overnight yet, but so fast I am very concerned that it is not living up to expectations. However I won't make any quick judgments until I've seen how it does over a couple days.
My Hero got better battery life.
Sent from my PG06100 using XDA App
Typical use for me is pulling the phone off the charger at 5am, light to moderate use throughout the day (texting, facebook/twitter, apps updating ~2-4 hours, etc) and then putting back on the charger at 9pm.
I upgraded from the Hero. The Hero was rooted and running AOSP w/ modified kernel and collin's battery tweak. Battery life was impressive, but performance was an issue. I could routinely get 30+ hours battery life with the type of use listed above (battery was usually 50% or more when I'd put it back on the charger).
With the Shift, battery life is surprisingly good. For some reason I lose ~10% within the first hour, but after that, it seems to settle down and by the end of the day I'm still at ~30% (with the type of use listed above).
Based on what was possible with the custom ROM's and kernel tweaks for the Hero, I'm excited to see what the community can do with the Shift once we get root.
That first 10% drop seems normal for the new HTC phones. I know the Evo does the same thing. Just the way they're charging the batteries

I found this article helpful in understanding the ~10% dropoff when first off the charger.
At what setting do you all have your screen brightness set? Do you use the auto-brightness option. I find consistently that the overwhelming majority of battery use (according to that screen in the settings) is from the display.

I have mine set at 20% and it still looks bright to me.
Hello All,
I'm in need of advice if this is down to battery calibration or I have a faulty battery.
I got a replacement Nexus 4 3 days ago and I have been using it as normal. But I have noticed something strange going on with it.
I charged my phone to 100% and put my phone into airplane mode overnight, as I did with my Galaxy Nexus (It saves battery and I have a house phone for emergencies if somebody wants to contact me). I wake up the next morning around 9 hours later, I lose 1% battery which is normal, but when I use the phone for, say, 20 seconds, the battery instantly drains down to 95%. When I turn the screen off, and leave it until I get into work. I get into work 30 minutes later, turn the screen on and use it for a further 40-50 seconds, the battery then goes down to 92%, and the same thing goes throughout the day. I'm currently at 77% which only 12mins screen on time.
Would this be down to calibration? I haven't actually calibrated the battery and I rooted and flashed a custom ROM on the first day.
I had similar issue on my old, broken Nexus 4 so its not a coincidence.
Any help is appreciated.

I wouldn't worry about it. It's common with new phones (and new ROMs mind you) for the battery life reading to be a bit weird. Ultimately you'll still get the same battery life as normal, it's just the reading that will take a little time to become accurate as it calibrates itself.
Try Batterycalibration:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nema.batterycalibration
When I first got an extended battery for my old Xperia X10 I would often see the battery life *apparently* going up after going down, without actually charging.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nema.batterycalibration
When I first got an extended battery for my old Xperia X10 I would often see the battery life *apparently* going up after going down, without actually charging.

Thanks for this. I'll check it out.
Reminds me about HTC Sensation. It behaved so strangely with the battery readings. Jumped many percentages at once, or stayed at 100% for a while. Also after rebooting, the reading might have been quite different each reboot.
I truly, deeply, did NOT like it. It was horrible to keep track of the real juice level the battery had.
So I wonder if anyone else is seeing this behavior?
weird im getting 2 days usage with average use im really happy with the phone and battery

Same with me when I had a sensation. It would also randomly turn off.

Hello All,
I'm in need of advice if this is down to battery calibration or I have a faulty battery.

I just thought its normal, for the first couple cycles, and since I flash a rom quite often was hard to pinpoint any of my battery drain problems, eventually though I found that my battery drain issues, were from the CPU not switching back to the 384mhz slot properly, set my min cpu speed with voltage control and now my drain issues are fixed, and I dont have those haywire readings.

Calibrating the battery with that app does nothing. The reason you see the battery graph go up without charging after usage is because the graph is more of an "estimate". If you are using it extremely heavily for a long period of time it will give an "estimate" of where it is and then when you stop using it, it will realize it is no longer under load and appear to "recharge".

haha nope only have it in 3G if ii used 2G and juicedefender i could probably get 2.5 days out of it then, all i did was 5 complete charges and discharges when i got the phone and only use wall charger not USB charge
How many hours do you end up getting out of it before it dies? And what settings do you get out of that?
I don't pay attention to my battery every few minutes, but look at what I get out of a whole day. Depending on usage, I get 2% to 8% drain per hour. On average, it's closer to 6%. Hope that helps.

How do you get it down to 1%? Mine always shuts off when it's about 3% and doesn't let me keep it on.
Just power it back on after shutdown. I get quite about more juice out of it.
BTW, noticed that it uses far less power over the weekend, when at home and constantly on WiFi. I have a feeling the signal amplifier is not very efficient.

This thread will be for battery discussion related to the One X. At this point we're only speculating, but it will also be a great place to post battery test results from reviews, your own battery life results, and general discussion about improving battery life.
I started this thread because I'm interested in the One X, but assuming that with 80% the battery capacity of my OnePlus One (2,525 vs. 3,100mAh), the OnePlus X will probably have ~20% less battery performance. It will help that the One X has an AMOLED screen vs. LED, so dark pixels are not illuminated, and it's screen is smaller, thus saving some energy. Maybe we'll get 85% of the OnePlus One's battery performance
Just to start a little speculation before the reviews begin rolling in, there are two flagship devices from 2013/2014 that are somewhat comparable (~5" screen, 2,x00mAh battery, SnapDragon 80x SoC):
Google Nexus 5 w/2,300 mAh battery
Samsung Galaxy S5 w/2,800 mAh battery
HTC One M8 w/2,600 mAh battery
Just picking one review site's battery test results (it doesn't matter which one--almost none of them reflect actual user experience accurately), the S5 gets 7h 38 min, One M8 7h 12 min and the Nexus 5 4h 50 min. That's a huge range, but I think it's reasonable to expect the One X to average them since it's battery size is closer to the One NexusM8 and Nexus 5, but it has an AMOLED screen like the S5--so around 6 hrs 30min by Phone Arena's test regiment. The OnePlus One did 8hr 5min by Phone Arena's regiment, so ~80% of that would be 6hr 24min for the One X.
If my speculation is reasonable (iffy at best ), then the One X should have some pretty decent battery life for a 5" device.
Enough speculation for now. Waiting for the reviews to start coming in.
It has AMOLED display, 5" instead of 5.5" screen, a slightly underclocked version of the CPU used in OnePlus One, and when it gets Android 6.0 there are tons of battery related optimizations, I don't think there is reason to be worried...
Also with underclocking CPU and GPU with combination of undervolting will give you a great battery life. Amoled display won't illuminate dark pixels and that's also a big plus over here. With OPO i get around 8h of SOT it 2 days of moderate usage.. messaging, music and that's it mostly. OneX will be same as OPO i think. Smaller screen, new android, kernel modifyfing and you'll be able to get aroung 7-8h of SOT I'm sure
This is the same SoC Qualcomm MSM8974AB that has been used by htc with M8 and Sony in it's Xperia Z2 with 2600 and 3200 mAh battery respectively. as I'm currently suffering low battery backup with Galaxy S6, I'm bit skeptical whether to go with one X or not. If one X manage to reach minimum 4 hrs. SOT I will buy this phone as I already received the invitation.

SOT is extremely variable depending upon personal usage habits. I don't know how you could possibly find out if you would get 4 hrs with your usage habits before having the device. Maybe find somebody with an X and identical usage habits to you?
Incidentally, the Phone Arena battery test is done with the screen on, and they're getting 6-7 hrs out of similar devices.
We measure battery life by running a custom web-script, designed to replicate the power consumption of typical real-life usage. All devices that go through the test have their displays set at 200-nit brightness.

I live in Rome, so I'll have the chance to buy a OP X the next 11th November event but the battery is the only thing that is stopping me at the moment. I come from a ridiculous Galaxy Nexus battery life and I'd love to have a real long battery life finally. I was interested in the ZUK Z1 for this reason but I'm kind of used to the AMOLED technology and I don't want to go bigger than 5.2" for the display. Please guys post anything you know about the battery life even if iI'm afraid it will be just average and nothing special. 2500ish battery is not enough nowadays.

I have nexus 4 and its sot is from 3:40 to 4+h. It has 2100mah battery.
It is enough for me to last a day.
Just hope that custom roms will be available.
That will let me to adjust some settings.
Just had a conversation with the chat team, here is the conversation.
19.54.41 GMT - Client said : I am also a bit concerned abou thr battery on the oneplus x, it seems a bit small. Are there any official numbers on how long the device csn hold charge. Screen on time, etc.
19.57.04 GMT - Operator said : The device has 2,525 mAh LiPo battery. Pretty much it'll be good for one day. It is normal for smartphones that has LiPo battery. Overall, it'll just depend on the usage of the device, so to lessen the battery usage, one of the best way is to reduce the brightness of the device and to force close all apps that are running.

Yeah. I will wait for proper kernel then uv, uc and make gaming profile shortcuts with tasker then i will get battery and performance when i need it.
If manufactures would be smart they would make profiles available in the statusbar. Just simple battery saving, normal and performance tabs.
Also wishing that the alert slider can be customized. Just realized that it woulf be awesome if the alert slider could handle performance profile.
More than 8 hours 1080p video playback
Hi all,
the german online mag Golem.de states in his review:
- more than 8 hours continuous 1080p video playback with 1 battery charge (for comparison: ZUK Z1 made 9 hours with 4100mAh in same test)
- gets easily over 1 day usage
First day use!
Am i the only one getting such a bad battery life?? Or should i wait to test it again after a few more days??

Try sleeping in a little later. Getting up before 5AM is probably what's killing your battery
interested in getting the device but would like to see the performance of the phone in real life ... battery life would also tell its capabilities
According to this test, the battery life is not bad. But I don't know this site, and i'm not sure it could be trust.

I'm having an serious issue as my op5 got completely drained and no longer taking charge. It's stuck at 50% and wouldn't charge more or drain less. I have to use it plugging through the charger. If i unplug the charger phone gets turned off.
And its showing "Battery temperature is too low" while off. Though i tried to warm it up even though it isn't taking charge.
I think the problem is with the battery. So anyone replaced their battery yet? Where did you buy them? If you are using third party batteries how are they holding up?
Thank you.

This is some more information for you https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-5/help/device-temperature-low-charge-oneplus-5-t3885267
my battery hold the power very well, but I did not use the dashcharge, nor charge it when not needed.
Time, number of charge, heat will decrease lithium based battery life very fast. Its chemical.
Also keeping it at 100% all the time (overnight charge) will accelerate oxidation (voltage proportional).
The best way to get good battery life over time, is to understand how it works. https://batteryuniversity.com/learn/article/charging_lithium_ion_batteries
When mine will get around 4h sot, I'll consider PolarCell, from my researches, it seems the only company who do legit OnePLus battery.
http://www.polarcell.de/english.html
https://www.ebay.ca/itm/PolarCell-B...rentrq:ba6793d71690ab4cafa44cfbffffa517|iid:1
I replaced mine with an OEM one from eBay about 6 months ago. Old one was working okay but was down to 83% health according to accubattery. I replaced it at the same time as my charging port which would no longer fast charge or file transfer.
The replacement went well other than one antenna cable I couldn't get snapped on, turns out to be for the second sim card slot so now I'm back to carrying a work phone through the day plus my phone until I can take it apart again and make another attempt.
The new battery was actually a month older than my original battery according to the date code. It only had 93% battery health when I first installed it. Down to 92% now.

I'm questioning how this % 's working...
My phone did a 8 sot, and is said 85% battery health.
Wife's OP3 (same kernel, Franco), got a cheap ebay battery, she got 2-3h SOT, phone shutdown @20% battery, and the app said 1700 mhA , and 81% health...
Both SOT were made by watching youtube video at home, vanced youtube apk.
I can't really say whether it was accurate or not. My battery life seemed like it stayed consistently good over the year and a half, I assumed maybe the updates actually helped battery life offsetting the degradation of the battery. I wouldn't have changed it yet if I didn't have to take it apart and do the charging port anyway.
I've never had a battery life problem with the phone with the original or replacement battery. My routine varies by way too much to be able to compare screen on time from one charge to the next. If I read a lot on Google Play books with black mode I could probably get over 12 hour screen on time. YouTube videos likely 8 hours. Normal mixed use anywhere between 4 hours to 7 hours screen on time. I never have to worry about it lasting a day. I'm at lunch break and I'm at 92%. The first 10% usually seems to go fastest too.

its a op app. My % numbers come from this app.
Its not working like I said. Dead battery from ebay and it was @ 81%
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-5/themes/app-oneplus-diagnostic-t3876426
I get 93% with the OnePlus app, 92 last time I checked with accubattery (91 the previous time). I have since uninstalled accubattery as I only use it occasionally to check battery health.
Update: My mechanic tried various methods like changing the IC and tried various batterys but none of them worked. Now looking for original oneplus battery but theres no OP service center in our country.
so here's the review to date of the Polarcell on my wife's op3 :
tl;dr : so far so good, almost as per OEM specs !
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3t/accessories/replacement-batteries-one-t3794934/page4
Quick Update: My first mechanic was unable to fix the phone. Then I took the phone to another mechanic. As I didn't get to manage oneplus battery I was quite hopeless about the phone would fix at all. But the second mechanic fixed my phone within a day!
He said the problem was in the charging port not in the battery. And he changed the port. Thus my phone came to life again. Will test the dash charging once I get to home. Though it doesn't matter to me anymore as long as it takes charge from any source.
Hope it helps
Battery Bug
Once my battery hits 55% and lower it starts to freeze up and reboot. It is less frequent if I turn the timeout to 10 or more minutes but that just drains it faster. Do you guys think my OP5 battery is faulty? It is only a month old and has had the problem of random freezes and reboots since I first did the initial setup buying it from Amazon.

Yes. From initial set up before official OP5 system OTA, with crDroid after updating to 9.0.4, then AICP, and LineageOS 16. After I flashed stock 9.0.4 and ran a battery drainer it froze and rebooted less. It could be coincidence but it may be my battery and that my phone wasn't new from Amazon but a refurbished unit haha. I'm almost thinking of downgrading to OTA 5.1.7 to see if it is a Pie issue bug.

Care for a battery change? The issue might be with the battery...

My battery was fine around 86% but i did ordered one a few months ago.
It was a LOSONCOER which claimed to be around 3800mah.I thought it was a scam but it was cheap and it should be at least 3300 if not 3800mah.
I installed it 4 days ago and the results amazed me.IT is 3800mah and more. Accubattery says 4000mah but i also see it in the SOT.
Its much better. No temperature sensor though. It keeps saying 25.1 Celsius.
