Just wanted to know if anyone has sold an S7/edge with knox tripped. I'm in the UK and considering getting an S7 Edge. I just want to know if I will lose resale value next year when I sell the device ( I always sell devices after a year and move on to the latest).
Depends on you!
If u r honest and clearly state no warranty while selling it, it probably will go for little less compared to devices with warranty.
If u r a a hole and don't mention it, it can go either way.
1. the buyer never gets in a situation where he has to claim warranty. and u r fine.
2. something happens to the device, he goes to Samsung and they refuse to repair it because of the tripped knox counter. He goes mad and comes to ur flat beats the **** out of u and rapes ur girlfriend.
hope this answers ur question.

I have sold many phones with Knox tripped - never been an issue - no one ever even asked. I sold - Note 2, Note 3, Note 4, Note 5, S4, S5, S6 - never had an issue and got a very reasonable price for the phones when I sold them.
You won't get retail for a used phone but if the phone is in good condition - you shouldn't have trouble selling it. There are a lot of TMOBILE Users who are frustrated because the G935T has a locked bootloader - and many others looking to buy a great phone at less than retail price - you shouldn't have any issues\ as long as you are realistic about the price you sell it for.
I should add that I don't think KNOX was there until the S4 - but all of my phones were rooted when I sold them - so technically they broke warrenty - and I still didn't have an issue selling them - and I was very upfront about them being rooted.

Lol I spoke to Samsung UK and they said if the device has a hardware defect they'll fix the phone even if Knox has been tripped. Just cannot return the phone rooted and must be within its 2 year warranty period. Yeah I was not expecting to sell the phone at retail cost after a year. Just wanted to know if resell value went down even more i.e. Used S7 after a year = £300. Used S7 after a year with Knox tripped = £230.

I wonder if this applies to Germany as well I mean if this would be a official statement and they follow through there would be no more reason not to root except Samsung Pay which will never make it's way here anyway.

Best to talk to Samsung directly yourself, whether it be on the phone or Live Chat. With Live Chat at least, you can get a transcript (I had it sent to my email address). Still not sure if I am even going to get the Edge, but knowing I can at least root, without voiding the warranty helps.

OnePlus One and an iPhone 6 I hardly touch (Not an iOS fan but it was free). It is either the Edge or the HTC 10.
I don't like touchwiz really or the "jank and stutter" associated with it. I don't like that the HTC 10 storage is slow. I don't like how the edge oversharpens photos. I don't like how the HTC 10 photos are too soft and overexposed. I don't like that rooting the edge will remove a feature forever. I like the HTC 10 because the bootloader is unlockable from the get go. I am worried about the edge headphone port performance compared to the HTC 10 and it's 1W headphone amp. I love AMOLED, not the biggest LCD fan. I can get both for roughly the same price. I love the edge's trend of having great battery life.I hate Samsung's update policy for new android versions. HTC's has been much better. I am not sure if losing Samsung Pay and Knox tripped will kill resale value. HTC 10 won't lose resale value whether or not I root it. Bootloader can be relocked in the UK.
So yeah, this is my problem lol. There are pro's and cons to each and I have no idea who to give my money to.
You can sell but .u ll have to give it at a lower price

Mate go for the S7 edge! there is honestly no reason to get the ****ty HTC 10.
One of the most important things on a Smartphone is the screen because that's what ur eyes see and u interact all day! And the Screen on the S7 edge is the Best Screen by far on any device. That's a fact and there is simply no denying it. and if someone says "uhhh the colors are to vibrant" I'm gonna punch him. there r 3 different profiles and one adaptive mode. I hate that people startet this bull bull and for years it's stuck in people heads and everytime someone will mention it ugh.....
Design is the best. The edge version looks like something from the future. I owned a S6 edge and now the s7 edge and I'm still not over the fact how beautiful it is.
Water and Dust Proof.
touchwiz. u know that touchwiz is just a simple launcher apk? u can delete it. No matter which device, I would always use nova. So thats it! you got rid of. other samsung app like phone, massages. setting, clock ,calculator and so on do their job very good.
great battery life. which should be very important to anyone.
headphone out quality "issue". I'm mean these people don't know what they r talking about. most of them stream their music or even download it from youtube!!! I wouldn't take those claims serious honestly. Most of them don't know anything about sound and use those bundle in headphones and think loudness and bass equals quality. If you take sound seriously and own a pair of good over 1.000€ headphones you shouldn't use ur smartphone anyway. For everyone else I would say the sound quality is good.
update policy. If u root and getting frequent updates r important to u you should learn how to update the base firmware manually. samsung releases every month updates just not for ur region. Android N who knows when it comes but usually they don't bring thinks with them that u can't live without. Samsung is also getting quicker with those.
Also the community and ports! the note 3 runs a S7 edge port! so you can expect running S9 or S10 software on S7 which should also be considered imo.
Samsung Pay and Knox. Yeah u live in the uk and it's available or going to be.... idk, resale value probably will be effected and u won't be able to use samsung pay... but atleast u have the option. HTC doesn't offer mobile payments anyway so not a big difference there.
Best camera. very very fast to launch to focus. sharp images look goooooooood.
If u end u buying one get the S7 edge.

2. If someone has already did this, what is perdonal experience? Whats improvement and is this upgrading really proved a good decision?

I'd never do that, because it's likely that the Note 3 will ship with Knox bootloader and no way to get rid of it. If all you plan to do is use the device as is, out of the box, then it's probably not an issue, but if that's the case, why are you here?
the note series are nice but theyre too big for me
Yes big size is also a concern for me too.
Knox is not an issue for me as I also not rooted s4 yet. Samsung has also begun ota updates of s4 which includes knox (discussed in many threads on xda)
Despite of changing model, any other feature of note 3 which one of us should think to upgrade s4 to note 3?
Sent from my GT-I9500 using Tapatalk 4
I rather upgrade to a Nexus 5 than a Note 3. I am not a fan of touchwiz and I don't need a s-pen for my phone. The size of Note 3 is too huge for me.
i feel note series is are very big my hands pained while talking on note 2.Not going for note again
I have an S4 now, but imo, the Note 2 was the best android device I've ever had (and I consider it the best device right now). The S4 kind of disappointed me, so I'll be trying the Z1 when it's available where I live.

I bought a Note 3 yesterday, gotta wait for delivery but I'm not gonna just throw away a good phone either. Knox is a worry but then the S4 is gonna get these new bootloaders sooner or later, especially if you ewant to update the firmware to the latest...
Samsung need to listen to these forums as a large amount of their custom is generated by us. Word of mouth is a powerful selling tool and to be honest I'm starting to think it might not be a good idea to upsell this brand if they go the way of Apple...
There have been a lot of put out people in the UK where the Note 3 seems to come with a region lock (even after they activate with regional sim it won't accept another country sim card), now sorted by Chainfire but requiring root thus giving you warranty void from Knox...
Thankfully I live in Australia. No region lock but that's a trade off with expense....
Here is another rumour. Galaxy S 5 may be launched in January 2014

I will probably not go with Note3 or S5. Because of many things I am hearing in last couple of months.
Samsung devices are great and I love my S4 but I could not use my phone in fear that Samsung will not respect warranty. Samsung is finding many different/new ways to void our warranty in flagship phones.
I personally do not care much for warranty for damages that I am responsible for. But if there is a manufacturing defect then I expect them to offer warranty regardless of rooted phone or not.

You are wrong, you have regional lock. My s4 at the beginning works fine with my irish sim card but after ugraded by OTA stopped working. I asked Samsung what is going on and I have been told that Samsung gives warranty only for Australia and Oceania Region warranty. It is my last Samsung mobile.
Knox is past. See this link

Not specifically HTC but choose any other manufacturer. They are doing better job than Samsung to keep their customers. Why does it has to be a company on top to start acting like a**hole and treat their customers like sh*t.
For a normal user like me, I don't understand what is the real benefit of having a flash counter in our phones or efuse or region lock. But these are pretty good excuses for Samsung to void our warranties. After going through faulty/broken AMOLED screen topic, I am afraid to put my S4 in jeans pocket. Usually I keep my phones in front jeans pocket (all previous phones) but now if I mistakenly put my S4 in pocket out of force of habit, I am like oh sh*t, I put phone in pocket again.
They should invest the time and money on quality control and better products, then such silly tricks.
Although I am hearing good things about Note 3 and S5, I am strongly considering to buy Nexus 5, Oppo or some other Chinese manufacturer.

Don't get me wrong, I am not happy with Samsung built quality as well, it is really not acceptable to use cheap plastic on a "flagship" phone. The glass seems too fragile and I am getting paranoid as well when the phone is in my pocket. Yeah, about the efuse? Looks like they are copying Motorola now.
Thanks guys for your feed back.

You are mistaken about HTC. I have had my T-MOB HTC ONE-S since it came out over a year ago with no problems. It also runs the UI just as fast as the S4. Only way to notice a difference between YOUR 4S and my phone is in screen res and size, if you are a hardcore gamer then the ram, Metal vs. plastic, 8mp better camer UI vs 13mp. Beats audio vs. no audio enhancement. Sd card slot or no slot. Every thing is going cloud bassed so sd cards dont really mean nothing any more. So really the difference is minimal. Now since I have modded my phone its on par with your S4. I have a S4 its UI is built for a blind grandma I swear if you dont put a rom in it and touchwiz is flat out ugly an damn near useless. I let my mom use my S4. My Htc one S is what I carry Its the ideal size and thinness. Its all about the UI and size for most. Id pick a Sony Xperia z over any Samsung but I already got the stupid S4 Now for customer service call Dell, Motorola or Sprint then you will think different about Htc service. lol :victory:

Nicely Worded
Even though, there is no root for the device yet.. Does anyone regret purchasing their note 4?
If we never get root I might....
I've never rooted an android so I really don't know what it's capable of. But I'm very happy with my Note 4
None here!
Love the screen and fast charging - ive got unlimited and hotspot though and I dont pay for the phone or plan, so I'm kind of a shoe-in for being perfectly happy.
I'm neutral. My note 3 was worth $360 when I sold it. I paid full retail, minus $7360, minus the incoming $200 rebate, thus I'm out $200 after taxes and what not. However, I could sell this Note 4 tomorrow for $600, thus I'm holding $400, a $40 increase. So with my math, the phone was free.
Due to that, I don't regret it yet, but I sure do miss root.
if I don't get root, I'll regret and either sell this to downgrade to an s5, or downgrade to an international. both downgrades will cost me a lot out of pocket..

Why not just get the dev version?
I'm starting to regret my note 4 purchase, in fact I'm taking it back Friday, probably gonna go with the LG g3 that's what I was gonna get but was talked out of it. I like the note 4 but why all of this Knox crap. To much security for me, screw you verizon! Smart phones are fun but there actually a tool so be carefull.
A bit, only because of not having root. Having come from a T-Mobile note 2, Really annoyed at how locked down Verizon is.
I just switched from tmobile to Verizon, that was a good move cause verizon coverage and reliability is so much better. When I switched I was planning to buy the note 3 cause it was rootable but no one had it in Stock so I bought the note 4. No regrets at all but I will most likely sell the retail version to get the developer edition if root is not achieved soon.
Only a couple things that bother me because of lack of root, not being able to use Titanium and not being able to replace the God awful current version of Google Maps with version 6. The latter was remedied with the discovery of Waze so for now I am good on that front.
Other than that, nope, I LOVE the Note 4 and am good to go for a while.
I have not even used mine much yet. I got it on launch day, but with no root it's just collecting dust right now.
I'm still on my Note 3 with Jasmine rom most of the time. I'm starting to seriously think of selling off my Note 4 and getting the dev edition.

Well if you're really into custom roms which the note 4 obviously doesn't have then you may have a problem. But i had the g3.. The screen just wasn't up to par, extremely poor brightness (try using it in a well lit room or worst outside) the lag caused by the thermal throttling to keep the display from overheating the phone, it may sound like I'm bashing the g3 I'm not but it's just note good as the note in my opinion. It does have root though so Hey that might be the better choice for you.

Aren't you afraid that you'll open it and it will end up being defective? After 14 days, you're stuck with it. I already had to return one defective phone.
By still having unlimited data makes me want root really badly, but I am sure it will be here sooner or later. One thing I do have a thing about is the home button. Call me OCD, but man... it feels like I am double clicking all the time when I am pressing it. Anyone else having the same problem?
Remember when you came to XDA everyday and there was always something new for your phone?
What is going on? We only have two roms for a phone thats been out for a year?
You want constent support from the development community, follow the sheep and buy a highly advertised device like the Note 4 or go pure Android with Nexus.
The Note Edge was never highly advertised, nor did anyone really know how using the edge would be like. So the majority of the public got a Note 4 over the Note Edge, because the heard about the phone more.
Or
You could learn how to build your own custom rom.
Ya I don't think it's the forum I think it's the phone. The sprint guy I asked at my local store told me about 2 months after it was released they haven't even sold 1 unit yet out of that store. I think it was way overpriced on the 2 year service agreement price. It was 299 for the note 4 and 429 for the note edge. I think that really hurt the sales.

That's not really a good excuse. The phone is the exact same other than the screen. I can't imagine it'd be that much more difficult to make a Note 4 rom work on an Edge.

The phone is not the exact same. Maybe some of the hardware is, but software wise it's a completely different animal.
The screen being a huge difference. In making a custom rom someone would need to figure out how to code to make use of the edge display like it works with stock rom.
Do some research before complaining. Like I said Samsung never intended for this device to be the new flagship device. The majority bought Note 4 or other devices. Or the heavy modders bought Nexus or the One Plus One.
One of the pitfalls to being a early adopter of a device that Samsung used as a feeler to see how the public reacted to the curved screen. Hell if I remember correctly Samsung only produced a limited amount of Samsung Note Edge's. Which could also be the reason why developers steered clear of this device.
you have to realize too as far as i have heard they sold a **** ton more note 4 than note edge so less people have them which equals to less people developing roms. i get bored with mine too sometimes i am checking for the lollipop update daily. just to get something different on there. but it is what it is man. be happy with it or go to the note 4 is my only advice for you

Your right about lack of roms, your 100% incorrect that the edge has been out for a year. Edge release date was November 2014. Lets hope in time more devs jump on board.
Lol I wish it has been out for a year. Maybe in a year someone will Crack the root process for Verizon note edge. And I won't have to buy the developer edition that looks like it's never releasing.
im sellingmine on ebay i cant take it..im bored to i really messed up buying this without more research i spent about 850 i feel so dume i know i knew better to...hey f.y.i for anyone like myself that bought a note 4 edge sprint, you do have the option to switch to tmobile theyare offering to pay up to 650 per line to get you tpo switch over i dont really wanna leave sprint but tmobile signal is also 4g in my area and they can get me out of this hole im in ,and back to a better phone that has development,im gonna go with the normal note 4 or the nexus 9 or the newest one, sucks to leave sprint realy but gonna be worth it not being stuck with this phone for so long!!

Yeah, I remember the times when I had a nonperfect phone that needed a custom Rom for major improvements. Now I don't have a dire need for full tweaks anymore, which is kind of boring. But I would love more cool new apps for the edge panel, other than uninspired superhero themes.
But I will soon try some Roms anyway, just for the fun of it.
If you want to point fingers aim them at samsung. This is, function wise, the best phone I ever had. They billed it as a concept phone and developers said: eff that! Why devote time and resources to a phone that is a shot in the dark. I had the htc hd2 and the htc sensation and in 2 weeks there were ROMs, tips, accessories and everything. The support and marketing for this phone has been abysmal. Samsung is lucky that I stopped rooting my phones so I do not look to tinker with it as much as I used to do so stock is fine. But they really did us, consumers of this particular phone, no favors.

I believe if you have a plan with unlimited data with sprint you can upgrade every 12 months.
But if you bought the phone for full price your shouldn't be locked into any contract.
Too bad sprint coverage in my area is lacking... my unlimited days is the only thing keeping me with Verizon at this point. Is literally take any other service if it was unlimited 4G in my house like my Verizon.

All that I'll say is.... Getting an AOSP/AOKP rom to work with the edge panel has been.... Very unforgiving. I'll keep tinkering in my spare time, but it isnt looking good.
Otherwise, you'd be looking for more themed / debloated TW roms.... Which with root, you can debloat it yourself anyway....

I feel your pain.. the edge doesn't seem like that much of a difference at first, after all it's just 1 little screen that's different about it. I've reached a point where i am now just ordering a new one cause there is no going back with this one now. This time i'm going to do what i should have done in the first place... Make a backup immediately!
As far as building a complete custom rom ground up, I am not that good. i'd like to be but i just am not. i'll throw out probably a debloated TW with and one without root for those who only want to remove those annoying apps then dont care about root anymore. maybe save someone a little time.

Hello all Note 3 users [emoji4] I'm currently using a HTC One M7 running on CM12.1 & love it (mainly because of the stereo speakers), but I want to get a new phone because this one is getting old & boring for me... I'm debating between choosing the LG G3 & Galaxy Note 3... The biggest thing is that I don't really like screens larger than 5" but in today's standards getting a good ~5" phone, that has good developer support is getting harder & harder to do... So as I said, I'm torn between the Note 3 & G3 (have other phones selected too, with a 5" screen max, but they're kinda close to End Of Life...) . One of the reasons to get the Note 3 over G3, is that the Note 3 has great ROM support from xda, which is the biggest thing for me while choosing a phone [emoji1] (I think it has a bigger ROM support than the G3 actually, but I could be wrong). I also like the S-Pen, because it's a cool addon that helps with the big screen (but probably won't use it for more than just "replacing" my finger). I've seen that there are 2 versions of the Note 3 with a Snapdragon & Exynos processor, so I have a question to that... Is there any other big difference between them or is it the same phone with just a bit different stuff in hardware? Also, do both of them have the same model number? I live in Poland & have seen that all of them are the N9005 variant (international version I assume?). I have also heard somewhere that tripping KNOX will make you loose your cellular data & calling, so you're left with a 5,7" MP3 player... Can someone explain me that? (Just need a basic explanation, not a in depth guide). It's gonna be hard to get used to a roof tile coming from a 4,7" screen, but I think that as time passes by, I will get used to it (atleast I hope so) Thanks for your time, by reading all of this shizzle [emoji1]
It's a no brainer for me if I were to choose between the G3 and the Note 3. While I have used both of them, and the former being one of the most pathetic mobile phone I have ever used, the latter is one of the best I have ever used, if not the best.
Snapdragon variants are N9005, that's the International versions. Exynos variants are N900X I think, at least in India. So yes, model no. will absolutely be different. Snapdragon has way more XDA support, so I will suggest that one 100 out of 100 times. Exynos is a completely different chipset by the way, said to be faster than Snapdragon, but one can hardly notice those fastness anyway.
As soon as you root the phone KNOX will be tripped, period, and there is no way to revert to official status once its tripped. But I think there are few ways where you can keep KNOX at 0x0 and still root, but as I never cared about KNOX I never searched.
At the end of the day, ask yourself, whether you want to get a phone of 2013 in 2016 or not, I don't think investing behind it is a wise idea. I will suggest you to go for Note 4, which's price is dropping since Note 5 launch and will be a significant upgrade from your M7 and miles better than Note 3 in terms of camera and display.
Rest your choice.
Just for the sake of clarity: tripping Knox DOES NOT affect usability of the phone except for secure mode and if you're planning to root, that secure mode would be moot point anyway. Also you may get hard time getting warranty repairs with tripped Knox, but the phone may be out of production and possibly out of warranty already. Also some programs check for root and refuse to work if present, but there are ways to root without tripping Knox and hide root as well. You need to find a model that will match frequencies used in Poland, but I can't help you with that. As far as the phone itself, I love it and I wouldn't exchange for anything else. Note 4 is a little upgrade over Note3, but nothing spectacular IMO and newest Note5 pretty much sucks without SD card and non replaceable battery.
zycze powodzenia
I see... So KNOX is just a security feature that I don't have to care about, because gonna root the phone anyways [emoji1] (But eh, wouldn't even care about when I had a warranty)
Also, my One M7 is also a 2013 phone in 2016 so I don't really care about that until the phone looses developer support from xda [emoji1]
I don't really take photos with my phone & even if I do, they're like 1 or 2 per month or less... So yeah, camera isn't a big deal for me.
As for the Note 4, I don't really feel like a 2k screen on a phone is worth it anyways... Would rather stick to 1080p
Also, I get "new" phones by selling the one I had so it goes like: I sell one, I get one [emoji4] That's how I got my HTC One M7 coming from a Samsung Galaxy S [emoji1]
If you care about AOSP roms, don't ever go for Exynos phone - half of stuff won't be working ( http://www.xda-developers.com/samsung-exynos-and-aosp-explained-a-story-of-betrayal/ ).
I also live in Poland and I use the N9005 variant, everything is working perfectly fine on CM12.1. I tripped my knox but it makes no difference.
On the other hand I really think that LG G3 has a better xda support and I think that it will have it for a longer time than a note 3, it just a newer and more popular device. However it lacks AMOLED screen which for me is a huge advantage.
So, I'm due an upgrade. A certain electronics dealer (not sure if it would be against the rules to name them) is running 2 promos: 1) Get a Note 5: get a $250 gift card at time of purchase. 2) Get any of the s7devices (Edge/Note too) and get a free 32" Sammy Smart TV. I don't really need the tv but the mother in law could use it. So, I literally cannot decide which to get. They have pros and cons all around. I'm a trucker, so my concern about the Edge's display is whether the glare along that curve would be annoying or distracting. My wife's s7 hasn't lagged yet, but reviews of both Notes mention lag (precious few reviews of Note 5 after MM update). Most reviews can't call a clear-cut "pick this one." And so, the freebies enter the equation. What do you guys think? I'm sure some of you had the 5. Do you think the 7 is significantly better? That it performs better?
Depends, I have been a note fan for along time. I use the s pen a bunch, and love the 5.7 inch screen size. I would say if you ate a note fan , and use the s pen a lot then go with the note 7. If you don't use the pen the the s7(or edge) would be good. I had the note 5 as my daily phone for a year, it's a solid phone, but the note 7 is better. The IP68 rating is awesome and I take the note 7 everywhere without worry about the weather. The battery performance is soo much better than the note 5 as well. I also was able to get the 256gb SD card for the Note 7 and its been great to be able to have all my music in my phone again. Hope this helps.

Sorry for lateness of reply. I've been testing an s7 Edge and an iPhone 6s+ to see if either is a suitable "upgrade." Can't do the iPhone. It's just too limiting. BUT since the Note 7 is officially done for, is the Note 5 "just as good?" I use the S Pen semi-regularly, but it isn't essential. I can do what I do without it. So I'm down to these 3 phones: s7 Edge which is ok but I'm UNimpressed with its performance. Seriously. I expected better, for some reason. LG v20 which is costly and even the AT&T rep was telling me "I've had literally 10 LG V10s returned in 6 months for manufacturing flaws." I asked her to elaborate and she said "Screen issues. Lines and such." Or the Note 5. If the s7 isn't flawless IMO, then how can a half generation older device be any better? Any input is appreciated.

I think it depends who you ask, and of course what you want to use it for. It isn't a bad device, but to give you an idea, I skipped the Note 5 in favor of my Note 4 at the time because of the removable battery and no SD card. The Note 7 however, was new enough to get me over to the other side and give the "no removable battery" a go (one of the added reasons was also the 256 GB SD card lol).
Right now, my personal options for a new phone are Pixel, V20, S7 Edge or back to my old Note 4 for the time being. And in all honesty, unless I like how the S7 Edge feels within a cover, I'll likely end up with my Note 4 again. I need the space an SD slot can provide me, and well, I'm still kind of hooked to the idea of being able to remove a battery and put a new one in

Like you, I held off on the 5 because of those issues. But I'm not a huge fan of the edges/curves. There's not a case on the market that provides decent protection for it simply due to the design. To make matters worse, Zagg pulled its tempered glass protectors because they weren't staying on. Haven't found one yet that does. Functionally, it's an awful design. It's easily broken. The v20 is an option, but it's really expensive, and I just can't justify that for an LG. They don't deserve it. I've never had luck with LG devices lasting. I'm not even remotely interested in the Pixel, but my Note 4 screen has burn-in. The s7 Edge isn't awful, but I was hoping for more in terms of performance. I may just return this one and get a regular s7.
The closest thing to the note 7 is the note 5.. I'm actually using both of them till I return my note 7..lol
I got the N5 when it came out, i was hesitant about the battery and memory (reason i got the 64gb) but i have had no issues. Im glad i didn't sell it. Its in perfect condition.

Hmm, I think that's a bit the thing. While I have read others saying similar things, I never had any issues with LG Prada that I had when it first came out. I loved that phone at the time.. but granted, it's also the only LG I ever owned so I don't really know for sure how the brand holds up with other models.
I bought an LG TV & Sound plate, and have owned a G2 & Tab 7.0. only the Tab 7 still works. Also, WAAAAY back in the day I had an LG Vu (in the pre-smart phone era). The $200 rebate helps lean me towards it.

There's a rebate on the V20 with ATT? If so, that may just be it for me to get pulled into it.

You have to trade in a paid off smartphone with a minimum value of $5. LOL I'm serious.

Hmm... darnit, I wish I didn't destroy a bunch of old smartphones a few months ago. Unsure if there's anything left besides my trusty Note 4... not really feeling like giving that phone up (plus it will get as much if not more when I sell it second hand).. imagine something like the Note 7 debacle happens again lol
---------- Post added at 10:47 ---------- Previous post was at 10:44 ----------
Hmm just quickly checked.. still have to Galaxy S's (the first one)... guess I could get rid of those lol

Hmm it seems I have a few more old phones, but they're all older than the S and unsure if they are all qualified to them as "smartphone", I even still have the LG Prada lol
Att charges 830 for the v20 and T-Mobile charges 750. Att is a rip off.

I agree, ATT is a lot more expensive, not just phones but also with the plans. Sadly it's also the only one (together with Verizon, but I want GSM for my trips to Europe so no chance I go to them) that has decent coverage in my state. T-mobile really lacks when it comes to coverage, their customer service isn't that great either in all honesty. The price is right, I agree, if only they had decent coverage then I could live with it I guess.
This might be good for us.

I am thinking of holding on to the note 7 shut it off and use my one plus 3 until the s8 arrives. Then I will exchange for a s7 edge.
I wanted to hold out with my N7 but when they banned them on flights I figured just switch and deal with it...I went with the s7 edge because it was the closest to the N7...I've had it a few weeks now and it's okay. does most of the things the N7 did...I am unhappy with the screen size and do wish I had the stylus...Battery life is similar..But I do feel like I have gone backwards...
I have been calling ATT cust service and my local store trying to convince them to let me get the upgrade when the N8/S8 comes out but they wont...so I'm unhappy I'm locked into this Next contract with a year old phone..
I read Samsung may be doing upgrade offers to the N8 for N7 owners so there is still hope....
This S7 edge is an okay replacement to get us thru but its not a N7....

You're not necessarily locked into it though.. if you have the Next 12, and if you still have several months to go until the 12 months, you could pay forward to get the upgrade. The rules are pretty much saying that it needs to be paid for 12 months, not that you cannot upgrade for 12 months. Meaning, you pay a few months extra (let's say it comes out in august, you would have to pay 2-3 months extra probably). It isn't a favorable option since the phone you're essentially renting from them becomes more expensive to rent, but I have had it confirmed by an ATT rep that this is indeed possible to do.
