How to lock the app in background? - OnePlus 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

On smartphones such as Huawei there is a function that allows you to lock the app in the background, for example by a slide down on an app in the multitasking appears a lock indicating that the app has been locked , and when you press on " close all " that app remains and it will not close until you unlock it by another slide down. It is possipile port this feature on other Android device? I have a OnePlus Two with OxygenOS 3.0.
SORRY for my English!
Thanks in advance!

I use Widget Locker by TeslaCoil. While it's a couple of dollars, it will give you whatever kind of lockscreen you want, and you set it to wake with any hardware button. You can also set it to unlock with a second press of a hardware button, or only a specific button (including the N1's capacitive buttons). I've got mine to wake with any button, and unlock with a custom on-screen slider.
Plus, I can put whatever I want on the lockscreen. If you want it too look like the default screen? You can do that. Widget it up? Perfectly fine. I also like the ability to make your own slider. I've got mine set so the left->right slider is unlock, and the other one launches the camera app, for those quick-or-you'll-miss-it shots.
I used to use MyLock (one of the free betas that was uploaded before the app was abandoned), but WL is more stable. Probably because you can pin it to the notification bar so Android won't kill it from time to time when it needs the memory. Or maybe because it's not beta code. I don't know, I'm not a dev, I only know the basic workings of the OS.
This sounds interesting.
But we still need something to lock the phone without using the power button.
I will purchase your suggested app and put Mixzing widget and the lock screen wigdet on it to search through music without unlocking the phone.
Thanks
If you put Widget Locker in your status bar (or launch it from app tray/homescreen, but for this purpose the status bar works better), you can go down and click it to put it in "Tool Mode" which is basically where you add all the widgets and such, as opposed to "Lock Mode" which can limit interaction (if you set it up that way). Neat trick is that you can go into the settings menu->Screen Timeout and select "Use Timeout in Tool Mode."
So you pull up WL in Tool Mode, it times out in 10 seconds, which puts the phone in lock mode, so you never have to touch the power button if you don't want to.
Neat little app eh?
..........
What if we need security a.k.a a pin code on the lockscreen?
Widgetlocker doesn't have a code system itself, so you slide to unlock then slide again then enter your pin. Pretty annoying.
Any way around this?

"device administrator locked device" when unlocking with fingerprint

First my fingerprint scanner works perfectly 10 out of 10 times it recognizes my finger,
but sometimes the lock screen take me straight to pattern lock and the message "device administrator locked device" appears on the screen.
why it is happening and what is the meaning of that?
Do you use an exchange account on it? if so, it is possible that adminstrator policies from that are nor considering the Fingerprint a viable security for the phone. Or it may force the pattern after a certain amount of time

No.. I don't use an exchange account, thanks.
Are you using the FingerPrint Quick Action app? What are your current Device Administrators, knowing what devices are permitted to lock your screen as an Administrator will help you identify the culprit.

I don't use FingerPrint Quick Action app..
I attached a screenshot of my Device Administrators..
I have disabled them for now to see if it was the cause of the problem.

screen off and lock is the culprit, any device administrator that locks your screen will require a pin to unlock regardless of fingerprints or smartlock configuration.

The app in question needs to turn the screen off via root. The fingerprint quick action app does just this.
why do you need an app to turn off screen? is your power button dead?

I just want to replace the home button long press from google now (or now on tap) to turn the screen off..
I did it with the "Screen off and lock" app but it caused the pattern lock "issue".
Nova Launcher will allow you to do a double tap to lock the screen. It will either lock it without use of fingerprint or it will set up a black screen and time out to use your device security or it has a root abilities to lock your device and use device security.

Strange
This is intended behavior on android 7+. Tested on Galaxy S5 with 7.1 Linage, Huawai Mediapad M3 and Galaxy S8+
However there is an app for samsung edge ( not sure if all edgy phones, tested on s8+ ) that can lock the screen without using device administrator. The app in question is Softkey Edge for Edge Panel, installed from galaxy app store. It allows the phone to be unlocked from fingerprint, without pin or pattern as nova prime screen lock gesture for example. And without root.
So there is a way to lock screens without device administrator, we just need to find it.
It's strange. I did not have this problem ever. I had to reload my phone because Oreo update blew up some programs I use a lot. So I downgraded, and now I have this problem.
I don't see anything in my Device Administrators that would cause this. And I haven't added any new programs for quite a while.
i have the same problem .after i unistalled screen off and lock application ,after working fine.

I presume that is a third party app. I don't have that to uninstall.
I found that the app "Files", a Huawei system app, giving this problem when marked as a device administrator. Disabling it's device administrator privileges solved the problem for me. Who would have thought Huawei's own app gave this problem.
I now lock my screen using Greenify's Sleep & Hibernate action, set up to be activated with a double-tap under Nova Launcher's gestures settings. No problem waking up and using fingerprint. Of course, Greenify must not be a device administrator as well. There are other ways to shut down the screen if not using Greenify.

Enable Multiwindow in MIUI [Nougat] No Root

We all know Xiaomi doesn't let us use multiwindow on its MIUI though its an android nougat feature. However there's a nifty trick to activate this feature on any nougat MIUI device including our Mi 5.
Note that this works on nougat based MIUI only.
First download the app called Button Mapper. You need the pro version.
Playstore link https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=flar2.homebutton
Open the app and give permission for services.
Go back to the app and click the 'Menu' button. On top activate customisation. Click on long press. Scroll down and select Split screen.
Your device is now ready to use splitscreen or multiwindow feature. Open an app. Press and hold the menu or recents button. Slide your finger from the extreme bottom of the screen to slide the window up. Now you can open and run another app simultaneously. When using two apps at a time, press the outline separating the windows for a few options.
Make sure to allow the app to autostart in Security>Permissions>Autostart.
Not all apps are supported by default but you can do it by enabling force activities to be resizable from developer settings. And this won't always work like you intend. You may face a few bugs.

Just got news that miui is bringing multiwindow in miui 8. The alpha builds will get it first. Quick reoly is probably a long way to go, sadly.
Thank you
The quick reply is really much important and useful then the multitasking window , I hope someone here can find a workaround or an app that can do this without rooting , I have tried some floating apps like notifly but all doesn't provide any thing near the native quick reply feature

Havent looked into it. This is probably because the app alters input of the device. Does three finger screenshot stop working when using two windows at a time or just after configuring anything within the app?

Just after configuring anything within the app ? I think once you grant accessibility access it tottaly stop working in all cases

Face recognition not working after lock with "screen off" app

Hello, I am using lock screen app such as "Screen Off" to lock my phone instead of using the power button.. Just find it a bit more convenient that way..
However, once i lock the phone that way, the face recognition doesnt work anymore when i unlock the phone.. I have tried 4 lock screen apps, all give the same problem..
Any of you facing the same issue> Any workaround? Thanks in advance..
Same here, I'm using OnePlus 5
I don't believe there is a workaround. Android requires a pin or pattern unlock after the phone has been locked by a 3rd party service.
There is a workaround!
Hi,
I had the exact same problem just now. Instead of using the "Screen Off" app, you can add a new "quick command" in Bixby called "Screen Off". After creating the command, there's a menu option on it to add it to the home screen. It behaves identically to the Screen Off app (albeit about 1 second slower), but will allow screen unlock using face detection afterwards.

Lock Screen Button

HI all,
I am a new user of MI A1 device. i purchased it a week back and started using the stock android interface.
My question to forum is as follows:
Is there any app which locks the screen without using the power button?
Most of the app present in play store asks for the administrative rights which makes the finger print scanner to stop functioning.
Kindly suggest one good app which does the lock screen functionality without asking for administrative rights and which is light in size.
thanks in advance
Shri
Why would you want that?
I am using Nova launcher with gesture up for this. For using it with fingerprint unlock you have to have root and enable "root screen off method" in Nova launcher. Then it works flawlessly and you don't have to reach for power button anymore.
If you don't want to use Nova launcher, you can achieve same result with Tasker or similar app with shell command run as root "input keyevent 26".
