Dual sim users, G935FD vs G935F Battery difference? - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

Hi,
I am considering to purchase the dual sim model of S7 edge.
However, reading from few posts on the forum, I am seeing posts complaining about the dual sim model's battery that drains way faster than the single sim model.
If someone share with me their actual usage time for s7 edge(especially the dual sim variant) it would be great.
+Will dual sim variant have less rom/firmware available due to its dual sim hardware?
Thanks in advance.

Both model is exactly the same except the dual sim
(with 2nd imei). They even have the same firmware. You can flash G935f rom to G935fd or vice versa and have no problem or different.
But of course if you use 2 sim card, radio will drain a bit more battery and have a bit worse battery than single sim. Otherwise the battery usage will be the same if you use 1 sim.

So having "same firmware", do you mean by this, that custom roms made for G935F can be easily flashed to G935FD?

Probably
At least the official stock rom is the same, so why won't custom rom be the same too.

Base model have 2 sim slots, so what is FD model?

Hey there!
I'm from iran. In iran we have both s6 sm-g920f and sm-g920fd (which i am using now). FD is dualsim. Now we have here both G935F and G935FD. I dont know which one to purchase.
Samsung during introduction of s7 said that phone has two sim slots. It can be used as dual sim or sim+sd card.
My question is what is the difference between G935F and G935FD? As i know F model also have slot for two sims. Does the FD has 2slots for sims and one slot for microsd? 3 slots in total?
Looking forward to hear from you
Thanks in Advanced!

SM-G935F has a tray taking one SIM and one MicroSD card. SM-935FD has a tray taking two SIMs or you can replace one of the SIMs by a MicroSD. See pictures on this page.
Awesome! Thanks for your fast reply

Does Duos version of S7 Edge support sdcard? Do Custom ROMs support S7 Edge Duos?

Like the title says, does Duos version of S7 Edge support sdcard? Do Custom ROMs support S7 Edge Duos? I know there is no AOSP and I really dont care but I would like to know this
+1
im also looking for an s7 edge, there's a seller in ebay with duos cheaper than single sim (maybe because dual sims are from south asia or something like that)
If someone with s7 edge can confirm if having a dual s7 edge affects something(talking about development, projects, firmwares, etc)
Thanks in advance
Duos 7 Edge: (1) 1 sim card and microSD or (2) 2 sim cards no microSD. i'm using Option 1 with a 200GB microSD card. i've seen some custom ROMs that support the Duos version. thread title will let you know if ROM works with 935F & 935FD or just the 935F version. More answers to questions in the development forums.
As far as I have seen, its usually Duos version of Samsungs that get left out in the cold. I think I might get the single sim on contract.

I just picked up a S7 Edge G-935FD gold (dual sim international model) on Amazon for $629; no tax and free Prime Shipping (YMMV on free one-day; I found a seller that offered free one-day so I'm getting mine tomorrow!)
I read into this before purchasing and there really is no difference between the two. The 935F and the 935FD are exactly the same firmware / project wise, minus the fact that the duos version has a sim management feature (since it allows two sims). I believe I read that having the 935F firmware (official) on an FD device, still gives you the ability to use both SIMs. I saw this during work so I can't link it, but I am 99% sure it was mentioned on XDA
So far for the official firmware i can install the G935F without any problem, in fact the Build Number at the Software Info menu is G935F , Baseband is G935F Just the Model Number is 935FD , i get the updates normally with the G935F rollout , it seems that Samsung done it right this time , Don't know about custom roms
you can use 1 SIM + 1 Micro SD or 2 SIMs as you like
so? does s7 edge dual has root?

Converting a G935f to a G935fd (single SIM to dual SIM)

All experts,
I would like to 'enable' on my S7 edge the dual SIM function. The 'international' card holder could care 2 Nano SIM card, but the G935F is supporting just one SIM.
It's possible to do this without root? It's possible to install the G935FD firmware or are there radio baseband modifications nesessary?
In addition, I need to run the Blackberry Works app (former Good). This app is not running on a rooted phone.
Thanks for any comment and help.

You can't.
Single sim variant have only 1 imei number but dual sim variant have 2 which are for each sim. You can't just add more imei to your phone and even if you can, it is illegal.
Also card holder of single sim variant cannot hold 2 sim cards, only 1 sim card+microsd.
G935fd and G935f firmwares also are identical. So you can flash it on your phone but it's not going to enable dual sim on single sim variant.

While don't you save yourself the strength and buy the dual sim version, because like the other guy above said, its impossible to use dual sim on a single sim. Backup your data, get the dual sim version and restore back.
Thanks for the first feedback.
- single SIM and dual SIM card holders are available at eBay etc. The HW of the two phone is 100% identical. A friend of mine converted his G935f to G935fd with the support of a Vietnamese service guy over TeamViewer. My problem is the root after this.
BTW: Buying a DUOS is not a problem, it cost just some money
Thanks for expert tips...

It IS possible to convert G930/5F to G930/5FD. Only you have to do is clone your IMEI as IMEI 2 using Z3x or other software and replace SIM + microSD tray to SIM + SIM/microSD or DIY
That's in theory, but I personally need assist in:
1. Downgrading to Nougat, because Z3x doesn't support (yet) the newest /efs to modify cert to add that IMEI 2 or at least I can't find new enough which supports Oreo
1.1 Need to factory reset!
2. Getting root
3. Adding IMEI 2
3.1. Need to factory reset!
4. Updating back to official Oreo without root, if possible. I'm perfectly fine with normal functions, don't need the root for anything. Only I need is second SIM. I believe that I need to flash official Nougat first over rooted Nougat and update it using FOTA to Oreo? If not, flashing Oreo by Odin.
I will very appreciate any help with confirming these steps (is it correct way?) and helping me to get needed files and stuff to do it.
All experts,
I have replace the motherboard of my Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, dual sim variant (SM-G935FD) with that of single sim variant but a frequent prompt of sim card mode shift is happened, saying "the sim card mode is witched from dual sim to single sim mode, which requires a rest to factory setting and restart". Since there is only a restart option, I'm forced to hit it and restart frequently but not working yet. How can I fix this problem?
Thanks for any comment and help!
Yoseph
I also used z3x and it works flawlessly im on Oreo s7 edge exynos.

can you tel me how to downrenge to nuuget ?

Very confused with where my phone is from and what updates it can get

Hi,
My apologies if this is an obvious question but I'm a new Galaxy S8 user and I've gone through these forums extensively before giving up and making this post
I had someone bring along a Samsung Galaxy S8 from the US to India, and it seems to be working like charm. They ordered it online and picked up the unlocked international variant (SM-G950F)
In the Service Provider Software I see 'INS/INS/TPA'. I assume INS/INS was set because I popped in an Indian sim. TPA seems to be Panama?
Now I check my software updates and I'm stuck on the May Security Patch and there really aren't any updates for this firmware.
I want to switch to an Indian firmware but on updato and sammobile, only the SM-950FD is available for India as only the dual sim variant is sold in India
I want to flash a firmware with the latest update and also receive future OTA updates but I'm not sure which firmware to flash.
Is there no solution for me?
i can tell you only this: had bought a Dual Sim S8 in Germany, the phone was originaly from Egypt. (DBT/DBT/EGY), and received OTA's.
*but the battery life was horible

Haha but I have not received a single OTA update. Maybe I missed one because it was set to auto but I'm still on the May security patch

Install Phone info app from google play and open the app it will show you all hardware and software information of your phone. See the CSC code and find your software according to your region.
You can flash FD firmware, it is the same.
You have dual sim model G950FD or single sim G950F
check hardware to remove sim and card socket and see the card socket is hybrid or not.

Ok means its not hybrid socket.
Download phone info* Samsung* app from google.
Open it and check CSC and region of your phone.

It doesn't matter what FW you install, you can never change it to INS as TPA is hardwired to your phone.
It should change to INS/INS/TPA. People commenting should understand that F/FD doesn't matter, as the software is the same. It's discussed here MANY times.
EDIT: last csc being TPA doesn't matter

Please check your back panel of your phone. The model no. Is written over there. If you want to update your phone to latest firmware its so easy. Find your model no. Is F/ FD download any firmware of any region you like and flash through Odin. Flash all 4 files with home csc.
I think your main issue is latest firmware not csc because your phone is Sim unlocked. You can use any sim card of any country in your phone.

XT1681 dual SIM version

Not sure if this has been asked before, but I didn't find anything. I just purchased the XT1681 dual SIM version of this phone. First question, is it compatible with all the potter roms? Second question, will I lose the dual SIM function?
Thanks in advance for your help.

The builds for EU/US will work well for dual SIM devices. Only India has a different build (the latest one ends on 92 for India and 93 for EU/US). I have the european version with dual SIM (so I can't speak for the indian firmware) and flashed POTTER_NPNS25.137-33-11_cid50_subsidy-DEFAULT_regulatory-DEFAULT_CFC.xml.zip without any problems. Also later builds should work.

I have the same model of you and i have flashed successful all of the roms here, now im on resurrection remix 6.0.
All roms have Dual Sim function so don't worry about it!
Remember if you flash custom Oreo roms don't get back to stock or you will lose VoLTE.
Take full twrp backup(oem, efs etc.) and keep it safe.
If you have any question you can send private message im from mexico too.
