Hello, XDA,
My Motorola Droid Razr M XT907 just plain-ol' died.
The screen went black, and will not now do anything.
Holding the Power-On makes it do Only ONE "vibrate" burp. That's all.
I connected it to my PC, and the PC sees only 3 files:
MotorolaDeviceManagerSetup.exe
MDMSetup.xml
Autorun.inf
I did not try to run any of those 3 files.
It will not turn on... thus, I cannot tell you any internal tech details.
I bought it a year ago, used, on ebay, for $52.
I'm sure that it is Normal (not Modified in any way).
Can it be saved? I am not opposed to opening / disassembling it.
IF it CanNot be saved, then...
I DO WANT to stay with VERIZON (great) coverage, now thru PagePlus (cheap).
Monthly, I need only about 1000 Talk minutes, 200 Texts, and 200MB Data.
What replacement phone might you recommend?
Used: OK. Inexpensive: YES, please. 3G or 4G: I think I don't really care.
Thanks for your more educated and experienced input.

guessing its a bad LCD screen
can be replaced, bit its kind of a pain
Sent from my XT1060 using XDA Labs
Thanks for the thought, Shadow, but I think the Display could never have been the problem.
Again, Holding the Power-On makes it do Only ONE "vibrate" burp. That's all.
That's not normal. And anyway,... Well, now... THIS is sort of embarrassing...
I thought fer Sure that a Low Battery was NOT the problem,
because it was plugged in at the time.
It seems, however, that the cord from the charger in my car to the phone had a bad connection.
MAYBE this is a useful episode, though... in that...
THAT description is how this make/model behaves when the battery is Really low.
Hopefully, that might help somebody, in the future.
Sorry for the false alarm, people.

I did some searching around to find some answers related to these problems, but was unable to find anything so my apologies if this has been answered before.
Anyway, I've had my atrix for about 2.5 weeks now (through Bell) and twice now the screen has shut off, and I am unable to turn it back on. Swiping the fingerprint sensor or pressing the button on the top does absolutely nothing. Both times I've had to pull the back off and take the battery out to restart it, and then the phone works just fine.
My other problem is that when I connect my hdmi to my tv, the motorola logo shows up briefly (on the tv) for 2-3 seconds, then it disappears. The controls to navigate through my videos are there on my phone, but nothing displays on the tv. It worked before on my friend's tv the first day I got the phone, but apparently something is wrong.
Basically what I'm wondering is: is my phone defective? Am I able to fix these problems myself? Will an update to 2.3 (apparently coming out in July) fix these problems? Or should I just go back to the bell store and get a new phone. I'm wanting to try out rooting the phone to get rid of motoblur (which apparently increases speed and battery life) but if I'm going to have to return the phone anyway then I'll wait a few days.
Just to clarify, I have a motorola atrix from Bell. I guess there are a few differences between it and the one you get from AT&T.
Thanks!

It sounds defected, since you cannot turn the screen back on. I've never experienced that. I'd say just swap it for another if you can.
Yeah I've heard of a few glitchy/buggy things happening but this sounded to me like a defect for sure.
I'll head down to Bell on monday and get it taken care of.
As just another question on the side, I've been reading about hacking/modding/whatever you want to call it for the atrix and it sounds like fun! Are we able to unlock our bootloaders on Bell or is that just AT&T?

I think it's for AT&T only, sorry. There is a progressive thread on unlocking it, though.

Alright well good to hear people are workin on it!
Thanks for the prompt reply
Hey there. I have my Galaxy S II (GT-I9100) for about a month, and since a couple of days ago it has been behaving very weirdly about USB and charging.
First of all, the phone thinks it has USB connected at all times. When I go to the settings menu try to enable mass storage it says USB is already connected, even though it isn't!!!
Sometimes when I start the phone it goes to that USB Kies screen and says "connected", when absolutaly no cables are connected AT ALL!!!
When I turn the cell off, remove the battery and plug it back in, without turning the phone on, the recharging battery icon appears, but blinks with a drained battery icon with a yellow exclamation sign and a thermometer which I sincerely have no idea what that means.
It also takes ages to recognize the power charger or when I really connect the USB cable. And finally, when I take them off, it also takes a while to "perceive" they're off and remove the charging lightning from the battery icons.
PRETTY PLEASE, SOMEONE HELP ME OUT, as I don't have time to take the phone to service, and didn't really want to do that
Thanks!!!
This has also happened to me and loads of other SGS2 users! Although usually it only happens sporadically and not constantly. It seems that it's a bad soldering job or dust/dirt has gathered in the microUSB port. You might be able to fix it, if you're *really* careful.

Last night my phone wouldn't even start charging, so I decided to take matters into my own hands. With the smallest screwdriver I could find, I carefully 'lifted' the tiny PCB in the USB jack while blowing in at the same time. Sure enough, some sand particles fell out, and I haven't gotten carmode'd in nearly 13 hours now. Previously it would do it once every 15 minutes. So far so good, it seems.

Thanks for the help... but what is PCB? Is it the connector inside the "hole"?
Tried that and it stopped thinking USB was connected the whole time... on the other hand, it doesn't detect when I connect the USB cable

You can't talk on plural when you only point out one thread. And I've read that, but it isn't the same as my phone doesn't go in "car mode".
My phone's problem only resembled a problem JaX3RiR briefly mentioned in the middle of the thread.
I tried googling it before posting anything anywhere, but couldn't find anything useful.
Please don't try to look like a smartass like that and embarrass yourself. If you got nothing to add to the thread, it's best if you sit out of it. It's much more appreciated when helpful people like JaX3RiR post...
Hi,had the same problem, tried reflashing back to original firmware, but still had the same problem,,the only way i could boot the phone was through recovery mode,(reboot)Had to send phone back for possible repair??cut a long story short they sent me a new phone,,They said they couldnt repair the fault, something to do with the usb charging system,,So i would advise anyone with this specific problem,to send phone back, and get a replacement..hope you get it solved
Thanks mate, I sent mine today as well... I hope they act the same with me, as I'm afraid customer service around here always tries to incriminate the user not to use the warranty...

There is no reason to be angry, I'm just trying to help, and just wanted that we all post in one thread, so it would be easier to track later.
I just posted longest thread. Here is another one if it helps to justify:

I'm pretty sure you have the same problem. Sometimes Vlingo starts, sometimes phone thinks its charging, when trying to boot it shows battery image and won't boot, can boot only recovery and do restart from there.
Get of the high horse when people are trying to help you.
Are you sure you didn't connect USB cable upside down or bended USB port with the cable?
I have no idea what Vlingo is, and obviously I didn't connect the USB cable upside down. I don't think I bended the port with the cable since it still recognizes the cable for charging or booting and going directly into Kies mode, for example.
I am not on any high horse when people try to help me, as you could see my response towards the guys above. Your post wasn't sounding helpful at all, you were just sounding like "hey, you dumass noobie, don't open a new thread for yourself, check the forums first".
By the way, I also took a look at that thread you posted before posting mine, but I have no idea what is "car mode" on my phone...
Sorry if I sounded rough. I thought it is similar issue, so I posted link to longer thread. I had this issue myself.
Peace. Let us know what the service say .
This happened to me one week ago while on holiday....that temp indicator while charging plus the other stuff you mention....
Plus the phone went into flight mode and won't come out....
Got home and did a reset and phone now doesn't recognise sim card...
great phone but I'm a little disappointed

Hello,
Had the same problems aswell, only mine had a bunch of other problems aswell:
When I shut down my mobile it restarts itself and then shows a yellow exclamation mark with an tempgage. Only way to turn on my phone is to connect it with the charger, turn of my phone again, remove the charger and then the phone turned itself on again but without the temp gage.
My phone also thinks its charging when it is not, and when I am actually charging it, its not charging.
Also my PC does not recognize my phone so I am not able to update it.
I have also sent my phone for a repair, I will keep you guys posted.
greets from the netherlands
Yep, mine only got fixed by going into service. It got its mainboard warranty switched.
T- Mobile sent me a replacement phone
They seemed to know the symptoms when I explained what was happening
Same fault for me. Mainboard replaced, works fine now.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
How did you guys get it fixed? Did you have to ship the phone out somewhere? How long did you have to wait to get it back? What was the process?
Thanks.
Mine is going to be repaired in two weeks.
I was the 8th SGS2 since tuesday which came in the repair center.
The repair guy said it is a manifacturing fault.
The phone gets hots, and outside temperature is cold, so it makes moisture in the phone.
This cause the phones power management to get fu up (SGS2 has a small battery inside of it, and that gets fu up). Only fix is replace hardware, but 9 of 10 times Samsung gives the fault to the customer. They say it has water damage and can't be fixed in warrenty...
I'm going to write a huge article about it, and I hope it will get published by a lot of site's soon. Phones he admitted having the problem: SGS1, SGS2 and SGSN.
I charged my GS2 2x by USB and it's discharged faster than by the sector
The USB power isn't enough for charge up the GS2 correctly
Are you guys suffering from rapid battery discharging, i have all of the above symptons but my battery drains within hours...I`ve even bought a brand new battery off ebay that is exacly the same issues... I`d like to send it back to O2 but i`ve rooted and flashed custom firmware...
I have a Motorola Droid 4 that was purchased around Feb 2012. I never really had issues, and then within 24 hours it crapped out on me. I thought it was the power button being unresponsive, because sometimes the screen would come on and sometimes it wouldn't throughout the day. It quickly became less responsive, until I couldn't power up the screen at all. For a few tries the haptic feedback for my password worked even though the screen was off. Shortly after that I had 2 different friends try calling and there was no response, though it's possible the battery could have died (but the phone calls rang, rather than going straight to voicemail). As I was sitting in the Verizon store, I was looking through the 2 halves of the phone and it looks like the ribbon cable connecting the screen to the main phone has a tear. The notification light still works so I know it has power.
SO...Yes, I ordered a replacement cable, and am going to have a computer hardware savvy friend try and fix it, but in the mean time I need help accessing the phone through my computer to take hundreds of contacts, pictures and videos off in case he can't repair the phone. No they are not backed up (and yes I should have backed them up). My computer (PC, Windows) recognizes the phone, but won't let me access the phone. It's trying to make me use MotoCast. MotoCast USB wants me to unlock the screen before it recognizes the phone, but I can't. Is there any way around this? My computer shows my phone as follows – CD Drive (E): MotoCast, Removable Disk (F):, and Removable Disk (G):. Attempts to open F and G come up with “Please insert a disc into Removable Disk (F)” (or G).

it is still important for you? i think i could help.
So first my power button wants to stop working, I "fixed" that issue and now that's perfectly fine,
But now, yesterday, literally my phone was sitting perfectly fine, on my desk connected to my computer using PDANet+ to tether its net. I use Speedify to combine both my net speeds to get one better, more stable speed (Crappy dorm room net data cap x 2)
After some hours of doing some homework, I attempted to take my phone off the USB connection, and when I unplugged it, I heard the disconnect sound, but my screen didn't come on, I tried to unlock it, nothing. Power button, finger print sensor, literally nothing worked. Connecting it back to my PC and other PCs showed XT1650 and ADB Interface in both my computers, so clearly it was working fine, but for some reason, it just wouldn't work. I prayed that the display from the inside didn't get disconnected somehow(As I've seen in two drop tests so far), and just let it die over night. Woke up, connected it to charger, and the screen powered on just fine showing that it was dead and its now charging.
Like..what. How. Why.
It literally had no reason to freeze like that and now it works perfectly fine as if nothing happened. Why does this device continue to scare the **** out of me?
I still love it to death though, great phone.

im returning mine and having a new one sent.Never had to do this after buying a new phone. Mine is freezing up and rebooting itself while playing games. Dont understand the problem but best buy is sending me a new one . If it does the same it will go back. I think i will just wait on the cheaper UNLOCKABLE VERSION..
Stop breaking your phone! I've run into this tons of time on Android. Just hold volume down and the power button to do a virtual battery pull. Shouldn't happen too often.
Do you like Speedify? Looks awesome, but also kind of pricey. Ever found a good free option?

Dude. I tried holding the power button for like 2 minutes. I tried holding pwr + volume down for 2 minutes, nothing worked. Whether it was connected to my PC or not, it just didn't work. It was literally frozen.
I use the free version of speedify. Their referral system is stupid. You don't even have to verify any emails, I just have one main account and a bunch of other secondary ones. I could literally make an account right now with the email [email protected] and the password asdfasdf and have a new account. I always sign up under my referral link so I know when I go back to my main account I'm going to have a stupid amount of data to go through
If it's reads on adb, you can always force it to reboot via the adb reboot command.

I actually just ordered a replacement from Motorola, you can get it through here: https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/mcp/service/
Just be careful:
Option 1 is free but requires you to send your device back, wait for them to fix it, and then send it back (says it takes approximately 10 days total)
Option 2 technically costs $24.99, and requires you to only send your device back when you get your new phone (up to 4 days), however, there is a security hold just incase someone tries to scam them and hold their phone forever, and there's a tax on that too. So you'll be immediately charged ~$600 as soon as you choose this option, but it will be back in your account after you send your phone back.

Hi, I have a LG K20 Plus. I currently can't turn the phone on, so I don't have much software information to give you. The phone was bought at T-Mobile (Metro by T-Mobile) and I had a SafeLink sim card and a 16 gb micro sd card inserted when the issue started. I have since removed both. It says Qualcomm snapdragon on the screen when it starts. It was also rooted and the bootloader is unlocked.
I broke the screen on my phone and I decided to do the repair myself. I have done about 7 or 8 screen replacements and I actually did this phone a year ago with no issues, so I felt I could manage this one as well. I bought an entire display (from ebay) and switched it out with no problems. Initially it worked great! I used it for a few days before realizing that I had no sound. I opened it back up and noticed the loud speaker had fallen out. I found it, put it back in, reassembled it as I normally do and turned it on.
NOTE: when I was reassembling it the second time, I actually tried to put a screw in a hole that wasn't a screw hole. I used a light to normal amount of pressure but I didn't force it. I think it's the hole where the moisture detector is. Picture #1
I turned it on and right after the logo screen I got a message that said "High temperature detected Powering off for your safety" and it immediately shut off. The phone does appear to charge normally but it won't stay on. I did a factory reset (I'm not sure if it's still rooted but the bootloader is still unlocked). I also switched back to the old (broken) display just to check if that would work. I couldn't see any difference in the shielding but I switched them just to be sure. I bought a new battery and installed it. I took a q-tip and 95% Isopropyl Alcohol and cleaned pretty much the entire motherboard, paying special attention to the battery connections. After each one of these things, I tried to start it with the same error message immediately upon start up.
NOTE: At no point has the phone every physically felt hot or even warm. I don't think it's on long enough for it to get hot. But something is wrong and I have no idea what it is. I, literally, took the phone apart, put in the speaker and put it back together in less than 5 minutes. Could it be I just bumped something and knocked it loose?
I searched for any information I could find both here and with google but there is next to no information on the LG K20 Plus. I did find some information on the LG V20 that had overheating issues, and that has been all the luck I've had. I watched several videos and it seems the solution is to apply thermal paste. But my phone doesn't have any evidence that thermal paste was ever on it. I went and bought some but I have no idea where exactly to put it or even if it's needed. Most videos showed people using some kind of aluminum foil but I'm not sure if that is safe. I have several old phone laying around and I managed to get some of the silver tape and a copper square thing but, again, my phone did not have these things to begin with. I don't want to start adding things only to make it worse.
There is a slight difference of the tape that is on my phone now (the display I just bought) as compared to the old one (broken display). Picture #2 Again, I have no idea if that means anything but I thought it worth mentioning. Picture #3 is how it looks now as if I were going to put it back together. Picture #4 is the part (don't know name) where the videos show to apply the thermal paste and the shielding.
I'm really at a loss as to what to do next and I can't really afford to take it in to have it repaired before next month. If anybody has any insight or answers as to what happened, I'd be very grateful for your help. I'm sorry for the long post. I just wanted to tell you everything I have done in detail. Thank you
If you're using Kernel Auditor or any other kernel adjustment simply reset to default and use only ondemand or interactive. There's also options for the thermal portion of the kernel, don't mess with those. If VCC or another thermal option was checked off turn it back on. Putting the GPS to the moderate setting (the one below high accuracy) will keep the temps down as well. Are you using a custom ROM? If you're on Discord you can feel free to message me SCOPE★ BRΞΛD #8460 . I am only offering that so we can get this resolved quickly for you, just copy and paste since I use special characters.
Omgosh, thank you so much for taking the time to respond! Although I'm sure everything you are saying is very smart, I have absolutely no idea what you're saying. I'll do my best to try and answer you. I don't know what SCOPE is or how to send a message there. I don't think I'm using any thing for the "kernal". Also, I don't know what VCC or Discord is. As far as turning off setting for GPS or any other app, the phone will not stay on. I get about 1 sec after the logo when it boots up, then the error message about overheating and it immediately shuts off. I did a factory reset so everything should be good to go as far as apps. I don't think I'm using a custom ROM. The only thing I did was install TWRP, unlocked the bootloader and rooted the phone a year ago but nothing since then. As I stated earlier, this happened right after I did a display repair. Is there something on the MOBO that can get bumped that will make your phone get hot or send a overheating error. My phone doesn't show any sign that there was ever thermal paste on it prior but should I add some now. Will that help?
Update... Now the phone does not power on at all. When I plug it in to charge it I get an error that says "Device temperature is too high or low. Please move to another place to charge. I wonder where you went. I googled SCOPE so I could sign up to message you like you asked me to but nothing but definitions came up. I know I'm out of my league here. You guys all talk so technical. Can someone refer me to a site that is more directed toward people who don't know much about the technical side of cell phones... please! Again, thank you for your time.

Hey, I just wanted to say sorry this happened to you. The same thing happened to me. My LG K20 Plus, no matter what button combinations I push and for how long I hold them, will not turn on or go into download mode. Plugging it in to a charger or PC does nothing either. Before it got to this state, I got the infamous green screen of death/Demigod crash handler (google this--it's a known issue with some models of LG phones and it happens when they overheat). It's definitely a hardware/build issue, and especially since this issue keeps the phone from turning on or connecting to a computer, I don't see a workable fix short of buying a new phone, unfortunately. Again, I'm in the same boat so I'm not happy about it either. I would say XDA is by far the best site to find a fix to this sort of problem, so if no one here has any suggestions on how to fix it, I think you (we) may be out of luck.
Thank you for letting me know. I'm not sure of some of what you said but I did catch the bottom line. Basically, just hold onto the phone until someone here comes up with a fix or workaround? I have a question for you. Did your problem start after you did some kind of repair? I'm wondering if I bumped something on the mobo to make it give a false overheating error. Do you happen to know where that sensor might be located? Sorry you are having problems to. It really stinks when your phone breaks and no matter how much time and energy you put it to figuring out the problem to fix it, there just isn't any good answers out there. I wish you lots of luck and if you figure anything out, please update here so I can try it too.
You need a whole new phone.
That or you're gonna have to replace the hardware
