SD Card and Bluetooth Issues - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I have a 64gb SD card on my phone to make space on my phone for apps and stuff. Problem is that the storage is running out and I realized that very few things are actually on the SD card. My Google Play Music Library is on it and some movies I have. I am running Resurrection Remix ROM on it, Marshmallow. There seems to be no option in Settings > Apps to move apps to the SD card. I also tried the app Link2SD and it hangs when trying to move an app and the link to SD option is greyed-out and underneath it says no secondary partition found... any idea how to force my apps to move to SD to clear up space? Or at least some settings to change...
Second problem is that my bluetooth audio becomes very choppy for 5-10 seconds whenever I turn on the screen from being off. Also, when the screen is off it will occasionally skip. It happens independently of what other apps I'm running.

2.2 FRF85B Auto installs apps to SD!

In 2.2 FRF85B, if an app supports 2.2's built in apps2sd, when you install it from the Market, it AUTO installs ONTO the microSD card!
Go ahead, test it yourself with these 2.2 apps2sd compatible apps:
AK Notepad
FeedR
FML, Android
LED Tester
Movies
Pandora
Titanium Backup
World Newspapers
obviously there's more, but these are the ones I used and reinstalled from a fresh wipe on FRF85B, and they were automatically installed onto microSD card.
Didn't do it for me....but Titanium Backup did get an update and you can now click move to SD card in Applications menu.
didnt auto install for either :/

You can set the flag to 0,1 or 2. I believe 0=Auto, 1=Internal and 2=External. Maybe your flag is set to 1 (internal).
It works for me. I have never installed world newspapers before on this phone, so that also eliminates the possibility of the phone "remembering" this setting. I checked and it automatically installed to sd.
There is also a possibility that the developers of the app can set them to automatically install to sd card... but unlikely, since all those apps on your list automatically went to the sd card, not just some of them.
depends on the installLocation attribute: http://developer.android.com/guide/topics/manifest/manifest-element.html#install
I downloaded world newspapers and it automatically went to SD card and I'm on FRF83 : )
The developer sets a flag in the app for Auto, Internal or External.
Most of them set it on Auto, so the phone automatically installs on the card if you have low space on the internal memory.
I remember having a newly downloaded app auto installing straight into SD, i was back on FRF72 back then i think. Dont remember app name though.
At least developers are using it properly.
What is not clear to me is how "auto" setting will be handled in this scenario: first few app2sd supporting apps with "auto" attribute are installed to the phone memory, then a bunch of non-apps2sd apps is installed and phone space becomes low. Will Froyo at this point move apps2sd automatically to SD card? Hopefully it will, but need to double check that.

Developers have two choices when they install the app:
Internal
External
If they choose internal, and there is room, they go internal. If there is no more room, they get installed on external.
If they choose external, they get installed on external.
I don't believe the OS will move your apps without you prompting it to do so.
From here:
internalOnly:
The application must be installed on the internal device storage only. If this is set, the application will never be installed on the external storage. If the internal storage is full, then the system will not install the application. This is also the default behavior if you do not define android:installLocation.
auto:
The application may be installed on the external storage, but the system will install the application on the internal storage by default. If the internal storage is full, then the system will install it on the external storage. Once installed, the user can move the application to either internal or external storage through the system settings.
preferExternal:
The application prefers to be installed on the external storage (SD card). There is no guarantee that the system will honor this request. The application might be installed on internal storage if the external media is unavailable or full, or if the application uses the forward-locking mechanism (not supported on external storage). Once installed, the user can move the application to either internal or external storage through the system settings.
So the issue arrises with this scenario:
1) install some apps2sd supporting apps with "auto" attribute to the the phone memory (cause that's the default). Phone memory is ok.
2) install a bunch of non-apps2sd apps.
3) phone memory low. Get a warning.
4) Now need to go and manually move apps2sd supporting apps to SD card.
Would be nice if OS would be doing that for you in step 4 since there's no easy way to know which apps can be moved to SD card without going through each app in the manage applications.

That's right.
Apps2SD seems to be like a beta product. Besides a quick sign of which apps can be moved, the whole thing with the breaking widget is very annoying. What's the point of moving a big app to the card if it's going to break the widget...
But at least it works and saves us a lot of space while they make the whole thing better
Using Google Earth as a large app not supporting apps2sd in step 2, I just checked that all you get is a warning. OS will not move apps after installation is over.

I'm generally happy even with this "beta" apps2sd. I'm just surprised that Manage applications doesn't have a list or sort function to display only apps that can be moved to SD card.

Well there is no point, that's why you're not supposed to do it.
There are some large apps with widgets, such as Pandora, which would be nice to be able to move to SD, however I want to use the widget. I wonder how hard it would be for them to make the widget a separate app. That way you can move the large app core to SD, but keep the widget internal.
Also, I wonder if it would be possible for Android to do this automatically. The widget components in the package should be pretty easy to separate from the non-widget parts. Of course if this was done the widget would need to have some code to gracefully handle the cases where the SD part of the app are not available.

Titanuim Backup and desire HD problem - Moving apps.

Ok straight to the point:
When i use the "Move user apps to the SD card" - everything that TiB moves stops working. I.e. NoLed keeps turning off after a reboot, or, swype unchecks itself, or, Flikie wallpaper says there's no sd card mounted...etc...
Any ideas?
Don't move the apps to your SD card. It's pretty self explanatory.
Your phone has more than enough system memory to install hundreds of apps.

apps disappearing

anyone has apps disappearing?
i.e. you're 100% certain they're installed, yet at some point they literally disappear - they're not in the drawer and if you have a shortcut on your home it goes blank (which is how you notice).
I have plenty of space left so its not that. Some are paid, some are free (all are from market).
it happened once or twice on froyo, upgraded to gingerbread OTA today and already happened once.
Yes I've had the same thing, had to restore with Titanium backup, and was frustrated, thought it was just me, but guess I'm wrong.
Never happened on froyo but has done at least 3 times in the last month on gingerbread.

I noticed that apps that I moved to the SD card would appear "disappeared" after I'd connected and removed a USB cable sometimes. The problem was the SD card didn't always remount so the apps looked like they were gone. No icons or anything anywhere but nothing on the status bar to suggest the SD card was still unmounted. However, if I went into Settings - SD Card & Phone Storage, and tapped the "Mount SD Card" option under SD Card, the SD Card would be mounted and all the apps on there would show back up. Just an idea...
if you moved the apps to your SD card, you lose the desktop icon. with froyo and the apps to SD app, it wouldnt disappear until you rebooted. but with gingerbread and the native apps to SD app, icons will disappear rather quickly.
Had this happen one time on 4183 with Galaxy on Fire 2. Haven't seen the problem since.

Need help with SD card

Hi, I recently got a Samsung Galaxy S5 and I bought an SD card for additional storage since the phone only has 16GB. Just in case, the phone is not rooted. I was trying to install an app earlier today and it wouldn't install because I didn't have any storage space left on my device. I wanted to know if there is any way to set the SD card as the default directory when downloading apps, stuff from the internet(videos, music, pictures), taking pictures and videos on the phone, etc. Thanks
For pictures/videos you can open camera and click the settings icon (top left) and choose storage location to be Memory Card.
Some large apps (like games), if you go to settings and app management, let you transfer them to SD card.
You can also go to settings, storage, and clear cache.

Internal/SD storage mess

Hi everyone,
I got the latest Moto X as soon as it went public because I loved the idea of Vanilla Android with SD support. I got the 16 GB version and a 64 GB SD. Ever since I got it, the phone has been bugging me about the storage and today I finally gave in. Until today I kept my photos, music and podcasts on my SD card but the internal memory was constantly full and I couldn't install new apps. So I thought formatting the SD card under Android 6 would make it one with the internal storage. It didn't. It made it worse. I can move apps to the SD card but I can't force photos and other media to be saved there. I was hoping for internal-SD continuity and I got a total lack of control. So now I can't receive SMS and I keep having "storage is running out" notification while I still have 60 GB free on my SD card.
What's your take on this? Thanks!
Since this is about SD cards, I'm having another problem to state if OP doesn't mind. On my Moto X, when using exploring (using file explorer) the original sd card I've used for years, many folders do not show up. The same happens to a video player (RockPlayer), where it doesn't show many folders I have on my card (it did when used on my previous Atrix 2). However, when I go to "Storage & USB" and select the card, everything is normal. That means, only when viewing the sd card via "Storage & USB", all folders appear.
However, applications and games (besides gallery) will assume the first situation, where those folders remain invisible. Does anyone know what the problem actually is?
Edit: After checking, it seems that my /sdcard folder is the same as /storage/emulated/0.
Thank you.

Seems like my sdcard folder is now C601-8353 under Storage folder, along with Emulated and Self folders.

Have you tried using OpenCamera instead? It's free, open source, AND lets you choose where to store the pics. IMHO the picture quality is better too.
You could also move the pics to the card manually after you take them...

Great call, thanks for the tip.
I haven't had any problems saving photos or other media to my SD card with adoptable storage. This is something you should be able to specify in preferences whether you are using adoptable storage or not. If this doesn't work with some apps just use a file manager to move the files to the SD card.
Sometimes when I move apps to my SD Card, I would get similar messages about being out of space, even though this wasn't the case. Deleting the cache on SD card seemed to fix the problem. There can also be a problem if your SD card is too slow. However, you would probably get an alert if that was the case.
My advise erase it all internal and sd card start from a blank state the phone should give you the option to mount the sd as internal I don't like how it is implemented so I chose not to use it.
For some strange reason my phone will not read my SD card I have it formatted to internal stage and now it says searching for SD card. I'm so mad I've searched all over with no solution, I'm about to get a new phone and scrap this one, sorry I'm just very upset and I had to vent, of anyone knows of this type of issue please share.
