I had 2 small scratches/cracks on my s7 edge screen. I took it to a samsung affiliate repairshop. They said they wanted 4300 nok (520 us dollars) to change my screen. I said ok.
Then right before they finish they say its rooted and they want 7700 nok (927 us dollars) to change the screen!
What kind of schhhity rule is this? What does root has to do with price of component repair?
Ive attached the messages between me and the repairshop here. Its in scandinavian.

Root should only effect your free warranty replacement or repairs....They're screwing with you

I was willing to pay the original price estimate 520 $ But when they raised it to 900+ $ I said forget it, Im gonna get it back unrepaired tomorrow. I just pay the 42$ for thei proce estimate.
I have a feeling they might have damaged some components inside. Im gonna check it carefully before I pickbit up.
Here in the UK that would be highly illegal and I would have called the Police. Not sure what the law is where you are.

I would refuse to pay for the estimate. Tell them your charging THEM for time wasting. They can go about changing the price of stuff half way through a fix, that's almost like holding your phone to ransom!
I would threaten legal action if it was me.

I sent it to the only samsung servicecenter in Norway. Deltaservice/Mobylife.
Ok. Went and picked it up today. They had fixed the screen and i paid the original estimate 520$.
What a bunch of clowns. Cant believe samsung actually uses them.
I wonder if the phone still retains it's IP68. Given that they appear to be a bunch of amateurs, I suspect it might not have been put back together with the correct materials. Wouldn't matter so much on a normal phone, but I'd keep that away from water if I were you.

I can say they are very serious...at least in Portugal.

don't know if it is of any use, but www.expansys.com seem to ship all over the world. the price of the HD is 525GBP (around 850USD according to www.xe.com). as for the taxes I know that in some countries pocket pcs can pass as "educational goods" (in the same way that personal computers do) therefore you might not need to pay any import tax (although you might be asked to pay VAT). maybe it's worth checking it, if you haven't already.

It's rather a funny story actually: I walked in @ the store in Hoofddorp and asked if they had the S2 on stock. "No" he told me "but tomorrow I have 7 on stock, 5 already reserved. If you extend your contract now I can reserve one for you". Well gues what, I did extend the contract, went home and then they called "We've got them! You can pick it up tomorrow" (was close to 18:00 so the shop would be closed before I could be there).
Unfortunatly I'm occupied most of the day, so I can pick it up at the end of the day
Just went to the belcompany and telefoonkopen shops and they have it in stock

Yes, bol.com is really credible. Its one of the largest e-salers in Holland, with excellent service in general. A bit on the pricey side I agree.

I'm with everybody that's replied so far--I've bought both an S4 & HTC One out of curiosity and wound up giving them away to my pre-teen nephews. You'd be far better off sorting out your current situation than moving to either candidate

As long as you don't want the original packaging I could fit it in a small box or padded envelope for $25.95 US. I can ask another carrier - that seems high but I have never sent anything internationally.
