Galaxy S5 G900V Stuck On "Soft Reset Loop" - Verizon Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I installed this busybox program from the appstore by jrummy:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jrummy.busybox.installer&hl=en
And I used one of the scripts that came with the app that was for a "fast reboot"... well it basically did a soft reboot and restarts right at the samsung logo and comes back on for about 20 seconds then it will keep doing it. I'm not really sure how to stop it... any help would be appreciated... I don't really want to have to do a factory restore over this crap....
EDIT
I've downloaded the app on another phone I have just so I could read the script..
All its made up of is: setprop ctl.restart zygote
So I'm going to try and see how to reverse that or cancel it out or something
Thanks

[Q] Android is upgrading after every boot

OK guys I have a problem and I'm hoping that you could help me.
I rooted my S4 and installed stuff that I wanted, phone was in a great shape until I came across this post that was guiding a way to remove the custom sign when you turn on the phone once you have rooted the phone, so the procedure was to install SuperSU and install the new su binary coming with it, uninstalling previous SU and rebooting. the post was claiming that the sign would be gone and the regular "Samsung galaxy S4" would be shown instead. So I did all those and on the way coming up on the first time the message "android is upgrading" popped up, it's the first time so it's fine, but then it became annoying when it started showing up every single time after that, I took some procedures to fix it as follows:
I,
1. removed application "supersu".
2. went back to the previous SU.
3. wiped delvik and cache. (something amazing about this is that after the manual wiping the number of apps being upgraded is 193, while in its every time boot it only upgrades 120 of them (which is good I think don't have to wait for all 193 every time), but it goes back to 120 after the initial boot after wiping delvik).
4. uninstalled TB.
5. executed fixing permission.
6 reinstalled TB and restored all the apps.
7. re-rooted the phone with motochopper.
8. looked for odex files in /data/ app. (there were none).
couldn't think of anything else and that's where I stopped. I know that this message pops up everytime delvik cache is wiped but I can't figure what is causing it every time.
one more thing, I noticed is that the USB debugging option turns off after every restart, not sure if this is something normal or what, just thought this may be helpful in the diagnosing process. one more thing the post was correct about the old sign coming back though.
There might be an app clearing cache everytime like an optimization app or something. Mine used to when I set rom toolbox to do so

This exact same thing is happening to me, as of today. All I did was clear cache and dalvik, and all of a sudden this is now happening. Gone through all the steps to figure out why as you did, and nothing has worked.
Strange part...mine is also getting stuck with the 120 at each boot. When I do it manually, it's 236.
I ended up restoring my phone, I think that's your last resort as well. I hope you have a backup, otherwise you're in trouble!
1.install lucky patcher
2.go to toolbox tab
3.remove all odex files
No great change

My phone still does the Updating, just now instead of starting at 27 and going to 57, it starts at 1 and goes to 30

On my rooted 4.3 Sony Xperia SP:
I did the lucky patcher thingy twice (it reboots each time, first time the nag happened). Booted up nicely after that.
It will do this if dalvik cache is wiped...one of your apps may be doing this automatically

Soft Brick Perhaps Due to Custom Font Change via ROOT on S4 I337

Hello all!
I am very very... very new to rooting so please bear with me. So basically I used KingRoot for an easy rooting process and then went and used an app that gets rid of KingRoot in favor of Super SU (App was called Super SU Me I think, on Play Store).
So one of the first things I did was download the Jrummy font changing app. I found a font I liked and I was prompted to make a backup of my current fonts and to have a nandroid backup as well in case. So I thought, being the noob that I was and still am that I wouldn't need to do such a thing so I just backed up my fonts thinking "good enough". I then reboot my S4 and it gets stuck on the AT&T logo (so a soft brick right?). So, I freak out cause I'm a noob and I din't expect a font change to soft brick my S4. Luckily before rooting I backed up photos and music but anyways I ended up booting into recovery mode and wiping data and the partition cache.
This ended up working (can't remember if it was multiple tries) and I got back to Android 5.0.1 Lollipop but was greeted with an "Unfortunately, Samsung Keyboard has stopped working." I thought this must be because of the font change so I maneuver to settings (with the error for the keyboard popping up every time I close it by tapping "OK") and change the default keyboard to Swype and that stopped the error from popping up. I then go to change the font and it says "Unfortunately, Settings has stopped working." or something like that and kicks me out of settings. So somewhere down the line I restart my phone and the process keeps repeating so I have to access my phone by factory resetting it in recovery mode and clearing the partition cache or whatever and then I can use android but the keyboard error keeps popping up every time.
I guess you could say I'm freaking out and I definitely guess you can say I'm a total noob at this.
BTW: I have no recoveries or anything so basically stuck with what I have. Also I tried a program called "_Hovatek__Auto_Font_Unbricker_V1.0 " and that didn't work even when I got the green text running in the program or whatever.
Please help! This is really bad I know!
Return to stock using Odin and this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2926642

Can you do that with android 5.0.1? I don't know if I can downgrade in order to restore to stock.

The last full firmware release for AT&T S4 was NB1. After that, there is only incremental updates (OTA) to lollipop. There is no full firmware release for android 5.0.1. As such if we screwed something up, we all have to go back to NB1 and start from there.
So please follow the guide mentioned in the previous post.
Wow! I can't believe that solved it! I had tried other solutions that I saw using Odin (kind of a mix mash of all the stuff I read) but that guide takes the cake! Seriously the best solution, thank you for the responses!

Yotaphone 2 virus/trojan

Hi everybody,
I bought Yotaphone2 on TinyDeal in two weeks ago. Yesterday, somehow I got virus/trojan. I have install all my app from Play store, not from any different sources. Didn't upgrade Android (it was 4.4) or root phone. I tried to stop and uninstall virus but I can't :crying:
First tried to reset to factory data but with no success. After that I tried recovery mode but it can't do anything, said something like E:\ is missing and after that I can't reboot it with recovery command - reboot system. Somehow I success to switch it off and turn it on again and there's nothing happened - same thing, got little hand on top of the screen, a lot of new stuff in app drawer :crying::crying::crying:
Can I somehow repair that so I can get working phone back? Can someone give me advice how to reflash it and how to make phone more secure? Thanks in advance!!:good:
Try updating your phone and download an antivirus app

PLEASE HELP! Substratum messed my galaxy s8 up.

After I applied a skin, it instantly crashed with a message saying "the system ui has stopped".
I can't get in to my phone. Only the always on display is available as of right now.
I have tried ejecting the sim, booting it in to safe mode.
My phone is not rooted and I don't plan on rooting it. I haven't registered bixby so I can't put it in to max power saving mode.
I don't know what adb shell is. Please can anyone help me save my phone? I am so desperate.
PLEASE HELP. MY PHONE IS A BRICK.
Can I save my phone without a factory reset?
I was on Oreo Beta.
Please help. Thank you
once in safe mode, see if you can disable substratum or perform a factory reset.
Ok dont panic i also had trouble after applying substratum, First my phone became very laggy and then apps stopped working with constant crashes. Eventually the phone became unusable. A factory reset solved the problem for me, if you cant get into the phone use samsung smart switch you should be able to reset it from there and try back up your data.
You could also try flashing a rom to see if this would help.
If you can't delete the overlays from safe mode then you'll have to perform a factory reset. The only other way I would assume is unfortunately uninstalling the overlay apks through adb but then you need to know the full name of the apks you want to delete. by using adb you could find the names of all installed apk but then again.. could be a reason to learn to use adb

S7 Edge Phone Settings

Hello beautiful people! First, my device is the Galaxy S7 Edge, I researched a bit and found i could remove bloatware via ADB command Shell. Pulled up a list of files/apps that were supposed to be safe to remove. Removed what i thought were ones from list that i could do without. If i had dought, i didn't erase! So, afterwards i needed to fresh start it so decided to do a factory reset. But found i could not get into my phone settings to do so. Only says "Settings has stopped" and close app. Now you should know that the power button on my device does not work. Maybe you can see my delima now. Need to know how to either get into settings in phone to select reset, or a hard reset without functioning power button. Have tried various commands via adb command and no luck....any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Unstuck For Now
Well after a couple of hours pondering on the issue, I realized that a reset could be accomplished thru Lookout. if lost phone you can get into google security and erase phone data over the air!
Good job brain. And sorry for the wasted post above lol.
