Galaxy S7 Edge Duos (SM-G935FD): Firmware version and OTA's - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

Hi guys, someone knows what is the firmware version of Galaxy S7 Edge Duos (SM-G935FD)? Is it regular the OTA update of the FW?

My country duos firmware just got updated to the latest APD1 firmware last week. There are a few countries with duos version so it depends on which country firmware you currently have. I am sure the update will be similar with the single sim version as there is little difference apart from the extra sim.

Yes I have heard of people flashing single sim version on the duos in this forum. Seems to work without issue. You can try and search out the thread.

Yes. I've done it.
The dual SIM (G935FD) and single SIM (G935F) FW are equal. Your device stays a dual SIM.
WARNING: does not apply to G9350 (Snapdragon dual SIM)
I've bought it via ebay and got an Afghan CSC. Here in Germany I didn't get any update since the Feb. 2016 which cam with the device.
Now I flashed the latest provider-free fw for German G935F.
benefits for me maybe:
- fast updates
- flashing stock firmware does not harm knox
- maybe better connection due to matching modem for local providers
Download the stock FW for your country and flash via ODIN. Be sure to flash
BL + AP + CP + CSC
Do NOT flash HOME_CSC because if you want to flash another regions FW the partitions have to be formatted the right size. All data will be wiped.

I have installed G935F firmware for G935FD and it works without issue.

Just a question: what do u mean with G935FW? Maybe G935FD? Thank u so much for ur post...I live in Italy so I'd like to have regular OTA's and now I know I can flash the G935F firmware on my G935FD device :good::laugh:

Edit: just a question. Why is it possible to flash the SM-G935F FW on model SM-G935FD? These are different smartphone, so what is the technical reason I mean ...?! I am so curios to know...

I'm not that familiar with samsung because I came from Nexus and other devices. But what I can tell is, that you're running a multi CSC FW used for middle-east samsung devices apply to different countries (CSC Part: OJV - I used the app Phone Info to tell that).
So if you did not get any update since February (patch level) Maybe you're in a country where there's no OTAs for this FW-Version.
ITV is a FW for Italy (TIM, Vodafone, WIND, H3G and Fastweb)
XEU is a Multi-County CSC I think. FW for UK (O2, Orange, T-Mobile, Virgin, Vodafone, TESCO, BT Mobile, H3G, Asda, Meteor, Tesco Mobile Ireland and Talk Mobile)
There is another CSC for Italy:
XET
I would suggest to choose an Italian FW to fit your country specific mobile carries the most. I'd choose the one with the most recent update or to say the fastest updates. But I don't know which one to choose.
Your question:
The device is called SM-G935F we have the variant D (Dual) with 2 IMEI. The FW provides both the single and dual-sim driver. Or its the same and there are 2 modems but only one has an IMEI in the single SIM devices, I don't know.

Which firmware would you guys recommend for use in the United States? I am on T-Mobile and it seems my data constantly drops, requiring me to toggle the data sim back and forth in the SIM manager to get it working again. It also refuses to pick up 4g or 3g when I leave the range of any wifi network I am connected to.

Someone posted here the dual sim variant has this issue where the data drops if one of the sims has very low bars or goes out of coverage...I guess this will need to be fixed in a new update by Samsung. I think this does not happen if you are using only single sim in the phone.

Hi there,
I bought a SM-935FD in Thailand during vacation (The price was incredible in duty free), and I live in Chile.
I want to flash the unlocked firmware for Chile (code CHO), but I don't know If i should flash the HOME_CSC file or leave it alone (the other 4 files i'm sure I have to flash them)
Thanks!!

Hi guys!!
Yesterday I flashed the stock ROM for Chile (CSC code CHO) for SMG935F and everything is working flawlessly, thank you very much!!!
I do have one comment: I don't know why but phone info app is showing that my CSC now is actually from Panama. This is pretty weird considering I flashed the CHO version, however, I think this may have to do with the fact that Panama and Chile are in the same "region" for Samsung and they are bundled together in the same firmware.
Any comments regarding this??

Hey!
I was wondering if you found any clarity on whether FD and F are the same (essentially to facilitate flashing of custom roms)
Thanks
After doing some digging, I've found that the only differences between A510F and A510FD are the (CP, CSC) parts,
and according to GSMArena, A510F was released for the Europe market, While A510FD was released for the Southeast Asia market,
According to that info, You can flash A510F Roms on A510FD without CP, CSC parts, And vice versa.

Yes you can flash the a510f russia firmware on a510fd ...
But make your before flashing you must be on july lollipop build
And for the safe side check on oem unlock under developer option ..
If you have indian model i m not sure about that because it have different baseband. Other than that middle east and africa model you can flash with the same old odin method .
Enjoy

India A5 2016 (SM-A510FD) already has Mashmallow via OTA.
So your phone will be running Mashmallow after all OTA updates. And yes SM-A510FD is not listed on sammobile , Samsung-updates and other samsung stock firmware websites but feedback from other users has shown that you can flash stock Samsung firmware for SM-A510F on SM-A510FD via Odin.
@ConanDA98 : Hi thanks for the info about the firmware and yes i have received the update and now the phone is running on android M .
That is interesting that India has pushed out MM on the A510FD devices. FD is dual sim, where F is the single sim version(Western countries).
It would be interesting to know those who have flashed the MM of A510F rom's onto their A510FD devices, and still retained access to both sim's and sim manager application...

If I'm not doing any mistake, this means that I can flash the firmware for the SM-A510F for marshmallow if I omit the CP,CSC parts.
I tried to find a way to do it with the firmware found on CF-auto-root, to get my phone with the "normal" firmware just rooted, but I could'nt find any way to do so.
After trying a flash of this unmodified ROM with Odin (which bricked my device in a permaloop of SEANDROID crash, fortunately I recovered it with samsung smart switch), I did some research to understand what are CP and CSC, and as far as I understand, they are parts of the rom.
Am I supposed to do a partial flash ?
Or to build a rom mixing this one and those parts extracted from mine ?
Thanks in advance for any answer you might have for me.

Can't find Stock Firmware for dual Sim model SM935FD

Hi. I bought s7 edge in Thailand.
I was trying to find its stock firmware to get my phone a new fresh start. So far, I only found a link to Singapore firmware.
Here is from my phone
free upload
I heard you can flash single Sim firmware into dual one, but I was just afraid and prefer original firmware (before I root it soon hahaha)
Any idea where I can find one for my Thailand model.

OLB covering Malaysia/Philippines/Singapore/Thailand/Vietnam. I believe your latest update is of February 2016
Download Phone INFO Samsung from playstore and look for the active CSC. It has got a country shown as well.
I have a FD version as well with XME (Malaysia) CSC. But from what I have researched, for Galaxy S7 Edge specifically, Samsung has been releasing OTA updates (three times; once a month since Feb) for OJV countries (Algeria, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Morocco, Nigeria, Oman, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia,South Africa, Syria, Tunisia, Turkey), XSG (united arab emirates) and EU countries (NEE=Netherland, DBT=Germany, LUX=Luxembourg so far)
I have decided to flash the DBT firmware as from the look of firmware updates trend, Galaxies with DBT receive the earliest and most frequent updates from Sammy. Everything is working fine. No Knox triggered. Not too sure about the warranty; i guess it doesn't matter that much since samsung only looks at whether your knox has been triggered.
Good luck
thank you
can I flash German firmware only PDA or i have to flash CSC and MODEM too?

S7 Edge International on AT&T

Hey y'all,
I've had this S7 Edge International version for a while, and I was wondering if there is any way to improve signal. My internet is slow when I'm not on WIFI, I notice that in certain areas it is good, and most areas is just 1 bar which is meh. Any way to change some settings on the phone to fix this?
what csc are using? I got a France 935 and xfe works OK on AT&T. I did read you don't want to use an AT&T csc as it would be for a snapdragon and mess up a exynos based phone. maybe try BTU

How do I do this? and does it trip knox?
if you update to an official Samsung version Knox will not trip. look for entries about official Samsung firmware and Odin. I assume that this international s7 edge will not be back in it country of origin. if it was and on a network there you'd get updates. if it is in the United States on AT&T then no updates would be pushed to the phone since they would be for the snapdragon version.

I meant firmware updates from either Samsung or your carrier. if you use *#12580*369# the first two lines should end in BPHJ. That would be an updated firmware. what do the first two entries say

SM-G935F: Flashing different region ROM

Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge: SM-G935F
Hello everyone,
So the reason I'm asking for guidance and not straight up trying what I found is because this is my only phone and I cannot risk or afford fixing it if things hit the fan like i'd do with a spare or an old phone.
In addition the region code attached to it, the code is carried by different carriers and countries in the Gulf Area, some of which received Android 8 and some haven't. However since my phone wasn't purchased from STA, saudi telecom, I don't believe it received the updates distributed to the country,. So currently my phone was bought from a distributor in Saudi Arabia, which usually carries codes from different gulf countries. That region apparently hasn't received updates since earlier this year.
I'd appreciate just simple guidance for this process to get it right.
However I do LIVE in the UK and I would like to flash my phone to a UK region, I'm unsure which code to use and what files I would need to place in Odin.
Phone info:
Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge: SM-G935F, Unlocked (They usually require you to use a local sim card for a 5 minute call after which it's fully unlocked)
CSC: G935F0JV1DQIL
AP: G935FXXU1DQJ8
CP:G935FXXU1DQIL
Would it be possible to flash to UK BTU as they receive more frequent updates?
I don't know if this has any bearing but I'm using a Three sim card at the moment.. However I have used around 8 different sim cards/companies in this phone since i purchased it.
I would appreciate any advice on what files to place into Odin if I want to keep my data. (Or if I have to completely wipe it?) or shall I switch to another up-to-date OJV country like Emirates (UAE)?
Also i'm not sure what home_csc file is.
hope to hear from you guys soon.

good day
I purchased my device SM G935FD from Oman with CSC XSG (part of multiple CSC OJV middle east and some African countries). Even though I received OTA, I always install the full firmware upon officially released.
I upgraded my device from Android 7.0 to 8.0 using UK BTU firmware, the availability of which came first.
In short I downloaded the firmware from Updato (Sam Mobile slow and lagging) for the BTU firmware. Just to be sure you have to download the correct and appropriate firmware and also the latest Odin (Odin3v3.13.1) which was upgraded by Samsung to be utilized for Android 8.0 and higher versions.

good day
I purchased my device SM G935FD from Oman with CSC XSG (part of multiple CSC OJV middle east and some African countries).

Also, be sure to activate your Developers options and enable USB debugging and unlock OEM. Using Home_CSC will retain your user data while using CSC only will factory reset your device and start anew.

About Knox tripping?
Hello, I'm expecting to do something like this to my phone, but I'm wondering, will it trip Knox? Because you're changing the ROM, so I don't know

Help needed - Imported s8 network issue in india

I bought s8 (G950N-Exynos-singled sim) from south korea though i live in india. Here voLTE wasn't working before, then i flashed a custom rom hadesrom one ui by corsicanu. Now voLTE works almost fine.
But the network service of my device is very poor than indian s8 (i compared it with indian s8). I was wondering if i can flash the bootloader and modem of indian s8(G950FD) via odin .
But the problems are 1. my phone is singled sim, 2. there are no such indian s8 firmware of android 9 on sammobile.com.
What if i flash the bl and cp of G950F ?

voLTE is a carrier specific service. if it wasnt working on your previous ROM and is currently working on the new one, then the dev baked in the goodness of voLTE on your ROM where it was absent prior in the previous ROM.
Anyways, as far as what will happen if you flash the G950F firmware, it will boot and then the phone will think its a G950F. Thats it. Exynos processor S8's can accept the F firmware

use this version of Odin. Teh linked page described why your phone is failing the flash. Its tripping up on a 255 error
i had to use this on my A8 when flashing the UK firmware on it since it was a UAE market phone
