IMEI problem - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

So I bought an At&t branded s7 edge from Bestbuy (preorder) and decided to submit a request to at&t for an unlock code. I opened up the "about phone" and located the "IMEI information" tab and typed the IMEI listed, however I got an error that told me the IMEI was no a valid at&t IMEI, so i double checked the IMEI and it was typed in correctly. So I got to thinking maybe ill just check what the box says... Strangely the box has a DIFFERENT IMEI printed on it than what the software on the phone says. What do I do now?

Did the box have a seal when you got it from Bestbuy? You could take it to them and show them the issue to see what they say. It sucks that we no longer have a user replaceable battery or you could have checked under the battery to see if the printed IMEI matches the one on the box.

Yeah the box was sealed. *#06# also reports the IMEI the same as the software. The Box IMEI also comes back as an invalid At&t IMEI... I'm at a loss for words....

That's crazy! When you login to your ATT account, what IMEI does it show? Maybe try calling ATT and see if they can help.

IMEI Drama
I have a similar problem... bought an unlocked verizon s7 at a store kiosk in a mall in Fort Lauderdale and transferred my Alpha's sim to it. AT&T, however, doesn't recognize the IMEI. It seems that until I get the IMEI issue fixed I can't use MMS... Since I have a working SIM I can use the phone, but a call to AT&T support got me a response of, "sorry, sucks to be you..." I'm not sure how to get an IMEI recognized by AT&T, any suggestions?

I think the problem is that you guys are inputting the last two digits from the IMEI on the box, hence invalid output.
Don't forget only 15 digits from left to right!

My IMEI is different from what it says on the sticker

The sticker and box say one thing, but the IMEI on the handset is different.
All I have ever done to the phone was soft/hard (I forget which) SPL so that I could flash WinMo 6.5 following the instructions on the wiki, and everything has been fine since I did this back in May/June time.
Now I have decided to unlock it as I am on O2 with an iPhone, and thought I would use my HD as a backup phone, so I bought a credit on HTCCode.com after seeing several success stories, and it failed on the login with the software. No big concerns just yet, I emailed him the details to sort it, however as I was typing out the IMEI from the box, I thought to double check on the handset, and discovered they are different.
Is this something likely to have been changed by the SPL thing when I flashed it?
I assume I can get it unlocked via the IMEI which is currently on the handset, but I am concerned that this is not the correct one.
Any help?
TIA
ive seen other threads for other devices where ppl have claimed flashing hardspl has changed there imei number ..... just use the one ur fone reports and nt the one on the box .... no big deal
Yeah I realise it works and it's not a problem, but it may look a little bit dodgy if I choose to sell it.
The unlock worked fine anyway, just seems a little odd that the IMEI is so easy to change on these handsets. I thought it was supposed to be almost impossible.
Oh well.
You've probably looked at your phone's system properties to see what it says the IMEI number is. You can also dial *#06# on your phone's key pad. When the final # is entered, a 15-digit number will appear. This is a free call regardless of whether you have a SIM card installed.
As long as you're not doing anything illegal, you should be okay. Within the past couple of days, I read something about crooks changing IMEI numbers mostly with stolen phones but also to evade the law.
I registered my new Blackstone Clone with T-Mobile today on their prepaid plan. I asked them what IMEI number they showed and the operator said she not disclose the number but could confirm it if I, the phone's owner, gave it to her. When I dialed in *#06# (I was on a land line) on the Clone, she confirmed the IMEI when I gave it to her.

Fun thing, has anyone been able to register their tab at the samsung site?

Select type, mobile. Ok, that works.
Select sub type, Galaxy Tab. Right, done.
Ok, next 2 boxes don't appear as there's no submodels to the Tab.
Fill in rest of the data, hit submit and...
Must fill in those fields that if I select Galaxy Tab, don't have anything in.
Np, will pretend it's a phone to get the serial number in, and...
No go. It knows the Imei is for a Tab.
Bit of a blunder releasing the device and you can't register. No problem, I'll just submit a... oh. I need to be registered... doh!
Yes, I've been trying to register for the last 2 days, its bothering me. What about a phone call?
Ditto, I'm mainly stuck at the serial number part. There is no serial number anywhere on this unit. I tried entering the MEID but that wouldn't take.
Also they don't have my specific model number all mine has on the unit and the box is SCHI800BKV but the site has two versions with an A and an L in the model number.
I was able to register 2 days ago. I was having the same issues before.
I think for the sub category, pick GTab again instead of TMobile Gtab, etc.
After that I was able to pick the other drop downs.
Having the same issue the Samsung customer service employee told me I needed to wait 2 days for what IDK
What you need to do is select 'Cell phone' istead of galaxy tab, and then enter the IMEI number in the serial number box. May take a bit of fighting with it, but it worked for me.
Nope, i think it's only taking IMEIs (GSM equipment), not ESNs (CDMA Equipment)...
I found the serial number in the "about phone" section - status. It lists the IMEI and the serial number. Had to trouble registering my Tab without the serial number at first.

Your equipment is GSM, i believe. CDMA equipment doesnt show a s/n under settings ~~> about phone ~~> status. Our equipment only show ESN #s in Dec and Hex.

This is ridiculous!
How do you have a registration page that only caters to one type of device? Not only that...when you try to register over the phone, no one can help you either!!!
So Not Kewl!
Do everything as you are supposed to on the page, selecting "Galaxy Tab." Then put in the Hex version of the IMEI starting after the first two characters, "0x" in my case. For example, your Hex IMEI code will look something like:
0xA1234567899ASA
but only put in:
A1234567899ASA
and it will fill in the greyed out boxes for you.

i assume you mean "put in the HEX version of the ESN," not of the IMEI.
Anyway, still doesn't register for me
I can't register my at&t tab! It says invalid imei, serial number. Little help please!
Sent from my Galaxy Tab using XDA App
Managed to get registered last night in the end, silly faffy todo. Perhaps this should be done automatically when you buy it at the store

Yes, MEID accessed through settings->about device->status->MEID.
My model is a verizon. Not sure if that would make any difference.
Using the HEX worked for me.
Sprint.
Has anyone with an AT&T Tab been able to register? This is highly frustrating!!
No luck wit at&t tab. Can't get my $50.

Which brand Tablet do you have?
I don't get a serial or IMEI error, I get an error about the sub-category fields not being populated.
It's like the form isn't checking my AT&T IMEI number.

Want to set up for AT&T properly

I went into my local AT&T store and they gave me a nano-sim card.
my current device is a LG G3 which I plan to return once the Xperia is activated. The G3 uses a micro-sim.
how can I set this up to work properly so there are no IMEI duplicate/blacklisting issues.

Tell them the situation, use same imei as g3. Profit.

right thats the easy part. what im afraid of is once i return the G3, the imei from it will be tagged on my acct with AT&T. if that phone gets activated again, whether it's resold or not, the imei will show its on multiple devices and that could cause problems.
any ideas? or is that not how it works...
i don't think it will be a problem. they will know the IMEI of the phone you are currently using the moment you turn it on and connect to a cell tower. so the IMEI on the account will be replaced with your current phone. If they dont' have that phone in their database, it will show up as unknown or whatever the hell their database claims it is.

Not sure, I've read that sometimes they will just pull the IMEI from a display phone in the store.
I gave them the IMEI from an LTE phone that is under contract with AT&T on a separate business account, it wasn't an issue at all.
no they dont have dummies or generics and they cannot override the data provisioning determined by your IMEI. just activate your new sim, make no mention of your new phone. if you sell your device to another att subscriber it should not make any difference.

I got two Z3C for both myself and my wife. When I got them activated the sales rep used the exact same IMEI number from an HTC One m8. Same IMEI number two different phones. Neither my wife nor I have had problems.
Easiest way? Talk to the AT&T rep in the store, tell them it is a imported phone and they will need to leave the IMEI number as the current one. Program in the APN settings and done. AT&T does not do any blacklisting or care how many devices have the same IMEI number in their system, it just requires that a valid one for LTE be set for an active device.

[Q] Fake phone?

Hi,
I bought a used unlocked T-Mobile Galaxy Note 3 from Amazon. The seller said that the imei's clean, but when I check the imei on a site like imei.info, imei.info says the phone's supposed to be a Nokia N95. Also, when I dial *#06# on the phone to get the imei, I get the 15-digit imei followed by a "/ 4", and the Imei SV is 4 in the phone's settings. And actually, behind the phone's battery, the sticker lists a different imei than the one you get in the phone's *#06#, with a different 15-digit number and a "/ 3" instead of "/ 4", and using this sticker's imei on imei.info does show me that it's a Galaxy Note 3 with all the correct specs, but when I type this sticker imei into Swappa's imei checker, it gives a warning saying it's "Financed: Outstanding Balance (IMEI Blacklist)". Finally, after performing a factory reset on the phone, SuperSU appears in the phone's Apps list.
Should I keep this phone? Like, would there be any problems down the road if I decide to keep it and use it with T-Mobile? For example, even though it doesn't seem to be blocked/blacklisted now, could it get blacklisted later even though it's unlocked? Or possibly, is this Galaxy Note 3 fake, with a crappy parts inside like a fake cpu or something?

[HELP] Missing a Couple of IMEI #'s

My 6p was stolen over the weekend. The police won't let me report it as stolen without the IMEI. I bought the phone off eBay a year and a half back and the seller is no longer available. I have the original box but it is missing about 4 digits for the IMEI, the part where they should be must have been ripped off.
Is there any way I can get the rest of the digits? find my device on google no longer stocks IMEI. The serial number is there in full if that helps
Try contacting your service provider. They may be able to tell you the IMEI that has connected to that SIM.
I'll give them a whirl tomorrow. thanks
